Lavender opened Her Locker proudly. It was Her Locker. With Her School Supplies in it. It gave her a strong feeling of pride to see everything inside and organized. Her Locker. In Shibusen. It was almost like a dream to be here, among the students and the teachers and the halls and...it didn't feel real just yet. Lavender had been hearing about Shibusen and Demon Weapons and Meisters for years, but in the back of her mind there was always a pinch of doubt that it was all made up, a story told to gullible children. Lavender closed her locker almost reverently, smile on her lips. She was really here. She was a Demon Weapon. Strange! But true! This is the moment they write about, she realized suddenly. That "a-ha, I've arrived" moment. Like the small-town farmer boy going into the palace gates for the first time. It was thrilling! Exciting! Everything she had dreamed of...
Turning on her heel and flouncing down the hall, Lavender adjusted her pink bag nervously across her chest. It galled her to admit it, but there was anxiety lying just beneath the First Day of School Excitement, sinking its tendrils in slowly. The pit in her stomach was growing steadily worse as she went through her day, but it hadn't been too bad until she had actually stepped inside the school. Lavender ducked into an alcove by a large window, out of the way of the hallway traffic, and took a moment to drop her bag and fix her hair ribbons. Untying them and letting her hair fall free and curled down to her waist, she stared out the window, lost in thought.
When it came right down to it, she didn't really know what she was doing. The New School Excitement was nice to feel, but she'd eventually have to go to class - and not just class, but classes in subjects she had never even heard of before her dad had told her, and barely mentioned since the initial talk. What if they asked her questions about Kishin Eggs? Lavender didn't know what a Kishin Egg even was. Pulling a section of pink hair into a side ponytail, Lavender thought vaguely of enormous eggs and things hatching from them. As she did the other section, she wondered if Shibusen actually taught combat. It would be cool if it did! Way better than any elective P.E. classes she had taken in high school. Who needs weightlifting when you can learn to kick people in the stomach? Well...weightlifters, she conceded, pulling the ribbon tight and inspecting herself in the faint window reflection. Not satisfied but unconcerned with bothering about her hair any longer, Lavender slouched down to grab her bag from where it had fallen on the floor, pulling her skirt down self-consciously. She had dressed in one of her favorite outfits, a pale pink lolita outfit that she had sewed herself. It was only morning, but the day was threatening to be extremely hot (as Nevada generally was), and Lavender was wondering if the knee high socks and pink cardigan were too much for the summer. It was usually fine back in London, but Nevada...Lavender made a mental note to unpack her sleeveless dresses ASAP.
Clicking her heels together (she congratulated herself on the pink pumps, A+ fashion choice) and slinging her bag back over her shoulder, Lavender turned to walk on. There was much more of the school to see, after all, and she wanted to get in as much she possibly could before she had to do school-related things. In fact, she wasn't sure what she was supposed to do. Lavender had a preliminary schedule and, of course, a locker, but she had the vague idea that you had to stop by an office or something.
"The office..." she wondered out loud, turning back the way she came, peering down the hall, squinting up the other way. Lavender had no idea where the office was, or if Shibusen even had one. It's not like it was like a regular school!
