Dion was trying to keep his attention on all the things going on. On one hand he wanted to keep the creature in view at all times if he could. Though he wanted to make sure he knew what Nat and the other students were doing as well. Focusing on the creature he didn't notice if Nat was using her soul perception on the thing or not. He figured she would as there really wasn't any reason not to do so. So obviously during that time he didn't notice that she headed toward the other group of gathered students.
Noticing the disappearance of Nat Dion looked to see where the meister had gone. He wasn't particularly worried about her but she was the one source of soul perception he knew about. Spotting her with the other group Dion headed over to them at a slight jog of a pace. On the way it seemed like a few of his questions would be answered. Alright so the girl of the group and her weapon, who must have been that one shorter blond kid, were only NOT students but the taller one was a one star. Well it could have been worse.
It didn't seem like any of the others were too thrilled at his plan of keeping it distracted. He couldn't really blame them considering he wasn't even sure how he was going to make it work. Catching up with the group he shook his head and looked at the thing. "I figure there has to be some way to get its attention. I mean it did stare at me so maybe I can keep it occupied for a few seconds." That was as far as he got with the plan and the flaws were already clearly apparent. "We just need to make sure it doesn't do anything dangerous until a teacher shows up."
That seemed like the best thing to do for now. The main issue was that they didn't know when a teacher would show up or if that would even do anything.Would a teacher actually get on the radar of this monster? Dion hoped so or else there wasn't much they could do about it. Taking a few steps forward he stood a little in front of the other students to look at the thing. It didn't seem to be doing anything aside from walking but that was the unnerving part. Dion had to be ready to protect the others if things took a turn for the worse.
Thinking about their situation didn't exactly brighten anything up. As a combined group there were three one stars and two NOT students, and of course the only complete team was the NOT students. On second thought he wasn't sure if this was good or not. Sure they lacked any sort of significant power but that may have been a blessing in disguise. If the teams were complete they might have been overconfident and done something stupid. He knew if Misaki was here he may have been tempted to charge the thing with their resonance. That may have made things worse for them with all he knew.
Staying where he was Dion kept watching the creature as it slowly moved closer to the school. What was it doing? He was worried looking away would make him miss it doing something. Not looking back at the others Dion tried to come up with some kind of plan. "Watching it is fine but no one should get too close to it, we don't know what it can do yet. Maybe someone should get a teacher in case they don't know for some reason. I would volunteer but I think I should be here if something goes wrong."
Remembering something Dion remained looking at the creature but spoke to Natsuki. "Hey Nat, what can you see with your soul perception?" Knowing what they were up against would help Dion plan a next move.

The chimes of the clock outside the school rang through Kaylin’s ears. A broad smile on her face, the girl merely laughed to herself. How many classes did she miss again? It wasn’t out of the ordinary for the young meister to miss a class here or there. Her mind was never where it should be, and her body was never far behind. Sporadic and everywhere. It wasn’t that the young woman had taken the extra few hours in the morning to sleep, oh no. Kaylin would never waste time with such a silly activity! Dreams were nice, but life was better!
The meister had been out of her bed at five in the morning. Out of her bed with the same energy she would have all day, a bursting and joyful excess. Her morning routine included running a comb through her hair a whole TWO times, brushing her teeth at the speed of light, and throwing on clothes. Today apparently her outfit consisted of bright, neon green shorts and a yellow loose-fitting tanktop with a black sequined smiley sewn to it. Obnoxious colors and a smile, greatly fitting to the young woman.
Then out the door she was. Apparently this was not a morning she felt like wearing shoes, or taking her whip with her. As always, her gloves were upon her hands, even if the colors nowhere matched the shorts and shirt she wore. A run. That’s what she had ‘decided’ to start her day with. All on a whim. This run lasted two hours. Now… Kaylin’s definition of run was not a simple, run in circles for exercise. The female made her way around Death City wherever her feet would take her. Running down streets, climbing up fire escapes, running over rooftops, sliding down the roofs, through the park, dancing in front of the bakery… Her run equaled activity. Straight activity with no meaning for at least two hours.
The remainder of the time spent by her until noon was not much different. The meister grabbed a bit to eat from a friend she had made. A fellow student who she dropped in on from time to time. An apple and a cinnamon bun was received by the energetic meister, greedily eaten, and then she parted for her activities once again. Her mind completely slipping that she had a class at eight, for no reminder was physically in front of her, Kaylin continued running around the city.
She found a stray cat. Chased it around for a while. When she finally caught it, she received a nice scratch across her right upper arm. Only reacting with a laugh, she let the cat go and continued after it as if nothing had happened. Cat and mouse!!! Though… it never really hit her that the roles were ironically reversed. Then she attempted to follow birds on the rooftops… Played hopscotch with younger children. Some jumprope. Drew with chalk on the sidewalk…
Then time returns back to the noon chime. Her mind not even thinking twice, she took off for the school. At least now her mind registered that she had a class. Too bad it slipped her mind that she wasn’t exactly in her normal attire. Nor did she have shoes on. And that she had colored chalkdust covered her forearms and some on her face. The girl sprinted, running with all of her energy and force. Not because she feared being late, but because she simply wanted to. Joy rang in her heart at all moments, and this was no exception.
What she found when she came face to ‘face’ with the school was different than normal. Even Kaylin couldn’t be oblivious enough to miss that. Crowds of people! A larger grin made its way across her face, a newfound excitement bubbling up from within her stomach and threatening to explode. Jumping three times on the tip of her bare feet, her mind raced as to her next motion. Her eyes moved over the crowd, her senses somewhat honing into the situation. People. Crowd. Circle. Around….. Bird? BIRD!!!! And like that she was off again. Leapfrogging over one of her fellow students and propelling herself into the air somewhat, then using the shoulder of the next student in ‘line’ to help herself jump into the air, over the circling students and into the ring of emptiness that included the creeper and the few lone ranger students!
