Akume stopped walking for a moment at her question as he looked down to her. He blinked a few times and then laughed. This girl was just far too cute even when she was confused and it was clear she was far more than a little sheltered. He shook his head and started walking again.
”Don’t worry about it Lior.”
He gave a skinner again when the pink came back to her face. If he didn’t know any better he would have thought her skin was red and not white, but then again that was his entire fault. At the feeling of his hand being sniffed he looked down to the cute little fur ball in the cage and smiled down at his. At Lior’s comment he spoke rather as a reaction to her statement than anything else.
”Well I have been told that animals are a great judge of character.”
While he had a hard exterior and could be very mean to people he but had always gotten along with animals and small children. When Lior spoke again he turned his attention back onto her. At her question the gin on his face widened and he leaned down a little closer to her and at the same time pulled her even closer to him.
”I thought that would have been obvious by now. I like you Lior. I like everything about you and the thought of having to let you go, well I’m not that found of it at the moment but I know I have to at some point in order to get you home. So I want to keep you close to me till then. I hope I’m not being to forward but when I find someone that I like I want to keep them close.”
He was still grinning at her as they walked and waited to see how she would react to that. If their past encounter had any indication he was expecting the blush on her face to deep and for her to look totally flustered. She was so innocent and shy and he was just loving it far too much.

Apparently her question was funny. Lior still didn’t get it and looked at Akuma a bit quizzically, her brows furrowed and her eyes a bit suspicious. Still, she let it go as he did say not to worry about it. She assumed that it was nothing of great importance otherwise he wouldn’t have dismissed it so quickly, or at least that was how her brain worked the situation out to be. She wondered if it was just some sort of slang term was wasn’t familiar with. Yes, that seemed likely in which case she was sure it wasn’t too important. If that was the case then she’d probably run into it again at some point and ask about it then. It was never too late to learn after all.
Lior was thankfully that her pet seemed to like her newfound acquaintance. Malachi didn’t like everyone, in fact he rather disliked one of the maids that had accompanied her to death city. She suspected it was because she was the only one in the house not charged with feeding him, but that was just her suspicions. She could always be wrong. Still, the albino did like to think that Akuma was right. Well, mostly right. She wasn’t so sure that it applied to dogs, or at least not the one that had bitten her when she was a little girl. Perhaps it was just that she seemed so pathetic as a person that it had decided she needed to be punished. Lior could believe that, but she still would remain petrified of canines nonetheless.
Again she was being pulled closer to him but Lior didn’t mind. The closeness of his face did keep her cheeks tinted a brilliant pink, though. Without really thinking, her head lolled against his shoulder given their proximity. It seemed a natural thing to do as she gazed up at him with a rather doe-eyed look. For a moment, she was confused again, and it showed on her face as a rather blank stare. Lior had never heard of such a thing before, wanting to keep someone close to them for fear of letting them go. The albino didn’t even think, the word simply left her mouth out of compulsion,
“But why? There’s nothing likeable about me. I am an oddity, and a dull one at that.”
She meant every word. She did not even appear sad, if anything she was entirely passive. Lior wasn’t even aware that this would be seen as talking down on herself. It was something she’d done for years. She assumed she spoke truthfully because this was what she had been thinking constantly day in and day out, her thoughts and feelings of self-loathing only having been reinforced by instances of bullying. With her head against his shoulder now, her head jostled this way and that as they walked, white strands falling astray just enough to reveal the tail end of a line that stood out against the rest of her skin upon her left temple. The scar was a reminder, even when usually hidden, of just how long Lior had been thinking and feeling like nothing more than a freak.

Akuma furrowed his brow at her statement as he looked down at her. He couldn’t understand why she was having such a hard time with just expecting what he was saying.
”Nothing likeable about you? If there was nothing likeable about you do you think I would still be here at this very moment? From what I have seen you have some amazing qualities about you Lior. For instance any other person would have given me one look over back in that ally and ran but you took a chance on me a total stranger to you. Not many people would do that. Where is all this self-loathing coming from? I don’t understand how an amazing girl like you can feel so natively about yourself.”
Akuam stopped again because as he was looking down at her he saw the scar come into view on her temple. He stopped walking and faced her again reaching a hand up to pull the hair away from her face. That scar did someone give it to her? Was she really bullied that much because of her look? His eyes soften again as he looked to the scar and then back down to Lior’s red eyes.
”Lior… How did you get this scar if I may ask? Was this given to you by a bully or something else?”
He felt a strange tightness in his chest now as he waited for her to answer his question moving his hand away from her temple now. He barely knew this girl but he already felt the need to keep her safe. Why was that? Maybe it was guilt that he was once a bully and maybe one of the worst ones back home. Hell he couldn’t even escape it when he came here bullying the only other Japanese student he had meet just because of what she used to be. And now he was face to face with a girl that had been seemingly been bullied all her life. Maybe this was his chance to redeem himself?

