It wasn’t often that Lior brought her chinchilla to the vet, but she thought it best to at least get him a checkup if only to figure out just where to take him should he get sick. Malachi may have been very well behaved at home and during transport, but the fluffy little critter had become quite upset at being manhandled and hidden in the back of the cage shed used to cart him to the vet’s once he figured out where he was. Thankfully the vet Abigail had found for Lior to take him to was very patient and even mildly amused at Malachi’s antics. Thankfully the chinchilla had calmed down and the two were now on their way home. Lior couldn’t stand to keep him cooped up in the usual carrying crates that other people seemed to use for their pets. Malachi’s transport cage looked more like an oversized, elegant birdcage so the little guy could see what was going on around him. It seemed to settle him down unless he saw something that excited him, in which case the chinchilla was up and hopping about which made it very hard to carry him around. Lior could take a bit of jostling around from him, but when he really started to jump she occasionally wobbled and was thrown off balance herself. All things considered, Lior was lucky to have made it to the vet’s office and halfway home in one piece. She wasn’t exactly the best with directions, and while she knew her way to and from Shibusen like the back of her hand, the inner parts of Death City were still a mystery to her. Pausing near an alleyway entrance, Lior set Malachi’s cage down for a moment and leaned forward, hands pressing into her knees. She didn’t even know where she was walking to. The albino shifted as she straightened back up, adjusting the parasol she held over her head and glancing down at the chinchilla. Malachi was once again dashing about wild as ever, rocking the cage slightly and creating quite a ruckus. Picking the cage up once again, Lior wandered on, glancing down alleys and wondering if she really should have taken such a sketchy looking route. She seemed to have wandered behind a few apartment buildings without meaning to. Chinchilla and parasol in hand, she walked on, trying to find her way out or at least someone who could point her in the right direction.

Akuma had spent the better part of the day wondering around the city. This was his new home and he thought it would be for the better if he learned his was around the city. The main streets where the easy part and it didn’t take him long before he got used to that but the allies where what he needed to know. Allies where the places he hung out the most back home and it was a comfort stop for him. Most people don’t go down sketchy looking allies.
He had found a nice out of the way ally behind a few apartments to take a little brake. Akuma leaned on the wall of one of the building pulling out a pack of cigarettes from his jacket pocket. Placing one in his mouth he lights it taking in a deep breath and letting it out threw his nose. Akume stood there for a while still something caught his attention.
From the other side of the ally he heard the sound of something being put on the ground and looking over he saw a very pail looking girl. She looked like a porcelain doll and she had something in a cage next to her. Throwing the butt of the cigarette on the ground he made his way over to the girl. Placing his hands in his pockets he cocked his head slightly as he got closer to the two.
Holy crap he had to hold back a squee as he looked into the cage from a distance. It had to be one of the cutest things he had ever seen in his whole life. The girl that owns the small fur ball also had to be one of the cutest things he had seen in this city. Her outfit was so adorable on her Akuma has to keep it together or he might have just picked her up and take her home with him.
He got close to the two now and it was clear that the girl looked a little lost. Clearing his throat he called out to her.
”Pardon me but you look a little lost. Do you need any help?”
He couldn’t help the fact that his voice was naturally deep and sounded intimidating. His tattoos also did help his case. Stand with his hands in his pocket her tried to not look at scary as he knew he was. This girl was far too cute to let slip by and he just had to know what that animal was and if he could hold it but he would have to play this cool.

