Streamers? Check. Tape? Check. Ribbons? Check. Misaki didn’t really think she needed anything else. Her task was fairly simple after all: get Dion to go to the dance with her. Currently seated on her bed, Misaki stared at the materials before her and wondered just what to do. She could spray paint something on his wall, but that would probably make him mad. Or confused. Or both. Besides, then they’d have to paint over it and that would be expensive. With that idea out of the question, Misaki tried to think of something else. Picking up a strand of ribbon and twirling it around her fingers, an idea struck her. She had left over birthday decorations for some reason simply lying around in her closet. Grinning, the tiny Japanese girl leapt up from where she was and sprinted to the door, throwing it open and diving into the mess of jackets and feather boas. For a while, Misaki wasn’t visible. All one could see through the open closet door was a pile of feather boas and jackets and what appeared to be a stuffed octopus while a mysterious lump moved about beneath. At last, she found what she was looking for and burst forth in a flurry of feathers, bag of paper letters in hand. Snickering, Misaki now only had to sneak into Dion’s room without him noticing. If she was right, he was in the living room doing Dion things. She wasn’t sure. Still, she’d rather not be running around looking suspicious. She wanted to have the element of surprise after all. Scooping up her tools of asking, she stuffed them all in a messenger bag that slung over her shoulder. She’d need her very best ninja face for this! Running over to her door, she stood beside it and pressed her back against the wall, listening. She couldn’t hear anything that sounded like footsteps coming her way which was good. Maybe she would just hang things up on the door instead? That seemed easier, but Misaki had made up her mind. Besides, she felt like a secret agent if she went through with her sneaking around. Slowly, she opened the door and peered out. Dion was nowhere in sight. Snickering, she slipped out of her room and shut the door behind her as silently as possible. She could not afford to make noise otherwise her position would be compromised. Certain she was being ever so sneaky, Misaki tip toed across the hall to Dion’s room. Looking like some deranged ninja creep; she opened the door silently and crept inside. She left it open so that she could get out quickly if she were caught. As she contemplated which wall to vandalize, Misaki paused mid-step. There was an even better way. He’d have to see it eventually if she did that. Resisting the urge to cackle at the sheer brilliance of her plan, Misaki slowly shut the door to avoid making noise. Setting the messenger bag down and rooting through its contents, Misaki decided it would be best to spell things out first with the letters and tape. Brightly colored pieces of paper with glitter stuck to them were hard to miss after all. Holding the tape dispenser in one hand and the letters in the other, Misaki went about asking Dion to the dance. She was confident in her spelling skill after all and soon it was spelled out on the door: DION WILL YOU GO TO THE SNOW BALL WITH ME? Stepping back, Misaki tapped a finger to her chin in thought. It was nice, but it definitely needed streamers. And ribbon. Lots and lots of ribbon. Retrieving the rest of what she needed from her back, Misaki went about taping up draped pieces of ribbon around the words. The door looked like it’s just had a one night stand with Bang Bang once she was through with it. They were just so many colors after all. And the streamers and ribbons were definitely what made the design pop. Yup, no way Dion could miss this. Satisfied with her handiwork, all that was left now was to sneak back to her room. Oh who needed sneaking? She’d accomplished her mission; it was time to make a break for it! Snatching up her things, Misaki threw open the door and ran across the hall. In five seconds she’d opened her own door, slammed it shut, and then hidden under the covers on her bed, giggling like a lunatic. Damn was that fun.

