It had been a perfectly peaceful afternoon. Dion was in his room doing Dion-like things and Misaki was in the living room trying to catch up on her studying. But of course no day could ever be allowed to remain normal for her, hence why her older brother seemed to find it necessary to knock on the door. Misaki had been able to see who it was standing outside through the peep hole and she’d genuinely considered simply locking the door and pretending there was nobody home. However she was feeling rather tolerant on this day, so she let Yuu in and tried to ignore the smug look on his face, “If dad sent you, turn around now or I’ll chase you out with the mop.”“Nice to see you too, Imoto-chan.”Misaki stuck her tongue out at him and shut the door once he was in the apartment. Of course she only noticed the box he was carrying after he’d entered the room and she raised an eyebrow, “What’s that?”“Just a little housewarming gift for you. I was worried you may get lonely in such a big city all by yourself.”“You realize my Weapon just moved in with me, right?”Misaki could tell Yuu was about to go into one of his stereotypical older brother lectures, so she turned around as quickly as possible and tried to reach the kitchen before he could say anything that even remotely resembled trolling. She’d known that telling her family anything about who she met in Death City would wind up in disapproval, but then again that was what she wanted. Besides, it wasn’t like Yuu’s complaints about how it was improper for her to be roommates with a boy would convince her to kick Dion out. They were partners, the closer they were in proximity to each other the better. Oh wait, she should probably ask if Yuu wanted tea or something. It was her brother, and as much as she wanted him gone Misaki thought she should at least try to be polite, “Can I get you anything to drink? Tea? Water? Poison?”Yuu only chuckled and shook his head, “As much as I love downing poison while visiting you, I won’t be staying. I’m only here to drop this precious thing off.”Misaki turned and watched her brother hold the box out to her. She regarded it with suspicion. The last thing he’d given her was not at all pleasant; in fact she’d damn near had a panic attack. Sensing that his younger sister wasn’t exactly trusting of him, Yuu took on an expression of feigned heartache, “You think I’d try to trick you again so soon? I’m hurt, wounded even!””Save it, the last unmarked box you gave me was filled with nothing but screams of terror and nightmares.”“It was a first aid kit.”“There were scalpels in it!”Yuu rolled his eyes, “Yeah, yeah, you’re scarred for life or whatever. Just take the damn box! I have a car waiting outside and I don’t want to miss my flight back to Seattle.”The tiny Japanese girl wondered for a moment how long her brother had even been in Death City. No way was she important enough to him to demand a flight out specifically to give her something. He was probably doing some sort of weird study thing knowing him. Stepping forward slowly, Misaki poked the front of the box before jumping back a few feet. Nothing. No explosions and no suspicious rattling came from within. Still only half convinced but wanting Yuu out of her living space, Misaki took the box and held it carefully, almost like she expected spikes to erupt from it and impale her hands. Yuu only shook his head, “You are just constantly evolving into a stranger and stranger person, aren’t you?”“Says the surgical freak.”“Adrenaline junky.”“Nurse fetish.”“Latrophobia.”“Don’t you have a plane to catch?”Her brother grinned, knowing he’d just won. Misaki scowled and shifted the box so it was under her arm and used her now free hand to push Yuu out of the kitchen and back to the front door, “Nice to see you, Yuu, shame you can’t stay.”“Same. Oh, and call mom when you get a chance, she’s having one of her worry fits.”“Bye Yuu!”Misaki shut the door before he had a chance to say anything else. Sighing, Misaki looked at the box under her arm and walked to the center of the living room, setting it down on the floor. Sitting down next to it, the tiny Japanese girl stared at the mysterious box. There was nothing suspicious about it on the outside. It was just a plain old box. Slowly, Misaki tapped a finger on the lid. Whatever was inside moved and made some sort of strange noise. In an instant, Misaki was off the floor and running behind the couch. Peering out, the box moved only slightly before falling still, but the sound continued. Narrowing her eyes, she still suspected some sort of evil trick. Simply throwing the box in a dumpster crossed her mind…but with the way it was moving there was likely something alive inside. She’d hate to be responsible for the death of some innocent animal, even if it was intended to scare her. Sighing, Misaki crawled onto the couch. There she remained, staring at the box and flinched whenever she heard whatever was inside rustle about or make noise. This was ridiculous. She was Meister! She could handle whatever was in that box! Still, what if it was a snake? Or a spider? Oh dear lord, if there was a tarantula inside the box all hell would break loose. Misaki hated anything and everything to do with arachnids. Thinking a bit more on that possibility, Misaki came up with a wonderful idea. If she could get Dion to open the box for her then she wouldn’t have to worry about anything jumping out at her or possibly biting her hand off. Was she being ridiculous? Probably, but she didn’t particularly care. Seeing no other option, Misaki called out to her Weapon from where she sat, “Dion, could you come here for a minute? I need your help with something.”