The students mostly went unnoticed to Kaylin. In the back of her mind, she knew she wasn’t the only one in the center of the attention (excluding the creature), but it never registered consciously. Her eyes, soul, attention, body, mood, everything was focused on that creature. What she was convinced was a…
”Birdman!”
When one realizes that she comes from a traveling circus… it may make sense that thinking a bird man was normal would come with a traveling group of oddities. She was far from afraid like the rest, she was excited! Stupidly so? Definitely. Out of character? Not one bit. This was exactly one of the reasons that few could partner with her. Dangerous situations. Yet… She had proven herself time and time again that… in some strange way… She could pull through. With flying colors at time.
Not skipping a beat, once her feet had connected again with the ground, she closed the distance between her and the birdman. Coming from the back right of the creature, a few feet from it she pushed off the ground again with her feet, forcing her body forward. Tucking her head down, letting her hands lightly make contact with the ground and pushing off once again. The girl completed a front hand spring, her feet hitting the ground close to the creature’s side. Her hands instantly shot out to grab the side of the creature’s cloak, meaning to tug on it excitedly as she also exclaimed,
”Is Jack here?!”
Her teacher. That’s who she was questioning about.

It seemed that whatever the creature was it was giving the students some time to plan and think about their next course of action. While slowly moving toward the school it paid them no mind and continued to do as it was. In the process more and more students either went inside the school or left so that the crowd of gathered students outside the school grew even smaller. Those that remained kept a very safe distance from the creature and only observed it in an effort to keep themselves safe in case of emergency. Only one girl dared to approach the creature and even grabbed onto its cloak, and for that she was met with a swift jolt of pain before the taloned foot kicked her away. Free of the pest the creature continued on.
With the amount of students outside diminishing there was a creepy silence spreading over the school grounds. The odd chatter here and there and the sounds of the now one group of students that seemed to be thinking of how to deal with the creature were the only voices heard in the area. In addition to the few sounds of cars from the lower streets of Death City there wasn’t much noise happening in the school grounds as the creature progressed toward the school. It was only fitting that the silence was about to be horribly broken.
”Commence stage two.”
At the mental command the creature stopped dead in its tracks and simply stood facing the school. The silence was broken by the sound of skin being ripped apart. The figure started to shake slightly as the sound took on a noticeable wetness to it. Suddenly the figure spit out a large glop of black sludge that hit the ground and began to sizzle. After that was done the figure opened an unnaturally largemouth at an impossible angle and without facing the students outside it screamed.
A scream that sounded like nails scrapping against a chalkboard, bones being ground together, and birds screaming emerged from its mouth. With the figure screaming its mouth opened wider to the point that the head of the figure was nearly divided in half. All of the students present would hear, and more importantly feel the sound that the creature was making. But it would not be something that just affected the students gathered, no it would be heard all through Death City, the gathered students were just at the epicenter. No one in Death City was safe from the scream of the cloaked figure, and the effects that came with it.
Along with the mind numbing scream of the creature was something much more dangerous, madness. The scream released a wave of concentrated madness over Death City with the school at the epicenter. Inside the school the students had at least some level of protection in the form of physical walls but that could only dampen the effects so much. Students were feeling the effects of madness and many had to be restrained or at the least snapped out of the effect. Teachers took action and began to move students away from the grounds and as far away from the creature as they could.
As far as the students in the grounds some had simply collapsed from the unfamiliar and intense wave of madness. Not only was the noise enough to drive one mad but the added madness that came with it certainly did the job. Without some innate resistance to madness the students would be at the mercy of the wave along with the rest of Death City. Unimaginable pain would wash through the student’s brains and the madness would eat away at their remaining sanity. If they didn’t figure out something quick it was only a matter of time before one of them gave into the throws of madness.

The green haired kid had a point. The thing had stopped to stare at him when he got in its way. Dante really didn’t think trying such a thing a second time would be a good idea, but then again this guy was also a One Star. Maybe he could handle it. The teacher idea was a good idea though. The teachers definitely needed to be notified, granted if they didn’t already know something was up by how all the students were freaking out then they really needed to rethink their life choices in Dante’s opinion. On another added note was that they had Nat and her Soul Perception, which was now for certain since the green haired boy had mentioned it. To be perfectly honest, Dante just a bit worried about what she saw. If this was a Kishin Egg, then the entire situation just got about ten times worse.
Well, the whole not touching the creepy creature idea also went out the window with the arrival of a new student on the scene. Dante wasn’t sure what she was on about, but when he saw her reach for the thing a wave of panic went through him. Granted the reaction the suspicious thing had wasn’t as bad as he anticipated. He’d pictured something like the poor girl exploding but it just kicked her away. Dante took a step forward but then stopped. On the one hand he should stay with the group. On the other hand, he wanted to help her. Sighing, he turned his gaze back on the clocked figure,
“Well, that answers the question of what happens if we get too close to it.”
Of course any thought as to what exactly they should do next was thrown at the window at the sound that was heard. Dante flinched at the sound of tearing flesh. Staring up at the thing in wide-eyed terror, he watched it closely. He didn’t know what it was doing, but he knew that he really didn’t like it. The ooze was unexpected. Dante could claim to be a lot of things, but in this case brave really wasn’t one of them. The blonde jumped back a bit out of instinct when the black sludge hit the ground, pulling a face of disgust as it sizzled,
“Well that’s…yuck.”
Dante would have contemplated further on just what in the nine hells the creepy creature had just spat out, but he was very suddenly clapping his hands over his ears and wincing in pain. For the love of all that was holy, what was this thing and why, or all things, was it screaming? The noise was unbearable and painful to the point where the blonde couldn’t form a single coherent thought that wasn’t some form of curse. Even worse was that there wasn’t just noise. What brought Dante to his knees was the madness combined with the pain together.