Dion wasn’t expecting much to happen and had lowered his guard. A foolish mistake but one he made none the less. Deciding he would be fine just relaxing on the couch playing video games seemed like a reasonable assumption. He had nothing planned, nothing to worry about for school, and no evil doctors trying to make him a living pincushion. Today he would just chill and be ready to go back to the madness that usually surrounded him. Which was pretty stupid of him to expect that things wouldn’t be insane for a full day. Regardless there he was, sitting on a couch entranced by the device in his hands.
Distracted by virtual characters locked in combat he failed to notice the antics of his meister as she moved about. It didn’t help that she was trying to be secretive so even if he was paying attention he probably wouldn’t have noticed her. Not that he minded being left to play his games in some odd sense of peace. It should have been obvious to him that something was wrong but he tried to imagine that his life was remotely normal for the odd moment. Things probably would have stayed that way too if the battery didn’t die.
A mistake on his part he forgot to grab the charger out of his room or just play in there to begin with. Rolling up and jumping off the couch he shook himself to orient where he was and went off on the quest to retrieve the game charger. Walking to his room he quickly went over to his desk and snatched the offending object before turning to leave. Seeing his door he stopped and just sort of stared at it for a second. His first impression was that Bang had snuck into his room and thrown up on his door. Knowing her the fact that it had formed words was oddly less shocking than it should have been.
Removing that option that Bang had snuck into his room to vomit a message on his door Dion moved to a much more likely option. Stuffing the charger into one of his pockets he moved past his brightly colored door, which he was tempted to leave up to see if it glowed in the dark, Dion decided on the second and probably more likely possibility. Heading down the hall he stopped in front of the door that lead to his meister’s room.
Giving the door one decent knock he called out to his mesiter. ”Misaki, are you the one who rainbowified my door or did Bang really vomit a message onto it?” He really could have believed either and was hoping it was Misaki’s doing. He really didn’t want to think about Bang being able to regurgitate rainbow words and form messages with them.

After the initial adrenaline high wore off from racing back to her room, Misaki eventually emerged from under the covers and sat grinning for a bit. She was more than pleased with herself. Sneaking around the apartment like the ninja she was always put her in a good mood, especially when she didn’t get caught. Then again Dion was probably distracted doing whatever it was he was up to in the living room. Misaki hoped that he’d have reason to go to his room soon and see her handiwork. In the meantime she would have to find something entertain herself with. Thinking for a moment, it didn’t take long to notice a stray pin cushion on her nightstand. Now what was that doing there?
Misaki crawled across the comforter and picked it up, trying to remember why she would have put it there, but nothing came to mind. Shrugging, the tiny Japanese girl, hopped off her bed and wandered to the closet. Shoving various articles of clothing and pairs of shoes aside, she found her sewing kit and put the pin cushion back where it as supposed to be. Honestly though, she wasn’t even working on any new cosplays, why in the world had that silly thing been on her nightstand in the first place? She certainly hoped she hadn’t started sleepwalking.
Before she had time to really ponder that thought, there was a knock on her door. Hearing Dion questioning her as to where all the colorful letters had come from, Misaki snickered. Silly Dion, if Bang was in the apartment they would know. She’d have tackled them and hugged the life of them both by now. It was a terrifying thought though, the possibility that Bang could puke up rainbow colored sentences. Misaki supposed that such an ability may be a rather effective distraction against a Kishin Egg…maybe. Shaking her head, the tiny Japanese girl scampered over to her door and opened it, leaning against the frame with a wicked grin on her face,
“Of course I’m responsible for the spontaneous rainbow sparkle streamer bomb that hit your door. If Bang were here she’d have mauled us with affection by now.”
She’d been excited to see how Dion would react to her ask. Misaki found it hilarious that he thought bang may have broken into the apartment, but then again she wouldn’t put it past her. Bang was capable of just about anything, Misaki found. But there was still his answer to wait for. In anticipation of that, Misaki simply stood and smiled at Dion. What else was there to do?

It didn’t take long before the door opened to reveal Dion’s tiny Japanese girl meister. The grin she was wearing did slightly worry him but Dion couldn’t very well do much about it. Hopefully the grin meant she was the one who had made the message and he didn’t really have a best friend who could regurgitate rainbow words. Oh she was the one who wrote it? Well that was a relief! He really didn’t want to have to run around Death City trying to find and calm down Bang Bang. Knowing her if she could actually throw up messages she would be having too much fun expelling words around the city.
Misaki was right about the Bang thing though. If it was the vibrantly colored rocket launcher they would have known about it from the yelling and mauling and any other way that she could find to get their attention. No Bang was anything but stealthy; if it was her they would have certainly known. Of course knowing that it was his meister who had made the rainbow explosion on his door instead of his best friend meant it was an actually question which required an answer. Dion wasn’t sure which option he liked more.
To be honest Dion hadn’t really put much thought into the snowball. Sure it was a party but it hadn’t really donned on him yet. At most he just kind of expected to show up there and take it from there, Dion wasn’t really one to plan thing like this out. Now that he was actually being asked about it he had to decide on what he was going to do. The whole just show up and go with it idea wasn’t really working now that he was on the spot. If only decisions didn’t have to be made.
Considering his meister was now staring at him and smiling in anticipation Dion didn’t have much choice now. Well he could make a run for it and hide on the ceiling but that would only work for so long before he needed to descend due to gravity, and then she would attack. Regardless he would have to give some sort of answer to her question so might as well get it over with. ”Yeah sure lets go together then.” Not like it made much of a difference unless the snowball ended up like the last dance they had gone to.
Dion hoped things didn’t turn out to be as awkward as last time but they hadn’t even gone together last time so things should be different. At least they should be, that made sense to Dion at least. Yeah the snowball would be completely different!