Dion had spent most of the day in his room but was content using the time to plot bigger things. He was struck with an idea at some point the previous day and was trying to figure out how he could manage attaching a television and proper seating to his ceiling. With his partial form he could manage sitting or standing on the ceiling so what could be better than using this advantage to play games like that? Of course the details he needed to attach the stuff to the ceiling escaped him and he needed to get extra things to relocate to the ceiling.
Sadly his searching around Google provided no answers to his problems. In an attempt to get a sudden epiphany he had flipped his own room’s television set upside-down and placed it on the floor. Dion laid on his bed with his head dangling over the edge so he was technically looking at the TV correctly. In his hands was a controller and he was caught up in a game of Street Fighter. Arms extended out in front of him so he could keep his grasp on the controller without dropping it. And so if he did happen to drop it it wouldn’t end up falling down on his face.
From outside he could hear the faint sound of his meister talking to someone but figured it wasn’t terribly important. Besides, it was taking most of his concentration to not drop the controller, fall off his bed, and knock the TV over. He didn’t doubt that it would only take a moment for him to somehow manage to do all of those things and he would really rather not go through the trouble. On the off chance that his meister needed something that required him to stop his inverted fighting she would get his attention.
As he finished a match, probably nearing his eighth since he flipped over the TV, Dion had the odd idea of stopping and taking a break before all the blood rushed to his head. If that happened he had a pretty good hunch that the aforementioned list of problems that ended with his TV being knocked over would occur. Even with the threat of a broken TV he was about to start a new match when he heard his partner call for him. Most likely saved from a terrible fate he stopped and slowly righted himself.
Before exiting his room Dion did at least flip his TV the right way and lift it back onto his desk so he wouldn’t forget about it and end up running into it later or something equally catastrophic. Done fixing his brilliant idea Dion did feel a slight rush of blood to his head and the dizziness that accompanied getting up to quickly but didn’t worry about it. A little headache wasn’t anything that he would consider a big deal. Walking out of his room he noticed the box and his meister staring at it from the couch.
Cocking his head to the side he looked at the situation a bit confused. The box seemed normal enough so why was Misaki looking at it all suspicious like? Whatever was inside it must have her worried, and that in itself meant it was probably something unimaginable dangerous or odd. In other words, fun! Looking at his meister he just looked confusedly between her and the box.
”So…what’s up?”

Sure enough Dion was out in the living room before long. With her Weapon now present, Misaki was reasonably certain that the two of them could handle whatever was inside the box. Inching slowly off the couch, the tiny Japanese girl sidestepped carefully around the box of mysterious noise and shifting before scampering over and hiding behind Dion,
“Okay, long story short: my big brother came to visit and gave that box to me, said it was a housewarming gift or whatever. Now, the last thing he gave me was terrible. He gave me a first aid kit with scalpels in it, but he’s at med school so go figure but anyway the damn thing keeps moving so I didn’t want to open it without in case there’s a horrible tentacle monster in it or something.”