Lior paused as she heard someone call out to her. Looking around, she spotted him almost immediately since it wasn’t like the alley was full of people. Oh gracious, but he was tall. For a moment Lior blinked, more trying to decide whether to trust to stranger or not. This was an alleyway, and while the albino had next to no street smarts she knew that tattooed men that smelled like smoke were generally bad news, or at least that was what her nanny had always told her. Still, he just seemed so polite. If he meant to hurt her, wouldn’t he have been better off sneaking up on her? Lior thought so, and therefor decided to trust him.
Carefully setting the cage down beside her, Lior still appeared quite anxious, but that was just her default expression regardless. She had learned to be more trusting of people since coming to Death City, but she was still apprehensive and waiting for any cutting remarks of her appearance. At least for now all seemed to be well minus the fact that she was lost. Straightening her back, Lior spoke softly to the stranger, trying to not look like a deer in headlights if at all possible,
“I am lost, actually. I was on my way home from taking this little one to the vet, but I am unfamiliar with this part of Death City still for the most part.”
At the mention of the chinchilla in his cage, she peered down at the fluffy creature and smiled gently. He seemed rather excited at the sight of another person, dashing front and center to stare unblinking with huge black eyes, nose and whiskers twitching away. Giggling a bit, Lior lifted her gave to the stranger once again,
“You wouldn’t happen to know the way back to the more residential area of town, would you?”
Lior certainly hoped he did. Malachi was well behaved and social for a chinchilla, but he did get fussy if he was in the cage for too long and not at home. He had his own little room and everything to run about it, so being all cramped up wasn’t high on his list of enjoyable things. Still, he seemed content for now, so the albino wasn’t too worried. With any luck, the stranger would point her in the right direction and they would be home soon. Who knows, maybe he’d even walk her there to make sure she didn’t lose her way again.

Akuma watched carefully for a moment. If she showed any signs of being frighten of him he would have to think of something to ease her nerves. He really didn’t want to case any trouble for the young lady and honestly he wanted to get a better view of her pet. He watched her place the cage down and while she sounded a bit nervous she didn’t really look like she was scared of him. He gave her a little smile and walked closer to her and her small fur ball. Akuma bent down to the cage and held his hand out for the animal to sniff.
”Well I am new to this city but I have learned the streets pretty well. I’m sure I could get you back to the residential area of town.”
He pulled his hand away from the cage now and stands back up placing his hand in his pockets again but he wasn’t looking at the girl he was still looking at the animal in the cage.
”What is he? I have never seen something like him before. We don’t have animals like this in Japan.”
Akuma paused again looking over to the girl now and giving a little bit of a laugh. He was talking with this woman like he knew her but he nor she gave each other their names yet. He took a step closer to the girl and leaned down a bit to have a better view of her cute face. He gave her a very roughish yet charming grin.
”I’m sorry I didn’t get your name or can I just call you cutie pie? Mine is Akuma.”
He couldn’t help himself he was inherently a flirt with girl even if he didn’t feel attraction to them in that way. This girl was cute but maybe too naïve for his teats but she seemed like a sweet little thing. He would be more than happy to help her find her way home.

Malachi darted forth to sniff at the young man’s hand as soon as he put it up to the cage. Proper socialization had done wonders for him, even if it had only consisted of a younger Lior passing him around to the maids and such after she’d first gotten him. The chinchilla chittered quietly to himself before flicking his tail and going back to simply staring at the newcomer, whiskers twitching all the while. Lior giggled at how excited he was. She was a bit surprised when the stranger asked just what Malachi was. Had he really never seen a chinchilla before? It was her understanding that they were all over from the pet stores she’d been in, but then she heard the bit about Japan and suddenly things became clearer. Pressing her own hand down beside Malachi, she smiled gently,
“He’s a chinchilla. They’re native to South America, but the pet stores in the United States tend to carry them from what I’ve seen. This little one is my Malachi.”
She looked up at the young man, still smiling but tilting her head a bit,
“It seems he likes you.”
This idea was only reinforced by Malachi ignoring Lior’s attempt at affection to stare at the newcomer, pacing back and forth in the cage and chittering softly now and again. Then again he could also just want out in general, but Lior liked to think it was because he’d made a connection. After all, he was rather friendly for a small rodent that had likely once been considered a food source in times past. Lior had researched the fluffy creature heavily on her own time after getting Malachi as a birthday present on year from her parents, but she doubted that her would be rescuer wanted to hear all about chinchillas at the moment so she restrained herself.
Ah yes, how rude of her! Here she was being so friendly and she hadn’t even given this young man her name. His attempt at flirting with her went right over her head. Taking her hand away from the cage, Lior brought it to the side of her face, appearing confused. Cutie pie? Why would he call her that? She wasn’t cute. Rare seemed more accurate, or strange, but not cute. Perhaps he was just being polite. Akuma was it? Giving a timid smile, Lior extended a hand to shake,
“I am Lior Menke. It is a pleasure to meet your acquaintance, Akuma.”

