Maura was positively livid. Twisting a strand of her dark hair around in her fingers, she tapped her foot impatiently as she waited outside. The heat definitely wasn't helping her mood. She was the superintendent of the dorm, the one that all the girls looked to whenever there was a problem or if they needed support and now she had done next to nothing to give them that support they so desperately needed. At first she had thought that the boys from the next dorm over had been on panty raids, but their superintendent swore up and down that no such thing had taken place otherwise he would have stopped them or been included. While she still felt like hitting him over the head with a lawnmower for acting so nonchalant over thievery of undergarments, there really wasn’t much Maura could do.
The second the girls had started coming to her claiming that their panties were missing, she had of course inspected the dorms. In each case, the current inhabitants of the room had been absent. It seemed whoever was stealing panties was cutting through the screen over the windows to break in. For the time being, all those living in the afflicted dorms had been told to keep their windows shut and locked. Cranking up the air conditioning would hopefully be enough to combat the Nevada heat for now. Maura would have liked to let all the girls just room with her if it made them feel safer but that just wasn’t possible. She thought of them all like little sisters, and right now she felt like the worst big sister ever not being able to help them in any way. All she could do was tell them to sit tight and make sure that everything was locked up more secure than Area 51 before they went to class or anywhere else. It was all she could think to tell them that may possibly help, other than of course telling the teenagers that the culprit would be caught and brought to justice.
Leaning against the wall next to the entry to the dorms, she looked up and down the street. Since she was no detective and this was technically a campus matter, she had called in the NOT students but she didn’t spot anyone yet. Maura wasn’t sure if the NOT class would actually be able to do anything, but it was certainly worth a shot. She certainly hoped that they could track down the culprits better than she could. Two of the girls had been kind enough to volunteer their room for inspection if the NOT students wanted to see one of the crime scenes first hands. Maura didn’t really see how that would help, she’d gone over all the rooms that had been burglarized with a fine-toothed comb and found nothing. Sighing, she pushed her sunglasses further up on her nose and took to staring at her shoes. Hopefully the NOT students would help. If not, she’d windup having to call the police.

Technically it was a mission so Rhett felt like he should be more excited then he actually was. Sure this would help him and Lior become a better team and all but it was still pretty bland. This was more like running errands than completing missions as far as he could tell. Though he couldn’t really complain too much about their predicament considering how they weren’t even really on slime killing level. A few novice missions like this wouldn’t hurt. Plus when you could get mission credit without even having to leave the area of the school things didn’t seem that bad.
Slowly Rhett was making his way to the girl’s dorm so they could get started on their mission. He wasn’t sure if Lior would be there or not but it didn’t really matter as long as they met up there. He only had to walk from the boy’s dorm but there was still enough distance between the two to make the trek difficult for him. The laughing sun glaring down at him wasn’t helping with matters either. So Rhett maintained his own pace as to not wear himself out before even reaching the dorm building that was his destination.
In response to the heat he had opted to not wear his uniform despite feeling somewhat obligated to considering it was his first mission, NOT class or otherwise. Instead Rhett decided on wearing a plain white t-shirt and jeans with a simple pair of black sneakers. He would be sure to dress more epically when they reached one star mission level and got to be awesome heroes. Rhett couldn’t wait until they reached one star but knew it would be a while before they were ready to fight corrupt creatures of madness. Especially considering that his weapon form was far from reliable in combat.
Oh well no use thinking too much about the possible future. First they had to complete this mission and the other necessary NOT missions and work from there. Following the path he could see the building that was the girl’s dorm drawing closer. Soon the foliage that surrounded the building offered him wonderful shade and his walk became much more enjoyable. Waling up to the school he spotted a figure leaning against one of the walls and deducted that they were the person he and Lior were supposed to meet with to learn about what was happening.
Putting on a slightly over exaggerated smile he approached her and looked around for his meister.