Was taking a chance on a stranger so unheard of? Lior found that odd, it was something she did often enough. Granted that also required her keeping a tight enough leash on her social anxieties and general fear of the unknown to even speak to them, but she’d gotten better at that since arriving to Death City. She’d met so many lovely people after all. Rhett, Bang Bang, Lavender, they were all so great. It was a completely foreign concept to Lior, having friends. She was glad to have made them, but then she had given Akuma the same chance she’d give anyone. Smiling gently up at him, she explained herself,
“It’s quite simple, really. I give others the chance that most never wanted to give me in the past. I treat others how I wish to be treated. It isn’t such a strange concept, more one that isn’t used. It isn’t that I blindly trust it is that I believe that everyone deserves the benefit of the doubt, at least in the very beginning. I have rarely been given such chances.”
Technically, Lior’s family had made up for this to a point. The Menkes were so wealthy it was almost nauseating, and their little girl had wanted for nothing while she was cooped up inside and home schooled. Well, almost nothing, that is. She’d wanted company and friends that weren’t the many members of the house staff or her brothers, but the albino had always been sure to show that she was ever thankful for what she already had.
Another pause followed by another soft touch. Lior tilted her head a bit as he moved her hair aside. It took her a moment along with his line of questioning to remind her what he was staring at. Right, the scar. It wasn’t something she thought of often; it was only a thin line of pink against white after all. The look on her face was controlled, resigned. The albino was completely at peace with what had happened; in fact she didn’t even blame the girls responsible. Raising her free hand, she ran her fingers along it as she spoke,
“Oh don’t fuss; it’s so little after all. I got this when I was around nine years old. A few of the girls I attended school with at the time cornered me in the play yard during recess, decided to stone me for lack of a better term. One of the girls was rather big for her age, muscular too. The rocks she threw were bigger, knocked me down the second it hit me. They stopped and ran when they saw blood, thankfully.”
Her hand fell, the other continuing to twist the parasol above her head. Lior seemed completely unfazed by the fact that in her childhood a group of other children had been so unkind. But then she was used to it. It meant nothing but more of the same to her,
“Five stitches and a big commotion over a minor cut is what it all boiled down to. My older brother was the one who took me to the nurse’s office. He raised hell when he found out what had happened, tracked down every single girl himself and put frogs in their lockers as payback. I thought it was silly, but he seemed terribly proud of himself. My parents pulled me out of school after that. I received private tutoring at home until I enrolled at Shibusen.”

It was a little disturbing to him how much Lior didn’t seemed to be fazed by the fact that she was stoned as a girl based on her looks. Everything about that seemed wrong in ever sense of the word. She shouldn’t be acting so calm telling him this story so even seem so detached from what it really meant. He could only draw one conclusion from that and it was she was just so used to being bullied that is all she thought of herself as a freak that deserved to be treated that way.
He didn’t know what came over him but just hearing her story and the way she told it caused him to have a tight chest again. Without really thinking he gently set the cage down and turned back to Lior wrapping his arms around her in a hug. He brought her close to him and held her there in a firm yet gentle hold placing one hand on the back of her head.
”How can I not fuss hearing that story?”
He murmured her turning his head slightly so that he could get a better look at her face but still didn’t release her from his hold.
”Lior you didn’t deserve to be treated like that no matter how different you looked from those others girls. It’s not okay to think of yourself of any less than what you really are. You are not a freak Lior just a girl who happens to have been born looking a little different from everyone else.”
He finely let her go from his hug moving his hand so that they were now on either side of her shoulders. A warm smile passed over his face as he looked down at her.
”I know I have said it before but I think I need to emphasize it again; you are the most beautiful woman I have ever meet in my life Lior. I’m not joking and no I don’t need glasses and I’m not crazy. Inside and out I can see as plain as day your beauty and I wish you could see it as well.”

