Name: Bartal Walsh
Nickname: Mr. Walsh
Age: 38
Gender: Male
Race: Weapon
Position: Teacher
Class: Death Scythe
Partner: N/A
A Strong Body
Picture:
Appearance: Bartal is rather tall standing at six feet and having a sturdy build at 168 pounds. His hair is an average brown color and cut in short messy spikes. His hair barely reaches his neck in the back and stops around his eyes in the front. Bartal’s eyes are a pale blue color that stands out slightly with his darker hair. On his face is usually a little bit of stubble that he keeps from growing into a full beard. His skin being slightly tanned from time spent outside Bartal does look slightly paler than one would expect due to his choice in clothing. It is easy to see that Bartal is muscular even under his clothing and he makes no effort to hide it.
On a normal day Bartal can be seen wearing some mix of t-shirt, jeans, boots, and gloves. Usually in plain or darker colors and never anything vibrant. Outside of a classroom it is not uncommon to see him in a jacket or trench coat depending on the weather. Overall his attire is generally unassuming…until he decides to not be. Bartal has a custom made outfit that is his weapon form and he will wear it whenever he feels like. On a mission, in a classroom, or just to walk down the streets Bartal randomly breaks it out and his unassuming wardrobe is covered by the striking silver. While wearing the outfit his entire body is covered including his face so he can seem to be someone else.
Height: 6’0”
Weight: 168 lbs
Fighting Style: Bartal’s fighting style is closest to MMA fighting in execution. Having trained in no specific style while at Shibusen he picked up what he could from other students and teachers. His focus is on strength and he fights like a tank. Using his partial form he can provide enough defense for himself to rush in and smash a target with his fist. Bartal also knows a variety of grabs and kicks as well but if he has to fight by himself he is most proficient with his fist.
Personality: At first glance Bartal may appear to be intimidating and he certainly can come across as a serious and strict person. This isn’t entirely false as he prefers to maintain a mostly professional appearance while teaching a class. He enforces rules and will call someone out if they break one, including punishment if he feels it is warranted. Any unruliness in class will end in being the example for lessons or being put on the spot for the difficult questions. That aside he will offer help to anyone who needs it during class but once class ends he drops the professional exterior.
Outside of class Bartal is much more laid back than he is in class. Visit him in his office and find him with his feet up on a cluttered desk. Generally he has a positive attitude toward most things and tries to express this to those around him. Not treating most things seriously he handles situations with ease and tends to just roll with what happens. Bartal does have an expert sense of control and can change his outlook to fit the situation quickly. Come to him with a problem and he will do what he can to help you find the answer on your own.
Being able to adjust easily Bartal certainly knows how to act in a serious battle compared to a sparring one. Taking things slowly he will read an enemy and figure out what they need help in and focus on that. Against a real enemy he finds weak points quickly and attacks hard. Despite fighting like a tank Bartal is very big on strategy and analyzing a situation before deciding on an action. He tends to care more about analyzing a situation and making the best action than following rules when it counts.
Inside the Soul
Weapon form: Bartal is a Demon Coat In his full weapon form Bartal resembles a metallic trench coat with a high collar. Accents and buttons being a dark blue color. While it looks like it is made of metal the form itself moves like normal fabric and feels like tough plastic on the outside, however it is metal like and acts as armor when worn. Plus weapon abilities aside it functions as a normal trench coat and can keep the meister warm.
Partial Form:Being a death scythe Bartal can make the most out of his partial form. Effectively wearing his weapon form Bartal can make use of the great defense boost his weapon form offers. It does nothing in terms of upping his offensive power but that has never been a problem.
Abilities: One size fits all: Bartal has a very flexible wavelength and this allows him to match his wavelength with almost everyone.
Sharply Dressed: While worn the meister experiences an increase in speed, physical strength, and augmentation to soul attacks.
Resonances: Forced resonance-reverse straight: Bartal uses his flexible wavelength to resonate with an enemy. Encasing them with his weapon form he restrains their body and locks their movement, leaving them defenseless. A meister can then attack with a soul purge and his abilities will augment the attack into the enemy instead of protecting them.

History: Bartal was born to two weapon parents who had moved to Death City in order to attend Shibusen. Being the child of two Shibusen students and born in Death City Bartal is a natural Death Child. Growing up in Death City he has always been surrounded by the oddness that the city characterizes. His parents taught him about Shibusen and the workings of the school from an early age and they always assumed he would end up going. Looking up to his parents and the other students of the school Bartal wanted to join the school from an early age.
