First days of school were always interesting but Avery hadn’t expected the odd school of Shibusen to be one of her better ones. The usual classes were there but so were the new and interesting. Learning more about meisters, Shibusen, and especially weapons made everything all the more intriguing. Her parents had taught her some of the things they covered but still there was so much more she could know. With so much going on classes seemed to pass in no time and Avery was left with a decision to make. She could go to the library and try to learn some more or work on the other aspect of being a Shibusen student. After some deliberation she decided on the later and headed for the gym. A quick change of clothes and she was ready to get some training in. Opting to stick with a red variation of the usual Shibusen gym outfit she walked out to the track area to see a few people had the same idea. Now what would be best to work on? Considering she only had herself to rely on the easy answer was everything. That might take a bit too much time though so it might be best to start with her strengths. After some stretching Avery hit the track as it seemed the most useful. Her legs were her best advantage and working on her stamina was always a positive. Focusing on her legs specifically Avery noted how her feet landed against the track and the speed she naturally fell into. Nothing seemed like a problem thought her speed could be a bit better but for now it was a solid speed to naturally fall into. If she needed to on a mission Avery was confident she could go fast enough to catch up with a kishin egg or escape a danger. Taking a few laps around the track she jogged off to the side to take a break. Catching her breath and grabbing a drink of water Avery contemplated what would be the next best thing to do. If she was going to take missions she needed to be as ready as she could possibly be but that left a wide range of possibilities to be prepared for. Sticking to what she was familiar with still seemed like the best thing to do considering she was just getting started. Walking out into the open area between the track there didn’t seem to be anybody practicing with the high jump which was perfect! Getting ready she lined up and ran at the bar, building up speed and preparing for the jump. Not unused to the training she left the ground in one fluid motion and twisted her body in the air to avoid knocking the bar off. Gravity took her once she had cleared it and her body landed on the mat waiting on the other side with a thump. Staying on her back Avery laid there for a moment and just looked up at the sky, nobody else was waiting so why not enjoy a break? Exhaling she spread out her arms and just remained on the mat looking up. Training could resume in a few minutes after her break.

Spike’s first day attending classes at Shibusen had left his expectations in the dust. He could hardly pay attention during orientation. He was distracted by the great diversity in the student body and the grand and stylized architecture of the building. The lecture subjects and teaching techniques were widely different than what he was used to back home. Once done with classes for the day he decided to check out one of the school facilities before heading back to the boys dorms. The track seemed like a good place to start. Besides, he hadn’t really exercised since he got off the plane a week ago. After changing out of his school clothes into a plain white t-shirt and black track shorts with the Shibusen logo on one leg, Spike laced up his white sneakers and headed out onto the track. He looked back at the school building. He stretched his arms upward like its high towers, black and white seeming to reach to the heavens kind of like the skyscrapers back in Denver. “The candles.” He said to himself, smiling. “Ha! They look so over the top. Since this is the first workout as a Shibusen student I should do something bold and over the top. Just like those candles.” He looked over the field as he was planning his workout and a girl running towards the high bar caught his eye. She jumped over the bar cleanly and landed with a thud. Spike thought he recognized her from one of his classes and decided it was time to be friendly. He ran up to the mat and found her gazing dreamily up at the clouds. Upon closer inspection he was certain that he saw the girl earlier today. “Hey. Sorry to bother you since you look so relaxed. But aren’t you in one of my classes?” Spike inquired while stretching out his shoulders, “See it’s my first day at the academy and I don’t really know anyone here so I was wondering if you wouldn’t mind becoming acquainted.” He reached his hand out for a handshake and continued “My name’s Spike! And I’m a weapon.”

Watching the clouds pass overhead was always a relaxing thing to do and it was always the same regardless of where in the world you were. Avery couldn’t remember the last time she had just laid back and watched the clouds pass. She had been so caught up in getting ready for Shibusen that little things like that had gone unnoticed in favor of training. A smile spreading across her face from the thoughts it was amusing to her that little things like that had gone unnoticed. At least now that she was at the school there was a chance to get back to what she had pushed back.