Lior paused a moment, taken off guard by the sudden gesture. It wasn’t like she’d not been hugged before, but rather that generally she didn’t understand why he was embracing her in the first place. Looking back, her family had of course done the same thing. Her mother had been hysterical when she’d accompanied her only daughter to the emergency room and even her father, usually the spitting image of peace and tranquility, was a bit irate at the situation. Asher had been rather upset too if his revenge was anything to go by. Lior was only thankful that Tom had been so young and therefor incapable of fully grasping what was going on. Even still, the albino failed to realize what all the fuss was about. It was just a thin line, nothing more.
Not really knowing how to respond, Lior merely let Akuma hold. She made no move to return the display of affection or anything. She wasn’t bold enough. Her one arm lay trapped between them, still bent to hold up the parasol, while the other merely fell by her side. There was a slight flutter that she became aware of, an odd sensation of butterflies in her stomach. She mistook it for anxiety. Lior was not used to such displays of affection, at least not from other people that were not somehow related to her. Still, she did not mind it. The feeling of his arms around her did make her feel safe, secure. Lior relaxed a bit.
As he continued to speak, she tilted her head only very slightly, looking at him out of the corner of her eyes. The muted red in them doubted still. She had heard similar words from her family, but she had often never bothered listening. They were her family; it was their job to tell her such things. But this was perhaps the first time another person had said as much to her. That she did not deserve to have suffered, that she was not a freak, that she was only different and that was okay.
As he let her go, Lior took a timid step back if only thinking that such a thing was proper. Still managing to maintain eye contact, what he said next had her blushing up to her ears. Beautiful? Her? She was beautiful? The albino was stunned if not entirely overwhelmed. Once again she felt that lump in her throat but she wouldn’t cry again. She didn’t want to upset Akuma. Blinking a bit more to be sure to keep the tears away, she bowed her head, utterly astonished,
“I…”
She tapped one of her heels against the pavement briefly, hunching her shoulders as a bashful but still joyous smile appeared on her face as she gazed down at her feet,
“I don’t know what to say.”

Akuma gave her a kind smile in return as he reach out placing a finger under her chin and rasing her head up so that she was looking at him again.
”You don’t have to say anything. Now let’s get you home I’m sure you have someone that is going to be getting worried about you.”
He moved his hand away from her face again and picked up her chinchilla for her. This time he didn’t reach out and pull her close to him even if he wanted too. He was making her blush so much at the moment and while it did make her look awfully cute he didn’t want to give her a sensory overload. He did however offer out his arm for her to take it was corny and he knew it but it seemed like something she might like. It would at least keep her close to him.
Akuma gave her a charming smile again as he lead her down a few allies till they arrived at the residential area of the city. Now he knew if he wanted to his place they would have to go to the cheaper part town but seeing as Akuma hadn’t seen Lior there before he assumed she must live in the middle or maybe even the upper class part of the city. He paused again looking around for a moment and then looking back down to her.
”So where do we go from here? What part of the city do you live in I can walk you all the way home if you like.”
He stopped again thinking for a moment as he was looking down at Lior. If he led her home that might be the last time he would see her. He honestly had no idea if she even went to the school or not, something he didn’t ask but he would save that question for another time right now he had something little more important on his mind.
”Lior, if you don’t mind, is it all right if I take you out on a date sometime soon? I know we just meet but I really like you and I would be honored if you went on a date with me.”
Again he was a straight to the point type of guy and he watched her face careful as he waited for her answer to his question.