A Chinchilla so that is what that little fur ball was. He was awfully cute and Akuma had to stop himself from looking back down at him. Those little eyes just drew him in but he had something more important to attend to and that was getting this girls number--I mean getting her home. He gave a little laugh at seeing that she didn’t get at all that he was flirting with her. He gently took her hand in his and although it wasn’t normal in Japan to shake hand or do anything of the like he knew different ways to greet people. He gently lifted her hand up a bit to his lips and pressed a kiss to the back of her hand before releasing it.
”The pleasure is all mine cutie pie.”
He wrapped his arm around her shoulders now guiding her to face the ally. He glanced down at her with a small smile on his face but it looked like he could be up to no good at the same time.
”I know it doesn’t look like it but this ally will get us where we need to go and you don’t have to worry about any guys jumping us because I’ll be here to keep you safe.”
To be honest Akuma would be the type of guy to jump a person in a back ally but not cute girls like Lior he had his standers. He let go of her arm now and walked a little ways ahead of her before turning around to walk backwards placing his hand in his pockets. He wasn’t that worried about tripping over something for the most part this ally was empty save for a few trash cans but those were up closer to the wall.
”So Lior tell me where are you from? No offence or anything but you have a funny accent.”
Said the Japanese boy. While it was true that he had learn English very young from his mother so he didn’t have much of an accent he still had never heard the differences in the American’s assents. Lior had a strange tone in her voice and he sure as hell couldn’t place where she was from.

Oh my, such a gentleman this young man was turning out to be. Lior could count on one hand the number of times someone had kissed her hand rather than shaken it. A light blush rose to her cheeks, and the pet name only made it worse. She wasn’t used to such politeness. The albino was surprised he wasn’t taunting her about her appearance, but people in Death City really didn’t seem to mind. Well, with the exception of Bang, but she had apologized for that outburst at least.
Lior hunched her shoulders as he slung an arm around them, though not out of discomfort so much as out of habit. Her shoulders were usually up near to her ears and her face usually anxious. Hopefully Akuma would take her blank face and doe-eyed stare as the sign that she wasn’t actually distrusting of him, her body was just preprogrammed to act like it after years of bullying. Old habits did die hard after all. Turning with him to face the alley, she nodded at his words and looked up at him, a shy smile tugging at the corners of her mouth,
“I have every faith in you. I truly appreciate your helping me, Akuma. I’d be wandering around here until dusk otherwise.”
As he released her to walk a bit ahead of them, Lior adjusted the parasol in her hand to make sure it was properly kept over her head. She then plucked the cage still containing Malachi from the ground and quickly hurried along after her newfound guide and perhaps even friend with a bit of luck. She’d have thought he wasn’t the normal type she hung around with but then Bang flashed through her mind and she suddenly withdrew that thought. No, his type was a bit familiar to her after all.
Lior tilted at first. A funny accent? So he’d picked up on it! It struck her as strange that he would be the first to hear that hint of what her father liked to call Chicago rage in her voice. Apparently it was a bit harsh sounding, but Lior had been raised In Chicago by her father who’d been born and raised in the windy city but also by her mother who was very much from New York. Her accent was barely there and a bit skewed in between the state lines, apparently becoming much thicker when she was upset, not that she could even recall the last time that happened. Giggling a bit, she smiled at him,
“I am from Chicago. If you think my accent is funny you’d probably keel over laughing if you heard my father speak or worse, my mother. She’s from New York City.”
Tilting her head and twirling her parasol a bit, she looked up at Akuma,
“Would it be safe to assume by your name that you are from Japan?”