Yup, that sounded about right. Although Misaki doubted it was a very good tentacle monster if it could fit in such a small box. In her experience that sort of thing was supposed to be the size of small cities and consume ships and airplanes and things. Although she supposed it couldn’t be an octopus or whatever, after all it wasn’t making very fish-like sounds at all. She wasn’t even sure fish made noise, they sort of glubbed about to her knowledge. Why was she still thinking about things like this? There could be a rabid mongoose in there for all she knew!
The lid of the box shifted slightly and another faintly muffled sound came from within. Misaki flinched and narrowed her eyes. Wait a minute. Okay, now that Dion was here it didn’t sound nearly as threatening. It actually sounded vaguely feline. Now Misaki was just plain confused. True, her brother could be genuinely nice every once in a while, but mostly he was just a troll to her and their younger sister Naomi. Still, it was a relatively well known fact that Misaki had a soft spot for cats. Taking a deep breath, Misaki took a step forward and gently nudged the box with her foot. Another vaguely cat-like sound was heard. Sighing, Misaki tried to think of what to do,
“Um…okay, what if you maybe got like a broom or something? Just in case it’s some terrible alien life form here to suck the marrow out of our bones or something. That way if I open then box and something terrible latches onto my face you can hopefully pry it off before it kills me.”
Yes, that sounded like a good plan. Misaki certainly hoped it wasn’t some terrible alien life form though. That would be rather difficult to keep in the house, especially if it was anything like the ones in the Alien movies. She would not have the neighbors being taken hostage and cocooned, no that was generally considered bad. Plus then it would bleed acid through the floor and furniture and drool everywhere and Misaki was just not up for dealing with that ever.

Watching as his meister maneuvered around the box Dion stood where he was and waited for an explanation. If something was going to burst out of the box hiding behind the couch seemed like a better idea than using him as a shield but it was too late. After she was hidden as safely as she was going to be behind him Misaki finally began to explain the situation. Listening to his meister Dion kept his eyes trained on the box and watched it make subtle movements. Well that explained who the voices from earlier had come from.
The first-aid kit ordeal sounded utterly terrifying but what would actually move around and fit into that box? The tentacle monster seemed a bit farfetched for such a tiny box and probably not overly terrifying. Whatever creature was inside made some sort of sound that wasn’t very terrifying at all. Dion couldn’t tell what it was but it sounded pretty harmless to him. Misaki must have thought the same as she gathered the courage to move over to the box and nudge it with her foot. In response another sound escaped the box no more threatening than the last. Dion moved closer to his meister to see what she was going to do.
At his meister’s suggestion he let out a small laugh. A broom, really? That was supposed to protect them form a kind of alien creature? Sighing he looked at his meister and grinned.
”A broom? I have a much better idea in case it really is some sort of deadly alien creature longing to drain your marrow.”
Holding out his fist he activated his partial form and pointed the spear tip at the box before looking back to his meister.
“This just seems a bit more useful than a broom to me.”
Looking from his hand down the spear tip to the box Dion wondered what was inside. It seemed relatively harmless so the whole partial weapon form thing was pretty unnecessary but whatever. It was some form of defense for himself and his meister. After the scalpel gift it was understandable to be cautious but this one seemed much less menacing. Now it was just a matter of waiting for Misaki to tell him what to do. Looking at her for an answer he wondered what could be inside the box.
”So what do you want to do? Open it and I’ll be ready to impale it if necessary or I can just open it and be ready to skewer it. Whatever works.”