Her first mission! Lior wasn’t sure whether she was excited or anxious, but it was likely a mixture of both knowing her. On the one hand, she’d found a Weapon and they were on their way to becoming a good and proper team. On the other hand, she had no idea what she was doing but she hoped that things would become clearer once she actually reached her destination. Lior’s parents had asked her prior to the move if she would want to live in the dorms. She’d fainted at the very idea of having to be in close proximity with so many new people, so it was thought best that they find their daughter somewhere else to live while attending Shibusen. It wasn’t that the dorms weren’t nice, Lior was sure they were lovely. It was the people that put her off and made her wary. She was still trying to figure out how she’d been lucky enough to find a partner with her tendency to recoil from any sort of social interaction and cry at the drop of a hat over anything new that made her uneasy. Be that as it were, she would do her best. Imagining that she and Rhett would likely be wandering about, she’d opted for actual pants rather than her usual skirts. Unsure whether they would be outside or inside for the majority of their mission, she’d still lathered on an entire bottle of sunscreen before leaving the house and of course had a parasol held over her head for further protection from the sun. While the two were in the NOT class and they wouldn’t be chasing after any Kishin Eggs just yet, Lior wondered what exactly she and Rhett would be getting up to today. She knew that there had been a theft of some sort, but that was it. Of course she was sure there would be someone at the dorm to further inform them about the situation. As she drew nearer to the girl’s dormitory, she spied Rhett and quickened her walking pace. They may not have been chasing down anything too nasty, but at least they were doing something. The NOT missions would prepare them for tougher tasks and make sure that they had a handle on how they worked together as a team before tracking down Kishin Eggs. Managing a shy smile, Lior waved to Rhett and trotted the rest of the way over. Her Weapon was near a young woman leaning against the wall near the entry to the dorms. Lior’s smile was replaced with her general look of anxiousness as she hoped to avoid being stared at like the oddity she was but she tried to push her negative thoughts away and focus on the task at hand, “Good morning, Rhett.”Not wanting to be impolite, Lior then looked to the young woman standing near them and bowed her head a bit. However she found herself unable to speak. Her wariness of strangers got the better of her and she averted her eyes, looking squarely at her feet and furrowing her brows. Wonderful, she was already letting her insecurities get the better of her. Hopefully Rhett was better at talking to strangers then she was otherwise this would be more difficult than she had originally anticipated.

Maura wasn’t kept waiting too much longer which was good. She wasn’t past finding out which students were supposed to be helping and then tracking them down if need be. The first to show up was a boy which made her vaguely suspicious but she was the superintendent of the girl’s dorm. It was her job to be suspicion. A rather pale girl showed up soon after, though, and after seeing her greet him Maura lowered her guard a bit. They sure kept her waiting long enough. Pushing off the wall, she slid her sunglasses down the bridge of her nose a bit so she could see them better,
“You two must be the NOT students, yeah? ‘Morning.”
She gave them a wave and stepped nearer to them,
“I’m Maura Bailey, the superintendent for this dorm. You two want to talk about this inside or would you rather fry out here in the sun?”
While she pushed her sunglasses back up over her eyes, Maura did look pointedly at the white-haired girl as she said this. You certainly didn’t see someone like her everyday, but that wasn’t the issue. The issue was that if this chick was more worried about the sun than the panty thieves, then she wouldn’t be able to pay attention while Maura spoke, and she really didn’t want to have to repeat herself. She had been hoping that she’d be lucky enough to have a Weapon and Meister team consisting of two girls handling the case but she supposed it couldn’t be helped. As long as the dark haired boy didn’t make any of the girls uncomfortable she didn’t care.
Just looking at the two, Maura wasn’t entirely sure how they were supposed to find out who the thieves were any easier than she could have. She was no detective but these two weren’t exactly Sherlock and Watson from the looks of it. She wasn’t exactly keen on the idea of these two running around playing copper with several cases of missing panties, but she supposed it was better than calling the police and having them ransack the place for clues. It’d certainly be less stressful on the girls in her care, or at least she hoped so.

Not too long after his arrival he spotted the white figure that could be no one other than his meister. Rhett waited for her to get closer and join the small group that consisted of him and the random girl against the wall. At her greeting he grinned and gave one of his own. ”Morning Lior!” Now that she was here the mission could get started! He wasn’t sure exactly what they would be doing but he did know that both he and Lior would have to be present for the mission to commence.
Upon his partner’s arrival he spotted the woman move and focused his attention on her. Listening to her talk he kept his eyes focused in an attempt to pick up on any traits that may prove useful to them later on in the mission. Just to be sure he picked up everything he may potentially need to know, from hair length to breast size and committed it to memory. Of course that included her name and what position she held but that was just obligatory after all. When she had finished speaking Rhett had finished his analysis and was ready to get started on the mission!
From her question the answer seemed pretty obvious and not even worth asking. His partner was albino and needed to carry an umbrella and he was far from used to the heat of Nevada after arriving here not too long ago. ”I’m Rhett Minsky, inside works.” Besides, how were they supposed to complete the mission if they were outside? Inside seemed like the clear place to be if they were planning on getting anything done besides burning under the laughing sun above them. With any luck they would be able to figure everything out in no time and wouldn’t have too much trouble solving the problem.