Ah, but what he said was true. Lior was sure Abigail was probably pacing back and forth up and down the halls waiting for her to return. She wasn’t too late, but the albino was so punctual that for her to be even five minutes past due could be cause for alarm. Hopefully the older woman wouldn’t be too cross with her. Taking his arm, a timid smile remained playing upon her lips as the two progressed. Lior was surprised h hadn’t simply put an arm around her again. Part of her wondered why while subconsciously she wished he had.
That smile Akuma gave her as they walked onward through the maze of alleyways was likely the most dashing Lior had ever laid eyes upon. It brought a brighter flush to her cheeks and made the butterflies in her stomach take flight once again. Strange, she couldn’t quite put her finger on why., but then she was still mistaking these feelings as signs that she was nervous although that couldn’t be more of the opposite. She wasn’t nervous, not in the slightest. On the contrary, she was likely more relaxed than she had been in several days, another thing that struck her as odd. Still, she cleared her mind of such mysteries as they exited out of the hidden streets, thankfully at a place Lior recognized. She knew perfectly where to continue on. Gazing up at Akuma through white lashes, she nodded her head towards the right,
“My house is this way. It isn’t too far, perhaps three blocks from here.”
Tilting her head to gaze up at him through white lashes, Lior smiled a bit more,
“And I would certainly hope you would walk me all the way home. I intend to invite you in for tea for putting up with my terrible sense of direction. That being said, would you care to join me for tea once I’m home safe and sound?”
The albino had intended not to do so until they reached her home, but now seemed a good a time as any. Besides, it gave her a chance to properly ask as well as an excuse as to why she wished for Akuma to walk her all the way home rather than just saying their farewells outside of the alleyway. It seemed the blonde had another way for them to spend more time together, though, one that caught Lior completely by surprise. A date? Surely he didn’t mean a date as in a romantic outing, there was no way, after all he was speaking to her.
As the full realization hit her head on, Lior blushed so hard it was a wonder blood wasn’t coming out of her nose. A date. Akuma was asking her out! What should she do? Had she been given the chance, Lior would have told him she’d think about it and consult Abigail or even Lavender before saying yes, but she didn’t exactly have the option plus she didn’t want to hurt his feelings. Blinking up at the young man, she couldn’t deny that he was handsome, but that only made the prospect more daunting. There was Akuma who was quite dashing and then there was Lior who was nothing short of a circus freak. Then again, he had called her beautiful and she could tell by the look he’d had on his face that he’d meant it. Pursing her lips she seemed to think for a moment before letting the feeling of her heart fluttering about in her chest decide for her, the words tumbling from her lips before she could stop them,
“The honor would be all mine, Akuma. I would love for you to take me out on a date.”

Hearing her answer to his question caused a smile to spread over his lips. It wasn’t like the dashing one that he had giving her before no this one was just a reaction to her answer. He was overjoyed that she had agreed to go on a date with him. He was pretty sure she was going to tell him that she was going to have to think about it. Akuma might be a handsome man and he knew it but he was also a tough looking man as well with all those tattoos but Lior had not addressed that even once which made him happy about that. Girl either seemed to love them or hate them and the love was mostly those girls who wanted to date a bad boy which in all honesty what Akuma was. He started to escort her back down the street in the direction that she had indicated before.
”As for your offer I will have to say yes on that. Tea does sound kind of nice right now and as for putting up with your bad sense of directing.”
Head leaned down now very quickly giving her a kiss on her pink cheek before standing back up straight again with a mischievous smile on his face.
”If it wasn’t for that I then I wouldn’t have meet such a wonderful woman today.”
He knew full well that the kiss on the cheek was out of the blue and he knew it would cause Lior to turn as shade of red again. Had he not know she was an albino to begin with he would have thought red was her normal skin tone at this point but he found it so cute that it was so easy to make her blush like this. He was going to have so much fun with this one. But those thought quickly left his mind as he stopped when they got close to her home. Holy crap did she live here? These houses where so big. Akuma blinked a few times and looked back down to Lior.
”You live here?”
Akuma was absolutely amazed at the size of the place compared to his small studio apartment he shared with his cat. He only wish he had a place this big for Uma to run around she would love it. He then glanced down at the chinchilla he was carrying and wondered for a moment if Uma would get along with it. She was a very laid back cat who only really seemed to want pets or running around the apartment at four in the morning as fast as she can yowling. That was always fun to wake up too.

