A Strong Body
Picture: pending
Appearance: Ranger is a handsome rugged looking young man, easily distinguished by his cowboy style and a half-smirk he seems to always have. Ranger keeps his light brown hair fairly short and rather unkempt. He has stark blue eyes that always seem to be welcoming. He seems to have a perpetual five o’clock shadow. Ranger seems to always be smiling and laughing and has the beginnings of laugh lines forming near his eyes. Ranger’s outfits are all cowboy. He always wears a cowboy hat, no matter the weather or occasion, and owns several different kinds. He usually wears plain jeans with riding boots and button-down shirts. In addition he owns an old ragged duster, passed down from his great great grandfather, that he wears everywhere. During missions he often brings bandoleers and pistol belts as well to complete the outfit.
Height: 5’9”
Weight: 170
Fighting Style: Ranger is a crack shot with a pistol, but despite that fact he has a rather unorthodox fighting style for someone who uses a weapon that is primarily seen as used for ranged combat. He likes to get up close and use his pistol, rather than his fist, as a “striking” element in specially adapted versions of more orthodox martial arts. His movements might look like a skilled unarmed fighter, but he doesn’t rely on his own strength to bring down his opponents, instead relying on his gun to add the punch he himself couldn’t. If Ranger doesn’t have a pistol with him he uses a form of soft martial art, similar to Jui Jitsu, making use of throws and lock instead of striking. Given the option though he will open a fight with a few quick pot shots.
Personality: Ranger could best be described as a “good ol’ boy.” He grew up in the south and west of the U.S. and absorbed that culture and their idea of the ideal man. He’s quick witted, fun to be around, gregarious and talkative. He’s the kind of guy who starts up a conversation with a complete stranger while waiting in line to buy groceries. He is also an unapologetic flirt. Always a smile on his face he is often the life of the party without being a spot light hog. Ranger also has strong protective instincts. Growing up watching Spaghetti Westerns and cowboys movies, and surrounded by a culture that still believes in chivalry, he jumps in to defend people he has never even met if he thinks they’re being taken advantage of. He tries to exemplify the western hero archetype, however he has one flaw and that is for women. He can’t picture women as fighters and so tries to protect them, even if they don’t need it, and will insist they don’t fight, even if they’re more competent than he is. Ranger is also polite and respectful, to a point. He calls women he doesn’t know “ma’am” and men “sir”, even if he does know them he always refers to elders that way. He does his best not to curse and to always say please. Even in a fight it’s rare to hear Ranger curse and there has to be something really bad going on for him to curse. If an opponent submits he always offers mercy. Inside the Soul
Abilities: Soul Perception: Ranger has an eagle eye and his soul perception makes that even better. He uses it to set up ambushes, find enemies who are hiding, and scout. Gunslinger’s Spirit: Ranger has a wavelength that enhances his abilities with a pistol. Currently it’s rather undeveloped but it does make his soul wavelength attacks through a pistol more devastating than for a meister of comparable skill.

History: Ranger’s life before going to Shibusen could be considered normal for a child. He was born in Texas to John and Tessa Ranger. For the first few years of his life, until 5, they lived comfortably in a little town in Texas, his father was a professional gunsmith and made a good living. His father became a professional free-lance consultant for gun companies like Smith & Wessen, Ruger, and Colt and they started moving around, a lot. The rest of his life spent until now has been lived moving from all sorts of places in the south and west, spending most time in Montana, Texas, and Louisiana. He was homeschooled, rather poorly to be honest, by his parents but spent most of his time with his dad working on guns and learning to shoot. By age 6 he had fired his first gun, and at 8 was enrolled in his first shooting competition, he placed second. He spent the vast majority of his time shooting and helping his father build guns, mostly old revolvers and lever action rifles. He also learned martial arts, though not through a traditional means, he watched about as many kung-fu movies as westerns and imitated what he saw. Being the new kid in a lot of places also meant he got into more than his fair share of scuffs. Ranger was kind of small for his age, and not terribly strong, but he was very athletic and learned to use locks and throws to great effect. Later he started combining martial arts and gun fighting, purely to soothe his boredom during a long stay in rural Montana. This is also about the time he started spending more time with his mother because his father was particularly busy at the time. From his mother he learned a lot about the world and how to temper his cowboy passion with wisdom (though he still is a bit bull headed). His mother also told him he was a meister, it had always run in her family, her brother and father were both meisters. Ranger really wanted to go do something with his life, although he loved his dad and his work he didn’t want to do that for a living, he wanted something more action packed, so this seemed perfect! His mother promised him she would allow him to go to Shibusen but only once he had a high school education. So he studied hard, and his father fudged a few numbers, and he got his degree at 17 and bid a fond farewell to his parents and headed out to Nevada.
Extra Notes: Ranger speaks in a southern drawl. He is ¼ Apache Indian on his mother’s side.
