Taika; Niina;Witch
Name: Niina Rivera (Taika)
Nickname: Doll-face
Age: 257 Years Old, Appears Late Teens
Gender:Female
Race: Witch
Class: One Star
A Magical Body
Picture:
Appearance:
A curvy female at average height. The Finnish girl maintains an hourglass feminine form, a good size chest and hips with a thin waist. Her short height only adds to the child-like innocence that is displayed on the girl’s consistently smiling face. Joyful and understanding expressions normal for the witch, her whole self could be described as approachable; smiling face, non-intimidating height, and girl-ish figure.
Typical of those of Finland, Niina sports both light hair and skin. An almost “fish-gut white” skin covering her body, surprising for a female who likes to spend time outside and in the water. Blonde hair atop her head, it can be found in any variety of styles from day to day. If let down, her hair falls to mid-back and the locks are found in choppy layers with bangs that layer into her hairstyle. Thin yet expressive eyebrows rest above bright and large green eyes that largely distract from her tiny nose and ears. The flesh of her lips blends almost completely with her natural skin tone, though it is not abnormal for the girl to apply make-up and lipstick to change the colors of any variety of her own self.
A delicate looking neck connects to narrow and almost boney shoulders. Her arms are slender, complete with thin wrists, small hands and skinny fingers. Below the narrow shoulders Niina does have a modest chest for a young woman, her waist taking a turn inwards for her flattened stomach. Keeping in mind that the girl does not seem particularly muscular nor lanky, falling somewhere between to give her smooth body features. Her hips curve outward, her tight ass only complimenting the feminine form. Legs just barely seemed toned, holding a healthy shape to them. Her ankles and feet are small as well, with her toes consistently painted some color of the rainbow.
Niina’s wardrobe contains every color under the sun and every variety of clothing possible. Skirts, shorts, capris, dresses, skirts, jackets, scarves…. if it exists, she probably has it. She holds no particular need for any certain outfit, color, or accessory. A default outfit is ridiculous!
Height: 5’ 4”
Weight: 130 lbs
Fighting Style:
Niina’s fighting style could be split into two separate ideas, but her defensive positioning normally takes precedence. Her first thought in a fight is to avoid, because… well… being hit hurts. Her speed and agility make it easier for her to avoid hits, her stamina does her a great service at being able to keep up with this for a long time. The girl tends to move as if she were swimming. She moves fluidly, her one action moving into the next, affecting her pattern to follow. Like swimming in air. This being said, she tends to play with momentum. Using it to her advantage, manipulating it to move where she wishes.
Her offensive style is very basic. Smash smash. That’s all she really has. Even then, it may take her a while to get to that sort of thought process. Niina is typically a child who is against fighting, against violence. She doesn’t like to admit that it is a necessary evil. But, she still realizes it is needed. Once convinced that a more offensive stance is needed, she adopts a sort of drive. It’s a very neanderthal type fighting style. Think, Hulk Smash. When she gets an opening, she will aim for one of the obvious or painful spots. Head, throat, foot… Just a smash.
Whether defensive or offensive, Niina does not know much about combat or about placing together a big picture. She’s very reactive, in a sense, using her speed to react to what action was presented to her. In a split second she may notice an opening and try to smack the opponent, but she has no real way of creating a plan to get herself an opening. It just kinda… happens. Maybe.
Personality:
The young witch has always been a friendly sort of girl. She enjoys talking to people, meeting people, holding a conversation, beginning a conversation, playing games, getting people to smile… The list goes on and on. If an activity includes people, the social girl wants to be involved. Getting to know individuals is stimulating and amusing for her. She tends to be easy to get along with, trying not to push people to their limits but also trying to get to know them.
She finds it very easy to smile and enjoy time with people. Niina is very confident in herself and is not easily put down by others. The girl doesn’t come across as arrogant, or doesn’t try to, just comfortable with who she is. While she doesn’t come from a background that she is super happy with, she tries to make the most out of what she has. Who she is has good, and she believes she has chosen it. Her confidence in herself makes it easy for her to just go with the flow. Moving from one situation to the next, ready to try anything new that someone brings to her. If it makes them happy, she might as well try it, right? Her flow is not complete with emotions, however. While she is not overly bursting with emotions, Niina is easy to read. A very expressive girl who wears her emotions on her sleeves. While joy is one of her main likes, as almost anyone should want, she obviously knows how to feel all others. Words can hurt, situations can anger her. But, it is not abnormal for her to ‘swim’ from one emotion to the next as each event takes place.