Akuma looked so happy! Lior was glad to have been the cause of such a smile even if she didn’t fully comprehend why. Why anyone would want to hang out with someone who belonged in some circus freak show was beyond her, but if keeping her company made the blonde happy then so be it. In all honesty she was more than a little glad to find herself in his presence. Seeing the smile he got at her answer made Lior smile just a bit brighter, but she blushed and turned her face away to look at the sidewalk before he could see. Unfortunately she had a need to glance back up at him with those muted red eyes of hers and give him a smile. So he would join her for tea, excellent! Lior wasn’t quite sure why the thought made her happy but it did.
The kiss on her cheek was a sneak attack for certain. The albino hardly felt it, but her hand flew to cover that side of her face as she turned bright red. Hunching her shoulders, Lior obtained a bashful look upon her face and pursed her lips to try not to grin like a fool. Her heart fluttered in her chest and it was so difficult not to smile. Lior couldn’t remember the last time she’d felt so relaxed or gleeful. Akuma certainly had a strange effect on her to be certain.
They’d started out in and around the middle class area of housing, your run of the mill two story houses having surrounded them at the time. The further they progressed, though, the larger the houses got, and while most were still only two stories they began to look far more like miniature mansions than houses. Lior was completely unfazed. The house she had grown up in back in Chicago was easily four times the size of any house they passed by as they moved along towards her place of residence. Akuma seemed a bit taken aback, though. Was her living in such a place so strange? As they turned onto her street she giggled a bit at the look on his face,
“Yes, I live here. Although if you want to get technical, that house there is mine.”
Lior pointed with her parasol four houses down from them. The moment the shade left her the sunlight made its presence apparent. She was so used to being mostly covered that the feel of it stung slightly, even if only for a few seconds. Having pointed out her home, she righted the parasol back over her head. Lior’s home was two stories and enormous. The lawn possessed a small walkway of larger stones set in gravel surrounded by carefully gardened hydrangea bushes intermingled with roses and a lone cactus that seemed very out of place despite their being in the desert.
The house itself was made to appear as though it were built out of old stone, huge grey slabs having been cemented together. Arched gothic windows could be seen both large and small, though only one appeared to be allowing light in. The rest were dark, covered by curtains from the inside for Lior’s sake. The roof was made of dark shingles, and the doors that greeted them as they walked up the pathway were made of heavy, dark wood with golden handles. Lior released Akuma’s arm only to trot ahead and open the door for him, turning as she did so and giving him a smile,
“Welcome to my home. Please come in!”

Akuma’s eyes fallowed where the where the parasol was being pointed. He had to stop himself from his jaw dropping as he looked at Lior’s home. Her house was absolutely enormous far bigger than some of the other ones that where around it. Akuma looked down at Lior and then back to the house and then back to Lior.
”Here?”
He asked his utter confusion. To live in a house this big Lior must be from a very very rich family. He was trying his best not to look to overwhelmed by the sheer size of her home but that wasn’t working out as well as he had hoped. He put his hand in his pockets but his eyes where still a big wider then they really should have been as he looked around at the outside of the house. He paused for a second when Lior opened the door for him. He relaxed a bit when he saw her smiling at him.
”You have a very wonderful and… Big… Home Lior.”
Akuma was in even more awe when he entered her home. He wasn’t expecting any of this he honestly thought Lior might have just had an apartment like most of the other students that when to the school but it seemed like this girl might be full of little surprises like this. Akuma looked down at the chinchilla he was still holding and then looked back up to Lior.
”So where does this little guy live?”
With a home this big Akuma was suspecting that this little fur ball might have his very own room and that room might be bigger than Akuma’s own apartment. Looking around he realized just how small his place was and there was honestly nothing wrong with that. Back in Japan most apartments where small and his worked for him and his cat but this place just seemed a little needlessly huge but he would try his best not to look like a fish out of water in this huge mansion of a house.

