It was hard to believe that it could even possibly only be a legend. There was no other way to explain why they had 4 victims with the same cause of death within a block of each other. The people in the vicinity that didn't seem too hesitant to talk to the police said that it had been said legend. It couldn't possibly be much of a legend if it could behead 4 people within minutes of each other let alone be seen by people. That would just make it more of a living legend.
That was the problem though. There was no way that she'd be able to go around telling the victim's families that they had been murdered by some headless legend! No she was a way better cop than that and she was going to get to the bottom of this. She wanted to give the families closure on the deaths of their loved ones no matter what. The black rider was not going to be her perp to go down for this though as she wouldn't except it.
It was too bad that her superior had decided to go above her head and call in some outside help. She was the one in charge of this district so why should someone she didn't know or know the area be better to solve this instead of her. The best thing that her boss had told her had to have been the fact that there was only gonna be two people coming and they were students. Apparently it wasn't any normal school though and something like this was just the case for them. She didn't this idea of outsiders helping them at all but she had no choice but to listen or risk being fired.
The most annoying part was that she had been put in charge of retrieving them from the airport as well as filling them in on the mission. They would be briefly explained the mission before arriving but she would add to that knowledge and the case file. Anything that could possibly help them find the culprit and eliminate them would be provided to them. She still refused to believe that the target was indeed the black rider because he was supposed to be a legend and she continued to think this as she waited for the two students to find her just outside of the airport doors. She was holding a sign that had the word Shibusen written on a sign and she held it casually as she leaned against her car annoyed.
"Catering to a couple of little brats is what we are doing."

To be back in Japan again had Misaki in the giddiest of moods possible. Sure, she and Dion were there on a mission but still! She was back in her birthplace, her home! And it wasn’t even on some required family visit where she would have to dress up like some proper young lady and be all polite and demure! The plane ride over had consisted of her trying to not be hyperactive, but this hadn’t really ended very well. Looking out the window was fun enough, and her iPod kept her occupied for a bit, but after her DS had lost its battery power she’d run out of things to do. Granted, repeatedly pushing the call button for a flight attendant and then pretending like she didn’t once they got there was probably not the best option but hey, it wasn’t like they’d caught her. Although they must have suspected. Misaki had been snickering quite a bit. After a certain point, though, she’d worn herself out with her in flight shenanigans and fallen asleep, having woken up with her head resting on Dion’s shoulder. Being back in the airport just hyped her up even more. Misaki had stood and spun in a circle for a moment, just happy to be back in Japan. She really was patriotic; she just never really showed it unless she was back in her home country. She was even worse if actually present in Kyoto. They were in Tokyo, which she supposed was okay, but the Tokyo would never be anywhere near as fun as Kyoto in her mind. Still, that hadn’t lasted long. She and her Weapon had a Kishin Egg to hunt own after all, and someone was no doubt waiting for them. It shouldn’t take them too long to get to where their contact was. Misaki knew the airport like that back of her hand, but took her time just walking a bit slower than she would’ve anywhere else. Seeing signs written in characters again made her smile and look a bit like a kid in a candy store. Misaki was excited to be on a mission though. After all, she needed to make up for past mistakes. This one would be different. She had a small handle with Soul Perception now, and would be using it once they met up with whoever their contact was. It wasn’t pleasant to think that she and Dion could’ve been fooled like they had in their first mission, but Misaki was determined to never let it happen again. Not to mention any doctors they ran into on this one would not be trusted and possibly tied up. Just to make sure they couldn’t do anything suspicious or potentially villainous. Nope, not while Misaki was around. Still, she hoped that their contact this time around wouldn’t turn out to be a no good, double crossing backstabber. That would be unfortunate and highly embarrassing. On a more important note, one thing that absolutely had to be done before the two met with their contact was find Misaki’s Vespa. From what they’d been told about the Kishin Egg previous to going to Japan, it was deemed that the two would indeed need the mechanical death trap in order to get around and possibly chase down their target. Misaki or course had no issue with this other than that she had to entrust the piece of machinery to strangers as she couldn’t very well take it on the plane with her. Thankfully it had been waiting in one of those weird pick up offices and Misaki was able to retrieve it near the baggage carousels. Wheeling it alongside her, the tiny Japanese girl patted one of the handlebars, “Shhh, it’s okay. I’m here now.”Talking to inanimate objects was completely normal and no one would ever tell Misaki otherwise. The Vespa could totally hear her. Next on the list would be to find their contact, which she assumed was the lady standing looking rather peeved while holding a sign that read ‘Shibusen’. Well, if she wasn’t it then Misaki didn’t see anyone else standing around that could possibly be who they were looking for. Wandering over to the woman, Misaki bowed and put on that wicked grin of hers, “Konnichiwa! Wareware wa Shibusen kara no gakuseidesu.”((Hello! We’re the students from Shibusen.))