Akuma gave a laugh at her comment about wandering around until dusk. Could this girl get any cuter? He didn’t think so but he could be wrong. At her answer to his question he cocked his head to the side. Chicago? Where was that? The United States where so big be had no idea where all these cities where save for New York because let’s be honest most people know where that is. But where ever her city was it explain her accent and while it is different from what he was used he thought it gave this girl a little more personality.
At her question he gave her a sly grin stopping his moment so that she would catch up with him. He walked next to her down leaning his head slightly to look down at her now.
”Well I did say before that we don’t have chinchillas in Japan but yes I am from there. I learned English from my mother when I was younger so I don’t have much of an accent but I know it’s still there and I know some words I say it stick out.”
He was looking her over again not so subtly but it wasn’t quite in pervy way as well. He was just taking in her sight as a smile passed over his face again. She looked like a porcelain doll and while he had thought this before now that he was closer to her he could see it better. She seems like such a shy girl and her posturing told him that she might have had problems with people before in her past just from her doe eyes and the way she acted when he touched her and he was so bold as to do it again. As they walked he reached out and took a lock of her white hair in his hand and brought it up to his lips kissing it before letting it fall threw his fingers.
”You’re really beautiful do you know that Lior. You look just like a porcelain doll and your eyes are the most beautiful shade of red like rubies.”
Akuma knew that was very blunt and so sudden but he was the type of guy to speak his mind whether it was nice or mean and he honestly thought Lior was very beautiful.

Ah, so he was from Japan! Lior appeared just the tiniest bit smug in having assumed correctly. She wondered if learning English for him had been as difficult as learning languages for her when she was young. She’d picked up English first of course being American, but she’d learned Hebrew and Yiddish alongside that as well. By the time she was five she was learning French and German to better communicate with her parents who were both from overseas and preferred their native tongues be spoken in the privacy of their own homes. But she had to admit, Akuma spoke English very well. She wondered what part of Japan he was from, but held her tongue for now. Always time to get to know people better later,
“I was brought up with Yiddish and Hebrew alongside English because I am Jewish. I learned French and German as well so talk with my grandparents. They emigrated from Europe after World War 2. I learned Dutch as well but that was more out of boredom than anything else.”
Lior cast a glance down to Malachi. He’s settled down in his cage, face tucked in towards his paws although his tail flicked to and fro still. It appeared he was ignoring them now. As the albino turned her head back to look up at her unlikely guide, she caught him staring at her. Oh boy, this again. Lior averted her eyes almost instantly, mistaking the look for one of criticism and not catching the little smile he got gazing down at her. He was going to switch to taunting her any minute now, she just knew it. It really was the same everywhere she went, but no, not quite.
She flinched as his hand neared her person again, another involuntary action if nothing else. It was her hair he was after? For a moment she expected him to give the long, white strands a good yank but no such thing occurred. Daring to turn her eyes on him, she barely caught him kissing the lock of hair before letting it fall back to her shoulders. Beautiful? Has she heard him right, had he really just called her beautiful? A look of genuine surprise appeared on her face. A doll? Rubies? Wait, he was complimenting her, that was what this was! But why? She was so…odd. She was a freak of nature, why was he being so kind to her? With a bright red tint coloring her cheeks, she adjusted her parasol and looked down at Malachi so Akuma hopefully wouldn’t catch her blushing so furiously,
“I-I-I don’t know about that, I’m j-j-just strange, really. I’ve b-been told as much m-many a time, I’m naught but a f-freak of nature.”
She glanced up at him,
“Perhaps you n-need glasses?”

Akuma looked confused at her for a moment at what she just said. Freak of nature? What was she talking about? Akuma was surprised at her reaction to his comment. But the smile soon came back to his face and he started to laugh at this. Lior was blushing and she thought of herself as something she obviously was not. He turned his gaze back down to her still chuckling.
”Glass? No I don’t think I need glass they would only obscure my lovely view of you. And what is this about being a freak of nature? Lior you are one in a million just on your looks alone but that doesn’t make you a freak.”
His eyes soften as he was looking at her down as he light placed a finger under her chin so as to move her face to look up at him.
”I’m not lying when I say I think you’re beautiful. I’m guessing people don’t say that a lot to you do they?”
He was looking her face over now, just her face nothing else. She looked so cute with that blush on her cheeks and it stuck out so much on her pail skin. His finger moved from her chin and moved lightly over her cheek. He then cupped her cheek with his hand now gently stroking she skin with his thumb.
”I don’t think you are a freak of nature Lior and I can say that safely even though we just meet.”
Akuma was a bold man that likes to push the limits and do bold things but this time was a little different. While still cupping her cheek he leaned down now pressing his lips to her forehead. It was a quick kiss and he pulled back just far enough so that he could look at her face now. He may has just meet this girl but Akuma was the type of man that if he knew what he wanted he would go for it and at this moment he wanted this sweet, lovely, beautiful, girl.