When he was six years old his weapon blood manifested itself while listening to his father explain how he transformed. Sitting on the floor he took in the words and pictured the sword of his soul, his body transforming into a trench coat as he did so. It was an exciting moment for everyone and not terrible surprising as both his parents were wearable weapons. Proud that Bartal managed to transform into a weapon they celebrated his achievement and Bartal couldn’t have been happier. After his discovery his parents began to prepare him for when he would enter Shibusen.
Having two previous Shibusen students as parents Bartal was taught the basics of what to expect from the school. Along with learning the basics his parents also helped him with training and getting into shape for the trials he would face. During his parent’s training Bartal also gained better control of his transformation but had no idea what abilities he possessed. His training started sow but became more advanced as he grew older. Confident in his abilities for what they were Bartal was ready to enter Shibusen and see what he was capable of with a meister, as well as wanting to fight kishin eggs like his parents had.
At the age of 13 Bartal entered Shibusen and was excited to get started. Once he was in however he encountered a sizable problem, his weapon form was not something many people desired to partner with. Skilled enough to be in the one star class he went to classes and practiced like everyone else in his class despite his lack of a meister. After a year of no luck he finally ran into someone willing to partner up with a coat weapon. After the two worked together they discovered the abilities that Bartal possessed and the two became a team.
With his new partner Lee the two of them began life as one stars. Living in the student dorms they became friends quickly and developed as a team. Lee being one of the many students not from Death City Bartal helped him adjust to the strangeness that exists around the school. After plenty of practice they headed out on their first mission. With a weapon that acted better for defense than offence they struggled against the kishin, possibly more than most teams, but in the end came out victorious. With one soul obtained the team began their progression.
After completing their first mission the two kept going and improving. Not rushing the two continued to take missions and develop their skills. Slowly they moved up the ranks and moved into two stars and eventually three stars. At the age of 18 Bartal had consumed 99 souls and just had the witch soul left to become a death scythe. Finding a witch that they felt they could take down the two headed off to India in search. It took them about a week to find where the witch was but once they knew they attacked.
After a fight that was rough on all of them Bartal and Lee came out victorious. Consuming the soul Bartal became a death scythe and they headed back to Shibusen. Having gone so far the two decided to head their separate ways, Lee heading out in the world to find a job and Bartal deciding to join the army. Being a weapon and a death scythe especially he was an asset to the military. Being a force to be reckoned with on his own he could also be worn by any solider and act as armor and a physical boost to them. After going through training he entered combat and served. Reaching the rank of captain at the age of 29 he served for a few more years before leaving at age 32.
After leaving the army Bartal decided to travel around the world and explore. Not being one of the death scythes positioned by Shinigami he was not called in with the others to face Asura. During that time he was travelling through Europe and unaware of the situation. When the crisis was over he was contacted by the new Shinigami about taking up a teaching position at Shibusen. Accepting he headed back to Nevada and became a teacher at Shibusen.
Extra Notes: His desk is usually very sloppy. He will jokingly call out students for thins, especially makeouts

RP Sample: If there was one thing Bartal enjoyed about teaching the more advanced students it was having his classes later in the day. It was so much better being able to wake up and have time to prepare for class instead of having to rush to Deathbucks for coffee to get him through the day.Gathering everything he needed he headed off to the school to get ready for classes to start. Pulling on the silver trench coat that mimicked his weapon form Bartal stepped out into the bright Nevada sun. Pulling down his hat to block the light his face was nearly obscured completely but he didn’t seem to mind it.
On his way to the school he was met with two kinds of reactions, people staring or walking by as if the sight was normal. An unexpected side effect of his outfit was that it helped him distinguish who was a death child and who wasn’t. Death children had a tendency to see him and count it as just the usual strangeness of Death City while outsiders needed to take a moment to understand, It served no real purpose other than to amuse him but it did that well.
Reaching the school he walked up the steps in no time and made his way to the classroom. From what he remembered his class on resonance was in the crescent moon room so after a short walk he made it to his goal. Checking his watch he was about three minutes late so everyone should be inside the classroom, just what he wanted. Pushing open the door he walked inside and looked over the gathered students before putting his hands behind his back and simply stading.
”Alright let’s get class started. Who here has managed to achieve a resonance?”
A couple of students raised their hands and he assumed which ones were teamed with each other. After getting a count he nodded his head slightly with his face still covered and spoke again.
”Good, now everyone come with me. We’re going on a field trip so I can see what you can do.”
With that he waited a short moment for the students to get out of their seats before turning around and walking out the door and heading for the desert. He conveniently left out how he was going to have them show their resonance but that was part of the fun. Hopefully there was that one person who was more bothersome than the others or else he might end up scaring some poor kid. Oh well, he would figure that out when they got there.