This was bad, this was terrible, this was catastrophic. The Italian really should have just stayed in bed today but it was far too late for that. This was Dante’s first encounter with madness, and this was madness at a very powerful level of all things. He could feel it eating away at his mind, but he fought it, tried to ignore it. But the pain made him weak and clouded his thoughts over, all he could think of was how his head was pounding and his ears were ringing. Dante tried to think of things to keep himself sane. Natsuki beautiful face, Tori yelling at him for whatever reason, his sisters complaining, running on rooftops in the rain, but everything he tried was very readily replaced with searing pain and that damned whispering in the back of his mind, urging him to give in. He couldn’t help himself. He couldn’t fight it.
The pain remained; of course, this was plainly obvious by his facial expression. The blonde’s features were still contorted in agony; however he managed to lift his gaze and glared at the damned thing. He’d never wanted to hurt something as badly as he wanted to hurt that shrieking bastard of a bird right now. The madness felt like it had dumped raw energy into his veins along with a healthy dose of complete and utter malice aimed directly at the screaming creature. Fuck caution, fuck being afraid, fuck everything, he would give it something to scream about. From what Dante could see of it, the only thing it had to be screaming about was the fact that its mouth was a giant, gaping hole. Well, that was what it got for being a creepy bird thing.
Removing his right hand from covering his ear and wincing at the excess sound that berated him, Dante slowly rose to his feet. His eyes were fixed on the cloaked figure and gleamed with unadulterated loathing for it. The look on his face was a mix of annoyance and hatred, made all the more terrifying as a shamefully sadistic grin slowly formed on his lips. Holding his right hand out, Dante activated his partial form, the blade of a rapier taking the place of his hand before he snarled at the screaming creature,
“Taci! Ho intenzione di sviscerare voi.”

The miester did take her eyes off of the thing as ideas where being bounced back and fourth in the group. They where wasting time just standing around and talking like this but getting a teacher should be the top priority. There needed to be someone to go and get a teacher but the green haired had a point about not leaving. Then again weren't here two other one star students as well. "Hey Klaus you look like a big strong guy. You think you can get past that thing and get to a teacher?" She did see that this partial was a shield so she thought out of any of them if the thing attacked he would be the best at getting past it.
But then to Tori the unthinkable happened. A new girl came on the scene and obviously she had arrived after the green hair boy said that they should stay away from it. She grabbed the thing by it's clock and turned and asked about someone. Tori didn't care the tinny Brit was suddenly filled with panic and anger towards the girl. "Are you and bloody fool! Get away from that thing before it does something!"It was too late for that now as the thing ripped it's mouth open and Tori heard Dante say something behind her.
It felt like Tori's head got hit by a truck and the girl feel to her knees holding her ears screaming from the pain shutting her eyes. It was an awful din and Tori felt like her ear drums where going to burst from it. Then the madness washed over her. She opened her eyes wide as she felt it seep into her mind and chip away at her sanity. She was normal stable girl but this was far to much for the Brit. She began to laugh like a mad woman standing up removing her hands from her ears. She didn't care anymore, she cared for nothing.
"NO!"
Tori grabbed at her head and gave it a yank like she was trying to pull the madness out of her. "No!" She yelled again closing her and trying to stabilize her mind. She needed to find something to bring her back. She looked around and saw her weapon. Dante looked like the madness was effecting him far worse then her. That was it! Dante was the key she needed."DANTE!"
Her eyes opened wide as she watched her weapon get to his feet and changed his hand into a blade. "Dante no!" Tori ran over to her weapon, her weapon the only thing she cared about at this moment. "Dante! Dante snap out of it you're stronger then this!" Tori stands between him and the screaming madness monster. "Dante I can't lose you to this I need you! You have to snap out of this!" Tori closes the gap and grabs him around the wait to stop him from walking. She looks up at him and grabs the back of his neck pulling his forehead down to hers. "Dante you are my weapon and my best friend I can't let the madness take you. I can't lose you to this. I wont let it take you. Dante I'm sorry for this but you need to snap out of this." Tori lets go of the back of his head.
SLAP!
Tori cracks her weapon across the face as hard as she could. It was a long shot but if he snapped out of it for just a second that was all she needed. "If you want to take this thing on Dante we are going to have to work together to keep the madness away." She hold out her hand to him indicting for him to turn into his weapon form. That way they would have better access to each others souls. "Let do this Dante."

Things were possibly starting to take a turn for the better! A little bit of a plan was forming and they might be able to use that and survive this situation. The NOT girl suggested the larger kid go and try to get the teachers. He was a one star student and with the partial form he had it did look like he could make it to the door safely. Dion nodded but still kept his eyes on the creature ”Yeah that sounds like a good idea. Klaus or whatever, you try to get a teacher.” Now it was just a matter of him making it to the school and bringing someone back.
Well that was the plan until a few things happened to change that. First was the appearance of a random girl who vaulted over some students and went up to the creature. He would have said she was pretty brave for approaching it if he didn’t think she was too idiotic for doing so. That was something he would expect from his friend Bang but not any other student he knew. The girl even reached out and grabbed the thing by the cloak, at least he could see if there were any ill effects from touching the thing.
Apparently not as the girl was simply kicked away with the talon of a foot the creature had. Dion couldn’t tell if she was injured or not but for the moment he was trying to protect the group of students. He figured a kick wouldn’t do too much to a Shibusen student so nothing to worry about. Besides, he was more concerned with what the creature was doing. After kicking the girl the creature walked a little forward and did something different, it stopped walking. This sudden change caught Dion’s attention as he stared at the cloaked creature.
He was watching the figure intently when he heard the sound. It wasn’t something he was used to or expecting to happen. Still staring Dion was sure the creature was causing the noise but didn’t know how or why. Maybe it was really weak and was breaking apart now? No, he wouldn’t be that lucky. From where he was he didn’t see the black ooze that was taken off of the creature until he heard it smack down onto the ground. Maybe it was actually falling apart and then they could just outlast it?