There happens to be a still child-like innocence to the little witch. While her actions are joyful, she attempts to not come off as childish, more friendly. The innocence more plays in with ‘adult’ topics. Even more specifically, she doesn’t always understand social concepts. Male/female attraction, what causes it, why it happens, etc. She also doesn’t always understand why things would be embarrassing. Much as a young child doesn’t get really embarrassed, she usually just laughs things off as a joke. Once again, comfortable in her skin. The other thing that could be considered childish is her stubbornness. Combined with her confidence, she is unwavering in ideas that she chooses. Such as her silver-lining ideal. No one will ever take that from her. Once her mind is set, it is darn near impossible to alter it.
While she may not be the most observant or socially intelligent, it is obvious that she truly cares for people. Her heart goes out to anyone and everyone, even if they are not too fond of her. Niina is aware that not everyone enjoys life the same way, that not everyone agrees that what she finds fun is fun to them. However, she is convinced that there is good in everyone. Her silver-lining mindset. The witch believes that everyone has good in them, everyone has the potential to be good. Yet, some people do not choose this goodness. Some are beyond help. But… they weren’t always. That’s why she wants to get to know people. She cares for everyone, and if she could stop the chain of destruction for those swaying towards a less good side, she wants to be that turning point. She wants to try and give someone a reason to not hurt, to not cause pain, to not… destroy.
That’s typically when Niina’s chaotic nature kicks in. Once she has convinced herself that someone is beyond saving, that they can’t turn back and have no intention too, all she wants is to destroy them. They’ll only hurt others, only create a situation for other people to strive for the darkness in their hearts and turn away from the good. They have to be attacked. They have to be killed. And a brutal beating is not above the crazed witch’s style.
Sway the Soul
Spells: All spells with a chant can only be used without soul protect.
“Dolphin, Doll, Dolphin, Speed” - After the chant, the target of Niina’s spell is gifted with a boost in speed. The speed boost lasts for five posts, granting the target near double the ability above their normal movement.
“Dolphin, Doll, Dolphin, Life” - Following the chant, the target of Nina’s spell is given a more “go with the flow” mindset. This is an intellectual bestowal, the target becomes more able to adapt mentally to a situation. Instead of becoming hard or freaking out at some event presented to them, the mind flows on past the obstruction, moving to the next event with little to no negative mental energy. This spell lasts four posts.
“Dolphin, Doll, Dolphin, Hide” - Once the chant is spoken, the target takes on the ‘hide’ of a dolphin. This hide gives a two-fold sort of physical effect. The spell gives the target the ability to endure stronger hits without causing any real damage to the body. However, seeing as dolphins are also have high sensitivity to touch, they become slightly more susceptible to feeling pain. These effects last for five posts.
“Dolphin, Doll, Dolphin, Sink” - After the chant is finished, Niina’s target is given a more dense structure. This provides the target with a sturdier being as well as more weight, nearing double their normal density. The weight is useful for more solid attacks or possibly taking blows, but the heavier weight can make movement slower, throw the target off balance, and/or provide a nasty fall if on unsecured flooring. Effects of the spell last five posts.
“Dolphin, Doll, Dolphin, Fight” - The spell is cast once the incantation finishes, this one grants the target increased strength. Lasting for five posts, it builds double off of the target’s base ability.
Flight - Niina has the ability to fly. This does not require a incantation or for her to remove soul protect.
Soul Protect - The ability to mask her witch soul from others. The appearance of her soul when under this spell is shown as a human soul.
Familiar Form - This spell does not require an incantation but does remove soul protect. Niina can take the form of a White-Beaked Dolphin, nothing particularly makes her stand out from any other dolphin of the species.

History: Finland has long been home to the Taika family, even when it was part of Sweden. With the name ‘Taika’ meaning magic or spell, the name was given by peasants in the area to those of.. magical ability. While no one really knew it the Taika witches were actual blood relation, myth, rumor, or random wandering haggards, this term was used for centuries. For one witch, this name was adopted as her own, and she carried it on to her children.
The Taika’s did become a bloodline of witches, even if it was not known to the general public. This one witch bore a child named Aino. Even after the mother’s death, Aino remained in Finland, embracing the many lakes and islands as her home. It was easy to hide, but also blend in. With countless islands to make her home, abandoned houses (or soon to be once the owner was dealt with), and sparse population, she had little issue. Aino continued to carry on her mother’s legacy. The Finland Taika’s would live on through blood.