Lior quietly shut the door after Akuma was in. She folded her parasol up as it was no longer needed. All around them was dark work with gold inlay that covered the wall. A chandelier hung from the high ceiling, the light coming in from the higher windows sending glittering beams down to bounce off the floor. The albino giggled a bit at Akuma’s comment,
“Oh it’s alright, but it is a bit small. My family’ home in Chicago is at least four times as big.”
She wasn’t bragging n the slightest, she was only stating facts. The albino was completely unfazed and unaware just how rich her family really was. Money had always been a part of her life and was therefore nothing strange to her. Lior wandered in a ways and gently called out to Abigail and the maids,
“I’m home everyone! I’m sorry that took so long!”
Footsteps hurried towards the two and soon an older woman appeared. Her dark hair was pulled tightly back into a bun and had several streaks of grey through it. Her eyes landed on Lior first but she paused when she saw Akuma,
“Lior, where have you been all this ti-Oh gracious! And who is this?
The albino sidestepped to stand beside Akuma, giving a timid smile,
“This is Akuma. I got lost on my way home, and he was kind enough to help me find my way. Akuma, this is Abigail. She used to be my nanny when I was younger.”
Abigail shot Lior a look of high disapproval but bowed her head anyways,
“Welcome, young man. Do try behave yourself around our young miss.”
Lior propped her parasol up by the door. One of the other maids would take care of it. Bending slightly, she peered down at Malachi. The chinchilla knew he was home, evident by how he’d pressed himself against the front of the cage and was chittering loudly. Giggling a bit, she looked up at Akuma,
“Malachi lives upstairs in the game room. Oh, I almost forgot!”
Righting herself, the albino clapped her hands together and gave a rather unneeded pleading look to her old nanny,
“Abigail, would you bring us some tea please? We’ll be up in the game room.”
The old woman regarded Lior as though she’d suddenly turned purple, looking from Akuma to the albino and then back again. Letting out a sigh, she nodded and hurried off towards the kitchen, smoothing down her apron to calm her nerves. Lior didn’t pick up on how irked she was by Akuma’s presence. Turning, she tugged very lightly on Akuma’s sleeve,
“Come along, it’s this way.”
She led the blonde down a small hallway. The stairs were rather hidden at an awkward angle. Lior beckoned for him to follow her up. Bannisters made of winding metal looked more akin to vines. The stairs led upwards in a spiral, the continuous wall to their right being painted to look like it belonged in the pages of a story book. Lior paid it no mind, she saw it every day. The top floor looked much the same as the ground floor. Dark wood paneling with weaving gold designs lined the halls and stained glass lighting fixtures bloomed above their heads. Every window was covered by a heavy red curtain, only very thin beams of light reaching in to them. Lior came to a stop four doors down and opened the way for Akuma, holding an arm out to beckon him into the room and smiling,
“This is where Malachi lives. He has a cage where he sleeps at night, but for the most part I let him roam around in here as long as he doesn’t get into anything.”
A large and rather overstuffed couch carved a semicircle out of the middle of the room set to face a 70-inch plasma wide screen television. In the corner was a violin set up on its stand next to another stand holding paper with several rows of musical notes scribbled upon it. A half-finished canvas sat propped up on an easel beside one of the windows. Lior waited for Akuma to set Malachi’s cage down before releasing the latch and letting him out. The furry creature hopped right into her arms, rubbing the top of his head under her chin and making a chirring noise. Lior giggling and stood, moving closer to Akuma,
“You can hold him if you like. You did carry him all the way here, I’m sure he’d like to thank you himself.”

Akuma was overwhelmed to say the least as he looked around Lior’s place. This place was massive and the décor looked expansive. He remembered when he was a younger boy that his family home was relatively big for a Japanese house, thanks to the money his Dad made in the gang, but it was still dwarfed by this place. The wooded work and in the gold inlay was just amazing and the chandelier was simple beautiful. Akuma could barely hear that it was that Lior was saying he was in such aw but his attention did turn back to her when he heard that this wasn’t nearly as big as her home back in Chicago. My god how much money did her family have?
His attention shifted again when an older woman made her way into view. He was quite for a few moments when Lior introduced him to her. He gave the older woman a polite bow. Some habits from Japan where hard to brake and he still greeted his elders with respect.
”I am pleased to meet you.”
As he straighten back up he couldn’t help but get a devilish grin on his facing hearing the woman tell him to behave himself. He could very well make a smart ass comment but he didn’t want to ruin any chances he had with Lior. When Lior spoke to him the grin changed back to a charming one as he nodded his head and fallowed the albino to the game room. So this little bur ball had his own room to himself? He bet that Uma would love that but she had to deal with sharing his small apartment with him.
Again Akuma had to hold back a shocked look as he walked into the game room. At this point he shouldn’t really be shocked by what he saw and he could only wonder where she got all the painting from. When Lior spoke again asking if Akuma would like to hold Malachi this time he didn’t an awful job of hiding his joy about this. His face lit up like a child opening his first gift on Christmas.
”Can I? Oh I would love that so much.”
He took the little fur ball into his arms and started cuddling him. Now this was a sight to see. Akuma as the over arcing appearance of a Yakuza gangster and generally someone you didn’t want to mess with. But here he was holding the chinchilla and cuddling the little guy looking far more happy then he should have.
”Oh I bet Uma would just love you~ Yes she would~”
All too late Akuma realized what he was doing and gave a glance over to Lior. Oh she probably thought he was crazy now. He calmed down and opted to just pet the little fur ball as he looked away from Lior with the ever so lightest blush on his face, from embarrassment that is.
”I umm… Really like cute things….”