Okay now that she thought about it, the broom really was a dumb idea. Misaki could’ve thought of something eons better were she not preoccupied staring at the box in case it decided to suddenly explode, not that such a possibility seemed likely. If her brother wanted to blow up her apartment he’d have just built a spaceship and nuked the place from orbit. Maybe she was being dramatic with that thought but it seemed perfectly possible in Misaki’s mind where Yuu wasn’t just her older brother but also a super villain as well as her arch nemesis. Or was that Naomi? She never could tell what her little sister was up to and that was almost more dangerous than her future doctor of a brother. Watching Dion activate his partial form, Misaki nodded in agreement, “Yeah, that’s way more useful than a broom.”Could a broom stab thing? Well yes, but not very effectively and that would depend entirely on whether or not one of the ends was sharpened. As far as Misaki knew the broom was not sharpened and therefore it was pretty much useless. Besides, Dion’s partial form was just quicker. Hearing him ask who should open the box, Misaki thought for a moment. Well, if it was a terrible alien creature with teeth for a face and horrible mutant tentacles for a body then they were in trouble regardless. Still, it was her Yuu had given the box to and she would hate to have Dion attacked by some terrible creature that was meant for her, “I’ll open it. If anything tries to crawl out that looks even vaguely like an alien I’ll toss it towards you and you can impale it.”Having said that, Misaki creeped around her Weapon so she was no longer hiding behind him and tip toed over to the box. Whatever was inside must’ve heard her because another sound could be heard. Wait, that sounded almost identifiable. Tilting her head in mild confusion, Misaki knelt beside the box and poked it. Another sound, but now that she was closer and less intimidated by the rectangular object it sounded more familiar. Feeling it was now or never to be mauled by an alien creature, the tiny Japanese girl glanced over at Dion and nodded before reaching out and flipping the lid off the box. The look of worry on her face vanished, “…Oh my goodness.”It wasn’t an alien that was in the box, oh no. Instead Misaki found that a kitten was inside. An adorable, cute, and fluffy kitten with two of the bluest eyes was staring back up at her from within the box. For a moment confusion took over. What was Yuu thinking? Why was he giving her a kitten? Had he set her room back in their family home in Seattle on fire again? No wait, now she remembered. When they were younger she and Naomi would hound their parents about getting a pet, a cat specifically, but were never allowed to have one. He must’ve remembered and supposed that since Misaki was out of the house their mother and father couldn’t exactly say no to her keeping one. That magnificent bastard. By the pink bow the adorable critter had around its neck, Misaki assumed it was a girl. Carefully, the tiny Japanese girl picked the small fluff ball up and out of the box. Honestly, what was Yuu thinking? A cramped box was no place for a baby animal! Looking up at its new owner, the kitten mewed and that was it. Misaki’s heart melted, “Oh my goodness! Aren’t you just the cutest little thing! Look, Dion, isn’t she precious?”

At his meister’s volunteering to open the box Dion simply nodded. It seemed like a good enough plan to him. Besides, if anything did jump out and attack Misaki’s soul purge would probably be more versatile or at least be easier to land on the thing. Plus the possibility of getting to impale an airborne target seemed like much more fun! He waited as Misaki crept around him to get to the box so she could begin this potential plan. Whatever was in the box reacted with a sound but nothing else. She poked it and got similar results, it didn’t sound terribly dangerous.
Seeing Misaki’s nod Dion readied his arm to impale any flying alien creatures that would be tossed his way. When the lid was flipped off Dion’s attention was on the box waiting for some sort of creature to erupt out and attack. Of course this idea was essentially ruined at his meister’s reaction to whatever was inside. She wasn’t exactly the image of fear at the sight of it so he figured it wasn’t some sort of hazardous monster that wanted to rip them limb from limb. The fact that she reached into the box confirmed that whatever was inside was harmless.
Watching to see what Misaki was going to pull out of the box Dion wasn’t expecting a cat. He wasn’t really sure what to expect but a cat didn’t cross his mind. Well it did seem like something more manageable than some sort of flesh consuming spacial creature. Retracting his partial form he moved closer to his meister to get a better look at the not alien monster kitten. It seemed fluffy and harmless enough but Dion wasn’t used to being around house animals.
“Yeah, she has to be the most fluffy space monster ever.”