That was his thought on the matter until he saw the thing open what he assumed was supposed to be a mouth. Eyes widening he got ready to dodge an attack but again things did not happen as he expected. There was no projectile attack being launched out of that mouth. No beam or shot, no it was just a scream. Not a normal scream but a scream it was. Dion would have let out a sigh of relief if he didn’t instantly clamp his hands over his ears and grimace in pain as soon as he heard the scream.
That was a horrible sound! Hardly able to keep his eyes open from the sound he looked from the creature to see how the others were doing. Not any better than he was doing by the looks of it. The one even was brought to him knees by the sound so Dion knew it had to stop soon for their sake. It was a little later that he felt the madness reach him and a grin spread over his face. ”I wonder if my shorter partial form could kill one of them? Maybe the extended one could go through an arm?” Before the thoughts made any hold on him he shook his head to try and break the madness.
This was now infinitely worse and they had to do something about it. Turning to the group he primarily addressed the taller kid ”Everyone try to stay calm! Klaus or whatever look after these two, I’ll go get a teacher!” Then Dion broke away from the group and made a dash for the doors of the school. He wasn’t worried about the creature at the moment; he was just focused on getting inside and stopping this. If he didn’t make it he wasn’t sure how much longer he could resist the very tempting suggestions the madness was giving him. Hopefully the others could hold on for a little bit longer without falling into the madness.

The initial contact with the creature was not at all something Kaylin expected. Sure, Kaylin grabbed the cloak of the figure. She didn’t much imagine it would happen any other way. The same excited grin as always with a flash of confusion in her eyes. As soon as the pain washed through her hands she recoiled. Even animal instinct would have someone do that, it didn’t require much thought. The next was the swift kick from the creature. The only reason she caught the movement is because she was already looking down at her hands. No real time to totally avoid the movement, but that never really entered her head anyway. Too much thinking. Kaylin lifted her leg, letting the taloned foot collide with her bare shin and used the momentum to let her leg move backwards, to which she then shifted her bodyweight onto it, bending her knee slightly and jumping from the one leg into a backwards handspring once again. Landing on her feet not too far from the creature, she looked at the thing curiously, her same grin upon her face.
Many thoughts ran through the female’s mind. Scattered thoughts. Things teachers had told her and what students had warned her, training from Jack, advice from people… All running together. Danger was the main word in her mind, but still she had found no real definition for that word. It seemed to hold a meaning that these people all could understand, but Kaylin hadn’t grasped. She didn’t get fear.
Kaylin still hadn’t quite realized there were other people there. Sure… she knew. But she didn’t really recognize the fact or care. It never entered her mind to care. One other little fact didn’t click with her either. A talon had caught her just a bit. A slice across her leg. Nothing too bad, probably stung a bit, and just a bit of blood slowly making its way down her leg. This lack of knowledge was bliss for her mind, plenty of space for her other thoughts! Her grin still on her face, she kept a distance between her and the creature, for it might be ‘dangerous’ (yea might…), but she began to circle it. Began meaning she was taking pretty slow steps and her attention was moving back and forth over different things that were catching her attention. It stopped. That was the first interesting thing.
A smile on the girl’s face, she seemed to be unphased by the occurrences. A sound met her ears above any murmuring voices. Tearing flesh. Kaylin couldn’t say she had ever really heard that sound before… maybe similar to when her father’s tigers gave birth? Was there going to be a baby!? An excited grin on her face, the girl hurried in her wide ‘circle’ so that she would be face to ‘face’ with the creature. Next was the black sludge. Her first assumption? THAT WAS THE BABY! Only one thing held the girl back from rushing to where the blackness sizzled on the ground. The reason wasn’t the present situation, it was from past experience. Her father had told her once long ago, mommy’s don’t like their new babies touched. Though Kaylin couldn’t understand why, she wasn’t about to go against her father. Even now.
The mouth and scream came next. Kaylin’s mouth dropped, partially from mimickry and partially from surprise. There was a faint smile-like quality to her expression, her eyes sparkling with delight. She had seen snakes dislodge their jaws before, but nothing like this. This creature was awesome! That’s when the awful noise hit her ears. Wincing, covering her ears, and mostly closing her mouth, the girl let out a quiet laugh. The poor baby, its mother was cranky.
The sensation that came along with the noise was like nothing Kaylin had ever experienced. She had nothing to relate it to, nothing at all. Her mind couldn’t comprehend it in any way shape or form. It was like she could feel it moving from within her. But… what ‘it’ was she didn’t know. Something was different. This was an inward realization, not something the girl consciously thought of. Mostly her mind was focused on trying to place this feeling. Her whole self was trembling with pain and excitement and she couldn’t find anything to link it to.
Teachers had debated the relationship of Kaylin’s personality and madness before. Concern had been shown with how she handled things and with how she thought about the world. Her mind was not totally linked in to reality, didn’t show a logical thought process all the time and most certainly would carry on into any avenue linked with a positive emotion. Though most find it true that every one at the school has a bit of madness ‘inside them,’ some are more prone than others. Kaylin seemed to be accepting of it much faster…
Her normally joyful smile had twisted just a bit, her eyes a bit wider. A crazed look, not quite focused. Her vision darted over all the students. A sword speaking words that she couldn’t understand. A weeping woman appeared from nowhere and started high fiving the sword. And a gingerbread man ran for the school. It all made sense… and didn’t. The scenes were real and weren’t. Kaylin saw the gingerbread man, but also recognized him from class. These were all people, but they weren’t. A laugh started escape the girl once again, a deep instead of light one like normal.
Her eyes had settled on the talking sword and high-fiving weeper. Maybe the talking sword was a result of fairies!? Maybe that meant the woman was a fairy? The girl started towards the pair, not even totally realizing she was still laughing quietly. Her steps were faltering slightly, a light pain in her leg but also the unknown pain and excitement coursing through her mind and body. She felt strong and full of energy. Ready to go.