Aino had five children in all. Each separated by many years and proving to carry the blood of the Taika witches. The eldest was Ensia, the next was Heli, third being Ilta, Niina was the fourth, and the last was Mika. Of the five children, Niina only ever really came to know two of them. Aino’s methodology typically had to do with seducing a man, ridding herself of him once she knew he had been made of good use, having her child, raising her for some years, then “encouraging” them to find their own place in Finland. While it was never a rule that the Taika’s remain in Finland, it was strongly encouraged for it to be their main resting place as well as to remain in some sort of contact with their mother. .
Ensia, the oldest, tried to take the world by storm. Her destructive nature was very strong, and she was young and wreckless. She was tracked down at about three hundred years old by the students of Shibusen, having never met Niina.
Heli, the second child, also roamed the earth, but strayed from Finland at the loss of her sister. Her destructive nature was more… subtle. Staying below the radar of Shibusen, for the most part. Keeping in contact with her mother and causing havoc in small doses. With her absent from Finland and not caring enough to keep in contact with anyone but their mother, Niina never met Heli either.
The youngest, Mika, was mostly unknown to Niina. Born after her, the girl’s travels kept her unaware of her sister except through letters. She only met her once, briefly, when seeing Sebastian.
Ilta and Niina were born not even one hundred years from one another. One couldn’t say the sisters were… close, at least not by normal standards. But when held in comparison to her other siblings, Niina held a bit more loyalty to Ilta. Well… Niina did, until she was about fifty years old. For some reason or another, Niina became the target of her mother’s and Ilta’s destruction for the day. One wielding powers of darkness, the other or illusion, Niina found herself in a living nightmare. The girl could never express the horror that she felt that day. The fear, solitude, pain… From that day forward, Niina was terrified of the dark. And of her family.
She spent less time at home, wandered out into the small towns away from the vast lakes. She went to the ocean, something that always called to her. Niina had known from a young age that she was meant to be one of the Taika witches. She had powers, a familiar… Niina even knew what her powers were. She could give things. Her first experience with her basic powers was flying. Niina had wanted to see the world at a young age, so using flight allowed her to get to the towns faster. Her bestowal gifts were discovered in town. A fight had broken out. A bully, two henchmen, and a skinny lad protecting a dog. The events happened in a blur. One moment, the skinny boy was about to get beaten. The next, words had poured from her mouth and the skinny kid was handing the bully’s asses to them.
It was… strange. It wasn’t like she implanted terror, or made bad things happen. Unlike her destructive family, she seemed more… together. Before Ilta even decided to leave Aino, Niina was off into the world. It had long been discovered that she was most comfortable in the water. Her natural love of water being largely due to her familiar being a dolphin native to the area. Because of this, she often remained close to the water in her travels, often using her animal form to get from one place to another. Yet, she always stayed in contact with her mother.
Her travels taught her many things. There were many good people in the world, but there were also many bad. Getting to know people, making friends, getting to understand different cultures, seeing how people worked together… It was an amazing time, but it opened her eyes to how people’s hearts tended to work. At least, in her own eyes. She developed her sense of good and bad, how everyone has both sides in them, but they choose who to be. So… who would she choose to be? The Taika, destructive witches, were obviously bad… right? Causing pain and destruction. But did she want that? It seemed she would soon find out.
A friend of Aino’s long lost past had contacted her. This friend was having some fun with a son of hers. Sebastian. A male child born to a witch and human. The boy had been left with his mother, something that never seemed to end well when it came to witches. Niina’s side was firmly decided here. She loved people. She had loved learning about people. She had loved being with people. Deciding to hurt them, on purpose, was an awful thing to do. Niina wanted to turn to that of good, or what she considered good. Painless, helpful, caring… She wanted to be this. She wanted to help this Sebastian.
The boy’s mother had moved him to Europe. Niina was not aware of all her mother and this woman wanted to do to the boy, but she couldn’t imagine it was good. She had seen what family could do to their relations. So, she spent time with him. Niina wanted to get to know him, to befriend him and understand his heart like she had with her friends in other countries. The time came and went. She would drop in for days at a time, then go to other parts of the planet, but always return for her new friend.
One thing.. changed this. Some odd happening where Sebastian’s mother placed him in obvious danger. Niina returned, only to hear her mother and the other witch talking in a somewhat more excited tone than normal. They were going to.. further experiments? While she wasn’t sure what that meant, the more she heard, the more she understood. Her mother and this witch were definitely following darkness in their hearts. They enjoyed it. But this Sebastian… she knew him. She needed to help him not become this… this blackness. And through some convincing, the two fled to America. Niina cutting ties with her mother.