Misaki couldn’t take her eyes off of the tiny creature. She was just so cute! She’d never seen anything so adorable in her entire life! Okay so perhaps that was a bit of an exaggeration, but the kitten was damn adorable being a small fluff ball with big blue eyes after all. The tiny Japanese girl switched from holding the kitten in her hands to cradling it in her arms to keep it from getting too squirmy. Misaki supposed she could let the whole first aid kit prank with Yuu slide at this point in time. If he had taken enough time to actually take her love of things feline into consideration and get her a kitten she supposed that she could find it in her heart to forgive him. She’d still never get over his need to be a doctor of all things though; she doubted she would ever be able to let that go. Maybe if Yuu were to be something like a pediatrician or a nutritionist or something that didn’t involve scalpels Misaki would forgive him but only time would tell if that would actually happen.
While Misaki already had several names popping into her head to use for the new kitten, she supposed that it was only fair to ask Dion if it was okay to keep her. It was his apartment too after all, and for all she knew he could be allergic to cats even though he’d never mentioned that he was. Looking over at her Weapon, Misaki smiled,
“Can we keep her, Dion? She’s so cute and cuddly and oh my goodness is she ever soft! She’s like a purring ball of all that is adorable and right with the world!”
Yes, what a wonderful case she was making for the two of them keeping this kitten. Cute and cuddly were on Misaki’s list of things that were good, though. In her opinion if it was cute and cuddly it was fantastic. Who wouldn’t love a cute and cuddly kitten after all? Unless they were afraid of cats, then that might not workout. While Misaki was thinking, the kitten seemed to have plans of her own on where she was supposed to be. Squirming around a bit, the grey and white ball of fluff managed to weasel her way out of Misaki’s arms and onto the ground, wandering a bit clumsily over to the box she’d been in up until a few moments ago and sniffing at it. Once that investigation as complete she turned and looked squarely at Dion and mewed, raising a paw and waving it in his general direction. Misaki giggled at the little creature’s antics,
“Well, she certainly told you.”

Dion wasn’t as excited as his meister at the arrival of the sudden box of kitten. Looking at the fluffy mess of fluff he examined the creature before him. Cats were a bit of an oddity to see in New York City as most people didn’t have room for animals or owned a dog. The variety of animals he was used to included pigeons and maybe the odd squirrel climbing one of the vile trees that inhabited Central Park. Even before he moved to New York City he didn’t remember seeing too many animals but his memory of that time was pretty fuzzy at best.
His meister’s question snapped his attention off of the kitten she was holding. Asking him if they could keep the kitten seemed a tad unnecessary but he could understand where she was coming from. As much as Dion wasn’t a cat person it was from lack of exposer than from him not liking them so he didn’t have a problem with the kitten. He figured a kitten wouldn’t be terribly difficult to deal with and Misaki would be the one to take care of it mostly, so not a bother to him anyway. It would just be another addition to the madness that resided in the apartment.
Before he had a chance to tell his meister this however the kitten decided to take a look around. Dion watched the fluff walk over to examine the device responsible for its confinement. After sniffing the box she seemed to be content with the investigation and moved on. Looking at him the kitten mewed and waved its paw in some kind of cat gesture. Dion dropped down to lie on the floor and looked the kitten in the face. Staring down the feline he let out a puff of breath and got back up.
Grinning at his meister he shrugged. ”Sure, doesn’t bother me. Just a little kitten in the already mad mixture.”

Misaki watched Dion inspect the cat hoping he would say yes. Then again, she doubted he would’ve wanted to get so close to it if he planned to say no. The kitten was a bit startled by Dion dropping to the floor before it, stumbling back a bit towards Misaki but she seemed undeterred in her investigation of the other person in the room. The kitten tilted her head at the Weapon and lifted a paw to wave at him in a playful gesture, tumbling over on her side when he stood up again. Misaki could hardly contain herself and this was plainly obvious by the giggle fit she seemed to currently be trapped in. She liked cats and loved kittens but to think that a baby cat would have such a paralyzing effect on her was a bit surprising, at least to her. Then again in Misaki’s mind, she was unstoppable by anything.