Dion was tired. He was so excited about going on a mission sleeping was far from possible the previous night. Of course he tried but it ended in utter failure. It wasn’t so much nervousness, though that was a part, as much as it was excitement. For most of the night the weapon had laid in his bed staring at the ceiling going over details of the mission. Usually he wouldn’t bother looking over the specifics but if he wasn’t sleeping he might as well occupy his mind with something relevant to the mission. Needless to say the mission review didn’t last long.
After that he moved on to thinking about strategies and attacks. Dion didn’t have a very good idea of what was going to happen and the fact that they were going to be most likely chasing the kishin on the Vespa threw even more uncertainty into the mix. Never the less he still considered what he could possibly do to best take down the kishin. One thing was for sure, it would not be like the last mission he was on. They were not going to get beat on like that again, especially now that they had a resonance in their disposal.
Using his time he took some advice his meister had given him and packed a small bag of things to occupy him on the plane ride to Japan. He didn’t bother with much considering the nature of what they were doing. Last time he didn’t bring much of anything for the mission and fared pretty well. The weather was a bit of a pain last time but he managed to deal with it well enough. Besides, the weather would be reduced to a minor aspect of the background once they got there. It wasn’t nearly close to the most important thing to worry about.
Once morning came Dion gave up with his useless attempts at sleep and prepared with his meister to go to the airport. Soon enough they were on the plane that would take them to their target. Misaki was hyper as usual and entertained herself with her DS and the poor flight attendants of the plane. Dion was a tad too drained to bother messing with the people on the flight. Instead he kept himself occupied by listening to his iPod and looking out the window. Being so high up in the air was nothing new to him but it was still enjoyable none the less.
After his meister got bored and passed out he started to finally grow tired. He did have some energy drinks with him for just such a situation but they still had some time left before they landed. Going over the choices in his head Dion weighed each option for a few minutes. Sighing he decided against consuming his drinks and joined his meister in a short nap before the mission started. It took no time for him to pass out, his head falling against his meister’s.
When the plane started to descend and Dion awoke the first thing he did was to reach into his back and drink the aforementioned drinks. The nap was nice and all but it was still only a little nap. Sure he had run on less but he wanted to be at the best he could for the mission and the more energy the better. Off the plane he walked alongside his meister and looked around. Dion did have to contain some of his excitement; it was his first time in Japan after all. Looking around he took in what he could while they were there.
Noticing all the signs in Japanese Dion gave up trying to understand what they meant and decided to just rely on his meister for any of the Japanese reading stuff. Following his meister they headed over to the luggage area and picked up the familiar death trap that was Misaki’s Vespa. Ion was glad that his meister didn’t just jump on and start the ride the machine instantly and was at least waiting till they met the people before defiling the streets of Japan. Adding the Vespa to the party they headed back toward the signs that mad absolutely no sense to him.
Noticing one sign that he actually understood they headed over to the one that said Shibusen. What a lovely looking escort! She looked about ready to try and stab them kishin egg or not! Was it too much to ask for Shibusen to get contacts that didn’t want to murder them? Misaki bowed to her but Dion wasn’t really willing to bow to her. Be it disrespectful or whatever, Dion didn’t give a fuck. His meister then said some stuff in Japanese that he knew all of two words out of. Whatever it was must have been some kind of greeting.
Dion simply stood next to his meister with his hands lazily resting in his hoodie pockets. His fingers tapped against a shot of Monster that he had yet to down. The other energy drinks were already coursing through his system just waiting for use. Giving a slight nod toward his meister he figured he’d throw in his own sort of greeting to their contact.
“Yeah, what she said.”
In his mind Dion got the personal satisfaction of knowing that he had given a kishin egg that had backstabbed them and tried to kill them a friendlier greeting. The corner of his mouth that was concealed by his hair twitched into a smirk. He hoped their contact didn’t notice but on the other hand didn’t really care if she did. Her opinion of him was essentially worthless, he just wanted to start this mission and consume that soul.

The flight should be landing any minute and she wouldn't have to stand waiting for those kids any longer. She had taken the chance before the arrival of the plane to take out a cigarette and light it. Kami only knew that she'd need it to tolerate a couple of kids from America. She took a long drag off of the cigarette and let out a sigh as well as the smoke in her mouth. She was already dreading the moment they would show up in front of her and just wanted to kill herself right there.