That’s when she noticed the weeping lady looking at the mommy bird and baby. Did they want to see if Jack was around too? In a moment, Kaylin had shifted from awkward walking to a sprint. In only a few fractions of a second she was in front of the pair, looking straight at Victoria, but not looking at her… all at the same time. Her gaze was on her for a moment, then she looked to the talking sword, then back to Victoria. Only one question left her mouth.
”are you a fairy?”
Not exactly a question brought about by the madness… but usually found strange all the same.

Everything was going according to plan. All around the creature the madness was flowing and driving those that heard the sound to the brink of insanity. In the meantime the creature remained unchanged with its mouth nearly dividing its head in two and emitting the horrendous scream from its gapping maw. Of course it had no problem with this and didn’t even require taking a breath in order to maintain the mind-numbing scream. As the students fell under the effects of the madness it was successful in fulfilling the goal of its mission. Now it was a matter of waiting to see what transpired next.
Inside the school things were no better, the students were still falling to the madness that washed over the city. Teachers did what they could to subdue those who lost control of themselves from the madness while simultaneously evacuating others away from the source of the sound in an attempt to lessen the strain on their sanity. None had made it outside to help the students in front of the school because whenever one would try another problem would arise and take their attention. Hopefully the students closest to the source could hold out until someone could make it to help them, assuming they could actually help them.
Back outside the sight was wonderful, from the perspective of the creature at least. One student had tried to summon the courage or foolishness to attack it but sadly they were stopped by another. That was a shame as it was tasked with looking for students that had any promise. If none of them even attempted to stop it they weren’t of any interest to its master. One boy seemed to be going to get help from the school but that wasn’t concerning in the least. And it looked like another girl was falling quite nicely into the wave of madness that it had released.
Then there were a pair that weren’t holding up as well. A boy and girl who couldn’t handle the madness as well and ended up clutching their heads from the pain and falling to their knees. Of no interest to it the creature didn’t care about the students. If they didn’t make some sort of recovery soon they wouldn’t last much longer anyway.

Dante could hear his name being shouted at him. He didn’t immediately recognize the voice as it broke through the layer of madness clouding his mind, reaching him as a garbled mess of letters and vowels, sounding muffled and far away even if there wasn’t much distance between the Italian and his Meister. Though recognize her voice he did, the blonde ignored it, fixated only on the overwhelming need he had to hurt something, mainly the screeching monstrosity before them. He only managed one step forward before she reached him.
What did princess bossypants the third want from him now? It didn’t matter where they were or what they were doing, Tori was always ordering him to do something. She was worse than his sisters when it came to that! Dante do this, Dante do that, Dante we’re going this way! To make things worse now she was babbling nonsense. What the hell was she talking about, he felt stronger now than he ever had before, it was glorious! Maybe if he cut out her tongue she would shut up? Fortunately the maddened Dante wouldn’t get a chance to. As his Meister grabbed him around the waist, he cringed. The contact made a break in his minds turmoil but only for a second, a brief fighting moment of sanity before the sear of madness returned to him and he snarled at her,
“Lasciami andare, cane Britannico!”
If his Meister wasn’t going to shut up and let go of him, then he would find a way to make her. Even as she pulled his head down and forced her to look at him, his gaze was one of pure malice. She’d find nothing in those golden eyes than a desire to hurt, to spill blood. If she didn’t back off the blood on the ground would be hers rather than whatever that bird creature probably bled, if it even had blood. Her words meant nothing to Dante, he was barely listening. The madness worming around in his mind, whispering to him that he was better than her, that she would only drag him down. Well, that could be easily remedied with one quick cut-
SLAP!
Dante had to hand it to the tiny Brit, that slap to the face felt pretty close to what he imagined getting hit by a car must feel like. The blonde stood still and stunned for a moment, blinking once before a breath of pain escaped him and he bent, his left hand going to cup the side of his face that still stung red from where his Meister’s hand had connected with his skin,
“Figlio di una puttana cazzo amorevole!”
The Italian muttered a few more curses that his mother would likely faint at if she knew he’d said them, deactivated his partial form and letting his right hand return to normal. What…what had he been thinking? He hadn’t really been about to try and attack that shrieking nightmare, had he? But there were more pressing matters at the moment. Dante could feel the madness gnawing at him in the back of his thoughts, trying to overtake his mind again. Shaking his head trying to lessen it, he then looked to his Meister. He definitely owed her for this one. While attacking the thing seemed like a poor option still, if they could figure out a way to get it to stop screaming that alone would help the situation immensely. Giving Tori the most encouraging smile he could manage at the moment, pained though it may have appeared, Dante took his Meister’s hand and nodded,
“Sì, Tori. If we don’t work together, we aren’t going to be able to keep ourselves sane. Let’s do our best.”
A familiar blue glow enveloped Dante as he turned into his Weapon form. For the first time in a long time, he felt uneasy being in darkness. He could still feel the madness, and he didn’t know what would happen if it took him again while he was in the form of a rapier. But as Tori’s wavelength reached him, Dante felt less worried. Knowing that they were there for each other made him slightly more sure that maybe even a couple of NOT students like them could make it through something like this with only mild mental scarring. Hopefully.
Peering out at what he could, the bird creature was still visible. He heard the green haired kid yelling at Klaus to watch over them, but Dante couldn’t see the blonde Swede at the moment. He really hoped a teacher would show up soon. This was a mess, a total fiasco and he had no idea how he and Tori were going to help in the slightest apart from keeping each other sane. Wait, when had the other girl come over? Fairies? Dante didn’t know how this girl was reacting to madness, but it couldn’t be good if she thought Tori was some kinda fairy. He was almost scared to know what he may have looked like, granted he wasn’t much more than a talking sword at the moment. Maybe he and Tori could figure out a way to get her back into being sane somehow. They had to do something after all.

For a moment Tori was scared that he word and her slap didn't reach her weapon, but luck was on her side. She could just cry seeing her weapon come back from the brink of madness but now was not that time, and she wasn't really a crying type of girl. Things where getting worse the other two students that where there had dropped from the madness and it didn't look like help was coming any time soon.