Rhett certainly seemed cheerful enough, but Lior supposed it was probably due to the mission. She was a bit excited of course, but at the moment it any giddy feelings of actually being able to help people in need were being overshadowed by her stupid insecurities. The albino stood with her shoulders hunched as the young woman moved closer to them. She didn’t seem very friendly, but she didn’t seem particularly mean either just from the short amount of dialogue she gave them. Lior wondered if she was always so blunt or if it was the heat. Then again maybe the problem she and Rhett would be solving had something to do with the young woman’s state of mind. As the introductions started, Lior spoke softly after Rhett,
“I am Lior Menke. Speaking inside would be preferable.”
Lior had noticed Maura look right at her when she’d asked the two where they’d like to talk. Whether the superintendent thought her albinism was a hindrance or no was unclear, but then she could also have just been trying to act concerned. In any case, Lior would much rather be inside with air conditioning and out of the sunlight. She hoped they wouldn’t go inside the building and then windup having to run around outside later, that could prove to be troublesome. It wasn’t that she was unprepared or anything. She had sunscreen on as always as well as her trusty parasol, but Lior would still rather avoid all contact with sunlight and the Nevada heat for as long as humanly possible. She knew her aversion to the outside world was unhealthy but she just couldn’t shake her uneasiness. Hopefully such tings would leave her with time. She certainly hoped so.
Shifted her parasol so it was directly over her head, she wondered exactly what she and Rhett would be doing. If the superintendent of an entire dorm was involved she imagined it must be fairly serious, but she did keep hope alive that their task wouldn’t be too difficult. She and Rhett were a new team and this was their first mission, even if it was a NOT mission. This would help them hopefully figure out how exactly they would work together. They’d certainly need such teamwork skills if they ever hoped to take on anything legitimately dangerous in the future.

Maura nodded as the two introduced themselves. She figured the girl would want to go inside considering she was whiter than a sheet of paper. The superintendant waved for them to follow her and turned towards the door,
“Well then let’s get to it. Follow me.”
She held the door open for the two before wandering inside herself. It was only polite after all. No longer needing to protect her eyes from the burning Nevada sun, Maura pushed her sunglasses to rest atop her head. She again motioned for Lior and Rhett to follow her as she walked towards the main hall where most of the girls would be during this time of day. Now that they were actually inside they could get down to business. As they walked, she began to explain just what was expected of the NOT students,
“As humiliating as it is for a superintendant to admit, we’ve been having a problem with burglars getting into the dorms lately. Whenever any of the girls leave their rooms to go to class or anything, someone’s been breaking into their rooms through the windows.”
Yeah, that was about the gist of it, although she would certainly provide details if need be. Surely they would ask, but Maura wouldn’t want to weigh them down with unneeded information. Then again there was no way of knowing what they would consider important so she suspected she should just tell them everything. Shaking her head, Maura decided it would still be better to ease them into the investigation rather then overwhelm the two by drowning them in words. They were only NOT students after all. Pausing, she turned to face Rhett and Lior,
“A few of the girls have offered up their rooms for inspection if you’d like to see the scene of the crimes. You can also speak with them about anything they may have seen of heard although I’m not sure how much help they’ll be. Most of them returned long after the burglaries occurred and a few of them are terribly embarrassed which is only fair,”
Maura sighed and brought a hand to her face, an irritated look spreading over her features,
“We have a panty thief on our hands. You’ll be tracking them down and hopefully finding the stolen goods if at all possible.”
The superintendant was more humiliated that such crimes had happened under her watch than anything else. She herself hadn’t been victimized, but the window in her room also didn’t open due to being jammed. She’d been meaning to get them fixed but she had now decided to wait until the thieves were caught. It would certainly be safer. In terms of evidence, the two rooms that had been victimized most recently had been generally untouched. She had urged the girls staying in said rooms to try and not touch anything until the NOT students were through, but she only hoped that being questioned and their rooms inspected wouldn’t be too traumatic.