Her exceptions were probably met and then some when she noticed a couple of kids walking towards her after the announcement of the plane arriving. She had expected them to be hyper and overly enthusiastic about being in a different country and almost too excited to contain it. She hadn't been expecting one of them to actually be Japanese nor to be rolling a vespa along with her. She was the excited one it seemed as she was almost giddy with a smile on her face while the boy was probably some type of goth or whatever, she really didn't care, and didn't seem to be as excited to be there. Great, just great!
The female bowed to her as a wicked grin came to her face and she spoke to her in Japanese. That only helped to prove that she was in fact Japanese but it also meant that she wouldn't be able to make side remarks in Japanese now. She wasn't too upset about this fact though and looked over to the green haired male as he just said 'what she said' to her. She wasn't sure if she noticed a smirk on his face or not but if it was she was going to drop it. She didn't want to end up getting into trouble for beating the kids ass.
She placed the sign that she had been holding up while waiting for them and bowed in return to them both. It was proper etiquette after all even if she felt that they didn't deserve it. She didn't stay like this long, however, and was back upright with a less than relaxed smile on her face. She had to be friendly to these two kid's otherwise it'd be her job on the line and after all they were apparently there to save her district. As she was looking over them she rolled her eyes subtly and took another drag of the cigarette in her mouth as she highly doubted that these two could do much to save her distract.
"There's no need to speak in Japanese. I know English. If it'll be easier on your friend there." She said as she referred to Dion. "I'm the chief of this district, Noriko Itou. Thank you for coming." Noriko continued introducing herself as well as thanking them for being there although she most likely didn't mean it.
Noriko wasn't going to explain the other information for the mission out here in the open though where someone could hear. She was rather protective of her district and didn't want to cause alarm if someone overheard their discussion. The people of this area were too cautious as it was right now and to hear that the legend was actually real would just send them over the edge. Before they could get to the police station though they'd have to load up the vespa, which she hadn't been informed of them bringing. Her boss seemed to have completely forgotten to tell her and so now she was probably going to have to stuff it into her trunk on the way there.
"Let's not discuss things here though." Noriko said to them as she started to walk to the back of her car. "I'm positive we can fit your vespa in the back of my car, miss." She said as she nodded at the vespa and unlocked the truck then lifted it open.

Maybe this police woman wasn’t as bad as Misaki originally thought. Sure, she’d looked a tad bit annoyed but then again Misaki would hate to stand holding a sign waiting for people at an airport too. It seemed like a pretty boring job after all. She only hoped that woman had more interesting work to do while she was actually running around doing police-like things. As was customary, the tiny Japanese girl got a bow in return. The smile this lady put on did seem a bit strained though. Apparently she knew English which would certainly help. Misaki would’ve hated to have to translate to Dion every five seconds, and it would also have been terribly tiring mentally to have to do that. After introducing herself as Noriko Itou, Misaki smiled at the woman and bowed her head slightly just to be extra polite while introducing herself. It never hurt to throw in some extra manners,
“I’m Misaki Saito. It’s no trouble, Itou-san. Hunting these things down is what we do after all! We’re here to help in any way we can.”
Truth be told, Misaki was itching to get out into the city and track down the Kishin Egg running around Tokyo. It felt like ages since she and Dion had completed their first mission, and she had more than enough pent up energy to dish out in a flurry of kicks and jumps at this thing. She couldn’t wait to get going, but she supposed it really would be better for them to figure out just what was happening. Specifics were always good after all and generally kept them from going astray.
The tiny Japanese girl could understand the chief also not wanting to discuss things out in public, but it also put her a bit on edge. Sure, there was no need to get the people at the airport all worked up with the grisly details, but the last time Misaki and Dion had followed their contact somewhere they had ended up in a muddy field with a crazed doctor. But wait, there was a way to make sure that didn’t happen again. Misaki had picked up Soul Perception since their last mission. She still wasn’t the best at it, but she could use it well enough to tell whether or not they could trust this police chief woman.
Following Noriko, Misaki rolled her Vespa alongside her and looked around a bit. It was wonderful to be back in Japan. Being outside and hearing the traffic made her feel even more at home. Tokyo was not at all silent after all. Neither was Kyoto but now was not the time to be thinking of her home city. She agreed that it was probably best to stash her Vespa in the trunk, although the though of having it next to her in the back seat or even just driving along behind Noriko’s car did cross Misaki’s mind. Still, she rolled it to the back as the chief propped open the trunk. She’d get plenty of chances to cause some traffic based mayhem later, she was sure of it.