She smiled as she felt the weight of her weapon fall into her hand. It was now or never for the girl as she opened her mind and her soul to her weapon for the first time. She couldn't keep up her bossiness right now, it just wasn't the time. She needed all the help she could get from her weapon just to keep her mind stable. She sure as hell wasn't going to let the madness take Dante again but she just wasn't sure about herself.
Tori turned to face the screaming thing only to be distracted by the other girl that was talking to her. Did she just ask if she was a fairy? Normally this would have been and insult to Tori. She was always told stories about the little folk and just how much of a pain they where. To Tori this could have been cause for getting a punch but it was clear to her that this girl was suffering from the madness and she didn't need her to get in her way.
The meister wanted to attack that thing but getting a better look at it and what it was doing to the other students she thought better of it. "You know what Dante now that my head is a little clearer I don't think it is best to go after that thing right now. I think we should try and help this girl that just called me a fairy. What do you think? Should I hit her?"
The last part of that question was meant to be a joke but she really didn't know what to do. This girl was between her and that thing near the school. Tori wasn't sure how she could help be she needed to do something. "Hey Dante I am going to try and snap this girl out of the madness. Stay in your weapon form just in case things go bad..." Tori got a little closer to the girl and spoke in a very calm voice. "Hey you have got to snap out of it! Don't let this things madness take you! You have to be strong then this!"

Running as fast as he could it didn’t take Dion long to reach the front doors of Shibusen. Along the way he couldn’t help but notice how his face kept twitching into a smirk accompanied by little convulses in his hands. The madness from that thing was hitting him harder and faster than he thought. On the plus side he now knew that his resistance to madness was shit poor, on the other hand now was not the best time to find that out. If things got too bad he wouldn’t have much of a chance at helping anyone. All the more reason to get a teacher as quickly as he could.
Reaching the doors Dion grabbed each handle but needed a moment to catch his breathe. He could feel the beads of sweat starting to form on his forehead but couldn’t pinpoint a cause. Sure he was wearing a hoodie and Tripp pants in Nevada but that was never a problem before. A mixture of the run to the school and the overwhelming madness was the most likely cause. Leaning against the doors for support he was going to open them and rush inside to get help but his body decided to stop listening to him.
Why was he doing this again? He needed to get a teacher to make sure everyone was safe. But why? Did it matter that everyone was safe? This was Shibusen after all. It was just one little intruder. If they were in any real danger the teachers would have already gotten out here. Maybe it was a test? Yes that could be it! Now what would running inside accomplish? Nothing! He needed to do something himself! No that was too much of a logical solution. Did it matter if he did anything? Wouldn’t it just be more fun to just fight it?
Yes! There was no point in bothering with the others if he could have his own fun. Maybe punching the thing would take care of it? It seemed like a good idea to him! If only Misaki was here so he could go into his full weapon form. No matter, he was going to deal with everything on his own. If any of the other students got in his way he could just deal with them easily enough. One punch with the pointy end of his partial form should deal quite nicely with anything here.
It was about that time when the screaming seemed to stop. It didn’t really stop, if anything it just grew louder and more painful. The pain however didn’t reach Dion as the overwhelming waves of madness flowed into him. His hands clenched the handles of the door tighter at the last remnants of his sanity attempted to cling onto something. His knuckles began to turn white as his grip began to cut off blood flow to his hands. It didn’t matter though, he couldn’t feel them. He couldn’t feel much of anything really. His whole body just seemed to be in a state of numbness with the only remaining sensation being a demented giddiness. One could almost say ecstasy.
In his madness induced euphoria numbness seemed to be the standard, almost like he was being peeled away from reality. His body felt numb and even a little cold now that he was in the shade of the building and rested from the run. Under his hoodie goose bumps were beginning to form on his arms near his wrist. Hearing was all but lost to him. A high-pitched droning was all that remained of the screaming and every other sound simply didn’t exist.
Dion continued to look at the ground and contemplate his actions as a sickly sweet taste spread through his mouth. His lips twitched as his mind raced over what was happening. Whatever was left of his sanity was screaming at him to snap out of it and that everything he was thinking was a terrible idea. But on the other hand the insanity just sounded so fucking fun! Hardly able to contain his excitement at the ideas he began to chuckle to himself while standing and holding onto the door.
The laughter stopped and his hands released their vice grip on the handles. Letting his arms fall to his side Dion’s face twitched once more before breaking into a full of shit eating grin. His hair ended up being knocked aside enough to part and fall between his eyes. Raising his head Dion simply stood there grinning as his eyes widened and looked up. The chuckle returning and growing louder until he stood with his head tilted back and was fully laughing from the madness. Everything just seemed so amusing he couldn’t help himself or restrain himself any longer.
Slowly he turned away from the door and back at the students and the creature. At least a part of his sanity remained, enough to tell him that most of the students were in a lower class than him. What was the point of killing a bunch of NOT class students? Seeing the definite one stars on the ground from the scream they were taken out. No, there wasn’t any fun to be had in attacking them. Now the creature was another matter entirely! It was menacing and screaming and unnatural. Perfect! Looking at the thing with his wide eyed grin and his head tilted to the side he tried to choke out a few words without falling into laughter, it wouldn’t be characteristic for him to just attack without some level of taunting involved.
”I’ll be killing you…now~”
Giggling at his own words Dion slowly started to turn around to face the creature. Breaking into a grin he took a step before running full speed at the thing. He couldn’t feel any exhaustion or pain so why not go all out? Running at it he flicked his wrist and entered his partial form while running. Looking straight at the cloaked monster he didn’t hesitate once he got close to pull his right arm back and throw a punch at it. His partial form in its extended state he launched the tip of the spear directly at the center of what seemed to be the monster’s chest. Not showing any fear to the thing he looked like this was all just a game and he was winning. What could possibly go wrong?