Her reminiscing was interrupted when somebody came up to the mat she was on and started talking to her. It was for the best really, she had been taking too long of a break anyway. He said something about being in one of her classes but being new it was hard to remember exactly who she had seen before. It was his first day as well so it was likely they would share a class for new students. If he said a little more it would probably come back to her so she let him continue.
When he reached for a hand shake she responded by not moving from her lying position but reaching up to return the shake. Hearing his name didn’t help her recall him any but the note that he was a weapon did jot her memory. Yes, that was it! He did look somewhat familiar from one of the weapon classes she had been in. With that taken care of it would be best if she returned the greeting properly. Arching her back she lifted off the mat and moved into a sitting position before addressing Spike.
”That’s right I do think we have a class together. It’s my first day as well so I didn’t remember right away.”
Pausing for a moment she stretched her arms toward her feet before bending her legs and standing up. It would be rude to continue the conversation sitting down plus she still had to get a workout in. Now standing she faced Spike and smiled. Meeting a weapon that wasn’t her mother or one of the people that worked with her parents was a new experience for her. Of course he had only said that he was a weapon and not what kind so her curiosity was peaked.
”I’m Avery, also a weapon. What kind of weapon are you?”
Curiosity obvious she waited for an answer to the simple question instead of asking any more. Asking more about a weapon before she even knew what the weapon was would get her nowhere so she bid her time until she knew that much.

This school was such a great place to be. Niina never got over how many different people there were, how large the place was, or how talented everyone seemed to be. Classes were always an eye opening experience. Even though, to a certain extent, she knew a lot of the information, the more specific they got about weapons and meisters the more she learned. Niina knew a good bit about witches already, but only new a bit about meisters and weapons from what she had seen and learned in her travels. That was… pretty slim. A few people had talked to her about it, the Italian Nina being one of those people, but that was generally more expression about their own experience. Not actual information. Interesting. Always interesting. Even if it did get a bit taxing on her mind. After class today she planned to go to the track though! A pool visit would be soon to follow of course. Packing up to head for the track was quick, she grabbed her bag with extra clothes and changed. Her hair was already tied back in preparation of the track visit, a braid along the sides of her head in order to keep her layers from attacking her face when she ran. Outfit was decently simple compared to her other outfits, though still held color. It was difficult to run around efficiently when you piled on layers! A bright grin on her face, it didn’t take long for the little witch to get to the track area. Stretching her muscles as a quick warm up, first her legs, then her arms, and then a few twists to get the midsection. Deciding that was quite enough, Niina started off onto the track. Today was just a ‘run’ for fun. For her, this meant less of a pace setting and more of doing what she felt like. First was a sprint. Only lasting length side of the track, then she slowed a bit into a skip. Skipping along the track. Laughing quietly at the change, she felt good. Not as at home as in the water, but it was good to move her legs. From side gallops to skipping to a slow jog, Niina remained in her own little world of movement. That didn’t mean her world didn’t include other people though! A few others littered the track. People here and there, some running, some throwing, some jumping. With a huge school and such a nice day, it would have been a wonder if no one had been around! One girl had caught her eye. Running pretty quickly, this dark-haired girl had passed Niina many times in her slower endeavors, and a time or two Niina had come up beside her in sprints. She was adorable! Taller than her, but still adorable. And fast was lovely too. Niina still remained on the track and moving about when the other girl had left, briefly the witch thought she saw the girl head to the high jump. A smile ever on her face, Niina kept right along with her own antics. Well, that is until she saw someone else. A boy. Somewhat older looking than a majority of the students here. Why was he running towards the high jump? Trying to jog her memory as she slowed down her physical pace, Niina couldn’t recall seeing the girl leave the mat at all. Concern washing over Niina’s face, she took off in a sprint towards the high jump. The boy had already been there way ahead of her, but maybe he could use some assistance! As she got closer, she saw the girl in question sitting up. Slowing down, first she was confused, and then realization hit. She probably just stopped for a second! How silly of her. A grin on her face again as she approached the two at an energetic walk, she gave a slight wave of her hand. Might as well explain why she was tearing across the field towards them. “Sorry if I’m interrupting something. I was worried someone might be hurt. It wasn’t until I got closer that I realized I was being too worrisome.” A welcome grin on her face and a light tilt of the head, the girl meant no harm and would leave if so asked. Everyone was okay after all! But then a thought struck her. The instant light in her eyes shifted her gaze to focus directly on Avery. “Oh! Before I forget! You’re quite the runner, Miss. Sometime we should race or play tag or something.” The grin still remained all throughout her talking, even if she tended to be somewhat out of breath still from chasing ghosts over to them. The thought of playing games and meeting people and making friends was just too happy!