Misaki paused for a moment at the back of the car, trying to figure out just how to get the piece of machinery up into the car. She could lift it on her own, that much she knew, but it was getting a solid enough grip on it that she was worried about. After thinking for a moment or two, Misaki set one hand under the handle bars and the other beneath the rear license plate to lift it up into the trunk. Making sure the Vespa was lying flat; Misaki paused and snuck a glance at Noriko. The tiny Japanese girl paused just long enough to get focused before trying out her Soul Perception on her. It was the only way to know for sure that she and Dion wouldn’t be dealing with a repeat of their first mission. Hopefully it just looked like she was securing her beloved means of transportation and not staring creepily at the police woman.

At the woman’s bow Dion did bow his head slightly in return. He didn’t want to be completely rude to their contact but he wasn’t going to be overly friendly either. The easier they dealt with her the faster they could be done with her and go after the real target, the kishin egg. Dion kept his usual expression of boredom on his face at the contact’s strained smile. Her attempt at being friendly was stupid and utterly pointless. They didn’t come here to be all buddy buddy with the Japanese police force. They were here to take care of a kishin egg and that was it.
Dion was relieved that the woman knew English. It did seem a little ridiculous that Shibusen would send them to meet a contact that didn’t know how to speak the same language as them. With Misaki the risk wasn’t as terribly bad but if some other team took the mission without a Japanese speaker there could be problems. Noriko Itou huh? Dion wasn’t sure if her name was easier or more difficult to say than Thomas Yersinia. Her demeanor wasn’t exactly of the thankful type but again it didn’t really matter how she was. As long as she got them what they needed to fight the kishin egg there wasn’t a problem.
His meister introduced herself so Dion figured he should do the same, albeit in a less enthusiastic manner. Dion didn’t think Noriko needed an explanation of why they were here. Shouldn’t she already know about them if it was her police force that had contacted Shibusen?
”Names Dion Key. The pleasure is ours.”
Now why did she not want to discuss the mission here? Was she afraid someone would overhear them? Dion didn’t think it was a big deal if they did. The people should be allowed to know if some corrupted soul was going around killing people. What was the worst that could happen? They hide inside so that they don’t get killed in the creature’s attacks? Not like it mattered where they were told about the kishin as long as they got the information but Dion wasn’t terribly fond of lowering his guard around the chief. It wasn’t that he didn’t trust her, he just didn’t trust her. After their first mission Dion was suspicious around future contacts they met. He wasn’t going to let one of them turn on him and Misaki again.
Following his meister Dion was ready to transform or enter his partial at a moment’s notice. The noise of the city was a nice change from the last mission they took. In a way it reminded Dion slightly of New York but at the moment it did little to relax him. Being in a city didn’t mean they were much safer from attack but it did mean he would have a slight home turf advantage. He knew Misaki had developed a bit of soul perception between the last mission and now and was hoping she would be able to tell if the police chief was a kishin egg or not. Standing next to his meister Dion was ready to offer assistance getting the Vespa into the trunk but knew she could manage it on her own. Not focusing on anything in particular Dion glanced around him to get at least an idea of what they would be dealing with. Sure they were in a city and that was much better than being in some shitty forest in the rain with mud everywhere but it was still a new place to him. Catching Misaki glance at the chief he assumed his meister had the same idea as him.
Leaning down toward his meister Dion looked at the Vespa to make it seem like he was checking his meister’s work. When he was close enough he whispered to Misaki to confirm or deny his thoughts.
”So how does her soul look?”
After asking Misaki Dion went back to a normal position of standing. If their contact did turn out to be a kishin egg he was all ready to kill her inside the car. If not the missionwould be more difficult but at the least he could relax around their contact without fear of death.

They had some manners, she'd give them that. At least they went about having them and being polite. It didn't make her like them though. She still didn't like having to cater to them. She wasn't even really doing that though it was just her exaggerating.
Noriko knew that she was just being bitter about her boss going over her head and getting outside help. She only really had to pick them up at the airport, drive them to the police station, and explain the case to them. In further detail then what they had been explained back from America. Her information was apparently vital to whatever they were going to end up doing to get this perp. She hadn't really been explained anything by her boss.
She took a long drag off her cigarette as they both introduced themselves to her after she had done so. She seemed to show some interest when the female who introduced herself as Misaki had said that hunting these things was what they did after all. She didn't know who they were except that they were from America and they were experts in this kind of them. She wanted to know what kind of thing they were experts in though. If her boss wouldn't tell her then she'd have to ask these kids about it even if she didn't want to.
"Yeah. Nice to meet you too." Noriko said in response to the both of them after they were done introducing themselves. "I'll just be glad to have this case solved..." She continued trying to be grateful but she'd rather be solving it herself.