At the superintendent’s suggestion Rhett did as he was told. Walking through the doors and entering into the much more tolerable inside of the dorm. Not being at the mercy of the sun helped him deal with the heat as well as the light and subsequent UV rays that the sun gave off. He may not have been as susceptible to the sun as his albino partner but spending nearly all of his time in his darkened room didn’t do much for his skin. When they were inside he noticed Maura remove her sunglasses and he quickly recorded her eye color as well just in case it became important for anything in the future.
Following Maura as she instructed Rhett looked around the building to get a good idea of what they were dealing with as well as to look for any clues. With his memory the more he absorbed the better off they would be later if they got lost or had to look for some small detail. Plus it never hurt to have a mental map of what the girl’s dormitory looked like for future reference now did it? His attention was drawn away from mapping the building when he heard Maura begin to speak again.
Burglars? What exactly would prompt multiple burglars or multiple burglaries in the girl’s dorms to the point that they needed to call for assistance even if it was just the not class? Well if they were getting to investigate the crime scenes they might have a chance but what good would that do if someone was stealing things? Unless the culprit was still in the building they couldn’t really do much to solve the problem. Devising a plan Rhett wasn’t sure about Lior but he had an idea about what he thought they should do.
”Speaking with the victims may prove useful but I’d like to look at the crime scene for clues first.”
It would make more sense to look at the scenes before talking to the girls. If the girls weren’t around when the crime happened then they didn’t really sound like the most help in the situation. Hopefully the rooms were not disturbed so they could actually find a clue. Plus there was the fact that he got to look around girl’s rooms for a mission~ Even if it went against his first instincts he would have to try to catch the panty thief. It was a shame but the mission took priority over applauding the brave soul who was stealing panties from Shibusen dorms.

To be inside was a relief. Lior paused for a brief moment after entering the dorm to fold up her parasol before following along after Maura and Rhett. She would be able to think far more clearly without the worry of the laughing sun overhead trying to burn her skin. Of course it wasn’t the sun’s fault she was albino, but she still couldn’t help but antagonize it just a bit. A few bad sunburns too many had given her a possibly permanent dislike for being outside on sunny days, but she could think about that later. Safely inside, Lior let her eyes wander a bit. The girl’s dorms were very nice, but she still was glad to have her own private residence to call home in Death City.
Listening to Maura speak, she was sure to give the superintendant her undivided attention. The facts she told the two would hopefully help them in their mission. Lior couldn’t stop the look of concern from creeping onto her face at the mention of burglaries. She and Rhett were to chase down thieves? Gracious that sounded dangerous, at least to Lior. With her mind constantly thinking as though she lived in her own imaginary world of danger, Lior of course was thinking of hardened criminals breaking into the dorms rather than a couple of mischievous boys from the next dorm over playing pranks. She tried not to look quite so nervous, though.
Lior knew next to nothing about crime scenes. She felt as though she really should know more about such things given that her mother was one of the best criminal prosecutors in Illinois, but Mrs. Menke always made sure never to bring her work home with her. For a moment the albino girl wondered if she could perhaps call her mother for advice, but then decided it would likely be better if she didn’t. This mission was the first of many, she would have to learn how to find clues and handle such things on her own. She couldn’t be calling home for every little thing she didn’t understand. Still, the situation in general was rather upsetting. Panty thieves. Yes, Lior was suddenly very glad she didn’t live in the dorms.
Trusting her Weapon’s judgment, she nodded when he said they should look at the crime scenes first. It seemed like a perfectly logical option given that they would of course need to find clues in order to track down the thieves. They could always ask a few of the girls whether they had heard or seen anything afterwards. Maura had said that most of them were out while the burglaries had occurred, but perhaps they had noticed something before they left of after they returned that would be of use for her and Rhett to know. Lior was no detective but she would certainly try her best for the sake of the mission, and also for the sake of the poor girls who were victims of the terrible panty thieves.

