Appearance: Xolani has an oval-shaped face with a large forehead. His eyebrows are medium-thick and black, the same color as the tuffle of short black hair on top of his head (which is styled in what can be described as a frizzy pixie cut.) His large eyes are also oval-shaped and the irises peridot green. Xolani’s angular ears are large and stick out a bit on both sides. Inversely, his nose and mouth are both notably small compared to the average human’s. The way his jaw is formed has his chin come to a sort of point at the end. His skin is a darker shade of sienna brown, having an almost clay-like tone under some lights.

Xolani is very short for a full-grown man, standing only at five feet and three inches. His body is skinny with slender muscles formed from gymnastics and Shibusen training. Both his hands and feet are small, and to most people who do not know of him he most likely would not appear capable in combat. Due to his generally very youthful physical qualities, he is often mistaken for being much younger than he actually is.

A style-savvy individual, Xolani enjoys investing time and money into his clothing as well as different jewelry. He has two piercings on his left ear and one on his right, and he also enjoys wearing necklaces, anklets and bracelets. His outfits can range anywhere from ethnic to casual American, and while they may all be fashionable in some way the colors are usually muted or earthy rather than flashy.

Fighting Style: In battle, Xolani is lithe and acrobatic, holding strongly to the belief that a perfect defense is a perfect offense. His technique is precise and swift in a way that he is able to spin and flip weapons around with ease. Much of his acrobatic ability stems from his competitive gymnastics training as a child. He is also trained to utilize bladed pole weapons, such as halberds and the like, that allow him to keep the opponent at a comfortable distance (which is very important to him in order to avoid making a mess of things as much as possible.) Because of his fighting style and training, he is talented in covering a relatively large radius around him with minimal footwork (and thus can handle multiple opponents at once) and usually waits for the enemy to attack first in order to issue a counterattack. If an opponent manages to breach his radius of defense, Xolani would almost immediately backflip away to resume his method of defense.

As a way to deal with his hindering hypochondriasis, Xolani will more often than not fight through the use of his golems.  Due to the clunky build of golems, this unique fighting method of Xolani's sacrifices speed for hard-hitting strength.  His oldest and most beloved golem is Mbali, which means “flower” in Zulu. She is so old that she has grown soft moss all over her body as well as various plants. Mbali is the most reliable of Xolani’s golems in battle, as the plants growing on her help to hold the clay together with their roots while the moss deflects enemy blows.  This depicts how large she is compared to a 5'5" person.



Personality: Peaceful and serene, Xolani is a gentle soul who takes time to think through all of his decisions. His personality in combination with his Siren Soul gives off a calming aura that can tame even the most fiery of rages. He remains emotionally and mentally stable in nearly all situations that don’t involve unsanitary conditions or people disturbing his organization. His maturity is apparent by the way he handles situations with a guiding hand and as fairly as possible, and in combat he becomes deadly serious and is an effective leader for group missions.

If somebody disturbs his organization, whether it’s his strategy in battle or his office’s setup, Xolani becomes rather nervous and may come off as mean or rude as he chides the offender while motioning to fix the problem. Afterwards, he’ll most likely sigh and apologize for his words. However, once his sanitation is threatened, Xolani’s case of neuroses shows its true colors. His face would take on a look of disgust and/or horror, and then he’ll proceed to having a full-blown panic attack. Those usually involve incoherent rambling and excessive cleaning, possibly even hysterical crying if he works himself up enough.

As the guidance counselor of the school, it is in his nature to put the needs of others (especially the students’) before his own. Thus he is a wonderful listener and gives helpful life advice, and he loves to, as well. He prefers to go into situations with a plan and preparation, and it aggravates him when others try to stray from the plan of action. He never breaks the law intentionally if at all possible, and holds others to that same standard and is not above issuing proper punishments to rogue students. He tends to view himself as a parental figure to most of the students and often acts as such.

Abilities:

Siren Soul: Xolani possesses a Siren Soul, of which the general rules apply to him.  He uses his special soul to calm his partner in battle and the students who come to visit him seeking guidance.  Due to his Siren Soul, he has been able to achieve soul resonances with his weapon partner relatively easily.

Soul Purge: In the case that an enemy does manage to get up close with Xolani, his first instinct would be to freak out and retort with his Soul Purge.  He would only initiate physical contact with a clothed body part, i.e. his fists if he has his gloves on or his feet if he is wearing closed-toe shoes.  Because of his aversion to hand-to-hand combat, he would most likely put everything into one blow in order to launch the opponent as far and as quickly away from him as possible.  As a result of his Siren Soul, his Soul Purge also causes a numbing effect in the target.

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder: Xolani's OCD mainly manifests itself as excessive organizing, washing and cleaning, the latter of which is only further exacerbated by his Hypochondriasis.  He is never found without a bottle of hand sanitizer, whether it is portable and attached to his belt loop or sitting on multiple surfaces in his spotless office.  Several other symptoms include his high attention to detail, avoidance of risk, careful planning, exaggerated sense of responsibility and a tendency to take time in making decisions.  In some ways his OCD has helped him to excel during his time as a Shibusen student and even now as a teacher.

Hypochondriasis: In addition to Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Xolani is also plagued by his Hypochondriasis, which is defined as the excessive preoccupancy or worry about having a serious illness.  His obsession with cleanliness is caused by the combination of both of his conditions, but his Hypochondriasis specifically determines his reactions whenever his cleanliness is threatened or disturbed.  If confronted with unsanitary situations, Xolani's usual calm demeanor will deteriorate and reveal his more neurotic side.  He may start to panic in the more intense cases (i.e. falling in mud or being sneezed on) during which he will begin to ramble on about how he's going to contract some deadly disease, followed up by what might be hours of showering, laundry and/or cleaning.  Few people can calm him down once he is in full panic, as the only one who has ever been able to successfully help lessen the severity of his panic attacks is his weapon partner and husband.

Xolani’s hypochondriasis is one of his most hindering weaknesses in combat. If his cleanliness becomes even slightly soiled, whether by blood or dirt or something else he deems unsanitary, his concentration will break and his attention directed away from his opponent.