She exhaled the smoke being nice enough to do it away from the both of them and waited for Misaki to load her vespa into the trunk. She thought it would be easier doing it this way rather than having her follow. She really just didn't trust the kids to follow behind her on the vespa back to the police station. She didn't know them so she didn't know if they really would or not. She looked at the both of them briefly before moving her gaze to the area about them.
It was full of people hustling about to get inside the airport and get to where they were going. This was just outside the city part of her distract. Just out of the way of all the cars and crowded sidewalks where people walked every day in few. In a way she was kind of relieved that whatever was haunting her distract would be dealt with and her people wouldn't have to worry any longer. She'd never speak this out loud though.
Noriko failed to notice the female look at her using her Soul Perception to look at her soul. She was just a normal human being with no connections to any monsters or anything. She looked back at them as she was finishing up with put the car so they could be on their way. She flicked her cigarette out of her fingers and stepped on it to make sure it was out. She just wanted to get back to her station so she could explain all the happenings to these kids.
"Close the trunk when you're done. I'll be waiting in the car." Noriko said to them as she walked around to the right side of the car and got in starting the car as she waited fro the two students.

With her Soul Perception activated, Misaki breathed a sigh of relief almost instantly. Noriko had a perfectly normal human soul which meant that she and Dion would not be committing a spontaneous murder in the middle of the street. While she was glad there wouldn’t be a repeat of their first mission, it did mean that they were in for a bit more work but that was just fine in her opinion. Nothing worth getting ever came easy, and Kishin Eggs were no different except that they weren’t what was so much as their victory over them would be. Blinking, Misaki restored her normal vision and gave Dion a crooked smile,
“All’s well in the kingdom.”
While the phrase had no particular meaning other than that their contact was not a scalpel wielding psychopath, it was the first thing that popped into Misaki’s head. Now seeing normally, the Meister took her hands off of her Vespa, painful as it was. Having to leave it in the trunk felt wrong but she’d get the chance to tear up the roadways of Tokyo at some point in search of the Kishin Egg. All she had to be was patient although that was often challenging for her. There wasn’t much she was willing to wait for, but in this case it needed to be done. She’d just be fidgety for however long it took before she and Dion could set out and actually start hunting the Kishin Egg down. Misaki jumped a bit to get her hand to the top of the trunk so she could shut it.
Apparently Noriko had grown tired of waiting for them since she was now waiting in the car. Misaki hadn’t heard her announce to them that that was what she’d be doing, but she didn’t particularly mind,
“Looks like I’m not the only one eager to get after this thing. A little tense, but she seems like she’s dedicated to her work at least.”
Misaki wasn’t criticizing her in any way, just more musing to herself now that she was out of earshot. She didn’t particularly like the woman, but she certainly didn’t dislike her. Besides, anybody who wasn’t trying to hurl scalpels at her or reign in her crazy was fine by her book. She just hoped the police woman wouldn’t take offense to them causing one or two or twenty traffic accidents in the process of catching the Kishin Egg later on. It may not be that bad, or it may windup being worse. It would all depend on what sort of creature they were facing and how many people would actually be smart enough to get the hell out of the way when they saw a tiny Japanese girl wielding a spear racing through the streets of Tokyo on a Vespa.
Nodding her head in the direction of the cars, Misaki stretched her arms over her head,
“We’d better get in before she gets out and drags us. If we’re lucky she won’t have child locks on the doors in case we need to jump out.”
With that, Misaki trotted along to the side of the car that face the road and hopped into the backseat. She’d have rathered follow along on her Vespa but she probably would’ve wound up passing the woman and speeding ahead of her and the last thing she needed was to get a ticket from the woman trying to help them. Pushing that through from her mind, she grinned at Noriko,
“All set, Itou-san!”
Noriko likely didn’t drive nearly as fast or as recklessly as Misaki, but hopefully she drove fast enough that they wouldn’t waste too much more time in traffic jams of anything.

Keeping an eye on their contact Dion generated a spear tip on one hand just in case. He wasn’t sure if she was a kishin egg or not but he wasn’t going to take any chances. In the case that Noriko was their target he wouldn’t hesitate to impale her. There was no possible way he was letting her get the advantage on them and get the first attack. Noriko wouldn’t have the chance to hurt his meister with him charging her. This time Misaki wasn’t getting hurt from some fucking monster!
Hearing his meister speak Dion breathed a sigh of relief and deactivated his partial form. Well not being ambushed by their contact would be a nice change of pace at least. It did mean finding the kishin would take longer but at least they wouldn’t be covered in scalpels at the end of the day. Technically Noriko was a police officer so bullets would be more likely but it didn’t matter now that they knew she wasn’t a kishin. With this matter out of the way they could focus on taking care of their mission without being turned on after things started to get interesting.