Maybe these two were a bit better suited for the job than Maura had originally thought. Rhett at least seemed to have an idea of how to gather clues. The girl hadn’t said or done enough for the superintendent to really judge her, but hopefully both NOT students would be able to put an end to the whole fiasco. If the two wanted to look for clues, there were technically two rooms Maura could take them to. Since they were still on the ground floor, she opted to take them to the nearest one. The dark haired girl gave a curt nod to the young team,
“Right this way, then.”
Maura led the two around a corner and down another hallway. This one had doors lining the walls intermittently. In the back of her mind, the superintendent was really hoping that this was just a prank being pulled by the boys in the neighboring dorm. She didn’t care that their superintendent had said none of them were to blame; he could’ve easily been lying to her. She just wanted this whole thing to be over and done with so that the girls could feel safe in their rooms again.
Around another corner and three doors down, the superintendent stopped and knocked. While awaiting an answer, she turned to look at Rhett and Lior,
“These two found that they’d been burgled yesterday after they returned from classes. Nothing much should have been disturbed since then.”
The door opened to reveal a short, blonde girl. Upon seeing Maura, she immediately stepped aside,
“Miss Bailey! Good morning.”
Seeing Rhett and Lior, the student looked to the superintendent for explanation. Maura gave her a reassuring smile,
“Edith, this is Rhett and Lior. They’re NOT students; I called them in to help us find the thieves who keep breaking in. Is it alright with you and Lenore if they take a look around?”
Edith gave the NOT students a bright smile and nodded,
“Of course! Anything to help catch those awful perverts who’ve been breaking in! Honestly, who goes around stealing panties? Come on in!”
The blonde left the door open for the three before disappearing back into her dorm room. Maura followed them after shaking her head at the girl’s eagerness. She supposed the impending justice that would be brought down upon the culprits heads had her excited, in which case she couldn’t blame her.
Lenore and Edith’s dorm was all one would expect of your average dorm room. Lenore sat on one of two beds that sat pushed against the wall. With a Sherlock Holmes book in her lap, her green eyes regarded the NOT students with mild suspicion, although she was distracted by Edith who sat down beside her and began playing with Lenore’s long, red hair. Also in the room was a large dresser, clearly shared by the two girls with how the drawers were full to bursting and refused to shut properly. The top drawer in particular had been pulled out completely and its contents of girl’s panties rifled through with a few pairs having been tossed onto the floor. Edith glanced over at the two, still distracted with braiding her roommate’s hair,
“We tried not to touch anything since we got back yesterday and saw stuff had been taken. Lenore said not to because it would impede any oncoming investigations whatever that means.”
Lenore rolled her eyes,
“It means that if we would have gone moving things around we would have disturbed and contaminated evidence, that’s just common sense!”
Maura walked to the small expanse of wall that sat between two large windows, leaning against it and gazing at Rhett and Lior,
“Well, go nuts. I’ve been over the place once already, but you two still might find something I missed.”
While she doubted that would happen, Maura did hope the two could help. It would be embarrassing for two NOT students to find clues that she had missed previously, but if it got them closer to the goal of catching the thieves she could put her pride aside just this once.

Maura seemed to not have an issue with leading them to the scene so they could look for clues which was good. If she made things more difficult this mission would take much more time than it needed. He followed the superintendent as she led them to the scene of one of the crimes. So they crime had happened the other day? Well at least that meant that the scene should be fresh and clues should be easier to find. At the emergence of the student Rhett wasted no time making use of his memory to figure out details about the victim. One can never know when the smallest thing could be useful.
Rhett returned the smile the girl gave with his own. Of course right after Edith said harsh words regarding the situation. Could no one understand the bravery or this thief? Breaking into the dorm of the world’s superheroes and escaping unscathed was the work of a hero! It was alright unnamed pervert or perverts; Rhett recognized your greatness even if the others did not! Mildly depressed Rhett followed the others into the room that he was sure to look around. On one hand it was the crime scene they were supposed to be investigating and on the other it was a girl’s room.
Scanning the girls as well as the room Rhett was looking for anything that seemed to be out of place. It was hard to do without knowing what the room had looked like before the theft had occurred. Hearing Maura give them the green light Rhett mad his way over to examine the drawer. It was the logical thing to do sense the contents are what had been stolen plus he got to look at their panties. Gazing over the contents and the rest of the drawer Rhett wasn’t sure what could be a clue or not. He could dig through things himself but he didn’t want to be pegged as one of the perverts the girls seemed to hate so much, even if he was one.
Taking a moment to turn around he looked over the rest of the room from where he was. Getting low to look under the beds without moving from his spot. Standing again he still wasn’t sure what they were supposed to be looking for. Remembering that these missions had the purpose of strengthening a team he looked at his partner.
”So what do you think Lior? Anything look overly out of place for a normal girl’s room?”
He was lacking in experience in this area and didn’t want to make a mistake by using the girl’s rooms he had seen in anime and dating Sims be his reference. Lior should be more knowledgeable on this subject and they could figure this out in no time!