Was that a yes? It sounded like a yes. It was totally a yes. Misaki hadn’t intended to be so excited but that possibility of remaining calm flew out the window with the knowledge that she was indeed going to the Snowball with Dion. Jumping up and down a few times, Misaki let out a rather shrill noise that sounded vaguely like a shriek of happiness before hugging the life out of her Weapon,
“Awesome! Thank you, Dion, thank you thank you thank you! I promise not to embarrass you like at the last dance, scout’s honor even though I was never a scout but still!”
Ah yes, the last dance they’d been to. It was all coming back to her now. That had been nothing short of terribly confusing. Misaki had never wanted to get that close to Bang ever and never intended to ever again. Making out with her best friends was not something she sought to turn into a hobby, no sir. Realizing she should probably let go of Dion before he suffocated, Misaki released the poor boy and backed off, leaning against the door frame again with that giddy grin still stuck on her face. Needless to say she would likely be wearing that grin for the rest of the day knowing her,
“Heh, sorry. I’m way more excited than I thought I would be I guess, did I crack any ribs?”
Thinking on that a moment, why was she so excited? Yeah it was a dance so it would likely be tons of fun considering she would likely see Nat there, regardless of whether or not her BFF got a date or not. She’d probably go with Bang if nobody asked her, which was a terrifying thought to dwell on. Misaki chalked up the overload of joy she was feeling to the prospect of getting dressed up and then tearing up the dance floor at Shibusen. Yes, that was totally the reason why. Even better, this meant that she would get to go dress shopping with Nat later on and that was sure to be fun!

Dion was not expecting the reaction his meister had. He was thinking she would just say something like ‘cool awesome! This will be great!’ or something to that effect and then they would just go off to whatever they were doing previously. With this in mind he wasn’t paying attention to Misaki when she started to jump but did turn back at the shrieking. Turning back to hi meister Dion wondered why she was trying to shatter glass when she lunged at him and latched onto him. Dion was a bit lost as to why his meister was suddenly trying to squeeze him to death.
All the thanking was unnecessary from Dion’s perspective; all he did was say he would go to a dance with her after all. He was glad his meister was made so happy by the agreement but wasn’t aware as to why she was. At the mention of the last dance Dion tried to repress the memories of that whole predicament. Misaki hadn’t exactly embarrassed him as much as she had confused him, Bang on the other hand was the one who made the whole thing terribly embarrassing. Especially by bringing attention to what didn’t need attention being brought to.
Eventually she finally released him and Dion took a slight step back from the change in weight. Dion contemplated pocketing his hands like he usually did but thought better of it in case he was met with any more sudden hugs from his meister. He figured his charger would have survived the attack so no point worrying about that. At Misaki’s remark Dion simply grinned. “It’s gonna take a bit more than that to hurt me!” If he could handle falling off of buildings and evil trees a simple hug wasn’t going to be too terrible to him.
Assuming his meister was done attacking him for the moment Dion took the opportunity to walk away from Misaki’s room and back to the couch where he had been previously. Jumping over the back he landed on the couch and plugged his game into the nearest outlet. Now he actually had plans for the dance and would have to get started on them at some point but for the time being he was content laying on the couch and playing his game. Dance stuff might be important but it could wait until after he had sufficiently kicked virtual ass.