The fact that the girl did not get up for a handshake struck Spike as being rather endearing. The boy couldn’t help but chuckle as they briefly shook hands in greeting.
Spike was glad that she remembered him. He wouldn’t have blamed her for not remembering him from class since it was the first day and most people usually focused on finding their classes and settling in.
After the girl stood up she introduced herrself. ‘Avery is a nice name.’ Spike thought. When she told him that she was a weapon he remembered that it was the weapons class that he recognized her from. Not knowing which class had been bugging him ever since he recognized her. A silly grin crossed Spike’s face when he realized that this was the first time he had met a weapon one on one. He was surer than ever that coming to Shibusen was the correct decision.
When she asked what weapon he was Spike responded, “Oh! I’m a demon minigun. What about you?” As he waited for a response a blonde girl ran up to the two of them and waved looking slightly embarrassed. After apologizing for the interruption she explained that she thought something was wrong. Spike thought that it was logical that she came to that conclusion from how the situation looked. She seemed like a friendly and caring person. She mentioned playing tag like she was a small child wanting to play with neighborhood friends. It reminded Spike of his little sister when she was younger. This one’s mannerisms were endearing, too. Spike wondered to himself if everyone at Shibusen was like this.
After the girl complimented Avery, he decided to speak. “It’s no problem, really. The name’s Spike by the way. I'm a weapon and this is my first day here.” He was going to let Avery introduce herself thinking it would be rude if he were to do so since they just met.

After their initial greeting Avery couldn’t wait to find out more about this Spike person. Reading about weapons and hearing from her parents was one thing but meeting another demon weapon around her age would surely be more informative. Even with her prior knowledge she had really only gotten details about her mother and her weapon transformation. It only made sense that she would have similarities with her mom but Spike was completely new. Knowing he was a weapon was one thing but what kind he was really intrigued her. With so many options and varieties it was a mystery in itself and she needed to know the answer.
Hearing that he was a minigun certainly captured Avery’s interest. She had read about demon firearms and how they could condense wavelength into bullets, the entire process was completely fascinating! The idea of a minigun with just the sheer amount of ammunition and speed that it was fired filled her with more questions. Restraining herself from blurting them out she took a moment to reevaluate them. It was his first day as well so he most likely lacked a meister and wouldn’t know the answer to her questions, that just meant she would have to find out later.
Before she could respond to Spike someone else came running over to the mat and joined them. It was odd Avery hadn’t noticed the girl earlier from how colorful she was, especially compared to the majority of other students at the track. Greeting her with a smile Avery was curious about what brought her over until she started speaking. She must have thought her high jump had gone poorly and was the cause of some sort of injury, now that was upsetting. Bringing her hand up to rest on her face she addressed the new girl.
”Sorry that’s my fault; I got a bit too lost in thought.”
Judging by the grin the girl had she wasn’t too bothered by the misunderstanding. That was a relief at the least, Avery didn’t want to make any bad impressions on her first day at the school. After her initial comment Avery wasn’t sure what to expect when the girl shifted her focus to her. Hearing what she did say dispersed her worries and brought a grin to her face. Running her hand through her hair she returned the grin to the girl.
”Thanks! I’d love to do something like that sometime.”
Caught up in responding Avery didn’t think to introduce herself until after Spike had done so. How such an important thing had slipped her mind confused her but it was a minor detail overall. With the oversight known it only made sense that Avery correct it.
”I’m Avery, also a weapon.”