Lior was surprised there were students willing to let her and Rhett wander through and inspect their things. Sure, they were trying to catch a couple of thieves, but after going through such a traumatic event the albino girl truly applauded their resilience. Had it been her she’d likely be in hysterics and possibly on a plane home, but that was her anxiety talking. According to Maura the scene of the crime would be relatively untouched as well. Lior took that as a good sign, perhaps it would be easier for her and Rhett to find clues if nothing much had been disturbed since the burglars struck.
Out of habit, Lior stepped behind her partner when the petite blonde girl known as Edith answered the door. She was a tad bit taller than he was so she couldn’t exactly hide, but it was a behavior she’d adopted as a young child, usually hiding behind her mother’s legs or under her nanny’s skirt. Edith certainly seemed nice enough but Lior had been fooled by smiles and kind words before and therefore still stood back, only entering the doorway after Maura and Rhett had gone before her.
The previously mentioned Lenore seemed a bit dour, but Lior could completely understand. She’d had a very private article of clothing stolen from her; of course she wasn’t in high spirits. Edith seemed oblivious to her mood. Perhaps the two were closer than they appeared. Lior wouldn’t know not having many friends of her own. Both girls seemed to be faring far better than the albino would have expected. Even staying in the same room seemed rather strange given what had happened. What if the robbers came back? Hearing her partner’s voice brought her out of her thoughts. Ah yes, the investigation. She’d been completely spacing out.
Lior would hardly describe herself as a normal girl. Her own room constantly had the curtains drawn, was generally not well lit, and everything from the paint on the walls to the sheets on her bed was as hypoallergenic as could be. However she supposed some things were still the same. Nothing seemed terribly out of place that she noticed. Mimicking Rhett, she wandered over to look at the dresser. The drawer of panties was still open and still looking rifled through. Lior blushed a bit out of embarrassment for the two girls. Poor things, this must be terribly difficult for them.
Trying to put her own worries aside and focus on the mission, Lior closed her eyes and brought both hands together before her face as if she were praying. She didn’t have what one could call experience with investigating anything. The closest thing she could think of was searching for her younger brother when he’d run off to the other side of the Menke estate without informing either herself or the nanny. He had a bad habit of hiding behind the curtains on the windows; it made him almost impossible to find when he was younger. The thought of the windows gave the albino girl an idea, though. With a shy smile, she looked to Maura,
“Miss Bailey, you said the perpetrators broke in through the windows, correct? Which one was it that they used as an entry point?”

After giving the NOT students the go ahead, she vaguely kept an eye on them. Her main focus was making sure Edith and Lenore were really okay with all of this. She knew Edith was a very optimistic sort and than Lenore really didn’t give two fucks over something that could very easily be replaced, but she did know that the latter of the two was more upset by the invasion of personal space than anything else. Raising an eyebrow, she slowly wandered over and sat on the side of the bed Edith was currently not occupying. The blonde seemed completely absorbed in braiding the redhead’s hair, humming along to herself silently. Maura glanced over at the NOT students before speaking the silent girl,
“How are you two holding up?”
Lenore rolled her eyes,
“I’ll be much better once we catch the bastards and hang them from trees outside with razor wire.”
Well, that was one opinion. Edith was far more reined in, even chuckling at her roommate’s response,
“I’m sure they have their reasons. It’s rather silly, really, stealing something they could just buy for cheap at any store if they really wanted them that badly.”
The superintendent sighed. These girls really were something. She turned her gaze back to the NOT students, both of whom seemed to be inspecting the dresser. It made sense after all, although Rhett also bothered to look under the bed as well. Maura picked her feet up off the floor when the young man bent to look so she wouldn’t obstruct his view. Lior posed an interesting question to her, though. So this chick had been paying attention earlier when she mentioned the windows. Maura nodded and pointed to the window in the right corner near the bed that belonged to Edith,
“That one right there. Apparently the lock on that one is faulty, right Edith?”
The blonde nodded, not taking her eyes off of Lenore’s hair,
“It’s never really locked right; just tapping on the glass for a bit wiggles it loose. The screen was cut, too, though. I think that must be how they got in.”
Maura sighed. The blonde should have told her, she could've had it fixed and none of this would've happened. As far as evidence went Edith was correct; the screen had indeed been cut. The lock on the inside of the window had been painted over in times previous, hence why it refused to close properly. The screen had one large tear in it next to what looked to be a failed attempt to cut through it. Either the instrument used to cut it wasn’t very sharp or whoever wielded it wasn’t very skilled. Another issue was the size of the hole. No way would anyone bigger than maybe a toddler would be able to fit through it. Lenore glanced at Lior, her eyes lingering on the albino for just a moment before also looking at Rhett,
“The window was only halfway open when we got back if that helps. Oh, they also took Edith’s emergency cookie stash for whatever reason.”
Edith pouted and hid her face in her roommate’s shoulder, showing unrest for the first time during the investigation,
“My mom made me those! Now I have to wait until the next time I go home to have them, those cruel thieves!”