Why did he feel the need to be so kind to her? Lior couldn’t comprehend it; she simply was not capable of such a thing. All her life she’d been bullied and teased mercilessly. It was the whole reason why she was so sheltered. It wasn’t a situation here there was the possibility of talking things out or changing her behavior because that was not why she was bullied. The albino could not change her genetics, and so the most obvious solution if a rather problematic one still had been to lock her up safe and sound within the Menke estate and have her home schooled and privately tutored away from harsh gazes and cutting words.
She didn’t understand his line of reasoning. Yes, she was indeed one in a million or perhaps even more than that, but that only made her stick out like a sore thumb. She gave a small smile, one that was cast down to Malachi who was softly chattering to them from his cage. Her face was melancholy at best as she spoke to him, appearing resigned in how down she felt about herself,
“You’re one of very few people to tell me that, but I believe it does. There are places where people kill albinos, you know. They grind up our bones and use our hair for old medicine. I guess I’m lucky in the aspect that I was born somewhere that does not occur, even if I have been on the receiving end of far too many harsh words and one particularly large rock.”
Lior thanked her lucky stars that the scar on her temple was essentially hidden from view by her hair, although the skin was starkly pink compared to the rest of her. She paused as he touched her again. There wasn’t a flinch this time but she still leaned slightly away from him at first, even if she corrected herself almost immediately. There was no need to be distrusting of him after all; he’d given her no reason to behave as such. Blinking slowly, Lior merely stared up at Akuma as he spoke to her. She was hardly beautiful. She wondered if maybe he himself was on in a million, thinking that she was something to be called lovely. Those sorts of words should be saved for things that were truly so, like flowers or precious gems. Again, that small smile appeared on her face. All of the resigned self-loathing that Lior had within her shown through in it,
“No they do not, but I can understand why. I am an oddity, something to be avoided.”
The blush remained on her face, although it thankfully dulled some to a light dusting of pink in her cheeks rather than that terrible flush of red. Her eyes darted briefly to his hand, more out of curiosity than anything else. She didn’t understand why he was touching her face, let alone doing so with such gentleness and care. Still, there was a soothing quality to it, his lightly stroking her cheek with his thumb. She didn’t realize it but the albino did lean her head ever so slightly into the palm of his hand.
Again, Lior was taken aback and honestly a bit flattered by what he was saying. Was he toying with her? No, that seemed a bit too elaborate at the moment, building her up just to tear her down. But that had to mean he meant what he said. She was so busy being caught up in all her thoughts that the feeling of him pressing his lips against her forehead made her freeze entirely. It wasn’t as though she’d never been kissed on the forehead before, she endured such affections on a daily basis from her family and even Abigail should her former nanny think she needed comforting, but from a young man she’d only just met it was surprising. She’d shut her eyes for a moment when the feeling registered, more pink rising to her cheeks again.
As Lior’s eyes opened, she took on the appearance of a deer in headlights. She stared up at Akuma with wide eyes, appearing a bit confused if nothing else. He was being so kind to her, it was charming for certain but she was also entirely out of her element. She felt tears welling up in her eyes, not due to fear or sadness, but because she was in a sense overwhelmed. Realizing this really was neither the time nor the place, she blinked rapidly to try and make them cease, expertly holding her parasol in place by adjusting her one shoulder so she could wipe her eyes,
“I apologize, I-I suppose I’m just n-not used to people being so kind to me. My experience has been quite the opposite, I’m afraid.”