Misaki managed to close the trunk on her own leaving Dion to simply wait for her to be done. ”I guess that’s one way to put it. Though I still don’t get why she couldn’t just tell us here, maybe after we got in the police car. Keeping it a secret seems stupid but I can understand that but driving all the way to the police station seems like more of a waste of time.” Really now, if there was some creature going around killing people wouldn’t it be better to let people know so they could prepare themselves? And what if they passed it on the way to the station? They would have to face it with no info.
Child locks would be annoying but Dion was a bit more focused on the mission ahead. ”Hey worst case I have no problem kicking out a window.” Kicking out a window and jumping through it sounded more epic to him anyway. Hopefully it wouldn’t come to that and they could get through this interaction with more conventional methods. Going around to the other side of the car he sat down in the backseat as his meister did the same. Looking around he was ready to escape if he needed too.
Staring out the window he looked at the city around him. It was his first time in Japan after all and he did love to be in cities. Finding the kishin egg would probably be harder to do in such a crowded area but on the other hand maybe it would give him a hoe turf advantage? Not that it would do much unless Misaki was helped as well but from the first mission he couldn’t count on being lucky enough to have an easy transformation. If he had to fight on his own he was going to take the kishin down, there wouldn’t be a repeat of last time.

Noriko didn't bother reacting or even questioning just what Misaki had mean with what she said. She was too busy thinking about getting back to the headquarters to worry about what children said. Well, they weren't exactly children more like teenagers but pretty much the same thing. She just simply took another hit off her cigarette before she wondered off to the front of the car. She wanted nothing more than to get out of the airport parking lot now rather than later.
She was worried that another attack would come in while she was busy dealing with these two. That was one reason she had decided to go ahead and get back into her car. Her car wasn't as obvious as the usual squad cars as hers was more so an under cover one. The windows were tinted in a dark color and the vehicle itself was a dark blue. It didn't have lights on the top of it but the light that would enable her to let people know to get the fuck out of her way were on the dash. Her car lights did a weird job with a simple flip of a switch too.
All seemed well from what she could tell as she listened to the radio. It was all the same ol' same ol' noise that she usually heard when all was calm. She took the time while she waited for the two of them to get into the car to look at her laptop. Might as well check to make sure that she didn't get any reports while she was bothering with them as well. Everything seemed to be all calm for now not even petty theft or anything was happening, which was good.
Noriko never seemed to have to worry about doing any work unless it was something completely serious. Something like the current case she was working on and the one that required outside help. She just wanted to know why they were experts on a case like this when they were just kids. They were just kids for christ sake so why were they needed to deal with something so horrific as this legend. What the fuck was even going on anymore!?
After what seemed like forever, she heard the sound of the trunk being closed and she clicked out of the game she had started to play on her laptop. She had decided that she had been waiting too long and started a game of solitaire. It was something everyone on her force did it was completely normal. Completely normal, yep. She turned the key in the ignition and started up the care nice and easy.
"Alright then." Noriko said as she pulled on her seat belt and looked at them through her rear view mirror. "Don't forget to buckle up." She continued telling them because she was a police office after all and it was illegal to not wear one.
She took a second to take in her surroundings and looped a bit of her hair behind her ear as she did. She was still playing in her mind whether she should just start explaining what had been happening on the way to the station and then let them see the case files when they got there. The station wasn't all too from the airport so it wouldn't be that big of a deal. She went ahead and pulled forward from where she had parked to begin their car ride to the station. Well, what if they ran into the headless rider while on the way to the station then it would probably be best if she did and at his she frowned a bit.
"I assume that you two have been informed by your school or whatever about what is going on?" Noriko asked them as she looked at them quickly through the rear view mirror. "Its like a living legend you know. They said it was just a legend but how is it killing people? Just what is it?" She continued on deciding to just not beat around the bush so she could have her own questions answered.

Seatbelts, right. Those were probably a good idea considering they had a cop in their midst. Misaki generally never bothered with seatbelts but for the sake of not pissing off their contact she’d make an exception. In her opinion seatbelts would only restrict her and wind up costing them time if they wound up having to leave the car and chase after the Kishin Egg. However she also got the feeling that if she didn’t put on her seatbelt, Noriko would make her. Sliding the strap across her chest, she made sure the buckle clicked before turning and looking out the window.