It seemed it had gone on ignoring everyone around it long enough. The whispers of how to deal with the thing failed to be productive. The gradually diminishing crowd had left all but one group of students: them. At the drop of a hat the strange being opened up, expelling a dark, viscous goo that splattered and sizzled on the ground. What came next was the stuff of nightmares.
Klaus watched anxiously, becoming startled when an impossibly massive set of jaws sprouted from the once dainty, gossamer-looking being. And from it came a painful, blood-curdling screech. It pervaded the entirety of the school, extending its infernal reach to the edges of Death City. It seemed as though nothing could escape its grasp. Klaus' heart rate elevated, taken by surprise by the scream's effects. Klaus' knees shook. The normally timid yet composed giant felt the very fibers of his being becoming slowly eroded by the madness. He was used to playing really loud music, but something like this was beyond that.
"What...what is this? Madness?" he thought to himself. His hands clamped over his ears in a futile attempt at blocking out the sound. Pain surged through his body, it seized up from it, but yet he refused to be brought down to his knees in front of his creature. He refused to cry out in pain. He found it nigh impossible to concentrate with the infernal din released by this creature. All he could think was that it needed to be stopped. This thing needed to be stopped, or perhaps the entire city would be lost to it. But what could he do? A Weapon alone could not hope to accomplish what Meister-Weapon team could.
By sheer force of will, Klaus slowly raised himself from almost being brought down on one knee. Unlike a few of his fellow students, Klaus was extremely stable both mentally and physically. He was not as susceptible to Madness as others, and could keep it from affecting him to the degree it had others. The pain was an illusion, that much was certain, and what needed to be done now was to rid them of this creature's presence. Klaus took after Dion, charging towards the being. His right arm had already manifested itself in a shield form. Once he came close enough, he planted his feet into the ground, cracking it and throwing up loose pieces as he aimed a series of monstrous jabs at the creature, the tip of his shield arm acting as a stabbing implement.

The air around the school was beginning to feel thicker as the madness saturated the area. Of course the focal point was the creature that was screaming with no visible intent to stop. If this continued the students may begin to suffer more disastrous consequences. Even inside the school some of the more susceptible students were beginning to choke on the madness and lose consciousness. Around the grounds outside the school bodies of students who did not run away fast enough could be seen on the ground, some locked clutching their heads even out of consciousness. The rare few even began to bleed from the madness, even if those few were the rare exception.
Among the gathered group it seemed the NOT students were faring well enough against the madness for the moment but how long would that last? Another wave of the insanity washed over them as the screaming continued. The wave flowed through everyone outside and managed to be the final blow that took out the barely holding on Natsuki. The madness proved to be too much for her body to take and she fell to the ground unconscious. A fate that could easily be shared by the other assembled students.
However an unintended side effect was how the madness hit Dion. The creature had expected all the students to simply succumb to insanity and lose function of their bodies. However a few were resisting better than others and it was impacting others differently. It did succeed in distracting the weapon from his mission of retrieving a teacher but had unintentionally caused the boy to set his sights on itself. Keeping a close eye on the boy it intended to avoid him and continue the mission it was given. Of course that was before it noticed other movement.
Another boy had managed to right himself after falling to the madness. So this was the power of Shibusen students? This was certainly interesting to the creature but it now found itself in a dilemma, it couldn’t dodge effectively while still screaming. Both the weapons attacked it from different angles and prevented it from quickly dodging the assault. Two pointed weapons were set to stab it if it did not react fast. The screaming continued as the cloak of the figure flared out and shimmered a bright red. Slowly the screaming seemed to recede from the area, only to concentrate on itself.
A barrier. A red barrier comprised of madness and sound formed around the creature as a last attempt at preventing itself from being attacked. The weapons hit the hexagonal shaped fixtures that made up the barrier and at that moment felt the impact of their actions. The screaming stopped at that moment and the concentrated madness flowed into them. Forming a tangible wavelength the barrier flowed into them like a soul purge made of pure madness. Energy shocking their body began to heat up as it continued to flow into them. Then at once the energy and the barrier broke.
With tremendous force shattered and redirected the energy. Not to their souls but to their bodies. The partial form that had been held by the barrier received the energy and was heated from it. The force of the barrier breaking also exploded outwards and sent the two flying backwards. There was a distinct difference between the two students and that was what decided their fates. Klaus who was larger was picked off his feel and hurled around nine feet back, landing on the solid flooring that made up the outside grounds of Shibusen.
Dion was not as fortunate. Being smaller and having put his entire body into the attack he was already unstable to begin with. The force lifted him slightly but only around eight feet off the ground. He was propelled back and smashed into the central line of the skull that rested outside the entrance to Shibusen. His body sliding down the spoke and falling into a sitting position, back against the spoke and head tilted down against his chest. With both the attacking weapons taken care of the creature hunched over and remained still. It didn’t seem to move, as if creating the barrier around itself had taken all of what was powering it.
This didn’t last long as the creature righted itself and looked at the chaos it had caused. Facing the school and ignoring the students it took another step before its mouth opened again. Not screaming like it had before the mouth only opened a little bit and addressed the building or whoever was inside it.
”Greetings Shibusen. I come with a message for you.”
Its voice was rough and seemed to be a pitched down version of the scream. With every time it opened its mouth a small amount of madness would flow out but it was nowhere near as bad as before. It remained still and spoke to the school in full, or anyone who would listen.

No shit it wasn’t a good idea to go after the giant shrieking bird creature! Dante found that fact quite obvious, but apparently his Meister had actually been considering attacking the thing. The Demon Rapier couldn’t help but heave a sigh of relief. He really didn’t want to even think about what would happen if they tried going up against that thing. Besides, Tori’s idea of snapping the girl who apparently thought she was a fairy at the moment out of her maddened state would likely be more helpful. Someone had to try and calm people down; it may as well be Dante and Tori, even if he did happen to be in his Weapon form at the moment,
“That may be a good idea, although hitting her at this point may be a bit extreme. Maybe just try talking to her?”