Akuma looked confused for a moment by what she had just told him. He knew albinos where rare but he didn’t know what in some places they were killed for medicine. Old world ideas just never seemed to stick with him. Even back home he strayed away from what was considered costume and traditional. He had also been the type to break the mold even with his own looks only truly being half Japanese.
He blinked as few times as he listen and watched her. This poor girl has had a though life just based on her appearance. While in a way he could relate to that with his tattoos it was still not the same at all. She was born like this she couldn’t chose while he on the other hand embraced the tattoos and what they meant for other back home. He looked a little crest fallen as he looked into Lior’s red eyes. He could see the tears and wondered if he had done something wrong.
A slight smile crossed his face when she did say that her tears, while true he did cause them, they weren’t out of fear or anything like that. He wasn’t sure what was coming over him but even know this girl for just a short time he didn’t want to see her cry. At her last comment Akuma leaned in closer to her face.
”Well then let me make up for others mistakes.”
He shut his eyes as get got closer to her. He didn’t know why he left the need or the desire to do what he was about to do but it just felt right and sometime you just need to act on those feeling. His lips touch lightly on either side of her cheeks kissing away the tears what she didn’t wipe away. He pulled back again opening up his eyes and reaching out to tuck some of her hair back behind her ear.
”Don’t cry Lior there is no need for you to cry over something like this. You are far too beautiful to let these tears stain your face.”
Akuma had become so wrapped up with Lior that he hand forgotten what he was doing in the first place. Wasn’t he helping her find her way back to her place? Well that would just have to wait a little while longer he was enjoying himself to much right now and he had no intention of letting Lior leave him just yet.

Oh no, he looked sad! Well maybe sad wasn’t the right word. Pitiful perhaps? Yes, that seemed a bit closer; however Lior knew that that look was aimed at her. It was probably the tears. It was usually the tears that got to people. The defining moment for her was always whether they tried to apologize for things that were not their fault or just ignore her pathetic sniveling entirely. It was usually the latter if she was out in public.
The smile confused her. It wasn’t malicious enough to be expressing enjoyment over her past sufferings, but it didn’t look exactly joyous. It was gentle, but then for some reason that seemed likely. In the brief moments they’d known each other, everything about Akuma seemed gentle to her. He looked a bit rough around the edges and smelled like cigarettes, but so did many people she’d encountered. In this case she believed that the image did not match up to the heart contained within it. In a way that calmed her, made her trust him a bit more considering that the same could be said of her. Other usually always pegged her for a freak before even bothering to speak to her, so she certainly wasn’t going to look down upon this young man for being so gentle and kind while looking more like a villain if nothing else.
His lips were on her face again. Was this sort of thing normal in Japan? Lior didn’t know, but if it was then the albino imagined that it must be a lovely place if everyone was so kind to one another. Somehow she doubted that was the case and that she was merely letting her imagination run wild, but she couldn’t see the harm in that. She felt her face heating up again, the red returning to darken her cheeks and even the tip of her nose and the shells of her ears. Gracious, but this was embarrassing. More tears were threatening to appear, but for the first time in her life, she willed them away. And it worked.
There was a strange fluttering feeling in her chest, but Lior didn’t recognize it and pegged it as nerves. She wasn’t generally so friendly or close with people she’d just met, but again there was the fact that Akuma had given her no reason to be fearful or distrusting of him, at least not yet. It was more affection that she had been given by anyone not in her family, and it was certainly of a more romantic sort than that as well. She smiled just a bit,
“That isn’t fair, though. You shouldn’t have to make up for the acts of others, especially when you’ve done nothing wrong.”
Of course she could be speaking too soon. There was still that glimmer of worry, that little voice in her head telling her that this would not last, that he would turn on her at some point. It may be minutes or days from their current meeting, but there was that chance it would happen, and part of Lior was fixating on it still. Again, she spun the parasol, rotating it over her head by twisting the handle with her fingers. A nervous tick. She wasn’t quite sure what to say. Lior lowered her head a bit, hoping that with some of her hair falling over her face the blush wouldn’t be quite so evident,
“If that is the case, then I’ve cried far too much already. Crying’s all I’ve ever done, or at least that’s how it feels to me but…”
She tapped the heel of one foot against the pavement, hunched her shoulders for a moment. She appeared hesitant, but apparently got over whatever it was that was bothering her. Lifting her head, she stood slightly taller so she could reach him, leaning forward gently pressing her lips to his cheek for the briefest of moments before pulling away and taking on the appearance of a strawberry. Shy though her smile appeared to be, it was far more joyous than it had been previous,
“Thank you, Akuma. For being so kind to me.”