Some time passed there. Niina wanted to show him people. The boy was a little… odd. Not altogether dark or evil, but just odd. He expressed things oddly, or not at all. He was hard to read, difficult to understand, but not an overall bad person. She hoped to integrate him with normal people, with people who wouldn’t hate and abuse him. This seemed to help, somewhat. While he seemed less odd on the outside, Niina could tell that it was an act. He didn’t think he fit in, he didn’t really accept these people. He merely was trying to fill her mold.
Well… that was a start, right?
So one further push. Something else she had learned. One, her sister had been killed by shibusen students. That meant…. they were good, right? While making friends and seeing the world, she had come across both fans of the school and actual students. They were like holy knights! Fighting the chaos and bringing goodness to the world. Maybe if she could get Sebastian there… Maybe then he could be helped. But… she’d have to go with him. She couldn’t leave him alone, he wouldn’t survive without her. Not yet.
Niina took care of the applications, of contacting the school. They needed some abilities and reasoning for attending. Sebastian had told her of his abilities that his mother was so interested in. But… what could she give? They weren’t exactly witch friendly. That took a bit more time and effort. While she didn’t really like the idea of lying to such an organization, she eventually found what she would go with. One of her friends from Italy, a girl that she knew and loved. Oddly, they had become good friends once they had found they had similar names. Nina Rivera and Niina Taika. One letter off for their first name, best friends at first name! At hearing some of Niina’s worries about attending Shibusen, Nina gave her the perfect scapegoat. Nina Rivera was the grandchild of a meister. While she had no abilities of her own, Nina encouraged the Taika to use her name. That was they would be like twins!
So, Niina did just that. Niina Rivera. Who could resist such a water-ific name? Child of a meister, possessor of soul perception. Her and Sebastian went through another short waiting period, but then found themselves accepted into the school. They were students of Shibusen. Knights of Light. She… could help people find their way. One step at a time.

RP Sample:Days like today were the best. And the young witch knew they were soon drawing to a close. Sebastian was back at their temporary home. A summer house for one of her eastern american friends. This was California. These were the beaches. Just as the sun went down, it didn’t seem too hot or too cold. Everything just seemed to be right. Her back against the warm sand, her left leg stretched out and her right knee bent slightly, arms folded behind her head. Black, short swimshorts and a white bikini top, the girl was soaking in the sun. Her eyes were protected by large sunglasses, yet she still kept her eyes closed. She had seen the sun set time after time. It never ceased to amaze her, but she didn’t want to see it today. One day closer until everything would change. She would be Niina Rivera.
Taking a deep breath in, she tried to rid herself of the butterflies. It was exciting and nerve-wracking! It was going to be so much fun and such hard work. This opportunity was amazing and she could barely believe it. She would be a Shibusen student. SHIBUSEN. The very school that had hunted down her sister. She held no grudge. That was the cost for choosing darkness, for loving darkness. Her sister couldn’t be saved, she could only hurt others. Niina needed to help, she wanted to guide people towards good. And sometimes that meant getting rid of those who would only guide towards bad.
A faint grin on her lips, the blonde sat up. Layered locks tied back in a low ponytail, it kept a good bit of hair from her face. Palms back against the sand, holding her body up in a sitting position, both her knees were bent now and she wiggled her toes comfortably in the sand. It was almost dark… That hadn’t hit her. The smile vanished from her face as the girl scrambled to her feet.
”Dolphin, doll, Dolphin, Speed”
Her words were barely above a whisper, but the girl took off like a bolt. Racing for home, she had forgot her sandals…. again. Another pair that would be washed away by the tide of the night. But none of that mattered now! She had to get home before the black of night swallowed up the day. Left unending shadows and lack of light. Shivering at the thought, Niina rounded the next corner to her home.
Bursting through the door, she rushed a yelped ‘hello’ to Sebastian and made her way quickly to her room. Shutting the door, flying onto the bed, and holding her pillow against her body, the semi-worried look was soon replaced with a quiet laugh.
”I beat it again!”
While it hadn’t been intended as a game, she had indeed beat the darkness in a race to get back to her room. A room that… would not be dark. Dolphin night lights. A brightly lit fishtank with her lovely fish inside. Yes. This room would not haunt her in the darkness that surrounded.
