This was practically an insult to Levi! Sure he may not be the greatest at controlling his wavelength, not that he would ever admit that to anyone, but this was ridiculous and downright stupid. What was so bad about him letting out the occasional spark, or sparks, of his wavelength at random and inopportune times? It wasn’t like he had hurt anyone that badly from it! Besides, if everyone else was a commoner anyway so what did it matter if he happened to injure one or three? They would get over it eventually and learn not to mess with him as a plus.
It would have been one thing if the teacher that had started this whole thing had volunteered to help him but no; they had to degrade him more by forcing him to work with a peasant! To add more insult to the situation it wasn’t even someone who looked like they would be a decent match for him. Levi didn’t care if she was some fancy technician who had already expanded her own abilities and managed to achieve a resonance, she was still a girl and a peasant! Knowledge of wavelengths didn’t mean that she would be able to help him.
Unfortunately he had little choice in the matter. He could always just not meet with the girl but she would probably tell the teacher and the matter would only get dragged on longer than necessary. Better to just show up and humor the commoners for the time and get the whole thing over with. Tolerate the situation, possibly show why his wavelength far outclassed the peasant’s knowledge, and leave without incident. He couldn’t blame her if she didn’t want to spar with him after seeing how brilliant and powerful his soul and the subsequent wavelength was. It wasn’t like his wavelength tended to spark just for the hell of it.
Despite his disdain for the idea Levi still headed for the set meeting spot. Of course it would just be the little dojo the school had set up, no other really school sanctioned place for training after all. A waste of time maybe but it wasn’t like he was doing anything else of importance to begin with. A quick encounter with the peasant shouldn’t lead to fighting and then he could just return home and get some actual training done instead of this waste of his expensive time.
Having returned to his old habit of carrying his sword with him wherever he went Levi ran a finger along the sheathed Zegen as he walked toward the dojo. In his usual attire Levi ascended the stairs that led to the school at an average pace for himself but one that would seem unnecessarily fast for a worthless commoner. Reaching the top he looked back at the city beneath him and sighed. The city was in its proper place compared to him but he would much rather have been looking down onto his own kingdom instead of this less worthy American city.
Gracing the dojo with his presence he was kind enough to remove his sword for the moment and place it against the wall. Looking around he saw nothing of interest which meant he would have to wait for the arrival of the peasant before he could leave this pathetic place. For the time he walked over to a punching bag that was a sickly blue color, one he was all too familiar with. Grimacing at the bag he gathered his wavelength into his fist and punched it. The worthless thing fell over of course and his fist sparked for a moment afterwards.
Levi looked down at his fist as the last straggling wisp of his wavelength jumped off his skin. That didn’t look like there was anything wrong with is soul purge to him. A bit of a post-impact discharge but that didn’t mean anything. His attack was just as strong as ever and worked just fine. Hell, his soul purges were stronger than most of the commoners he saw. So then why did he have to go through this waste of his time because the teacher said there was something wrong? Pondering this question Levi stood next to the fallen punching bag while he waited for his assigned ‘partner’ to show up.