Akuma was watching her every moment every flutter of her eye lashes, how she twirled her umbrella, down the just the way she was standing. He was making sure he didn’t push anything too far, he had a tendency to do that type of thing and he didn’t want to put this girl off. He was really interested in her. From what he was seeing so far there was nothing about her that wasn’t, well, wonderful. When she spoke he looked her in the eyes, or at least tried too, to let her know that he was listening to her. He gave her a little smile again.
”Well then I think it might be time to change that. I don’t want to see you cry any more. I would rather see you laugh or at the very least smile.”
He stopped for a moment when he was she shrink a bit. Oh no did he say something wrong? But no, that wasn’t it as he felt the light touch of her soft lips on his cheek. Akuma couldn’t help but grin at this as he brought his fingers up to where her lips had just been.
”Why Lior if I didn’t know better I would think that you might be coming on to me.”
He laughed to show that it was a joke but his smile was still there seeing that, however shy it might be, she too wore a smile. It seemed more honest than the few others that he had seen before and there was a note of pride that it was because of him that she smiled like this.
”There we go you look far better with a smile on your face then having tears in your eyes.”
He moved now taking the cage of the chinchilla in his hand as the other one wrapped around Lior’s waist. He moved her slightly closer to him as he started to lead her back down the alley again.
”I think I have made us stall enough let’s get back to what we were doing before.”
He glanced down at her down arm still wrapped around her.
”Hope you don’t mind but I prefer to have you closer to me.”
If he was going to have to let her go later he wanted her as close to him as he could right now. He never thought he would find a girl in this city as attractive and cute as Lior. Hell he never even thought about looking for a girl, or guy, when he came here but things just kind of happen and he liked them to happen fast. He was far to impatient to wait around when he found something he liked.

Lior hadn’t the slightest clue as to what he was talking about, but she was glad that Akuma didn’t seem put off by the small bit of affection she used as a way of thanking him for not being nearly as terrible as more were to her. Moreover, he seemed quite pleased by just a small peck on the cheek. Lior was thankful. The albino wasn’t really an affectionate person. She’d gush over things she enjoyed and also over people she found to have greatness in them, but for the most part she refrained from being physical if only as not to offend anyone’s personal boundaries.
She was a bit confused by his wording, though. Coming on to him? Was that a good thing? Curious, the albino tilted her head and decided to ask,
“Coming on to you? What does that mean?”
Lior had no idea what she was really asking of course. She’d lived the sheltered life of a wealthy young woman after all, and one single year of high school before attending Shibusen hadn’t taught her much as she had still kept to herself for the most part, only having one or two people she spoke to and not having been bold enough to call anyone friend. Whatever he meant it was apparently funny, and so she smiled. She decided she enjoyed hearing the sound of Akuma laughing. Somehow it was comforting to her.
The blush was back on her face at his compliments on her smile. However it only made her smile more. Lior tried not to grin so much but she was just so flattered! The dimples in her cheeks became evident and everything and she fussed again with her parasol, twisting it around and around by the handle over her head. For a moment she considered protesting as Akuma opted to carry Malachi for her. Then again, it was rather difficult, holding a parasol and a chinchilla. She decided it was alright after all and nodded her appreciation, still a bit too flustered to speak, especially as his arm appeared around her waist.
Not thinking anything of it, she let him pull her a bit closer. Malachi noticed the change in who carried his cage, skittering to the middle and standing on his hind legs to sniff up at Akuma’s hand. He settled down again once his curiosity had been sated, curling up in a corner and chittering softly. Lior chuckled a bit,
“He really does like you.”
True, it was probably best they get a move on. After all, Lior would hate to be late getting home again. Abigail had nearly had a heart attack when she’d been over to Lavender’s, but at least she’d called her to let her old nanny know that she was alright and not lying dead in a gutter somewhere. Lior blushed once again at Akuma’s comment, although she wasn’t entirely sure why. Gazing up at him through white eyelashes, she blinked and appeared somewhat thoughtful,
“No, I don’t mind at all, but why is it that you wish to be so close to me?”
The albino truly was dense, but at the very least she was now less apprehensive than before. Her shoulders relaxed, no longer hanging up around her ears and her back was straight. Her voice was steadier even if it was still soft, but that was merely how she sounded. Part of her wondered if Akuma had a plan of how to return to the residential area of Death City. She certainly hoped so. She fully intended to invite him in for tea for troubling him with her poor sense of direction.