Tokyo hadn’t changed all that much from what Misaki could see. She visited the city somewhat frequently since she had a number of cousins that called the place home. It was nice enough, but she’d always love Kyoto more. It was her birthplace after all. The tall buildings that reached towards the sky definitely made her feel at home, though. Most of the larger cities in Japan consisted of such things so she supposed it wasn’t too special. It still felt good to be back in her home country despite the circumstances. Maybe she could convince Dion to take a train to Kyoto for a bit after all was said and done if they weren’t too exhausted after kicking the Kishin Egg’s teeth in. It wouldn’t be like last time, they wouldn’t mess up like they had before. They were smarter now and had some experience to work with. They would not make the same mistakes they had on their first mission. They were already doing significantly better in her opinion considering the fact that they knew their contact wasn’t trying to kill them.
Hearing Noriko speak to them, Misaki turned her gaze away from the view of the city and glanced at Dion. She wasn’t sure exactly how much to tell her. She could tell the police woman was just concerned for the people living in Tokyo, and she probably had no idea just what they were up against. Misaki would rather just tell her the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. But she wasn’t sure whether or not she was supposed to do that. She didn’t want to alarm her, but that seemed inevitable. Taking a deep breath, she turned her eyes to the city once again and leaned her head against the cool glass of the car window,
“They told us the gist of what was happening. As far as what it is,”
Misaki paused for a moment and tried to think of something to say about a Kishin Egg that was accurate but not terribly descriptive,
“It’s evil, plain and simple.”
She got the feeling that she and Dion would likely wind up having to tell Noriko a bit more than that. She had that look in her eye that she could be just as stubborn and determined as the tiny Japanese girl herself, and Misaki knew that if she were in the police woman’s position that she wouldn’t be satisfied with that answer. They’d just have to think of a way to tell her what was really killing the citizens of Tokyo without causing her to completely flip her lid.

It had been a while since Dion had last been in an actual car so the reminder of seatbelts was of use. Buckling his belt Dion looked it over, nothing to bothersome. It wasn’t like taking it off would be some overly difficult task if he was in a hurry. Besides if things were really bad he could probably cut through the strap with his partial form without too many issues. The idea did seem rather hypothetical but it wasn’t impossible. After their last mission Dion was going to at least try to be as prepared as he possibly could. Getting caught off guard was not on his list of things to do here.
Staring out the window was the immediate thing that caught his attention; there was only so much in a car anyway. Trying to stay focused on the mission he thought about what the sheet had said. Overall it wasn’t very much but from the title at least he could infer that the kishin would be riding something. They had the Vespa but how useful would it be against the monster? Not wanting to drag others into it but Dion was not opposed to the idea of standing on a car to get to the kishin. Sadly that would be more dangerous for the two of them as Misaki couldn’t attach herself to the roof of the car.
Seeing his meister looking at him, or at least her reflection doing so in the window, Dion turned around. He guessed her concern was about what Noriko had just asked them? Fair enough. They didn’t want to scare off their contact by saying something too much for her. But they couldn’t just sit in silence or she would just get more pissed and make working together even more difficult. Letting his meister speak first he waited to hear how she answered things for the police officer. A simple answer but he wasn’t sure how Noriko would take be given so little information.
”They didn’t tell us much really. Why don’t you tell us what you know off the top of your head and we can fill in what we know?”
Worst case she got mad over being questioned and they found out she was just a bitch. Hopefully she could work with them and they would have a more general understanding at the least before they reached the station. Plus if they were stopped by the thing before they reached their destination they wouldn’t be completely in the dark about what they were facing. Well that was assuming she knew anything that they didn’t already. Noriko didn’t seem like she would be completely clueless so there was something to be gained for this.
”But yeah, simply put it is evil that we can stop.”
It took way too much willpower to not say tasty tasty evil but that might throw the officer off more than she already was. Dion did however lick his lips at the thought of the kishin soul. Hopefully this one wouldn’t taste like shitty hospital food.

It seemed that it wouldn't be very simple getting them to tell her. It seemed that they had the same opinion as her boss about keeping her very little informed. She could most definitely handle whatever this information was. She wasn't some stupid regular ol' police officer. She was the freaking chief of this distract of Tokyo so why was she being treated as if she was just any other person. She just wanted to know why they had to call in two kids from America to deal with something.
Just what was the black rider? Was it something so inhuman that it needed to be dealt with by other means? How were two kids going to be able to deal with it then? There had to be something more to this living legend and the two kids sitting in the back seat. She had to admit she was completely clueless when it came to things that weren't normal occurrences.
Noriko's eyebrows knitted together as they came to a stoplight and she watched the two of them through the rear view mirror. Almost like she was trying to figure out why they had the ability to get rid of something she couldn't. She'd be thankful to them yes but she wanted to know just why she could achieve the justice they could. It took her a second but she suddenly recalled her aunt's family. All her cousins seemed to have this one ability but only one had been sent off somewhere to learn about it; a school in America.