This would be a fun day; Misaki could feel it in her bones. She’d been recruited by one of the teachers to help a fellow student at Shibusen, something about wavelength control apparently. They couldn’t have picked someone better in her opinion, she knew all about wavelength control after all. Not only did she have a kickass resonance with Dion, but with her Pulse Wavelength she of course had learned how to handle her wavelength quite well what with the whole extra amount of energy thing. Packing that little extra punch with her Resonances and Soul Purges were awesome, and she was reasonably certain it also helped keep her Soul Perception so clear even though she was still working on it. She’d only learned it recently, but she didn’t have a doubt in her mind that she would soon be just as awesome with it as everything else. Getting to Shibusen was no problem. On any average day she’d drive her Vespa through the streets causing havoc and mayhem for everyone within a five mile radius, but she didn’t feel like hauling the piece of machinery up the school steps nor did she feel like finding a hiding place for it in an alleyway. Misaki didn’t mind walking since her apartment wasn’t that far from Shibusen itself. Moving along at a brisk walk, her thoughts drifted to the student she was supposed to be helping. He was a fellow Meister of course; she couldn’t imagine that assigning her to help a Weapon would have worked very well at all. That and it didn’t make any sense whatsoever but she was distracting herself now. The teacher had of course explained that being a Meister who not only had a kickass wavelength like hers but also had a Resonance with her Weapon had made her a clear choice. Misaki of course had said she would be happy to help, which she was. As she reached the steps leading up to Shibusen, Misaki paused and took a few deep breaths. She made sure that her shoelaces were still tied to avoid any potential accidents that could end with her in the hospital before grinning and starting up the enormous staircase. She was used to traversing the steps by now so that she climbed them with ease and at a rather quick pace. If anything it would get her warmed up for what was sure to wind up being a kind of sparring match between her and whoever this other Meister was. There were several ways to go about bettering one’s control over their own wavelength. Misaki preferred trial and error in the way of beating the ever loving fuck out of an inanimate object, but she would of course take into considering whatever her fellow student wanted to do. Upon reached the top, Misaki stretched her arms over her head and turned to briefly look out onto Death City. The view from the top of the great staircase was no doubt a gorgeous one. It vaguely reminded her of the view from the top of the Space Needle back in Seattle. Satisfied that she’d posed long enough to look badass to any potential onlookers, Misaki moved along towards the small dojo that the students of Shibusen used to better their fighting skills. Thinking a bit, she realized she’d never actually visited the place. Maybe she’d do that more often depending on how this whole wavelength session went and how durable the place looked. She couldn’t let her Karate skills fall out of practice after all. Walking in with her signature wicked grin on her face, she took a look around. The first thing she noticed was the sword leaning against the wall near the entrance. She’d never seen anything like it and raised an eyebrow at its presence before moving along. Taking a look around, she next spotted the boy she assumed she would be teaching. Placing her hands on her hips, Misaki grinned at him, “I’m gonna take a wild guess and say that you’re the Meister I’m supposed to be teaching wavelength control.”Glancing at the fallen punching bag beside the green haired individual, Misaki wondered just what about his wavelength needed controlling. If he could knock down a punching bag no problem, then he was at least as good as her with Soul Purge. Then again, she assumed she would soon find out.

Levi heard the footsteps, of course, but did not bother to look at the approaching figure. Maybe if it was the girl he was waiting for they would walk in and see him and promptly leave upon realizing that he did not need any fucking help with anything. Hearing them stop and not leave Levi begrudgingly looked at the girl who had been assigned to teach him. Seeing what she looked like Levi was less than impressed at the selection of the teacher. How was some tiny little Asian girl going to help him get better at controlling his soul wavelength? They could have at least picked someone who looked like they had something to offer him.
At her words Levi cringed. It didn’t matter that she was technically supposed to help him improve his wavelength control but the fact that she said as such annoyed him. That assumed superiority that came from the words she said. She could have said helping even if that still would have pissed him off but to say that she was teaching him made it seem like he didn’t have any control of his wavelength at all. Though if she seemed so confident at teaching him she may actually have some worthwhile thing to teach him.
”Well that depends on if you have anything worth teaching.”
Attempting to control his response was a vain attempt as he was going to say what he was going to say regardless. He wasn’t the most thrilled to be receiving help in any form, let alone from some little girl who didn’t even look as skilled as he was in what she was supposed to be teaching him. His wavelength control was already great in his eyes so there was no point in getting help from some commoner in something he was already great at.
”I don’t know why this whole thing was set up. I already have great wavelength control and that isn’t going to get better from someone like you trying to teach me something.”
It would at least take someone who was better than him in wavelength control to teach him something and he was the best at everything so that meant he didn’t need anyone to teach him. That was perfect logic as he had thought of it so it must be true. The teacher must have known this as well as they didn’t volunteer themselves to try and futilely assist him and sent out some girl scapegoat instead. Hopefully she would be sensible and they could both leave this without wasting too much of his time. Though she was getting to be in his presence so he couldn’t blame her for not wanting to leave.
Stepping on the fallen punching bag he moved it up to how it was before he punched it. Not that Levi would be caught cleaning but he did have every intention of knocking it down again before he left. With that done it was just a matter of being rid of the girl.
”So babe how about we just wrap this up and say you tried?”
It seemed like a good idea to him. The girl couldn’t be blamed for not being able to teach him anything when he was already as awesome as he was.