Giving the girl a smile she finished her greeting before having a thought and redirecting her attention to Spike.
”Demon pendulum by the way.”
With the sudden arrival of the girl she had almost forgotten to answer Spike’s question, a horrible fate to be met with. Her curiosity in Spike’s weapon form persisted but with him being new and there being a third person now she repressed the desire to ask. Spreading her arms out to the side she stretched and thought for a moment. Refocusing her attention to the girl Avery let her arms drop to her side before speaking.
”If you wanted to we could do something now. I came out here to get some exercise anyway so why not have more fun with it?”
It was only a suggestion but it would give her the workout she wanted and Spike could join in the fun as well. Plus this was Shibusen, even if they were new they were held to such a high standard of fitness a game was bound to be interesting!

Despite her entrance being the cause of concern, Niina had let this pass and transform into her normal giddiness. New people awaited her. New experiences ahead. And these two looked like a lovely pair! Though Niina couldn’t be described as the most observant girl when it came to social mannerisms, her first instinct was that all of them would get along swimmingly.
The male introduced himself as Spike. A name she couldn’t say she had heard before for a person. He looked friendly, as did the girl. Neither of them showing any obvious sign of wanting her to depart. Spike commented that he was a weapon. Like Fritz! Silently wondering what he might be, she decided to let that question slide for the moment, not realizing that she had narrowly missed hearing him state it earlier.
Avery’s explanation also caught her ears, bringing a bright grin from Niina in the process.
“No harm done at all! I’m sure there’s ton to think about here at this school. I find myself constantly amused and amazed!”
Light laughter lacing her words, the girl’s smile didn’t falter for a moment. If anything, Avery’s following words only made Niina seemed more excited. Clapping her hands together, she chuckled lightly, nodding her head up and down like she might burst. Growing up as a witch meant more twisted games than tag. But it seemed not everyone in the world thought they were too old to be a kid!
Avery. Ah. That was the name. With her excitement over games, she didn’t quite realize she hadn’t gotten the dark-haired girl’s name yet. So, Spike and Avery. Demon Weapons of the Academy! Her smile dimmed a bit, but mostly so she looked like she wouldn’t explode into flying confetti. Natural joyous smile, hands still clasped together in front of her chest.
Avery looked to Spike, possibly continuing the conversation they had been having. Niina found one of her answers! Though Spike’s form was lost on her, Avery was a Pendulum! Little by little, the excitement was coming back to Niina’s face. It was just too neat. But wait… wasn’t a pendulum a little weight that swayed back and forth? Sometimes she saw them in those picture shows with sciencey men, they sat on desks! Maybe Avery and Fritz would get along well. They weren’t really weapony weapons and were adorable.
Avery moved then, stretching her arms out to the side. Really, Niina didn’t notice the action all that much until the girl spoke. So she was preparing! Jumping up and down on her toes twice, the girl smiled gleefully and clapped her hands with each jump.
“That sounds great!”
Glee not gone, but definitely shifting, she let her hands part from one another. Right hand moving to her chin, her pointer finger laying just over her lips and tapping lightly against the flesh, the little blonde looked to be in thought.
After a few moments, her hand left her face and moved swiftly into the air. Her hand mostly balled into a fist except for her pointer finger pointing straight to the sky, the girl was grinning widely again.
“We’re going to play a weird game of freeze tag. Body part freeze tag. Basically, whoever is it tries to tag the others. If the IT person tags, say, an arm, the person tagged can not use that arm but can still run freely until their body is completely frozen they can’t move! You can also help eachother by ‘healing.’ Tag someone’s frozen body part with a body part of YOURS that isn’t frozen, and they are unfrozen there!”
Her words were somewhat rushed, the excitement obvious on her face and she looked like she may start hopping up and down again.
“Ready? Meister against Weapons. GO!”
Laughter immediately following her speech, she rushed forward. Since Avery was the one who really accepted doing the game with her, she made the girl the first target. The sprint forward was merely a few quick steps, the girl’s previously sky bound pointer finger reaching to poke Avery in the shoulder.