Hearing Dion say he didn’t mind the kitten’s presence in the apartment would have made Misaki ridiculously happy if she weren’t already completely overcome with joy just by watching the tiny creature. Was it even legal for something to be that adorable? She didn’t think so, but she didn’t really care. Smiling giddily like a kid in a candy store, Misaki crawled over and flopped down beside the kitten,
“Thanks Dion! I promise to take good care of her so you won’t have too much to worry about. Damn it, now I’ll have to be nice to Yuu the next time I see him.”
It was a good enough trade, though. If her older brother was willing to do something this nice for her then Misaki owed it to him to act civil whenever their next encounter should happen. Still, she’d had such a good prank planned for him. Ah well, Kool-Aid filled water balloons could be catalogued and saved for another occasion she supposed. Thinking of what to do next, Misaki gently picked the kitten off the floor and rolled over on her back, placing the small creature on her stomach,
“Now then, what should we name this little one?”
While the little ball of fur purred and tried to wobble closer to Misaki’s face, the tiny Japanese girl tried to think of a good name. She was never good at naming things. The goldfish she’d had as a kid had been unfortunately named Glub because of her young antics, but then she’d been no more than six so perhaps she’d grown out of that phase. She certainly wasn’t about to name the kitten Fluffems or anything silly like that. Tama was a rather common name for cats in Japan, but that just seemed so clichéd to her that she wanted to think of something better. Tilting her head back to look at her Weapon, she questioned Dion,
”Any ideas?”

His meister seemed excited by his indifference toward her keeping the cat. Not like he could really decide anything anyway. What else would she do? Go find her brother and give the cat back? It was unlikely that he was even in the city by now, or at least close to being out of it if not. That option out the only other he could think of was to give the cat away which required more effort than he was willing to spend on the matter. It wasn’t as if the cat was a problem to him or anything in the first place so it was really too much work.
As far as Dion was concerned it wasn’t really anything to him as long as Misaki was the one taking care of it. It would only become problematic if he decided to get a pet like a dog, fish, bird, or Mongolian Death Worm. That worked out well as Dion had no intention of getting any of those animals for pets. Or any form of pet really, he could barely take care of himself without having to worry about some other life form being around. Granted caring for a Mongolian death worm was the least significant issue of having one for a pet.
Hearing his meister start speaking again Dion was brought out of his cryptid based thought process. Oh what to name the thing? Looking at the fluffy mass that was the nameless kitten Dion tilted his head. Blinking at the creature he tried to think of some kind of name or title that would work well for it but came up with nothing. That was probably for the best anyway. If he had come up with any kind of name it would most likely be overly complex and not entirely relevant to what it was.
”I’ve got nothing.”
Turning away from the cat and looking at his meister he gave a bit of a shrug. Maybe calling it a furbeast or something would work to just confuse everyone but it was hardly a name. Misaki would probably have a better idea for a name anyway; it was her cat after all. Attempting to think of a good name one more time Dion gave up rather quickly.
”Yeah I have no idea, what do you want to name her?”
Waiting for his meister’s answer Dion flipped his hair to keep his mind from completely wandering off.

At first, Misaki shrugged. No names immediately came to mind, but then she supposed she jut wasn’t trying hard enough to think of something. Turning her attention back to the kitten, she sat up a bit and took a good look the small furry creature. She was mostly white, so she supposed it wouldn’t be too out of the question to name her Yuki or Shiro. Still, that seemed a bit obvious and once again clichéd although not nearly as bad as Tama would be. She had some dark spots but calling her Spot seemed kind of dumb and not nearly creative enough for Misaki. She could do much better than all the normal; run of the mill names she kept coming up with.
Picking the kitten up and cradling her in her arms, Misaki shifted so she was sitting on her knees. The little furball was quite compliant with how Misaki kept picking her up, fidgeting only for a moment before staring up at the tiny Japanese girl with those big blue eyes of hers. Aoi might work, but Misaki decided to test it first, tilting her head at the kitten and trying out how the name sounded when actually said,
“Aoi?”
The kitten kicked one of her back feet and sneezed. Okay maybe not. The reaction was likely not at all related to the name but Misaki took it that way. Besides, she could totally think up something better. Now that she was thinking more, the kitten’s dark spots were kind of misty she supposed. Raising an eyebrow, Misaki said another name that came to mind,
“Kasumi?”