Ah, so that was how it was gonna be? Misaki was almost reminded of Yuu in the way that the green haired boy talked to her, but even her brother wasn’t this egotistical. He mustn’t have known who she was if he was questioning what she had to teach. Please, she had teachings coming out of her ears, it just so happened that they were here to focus on wavelength in particular. From the looks of this boy, Misaki could tell that he was bigger and stronger than her, most likely by a lot. That didn’t really worry her much, though. She’d knocked her brother flat on his ass plenty of times and had the same advantage of being taller and weighing more that this guy did.
As he continued to speak, Misaki snickered and shook her head,
“Sure, sure. You have such fantastic wavelength control the teacher thought it necessary that I try to teach you a thing or two about reining it in. Yeah, my mistake.”
Okay so maybe sarcasm wasn’t the best thing in this situation but Misaki just couldn’t help herself. She’d never been very good at holding her tongue, and if this guy was anything like her, sarcasm would provoke him so at least she could see what he could do before she started trying to coach him. While it was almost that she was cruising for a bruising, she wasn’t too worried. He may be stronger, but something told her that she was faster which hopefully meant dodging would be her best friend during this little practice session.
Watching him pick up the knocked over punching bag and place it back where it belonged, she rolled her eyes at suggesting they quit. He really didn’t know her, that was unfortunate. She was Misaki Saito, giving up without trying wasn’t something she was familiar with. That wicked grin of hers spread across her face as she shook her head,
“No can do. I’m here to assist you with wavelength control, and that’s what I’m going to do. Trust me, if anybody knows a thing or two about wavelength control it’s me. Having a Pulse Wavelength like mine means I learned this stuff early on, plus the whole fact that I’ve got a kickass Resonance in addition to Soul Purge and Soul Perception.”
She took a few steps towards him before stopped and placing both hands on her hips,
“The name’s Misaki Saito, but enough about me. Let’s hear about what you can do. What about your wavelength needs controlling?”
She nodded at the punching bag,
“If you could knock that down before I got here, you’re obviously more than capable of a rockin' soul purge, so what’s the issue?”
A little flattery never hurt anyone. That and if the sarcasm didn't get him to wake up and realize that he was here for a reason, then maybe her recognizing that he obviously had talent would do the trick instead. Misaki knew she could teach him, she just needed him to accept that fact first otherwise this would be a very difficult, uphill battle.

Well at least it seemed like the girl understood him. It was only natural for a commoner to make a mistake like that. Thinking he was in need of instruction was a faulty line of logic in and of itself but how was a lowly peasant supposed to know this? Of course this was in reality Levi inability to understand sarcasm but he wasn’t aware of that. Besides why would such sincere and accurate comments be sarcasm? That was the real mystery that didn’t make any sense to him! Maybe it was just a peasant thing as they couldn’t understand the refined mindset of someone such as himself.
Sadly she didn’t seem to be that prone to reason. Levi was offering her the chance to just leave and go back to whatever it was that poor people did but she just wouldn’t listen. It was a shame really since things could have been over so simply and with no waste of his time. Perhaps it was only that she needed a demonstration of how amazing his wavelength was before she gave up and ended this foolish situation? Well that could easily be arranged and executed in spectacular fashion with his vibrant wavelength.
Oh so she wasn’t just some average commoner girl that was sent to assist him? Well that was at least a little comforting. She may have had some special wavelength but Levi could care less about specialties of commoners, they still amounted to little before him. It was common sense to believe that she was a user of soul purge but finding out that she had soul perception as well was a tad bit interesting. He had never put much stock or effort into that skill and didn’t personally find it that appealing. Why care whether you can see the kishin or not as long as you can punch it?
The on the e thing that sort of caught his interest was hearing that she had a resonance. That meant she had surpassed him in two counts. She managed to find a weapon partner and establish a resonance with them. Levi knew he was just too great for all these mediocre weapons and that was the only reason he had not found one of his own yet. Plus he couldn’t bare the idea of touching some filthy common weapon or anything pathetic like some sort of gun or other coward’s range weapon.
She introduced herself, incorrectly, so at least she wasn’t trying to challenge his greatness. It would have been better if she had properly bowed upon addressing him but after dealing with so many commoners he was starting to not expect the correct reactions. The question was stupid as there was nothing wrong with his wavelength control. She had the sense to know that he could clearly soul purge perfectly by how he had knocked the punching bag over but her commoner mind couldn’t put two and two together and realize that he had perfect wavelength.