In case things go bad. That was how she put it, and Dante really hoped with all his heart that they wouldn’t have to wind up fighting another student that had been overtaken by madness. Dante could still feel it gnawing at the back of his mind. Tori’s wavelength was what kept him grounded, pushing at his as always with how bossy she was. While he usually paid no mind to it being so passive himself, the blonde actually made it a point to focus on it so that he wouldn’t let his mind wander into the madness again.
While Tori handled the maddened girl speaking to her, Dante happened to take a glance around to see as much as he could. Being held by Tori it wasn’t much, but he could just barely see that green haired kid. Didn’t he say he was going to get a teacher? What was he still doing-oh. Oh no. Dante barely caught the giggling over the screaming that continued to persist, but that was definitely what caught his attention. Oddly enough it wasn’t the creature he immediately thought of in terms of what the green haired kid may do,
“Uh, Tori? Not to interrupt, but you may want to take a few steps back.”
And then everything got ten times worse. Dante looked out from the darkness he currently dwelled in and watched in horror as the green haired kid and Klaus both charged straight at the thing. They were One Stars, they would fare better than Dante and Tori would have, but it still seemed like a terrible idea to Dante. They didn’t even know what the thing was! And, just as he thought, their attacks didn’t really go over too well. As the red barrier formed around the creature, Dante’s eyes widened,
“Santa Madre di Dio.”
The screaming stopped. Both Klaus and the green haired young man were thrown back, although the latter got the worst of t by far. Dante’s eyes followed Klaus, who was closer, as he flew back a good amount of space before landing. His gaze then shifted to the other just as the One Star slid down to land in a seated position. The screaming had stopped but this was still very, very bad. Dante peered up at Tori through the muted black that surrounded him,
“Tori, we have to go get a teacher! This just went from dangerous to dire, we need help!”
Oddly enough, Dante was far more uneasy with the creature being still than he had been when it was screaming. When it did move, he made it a point to keep an eye on it. Anything that looked remotely like an attack would result in him transforming, picking up Tori, and carting her off to the nearest enclosed space. Nothing of the sort happened though, in fact something he hadn’t expected proceeded to unfold. It was speaking. He voice was still unnatural and sounded wrong to Dante’s ears, and what it said was ominous considering what had just transpired. Dante took a deep breath,
“I’ve got a really bad feeling about this.”

Under the influence of the madness Dion was far from in the right mindset to be around the screaming creature. Spurred on to violence after his little quip directed toward the creature he began his run. Running as fast as he could at the thing he pulled back his fist with his partial form ready. Once he was close to his target Dion put all he had into the attack, his feet lifting of the ground as he gave a slight jump toward it. Surprise at the manifestation of the barrier would not come close to Dion’s thoughts, after his mind cleared of the madness.
His mind started to clear as soon as he hit the barrier. Yes his mind was foggy but he wasn’t in the same violence crazed state he had been in. The pain was the main agent of that. Feeling the wavelength of madness surge into him and directly impact his soul. Along with that was the wavelength flowing through his partial form and into his arm. Shocking pain escalated to burning within seconds and his partial form was the focal point for the energy. Feeling like his partial form and through extension his hand was on fire Dion opened his mouth in an attempt to scream but no sound escaped.
Just when he thought his arm was going to burst into flames the barrier broke. Dion didn’t have much time to think about this as his partial form deactivated and he was sent flying backwards. Unable to comprehend what was going on with his mind still foggy from the madness and the pain he wasn’t aware of much until he smashed into Shibusen. Upon impact with the skull Dion felt the breath get knocked from his lungs. Barely holding onto consciousness he could do nothing to prevent himself from sliding down before landing on the ground.
Head against his chest he took a breath before coughing. The impact and all things before hadn’t been too kind to his body and trying to cough it out did little to help. Settling down Dion sat with his back against the spoke of the skull and didn’t make any unimportant movements. After a moment of rest he was pretty sure he wasn’t going to simply die and tried to see what had happened. The fog of madness was clearing so he could at least think somewhat rationally about what was going on.
The first thing Dion noticed was the pounding headache he had, not too surprising considering he had just been fucking launched into the school. His back hurt but again that was also to be expected. Trying to move his arms he noticed that his entire body was some degree of sore and his right arm was by far the worst. On his knuckle he saw a nice circular burn back where his partial form appeared. Trying to manifest his partial ended with nothing, attempting a full transformation gave similar results. Seeing a splash of red on his pants he also came to realize that he was bleeding out of his mouth, wonderful.
Well he couldn’t transform or even go partial form, looked like he wasn’t going to be fighting the cloaked fucker in the foreseeable future. Making use of what energy he had Dion lifted his head back to lean against the skull so he could see what was going on. His hair back how it should be and a small line of blood making its way out of the left side of his mouth he looked back at the scene he had so abruptly left.
The cloaked thing had stopped screaming so that was a plus. Some other students were on the ground but he couldn’t make out who they were. A few were still standing so hopefully the NOT students hadn’t gotten taken out by that thing. With any luck that thing would leave soon or the others would get away before it did anything else. Dion couldn’t do anything and that was probably the only clear thought he had with the rest of his head swimming. If he had been stronger he might have been able to prevent this or at least done something better.
However now was not the time for self-pity. That would require more energy than Dion was able to expend at the moment. Mouth partially open with the blood leaking from it and his eyes half-lidded at best it was taking every last ounce of energy Dion had to remain conscious at the moment. All things aside he wasn’t going to pass out and give that thing the satisfaction of beating him, even if by any other account it had decimated him. No, Dion would stay awake until that thing was gone at the least. Until then he fully intended to stay where he was and watch what unfolded.
Under better circumstances he would have yelled for the other students to run away but that was unlikely to work in his favor. Based on how the rest of him felt talking in general wasn’t in the cards. So he was stuck being a silent observer to the scene, fan-fucking-tastic.