She couldn't recall the word that they said when they said she went off to go to school in America. She was almost positive she was partially in this invisible loop now though. She decided not to say anything about it unless it was necessarily important to or she needed to say it to get information on the legend. She decided though as she started the drive the car forward once more that she'd tell the legend and a bit of the information she had. Maybe this would change their mind about not telling her anything particularly useful other than that the legend was some evil that they could defeat.
"Alright then." Noriko said with a sigh. "Ever hear of the Black Rider, Misaki?" She continued asking Misaki about the legend since she was Japanese. She might have heard about it even if she wasn't from Tokyo.

Noriko didn’t seem at all satisfied jading by the way she was staring at Misaki and Dion from the rearview. Misaki slumped a bit in her seat, putting on the most innocent expression she could manage. It did nothing but make her look even more suspicious, but she couldn’t have known that. Besides, innocence wasn’t really her thing. She was usually the one running from the scene of an explosion with firecrackers in her hand and a wicked grin on her face, although not recently. If Noriko wanted a further explanation of what exactly a Kishin Egg was, Misaki could certainly give one although she wasn’t sure that would be best. The woman may never sleep again knowing what lurked in the shadows.
Hearing the police woman question her specifically, Misaki thought for a moment. The Black Rider? Raising an eyebrow, she shook her head,
“Never heard of it. From what you said earlier, Itou-san, I’m guessing it’s some sort of legend within Tokyo?”
Misaki was just assuming it was unique to Tokyo. She’d never heard of anything like it living in Kyoto. It wouldn’t surprise her too much if it was just something the city had as an urban legend. Every city and town had its own little stories floating around about ghosts and spirits and such. Kyoto was no different in this aspect, and being raised Shinto, Misaki knew quite a bit about such things. However she doubted beating the Kishin Egg would be as easy as dressing up as a shrine maiden and waving a stick at it. No, that didn’t seem at all likely. She was just being silly, although the idea was rather humorous. If only defeating Kishin Eggs were that easy, but then she supposed they wouldn’t be needed if it were.
At that moment a thought struck that sounded like something similar. Sitting up a bit straighter, Misaki leaned forwarding her seat,
“Oh wait! Is it anything like a katawa guruma?”
That would really be a sight to see. A Kishin Egg taking the form of a woman riding around on a flaming wheel. It’d certainly be a bitch and a half to catch if that was what they were dealing with, but Misaki was just guessing once again. It would also be somewhat terrifying considering the whole flaming part and the possibility of catching fire. She hoped she was wrong; she was just throwing out what her idea of what the Kishin Egg may look like out there.
Another thing that crossed her mind was Yagyo-san, but that myth had originated in America if she wasn’t mistaken. She couldn’t be sure though. All she remembered was that he was a ruthless killer that rode around on a dark horse that was missing a head.

So she was going to ignore him? That either meant she didn’t know anything about the kishin or still wasn’t willing to tell them. That meant their informant was either ignorant about what was going on or an idiot for not telling them. Maybe she really didn’t know anything because no one had explained it to her? It was possible but seemed like a pretty useless contact if that was the case. She was more like a glorified chauffer. At least they would eventually get to someone who could explain things to them so they weren’t blindly going into fight the kishin.
Referring to his partner directly and excluding him from the conversation. Well it wasn’t that terribly considering the subject matter. Of course Dion hadn’t heard of some Japanese legend so the exclusion was more a cultural thing instead of a planned one. He did wonder what she would have done if the team that took this mission hadn’t included someone who was Japanese. Guess he would never know in the end but it was an amusing thought. Even more amusing was the idea of Bang taking this mission. She would have loved being in a police car while people talked about things she didn’t understand. And he was certain Noriko would have loved to have a rocket launcher in her car and the resulting damage to the city.
Wait, maybe that was what was going on? She didn’t know that that thing was a kishin so she probably wasn’t aware of meisters and weapons either. If that was the case he hoped she was around to see him transform, a little shock value was always a good thing. At the very least he wanted to see her reaction to someone turning into a weapon right before her eyes. Sure he may not be as eccentric as a rainbow colored rocket launcher but he was sure a six foot spear would get the job done.
Seeing as the two didn’t really need his input on the subject of Japanese lore he leaned his head back and looked out the window. Sure he was going to be listening to them but if he didn’t need to there was no reason to feign interest or understanding. If he was needed it wasn’t like he would just ignore them or anything. Looking out at the city Dion was conflicted about what they were doing. Going to the police station and getting information was probably a good thing but the longer they waited the more damage the kishin could wreak. Who was he kidding? He just wanted to go out and kill shit.