He huffed before addressing her.
”Levi Kastein, perhaps you’ve heard of me.”
He did have a way of getting attention while traveling around the city, just what he was looking for.
”There is nothing about my wavelength that needs help. As I’ve told you and you said yourself, I am more than capable of using soul purge without assistance. But to get this over with allow me to demonstrate what we already know. Watch well peasant because it isn’t every day you get to gaze upon the soul of royalty.”
He figured she would use her soul perception but if she was too stupid to do so on her own there was no point in telling her. Flexing his hand platinum sparks leaped between his fingers as he began to gather his wavelength into his hand. Sporadically they jumped off his hand only to dissipate in the air a moment later. Gathering enough wavelength he pulled his arm back to punch the punching bag and did so. His fist made contact and the wavelength erupted into the bag like any other soul purge. However as the bag repeated its fall the wavelength sparked around his fist still before slowly being reabsorbed into his body.
Levi’s problem was that he couldn’t fully control his wavelength any more than a possible NOT student but his wavelength was so strong and he had so much of it that one couldn’t tell just by seeing his soul purge. Weak in control but compensated by power. His wavelength only loosely gathered when he used it and was so easily broken that he didn’t manage to make use of as much as he was gathering. Turning back to Misaki he motioned to the punching bag as if that explained everything.
”See? I told you there wasn’t anything wrong.”

Misaki searched her memory for the boy’s name but didn’t come up with anything. Shrugging her shoulders, her grin stayed in place,
“Nope, never heard of you. Nice to meetcha though!”
Misaki didn’t mind that Levi was very obviously full of himself. She wasn’t exactly what one could call humble, so she really couldn’t antagonize him for being so egotistical. The more he talked, though, the more Misaki was seeing that this was going to be a challenge. She couldn’t help Levi if he wouldn’t let her, but she hadn’t even seen him utilize his wavelength yet. Maybe he was right, maybe there was nothing wrong and the teacher was overreacting. However that was unlikely since if that was really the case neither of them would be there.
Royalty? Oh, that would explain a lot. Misaki glanced back at the sword she’d passed on her way in. Yup, if this kid was royalty that definitely explained a lot. Rolling her eyes, the tiny Japanese girl inwardly sighed and tried to think of the best way to handle a self-centered princeling. Moving right along, he was right that it seemed he could use Soul Purge without any real issues. That wasn’t why they were at the dojo, though. It didn’t matter that he could use Soul Purge, what mattered was what his wavelength was doing when he did use it.
Misaki stepped back a bit for the demonstration, just in case his wavelength exploded. She was sure that probably wouldn’t happen, but better safe than sorry. In order to help him control his wavelength, she’d need to be able to see what it was doing. Luckily, she had Soul Perception for that. Closing her eyes, the tiny Japanese girl focused for a moment before reopening them. While her ability was still mediocre at best, she could still see what was happening. For one, she’d certainly never seen a soul like his before. It wasn’t everyday there were gems in a soul, but she supposed that could be related to what he’d referred to as “the soul of royalty” before.
Watching Levi’s wavelength closely as he used Soul Purge to knock the punching bag down again, Misaki pursed her lips. Yeah, this was gonna be an interesting lesson alright. If anything, she was surprised. Since Levi had a Soul Purge that could knock down a punching bag with ease, she hadn’t expected his wavelength to gather so loosely. It was sporadic when it gathered, but with the power behind it she hypothesized that his soul must be a bit like hers in that it added extra power to things like Soul Purge. He couldn’t control it very well, but this was compensated by a power boost. Interesting to say the least. Misaki closed her eyes again, turning her vision back to normal as Levi once again insisted there was no reason he needed help. Sighing, Misaki crossed her arms,
“I’m afraid I’m gonna have to call bullshit on that, Ōji-sama. You’re Soul Purge is powerful, that much is true. Your wavelength is a different story though; you definitely need to learn to control it better.”
Addressing him as a prince seemed right in Misaki’s mind. He was way too young to be a king as far as she knew, and he was way too full of himself to be a duke or an earl. The real issue would be getting him to listen to her. She knew she could do it; she just had to figure out how.