The kitten merely stared up at her before blinking and batting a paw at the Meister’s chin. The kitten was right, she could still do better. Maybe she was focusing too much on her appearance. If she was going to be living in this apartment she’d need something grander. Something like Kimiko seemed a bit grand for a cat, even if she was the most adorable thing Misaki had ever seen. Megumi seemed like it would be tempting fate a bit considering only time would tell if the kitten was really a blessing. She could still take to shredding curtains or chewing up shoelaces at this point. A thought struck Misaki then and she grinned,
“Kiku?”
The kitten batted both paws at Misaki’s nose and mewed. Well, that was good enough for her. It was a good name, strong but feminine. Besides, flower names were always a good default, at least in Misaki’s mind. Besides, it wasn’t one you’d hear too often as a pet name; more like something you’d call a middle child or something. Looking at Dion, Misaki grinned,
“Looks like she approves of being called Kiku. What do you think?”

Dion simply sat there and watched as his meister listed off names that meant nothing to him and the kitten vaguely responded. Did it really matter how the cat reacted to a bunch of letters? Shrugging he waited to see what Misaki would come up with. He wasn’t really in a position to complain as he had no ideas about what to name the ball of fluff that was supposed to pass for a kitten. Well it was just a cat so it couldn’t be too picky about stuff. At least he assumed so since he wasn’t familiar with how cats acted.
Eventually it seemed like they came to some sort of agreement. Kiku? It wasn’t terribly long or hard to say so why not? If the cat seemed to like it then it seemed good enough. ”Seems fine to me.” And that seemed to be taken care of! Sadly even with the addition of the feline to the occupancy of the apartment Dion was no closer to figuring out how to relocate a television to the ceiling of his room. Probably for the best but it did leave him out plans for the rest of the day. He would have to settle with average video game play.
Looking from the kitten to his meister he slowly formed an idea that would at the very least give him something to do for a while. Lifting himself off the floor he flipped himself over so he could stand on his feet. Shaking his head in a hopefully attempt to make his hair presentable he took a few steps to head back to his room. Stopping he turned around and smirked at his meister before looking down at the kitten. ”Well then Kiku do you want to come watch me humiliate your owner in a game of Street Fighter?”

With Dion’s approval, the kitten was now officially named. While the cat looked nothing like a chrysanthemum, Misaki thought Kiku was a great name nonetheless. The kitten fidgeted, apparently growing a bit tired of being coddled so much within a short time period. Misaki set her down and watched her toddle closer to Dion as he got up. She was a curious little thing it seemed, not that such a thing would be a problem. If she somehow got lost within the apartment all they’d need to do was listen for the mews and follow along until they found the little fuzz ball.
The tiny Japanese girl’s thoughts drifted to her older brother. While her siblings usually rejoiced in trolling each other to the point of not speaking to each other for weeks on end, she had very clearly misjudged him in this case. Who could blame her though? Misaki still thought that her general state of being suspicious during his brief visit to her had been completely justified. He’d given her scalpels for heaven’s sake! For all she knew there could have been a sculpture made of nothing but scalpels in that box, of course now it was readily apparent that this idea was completely bogus. Kiku was hardly some horrible monster trained to consume the middle child of the Saito family. Misaki decided she’d send him a thank you card or something later provided that she could actually remember to do so.
Assuming that Dion would simply return to his room to whatever it was he’d been doing earlier, she raised an eyebrow when he paused. As the challenge to a game of Street Fighter reached her ears, a wicked grin spread over her face and she slowly stood,
“Please Dion, if anyone’s going to be humiliated it’s you.”
Misaki was better at strategy games than she was at fighters, but she was still confident she could beat her Weapon at least once. Wandering along after him, she scooped Kiku up in her arms on the way and scratched the kitten behind the ears,
“Come on, Kiku, let’s show you how to properly kick ass in Street Fighter!”