Lior had the right idea in asking about the windows. Rhett decided to stand back and see what his meister could uncover with her questions. Waiting for her would help him figure out some of the basics and then he could move in for more depth if needed, teamwork! So far it was working which was great. It was like he was detective Conan or something! Plus as another motive this way Lior could talk more and hopefully get more comfortable with it for future missions. Rhett looked over the window in question while the others talked about how they had found it.
Nodding his head Rhett was starting to piece together one possible scenario for the event. Running his finger along the cut in the window he examined the breaking as well as looked to measure the distance that the window was open. Hmm this could go into multiple situations from what he had deduced so more information was needed to make the actual event clear. Closing his eyes he mentally looked around the room and tried to recreate the event to figure this mystery out. Opening them he looked at the girls who lived in the room.
”So they cut through the screen and snuck in through a half open window. Stealing just panties and cookies?”
Tapping his foot Rhett tried to narrow down the handful of situations he had. Stepping away from the window he scanned the floor under it to see if there were any marks from the intruder. If he saw any that would at least help him know how it happened if not find out who broke in. Catching them was another matter entirely but that could be figured out later after they knew who it was and how they broke in.
”Were there any cuts or marks on the floor under the window? From a sharp object stabbing it?”
He hoped so and that the scene was repeated in the other room. That would narrow things down and make things at least ten times easier! Either way he was going to figure this out so him and Lior could pass the mission and move onto better ones! Finding out how they broke in would be the first step and then narrowing it down to culprits from there. No need to bother trying to find them before knowing how they broke in or why. Well any more reason why they needed besides panties and cookies.

Alright, so the perpetrators had broken in through a window after all. Lior was quite pleased with herself having managed to ask a question that helped further the investigation. A shy smile crept onto her face for just a moment before disappearing as she wandered to stand nearer to Rhett. He was already inspecting the window, but two pairs of eyes had to be better than one. While she had the upmost confidence in her partner’s detective skills, she may still be able to notice something that he’d missed. Tilting her head, Lior squinted at the screen as thought it may help her see it better.
Sure enough, there was quite the hole in it. Still, it was awfully small. Were the burglars perhaps some mischievous children? It would certainly explain the missing cookies if that were the case. Hearing Rhett muse to himself about the clues, Lior furrowed her brows as she took a closer look at the screen,
“I think cut is an overstatement. The holes look a bit ragged to me. Perhaps the culprit cut only a small portion and then tore through the rest?”
The albino girl was merely thinking out loud. At this point she was still considering all of the clues, which weren’t very populous at this point in time. A rifled through dresser drawer and a torn screen were hardly clues. If they were real detectives they could examine fingerprints and search for DNA, but alas no such thing would be happening.
As far as questions went, Rhett seemed to have that taken care of. Hearing what they were, though, made Lior look down to inspect the floor beneath her feet. She hoped she hadn’t stepped on any important clues. She certainly couldn’t see anything that looked terribly important, but perhaps she was just being pessimistic. Or unobservant. She could be looking directly at an important clue and not even know it given her tendencies.
Moreover, the albino was beginning to wonder just how they were going to handle the culprits when and if they found them. Lior really was hoping it was just a couple of kids and all they’d have to do was scold them. On the other hand, if it was a group of students from the boy’s dorms nearby then that may pose a bit more of an issue that Lior really would rather not deal with.