What was this travesty? This peasant had not heard of the greatness that was him? Clearly Levi would have to be a bit more active in getting his name to spread around the city. It was no wonder she was so adamant about working with him if she was so deprived of his existence. If that was the case it was only proper to at least humor the girl so that she wouldn’t be living such an empty life. He was such a gracious prince with all this community service he did to enrich the lives of his subjects. He should get a trophy for this, or better yet a crown.
For a commoner she at least had the sense to keep her distance from him when he used his soul purge. There wouldn’t be any accidents on his part but his soul purge was just so powerful he couldn’t be held responsible if people just got hurt from being around it. A wild spark of his wavelength could always go flying and hit whatever commoner it chooses. His power was just too much to limit like that. He figured the girl would have used soul perception during his great showing but he had no way of knowing. Soul perception wasn’t something he was interested it.
He wasn’t sure why she was crossing her arms like that or what the sighing was for. Clearly it was too much to see how wonderful his soul was and she was simply in awe of such an amazing thing that she had the fortune to witness. Of course then she started talking and saying nonsense. He wasn’t sure what exactly she had called him but he assumed it was something endearing that peasants used. But what could she possibly be calling bullshit on? Her words made little sense after he had clearly just proved her wrong.
”What are you talking about? How could MY wavelength be faulty especially when my soul purge is clearly more than strong enough?”
Her words didn’t make any sense when he had just contradicted her. A weak wavelength he couldn’t believe but when his soul purges were excellent a weak wavelength made absolutely no sense to him. Now if his purges were suffering than maybe he could believe such an outrageous claim. The only issue he had noticed was the occasional discharge of wavelength but that was nothing to worry about! He was just too strong to restrain his amazing wavelength.
Perhaps her soul perception was what was faulty? He didn’t put much stock in something he thought of as a pathetic skill. What use was seeing other people’s souls when you could just soul purge them and not waste the time. Maybe it was useful if you were a cowardly technician who used some kind of pathetic ranged weapon. Maybe that was the case with her and why she didn’t understand how amazing his wavelength was. Close combat was where he excelled but he couldn’t expect a peasant to understand.

Levi’s reaction was understandable. In any other circumstance, a Soul Purge like the one he’d just demonstrated wouldn’t have been possible with how loosely his wavelength was gathering. Pausing a moment, Misaki tapped a finger to her chin and thought about just how to go about explaining what was going on. She was dealing with an egotistical prince who clearly had a thick skull when it came to listening to others. Still, she was there to help him, and that was exactly what she was going to do to the best of her abilities. After a few minutes, she clapped her hands together and took a deep breath,
“Here’s the deal: your wavelength doesn’t gather like you’d expect from a Soul Purge like that. The reason for that is pretty obviously your soul. I’ve never seen anything like it before, and I’m guessing is gives you something similar but more powerful than my Pulse Wavelength. It’s like…oh, what’s a good metaphor?”
Misaki paused and scratched the back of her head trying to think of a good metaphor. After a bit of a rushed thought process she got one,
“It’s like a train! A train doesn’t have to be moving at top speed to completely pulverize a car because it’s a fucking train; it’s got more weight and power behind it. Your wavelength doesn’t gather when you’re working up to a Soul Purge, but you’re still able to knock the punching bag down because your wavelength packs an extra punch. If someone who didn’t have your wavelength tried to pull off a Soul Purge by only loosely gathering their wavelength, they’d either fail or it’d be completely wimpy.”
The tiny Japanese girl nodded to herself, definitely proud with how she was doing so far,
“Another thing that comes with a loosely wavelength is that it can be somewhat difficult to control. If you aren’t careful sparks are gonna start flying and you could wind up hurting someone without meaning to which is most likely why the teacher wanted me to assist you in learning better wavelength control.”
Misaki’s signature wicked grin crept onto her face. Stepping forward, she picked up the punching bag and set it back up,
“The good news is that it’s a relatively easy fix, Ōji-sama! Even better is that with better wavelength control, you’re Soul Purge won’t just knock down this punching bag so much as it’ll send it flying into the wall.”