The look on Akuma’s face had Lior smiling as well. He looked so happy at the prospect of holding Malachi. It was rather endearing and highly adorable, or at least Lior thought as much. Giggling at his enthusiasm, the albino gently handed the chinchilla over to Akuma. She watched him take the fur ball into his arms and cuddle instantly. Malachi had seemed to take a shine to the blonde. The chinchilla made the same chirring noise he had with Lior. Although he did squirm a bit, he settled down and wound up looking vaguely like he was standing.
Lior didn’t think she’d ever seen someone so happy to simply hold an animal. Granted she didn’t have much room to talk. Meeting Lavender’s cat Al had sent her completely over the moon with joy, but then the albino couldn’t know what the giddy grin she’d gotten upon her face at the time had looked like. She was a bit puzzled at the mention of an Uma, but she assumed it was Akuma’s own pet he was referring to, possibly a younger sibling as well. Regardless, seeing Akuma so overjoyed simply by holding little Malachi made Lior’s heart swell with a happiness she couldn’t quite identify. It brought a grin to her lips.
Malachi in turned seemed very appreciative of the attention. The chinchilla chirred and weaseled his way up to place his front paws upon Akuma’s shoulder so he could rub a plush cheek against Akuma’s face. He was an affectionate creature but only because Lior had socialized him so well. The young man seemed to become embarrassed quite suddenly, a light blush appearing. Lior tilted her head at his words. Ah, so that was it. Giggling again, she moved closer and gently scratched Malachi behind the ears,
“It’s nothing to be bashful for. That simply means you have a good heart and a kind soul. I have to ask, though, who or what is Uma?”
Lior meant it; after all she already thought such things of Akuma. There was a brief knock at the door before it opened and Abigail walked in. She cast a disapproved glance in Akuma’s general direction before silently setting down a tea tray complete with two ornate tea cups, a matching tea pot, a sugar bowl, a small pitcher for cream, and a small plate of shortbread cookies. Lior gave her a timid smile,
“Ah, thank you Abigail!”
The older woman waved a hand,
“Don’t mention it, feygele. If you need anything else just shout.”
Abigail disappeared out of the room as quickly as she’d arrived, shutting the door behind her. Lior wandered to the small coffee table where the tray was and poured tea for both her and Akuma, beckoning him over with a hand and a smile.

As Akuma scratched the chinchilla behind the head he felt Lior move closer to him. It was so that she was able to pet her own pet but Akuma’s eyes moved away from the little fuzz ball in his lap and over to Lior. At her words he gave her a very kind smile. She had really been the first to ever say that to him but then again he made sure back home no one knew he had a kinder side to him. But it was time him to make a fresh start in this new city where no one knew him or what he had done and this girl sitting next to him gave him hope that he might be able to do that. At her question about Uma Akuma gave a little laugh but he still didn’t take his eyes off of her as her petted the chinchilla again.
”Uma is my cat. She is a turkish angora and a very old cat and likes to remind me that she is an old lady. Whenever I come home late she always has to meow at me for a few minutes to remind me that I woke her up or if I sleep in to late she has to let me know that I need to wake up. I swear she is like my grandmother but in a cats body with the way she acts towards me. But she is a very lovely cat none the less and loves the company of people.”
Akuma looked away from Lior now thinking about his cat and how she was the favorite of the old woman’s. That cat café was the closest thing he had to a home after his family was murdered and Uma was the only thing he had left to remember it by. She was an old cat but know Akuma’s luck she would live far longer than she should.
At the sounds of the knock Akuma jumped a bit him mind being brought back to the time he was now and the place. The other woman entered the room with the tea and at her glare Akuma couldn’t help but give her a way to sweet smile. He couldn’t help himself a life time of being a smart ass was something he couldn’t give up just yet.
When Lior beckoned Akuma to going her he did so placing the chinchilla on the floor. He sat right next to her and took the tea that she offered him. Returning her smile he took a few sips from it. Today had turned into such a lovely day for him. He knew the next time he would see Lior again after this would be for the date he asked her out on. Oh if her nanny only knew that he had done that. The thought caused the boy to laugh a little but he pushed that out of his head for now. Now was the time to enjoy himself with Lior before he had to leave. But he would see her again soon and that thought only caused him to smile more.