She patted that punching bag for emphasis and gave the prince a confident smile. Hopefully her little speech had gotten through to him otherwise she’d have to think of another way to convince him to let her teach him. In her mind the solution was very simple but she supposed some of the toughest tasks seemed simple in the beginning. Still, she hoped he’d been listening rather than tuning out her voice until it was all just pops and clicks.

So the girl wasn’t going to just give up on this futile venture then? It would be so much easier if she understood the situation and just gave up on trying to do the impossible. Levi would humor her once more to show his overflowing mercy onto his subjects. Really he was just being so generous to all these peasants they should revere him more. Oh the burden of being royalty and giving pity to all those beneath you. It was hard work but Levi excelled at it like he did in all things. If only the peasants would cooperate with him more.
One final attempt at an explanation seemed merciful enough for Levi. The girl started off decently, Levi just was different from commoners so of course his soul purge was different from what she knew. It was good to hear that his soul was so awe inspiring to the lower classes; of course he already knew his soul was but it was nice to hear it. She was so good until the attempted comparison of his magnificent soul to her commoner soul. He didn’t care if she had some special peasant wavelength it was still in a whole different tier than his.
Levi stood with his arms crossed as the girl attempted to persuade him. So far she wasn’t doing a very good job but he would still listen for a while before simply leaving. Oh what was this? Finally she was getting to something sensible. A train was a much better comparison for him instead of some low ranked commoner. Ha of course he was awesome and others couldn’t imitate him! Well that was what he got out of the girl’s explanation anyway so let’s go with that. He was doing the impossible with his own power!
Well her reasoning seemed to be holding up considering she mentioned the sparks. He simply figured that was due to his wavelength being insanely powerful. It hadn’t caused him too many issues so he didn’t bother with worrying about it. If he could rein in the sparking that would be a good thing especially if it came with making his soul purges more powerful. If it wasn’t too much work he might as well at least attempt to try this control thing that was being suggested. It had the potential to benefit him so it shouldn’t be a total waste of his time.
Looking at the girl Levi remained in the same position with his arms crossed for a moment.
”Alright I guess I can entertain your theory. So what do you have in mind for this apparent training?”
He was willing to give it a try and see how things went. Best case he ended up stronger than ever and got the teacher off his fucking back. Worse case he left bored with no gain. Seemed like pretty decent odds for him and it would count as some training time even if it was more soul than physical training.

How to go about training Levi to control his wavelength was indeed the question of the day. Misaki paused for a moment, taking on her earlier image of contemplation and tapping a finger to her chin. What to do, what to do. It was a very simple concept to her but now she had to teach it to someone, and that someone happened to be an egotistical princeling. She really did have quite the exciting life it seemed. After thinking for a few minutes, she came to a few possible solutions.
The first way Misaki thought of that would certainly get the prince more in tune with his wavelength would be meditation. However she scrapped that idea almost as soon as she’d thought of it. For one, that took more time than either of them probably wanted to give to this little training session. Second, Levi really didn’t seem the type to meditate and he’d probably laugh in her face if she suggested it. Whatever, on to the next possible solution, which was very simple and probably would work the best.
Misaki hypothesized that if Levi maybe spent more time winding up for a Soul Purge that his wavelength would quite possibly begin to gather more on its own. The more focus he put in, the more output he’d get, it was a fairly simple idea and certainly easy enough to test. It would also help if she could somehow get him more in tune with his wavelength, but she had the feeling that may take some convincing since it involved being still for several moments, or at least it did in her experience. Having an answer, Misaki clapped her hands together and grinned,
“Alright! I think the most straightforward approach is as follows,”
Misaki stood before the punching bag and took a fighting stance,
“Use your Soul Purge again, but this time pause when your winding to gather your wavelength a bit more.”
The tiny Japanese girl drew her arm back and made a fist, closing her eyes as she did so. This was a walk in the park for her, demonstrating just seemed the necessary thing to do since she was technically the teacher in this case. Gathering her wavelength for a few moments, she then opened her eyes,
“Try to feel when it builds up, and then release it.”
Misaki punched the training device before her and sent her wavelength rocketing into it, effectively knocking it down and sending it skidding several feet back. Levi would obviously get more of a reaction than that considering her hit like a god damn train, but Misaki was still pleased with her result. Wandering over, she picked up the poor punching bag and replaced it before looking at Levi with a grin on her face,
“That about covers it. You’re turn, Ōji-sama.”

Thinking of an acceptable method of training for him appeared to pose a challenge for the girl. He couldn’t expect much less considering she was speaking to the great Levi Kastein. She was probably too star struck to think properly on top of the task of designing a method that would work for royalty. It was a difficult situation but it had been her idea so he would let her deal with it. His time would be spent entertaining the most likely absurd idea that a commoner would think of. He should appeal to his public a bit more anyway so this would be a great time to start.
Oh was the peasant going to speak? It seemed like she was so what idea did she feel was worth gracing his ears with? A straightforward approach? Maybe she did have a little bit of sense about her! Alright he could go along with her plan if she was actually going to be thinking properly about how to aid someone of his position. Levi listened to her speak and was honestly impressed to a degree; she had sense that most peasants seemed to lack. Done Levi pondered over what she said.
”Hmp! That sounds tolerable enough. Now step aside and watch how a prince does it.”
Looking at his right hand he curled his fingers and uncurled them a few times. What she said made sense but if he by some chance failed he would look pathetic in front of a commoner. That was unacceptable and completely out of the question! Closing his eyes he focused on his hand and continued to move his fingers. He could feel the wavelength course into his palm and cover his hand but it wasn’t good enough! Concentrating he went through to fill his fist entirely with wavelength.
More, he needed more! Grimacing he continued to focus and control his wavelength. A few flares of wavelength spread up his fingers and he clamped his hand into a fist instantly. Visualizing the wavelength around his fist it grew and contracted. Now the sparks seemed to be replaced with arcs of wavelength that traveled around his fist but didn’t flare away. Growing brighter the more he focused they stopped at a bright platinum color and Levi seemed to click like this had been trained to him from the beginning. Opening his eyes he quickly turned to the punching bag and punched.
His punch looked like a normal soul purge, albeit much brighter, on the surface but on the soul level that changed. Instead of branching out along his body the wavelength travelled in a steady stream to his fist. The gems on his souls seemed to be glowing slightly as well and the mass quantities of wavelength was generated from them. Upon contact with the bag the wavelength stopped being made and all that had gathered into his fist was released in one quick burst. A few strands attempted to return to him but they were taken with the rest and directed into the punching bag.
In one impact the punching bag took on the concentrated wavelength of Levi, and was instantly subject to the effects. The first and most noticeable was that it wasn’t where it had been the second beforehand. Weight be damned that poor punching bag was practically dragged across the floor by the wavelength and slammed into the wall with a resounding thud. A fist shaped scorch mark had appeared on the front and as the momentum caught up and the bag fell forward a noticeable dent, if only fist sized, made its appearance on the wall. Levi shook his hand once and let his fist relax and no sparks jumped off in the process.
”Well you might just have had something there babe.”
With his hand by his side he clenched it into a fist and relaxed it a few times to try and get the feeling back into his now numb hand. He could feel his wavelength now and he could tell it was different than how it had been. Now actual paths were forming for his wavelength to traverse instead of it just going where it pleased. It wasn’t yet natural to him and he would need to practice a bit more before this became second nature. Not that he couldn’t expunge a little control now and then to get that even more powerful soul purge to happen. Even now he could feel that it wouldn’t be a constant thing.
Not terribly exhausted yet he faced the girl and waited. He would at least let her speak more if she had anything else to say but as far as he was concerned they were finished. That soul purge should have been all the proof anyone needed and that meant he could leave and go train his wavelength more, along with other things to prevent his hand from losing feeling too much.
”Anything else before we end this?”

Misaki’s demonstration appeared to have gotten through to Levi. Excellent! That meant she wouldn’t have to waste anymore time trying to convince him to go along with the whole training thing. This was going way better than she’d originally expected given how he’d acted when she’d first arrived. Then again she supposed she wouldn’t be too keen on taking advice from someone she didn’t know without a demonstration. Seeing that she was actually capable and qualified to instruct him on what to do probably helped at least a little in convincing him to listen to her, but that was besides the point. Now it was her turn to stand back and watch again. The tiny Japanese girl smiled and bowed slightly before taking a few quick steps back. She may as well humor him for the remaining time they had to spend together.
A safe distance away from any potential sparks, Misaki once again decided she ought to use her Soul Perception on the prince; just to be sure he had the technique down. Seeing the punching bag go flying would be a good indicator, but she had to be sure his wavelength was gathering like it was supposed to. The tiny Japanese girl closed her eyes for a brief moment. Upon reopening them her eyes were drawn to Levi’s soul. Crossing her arms, she watched him execute the Soul Purge.
To be honest, she was surprised that he didn’t just try to throw the punch immediately. No, instead she stood there a moment curling and uncurling his fingers. Misaki narrowed her eyes and watched closely. Slowly but surely, his wavelength began to gather in his hand. Interesting. Not something that she would have thought to demonstrate, but definitely an effective method to be sure. Maybe he was smarter than he looked. When the prince did make his hand into a fist, there was definitely improvement. Rather than the sparks Misaki had expected to see, there were concentrated arcs of wavelength. These stuck to traveling over his hand, never straying. Even better was that she could see his wavelength gather around his fist and staying there, keeping much better than it had previously.
Satisfied, Misaki closed her eyes to deactivate her Soul Perception and watched Levi send the punching bag flying. It was a sight to see, that was for sure. It was like it weighed nothing at all as it travelled across the room and hit the wall with a dull thud. Misaki jumped up and clapped her hands, grinning like a maniac,
“Yes! That was perfect!”
Misaki couldn’t think of anything else that necessarily needed to be done. In the future, the prince could probably train more and become even more powerful, but for now she’d done all that the teacher told her to do. Misaki had been asked to teach Levi better wavelength control, and she’d done just that. Proud grin still on her face, she shook her head,
“Nope, not a thing. I can safely say that you have learned better wavelength control, Ōji-sama. Excellent work.”
Levi hardly needed an ego boost, but Misaki was still proud of him. Then again she was also proud of herself for being able to teach him successfully, not that she’d had much doubt. She was Misaki Saito, she could teach a cat to speak Spanish if she put her mind to it. Probably.

He didn’t think that the correction to his wavelength was that spectacular but he wasn’t going to dismiss the fanfare. It was only natural though that those lower than him would act in such a manner when encountering something as amazing as royalty performing anything. The fact that she could do her own soul purge just made royalty doing it that much more impressive, or so he figured. Levi wasn’t an expert on how exactly commoners worked yet and he didn’t have any great desire to put effort into learning. He would figure them out enough eventually when they came to understand his awesomness! Grinning at his cheering section Levi cracked his knuckles.
”I guess, of course that was hardly something to be doubted.”
It was foolish to think that anything Levi did would be any less than perfect. His soul purges had already been perfect before this little training session for example but now he was just more than perfect. Levi was the step above perfection that lowly peasants just couldn’t comprehend with their lower class of thinking. It was a tough job having to be an eternal symbol to these commoners but it was Levi’s way of helping them.
At the girl’s words that they were indeed done Levi was somewhat more relaxed. Now he could go back to his current residence and rest while his wavelength adjusted to this shift. Turning he walked away from Misaki and picked up his sword that was so unceremoniously placed against a wall. It was a shame he hadn’t had a proper place to put it but it would have to deal. Returning the outrageously gaudy sword to his side he returned to the girl in his complete prince attire, as no prince was complete without his blade.
”Well then let’s not waste any more time of each other’s time.”
Think Levi tried to figure out what would be a good way to end this whole interaction. On one hand she had helped him learn about his wavelength and that would be very important to him as he made his presence known around Shibusen. Though on the other hand she was a commoner and therefore beneath him. It was quite the dilemma for him but Levi would think of some way out of it as he was the great Levi Kastein! Just a little more and Ah that would work perfectly!
Lifting his glasses at her he looked down at Misaki.
”Good work aiding the prince Misaki.”
Not exactly a compliment but the closest anyone could hope to get from Levi. Just the fact that he had even referred to her by her name was something worth being excited about. Done with his show of gratitude Levi let his glasses fall over his eyes again and turn dramatically to the door. Getting his jacket to swoosh behind him like a cape was a trained skill he learned. With that done he walked out of the dojo with his usual heavy footsteps to detract from his prince title. Despite what he acted he desired to return to his house and get the feeling back in his hand. He was sure it would be fine but that one punch had taken more out of him than he expected. Done he would rest for the time and return to school as even more of a badass!
