As far as typical mornings went, Klaus often preferred to go for a nice jog through various parts of the city and the forests. This morning would take him through the shopping district, just as the shops began to open and as the streets started filling up with people. It was also his way of better exploring Death City so that he would not get lost later. The prog metal playing through the earbuds helped to give him a...steady pace despite the strange rhythms/polyrhythms that were rampant in the music he liked. He played this sort of music on the guitar and drums often, and despite the complexity others saw in it, there was a surprisingly simple base behind it, one he could find readily.
The cool morning desert air of Nevada was a strange departure from what he was used to back in Sweden. Actually, it was a radical departure from the environment he was used to back home. The forests and beaches of Ängelholm were replaced by desert. He knew if he wanted to get any better, he had to suck it up and keep trooping on. That was exactly what he did. Though given the time of day, he was just about to wrap up his nice morning jog.
Passing down another street of vendors, he waved hello as his gigantic form thundered down past. He was working up a decent sweat while jump-starting his metabolism for the day. Klaus had a rather light class load for the day, so he was going to spend some time trying to look for a job...hopefully at the mechanic shop in the same area. The only thing he had to worry about was an interview. He was awfully timid around those he didn't know, though this went away with some coaxing. He hoped he wouldn't flub the interview though, as that was the kind of job he wanted.
Klaus took a left down an alleyway as a shortcut to the next street, which would lead him to another two streets that would bring him back to his apartment. He pulled out his MP3 player and looked at the time. He only had about a good half hour to an hour to shower, change, make breakfast, and go to class. While he was checking out the time, he failed to notice some crates stacked in the alleyway. It definitely wasn't easy to trip him up because of just how stable he was on his feet. But the sudden sound of splintering wood and the feeling brought on by coming into contact was enough to startle him and cause him to stumble a little...right out of the alleyway and into an increasingly busy street. He thought he was safe as he stopped himself, but a light thump against his side told him otherwise. He turned extremely red and looked down to whoever had just bumped into him and began to apologize profusely. "I'm s-sorry I'm s-sorry. I didn't m-mean to b-bump into y-you. I sh-should've watched w-where I w-was g-going."

Mei still hadn’t gotten out of her farm routine yet. Having been expected to work on the family farm since she was old enough to walk without stumbling about clumsily as most toddlers did, she was expected to rise and set with the sun. The Chinese girl still found herself waking up as early as four in the morning out of habit, which subsequently meant that she would stumble back into bed to rest soon after dinner in the evening. Thankfully she’d learned to go about her business quietly in the mornings as to avoid disturbing her two roommates. She wasn’t often hungry so early, and neither Natsuki or Bang would likely need food until they woke up much later, so she’d gotten into the habit of taking walks. Walking was a good way to learn the layout of Death City, a thing she wasn’t fully familiar with yet. Mei still wasn’t sure which street led where or what certain signs meant, but this was slowly becoming less true as she continued to wander each morning. It helped that the people around Death City were so nice. The handful of times she’d gotten lost amongst the crowds, she’d found help from strangers rather easily. A left turn here, a right turn a few blocks over and she was back on track thanks to their help. Mei was slowly getting used to living in a city. Still, she rather missed her old town and her family. Homesickness wasn’t something she as used to. Prior to going to Shibusen, the furthest away she’d ever been from home was Hong Kong and before that had just been the neighboring town. That was not a pleasant memory though. The Chinese girl shook the memory of hospital beds and sad faced nurses from her mind and continued on her way. As time marched on, though, more people had begun to crowd the streets which of course meant a tad more pushing and shoving. Mei did her best to maneuver her way around everyone; alas she still managed to bump into someone. Turning slightly red, she bowed and immediately apologized, “I-I am v-very s-sorry, I-I didn’t s-see you!”Wait a minute, something wasn’t quite right. Mei blinked a few times. Was there something on her glasses? Lifted her hands to her face, Mei realized that her glasses were no longer where they were supposed to be. Panicking, she quickly turned her gaze to the ground. Sadly the Chinese girl was so near sighted that even the near sidewalk was nothing but a blur of grey. Still, she tried to force her eyes to see what she was looking for. Trying to step carefully and lightly, Mei soon found them the hard way. Having heard the unmistakable crunch of breaking glass, her heart sank. Kneeling down carefully, Mei plucked her now destroyed glasses from under her shoe and sighed. This was just not her morning.

It seemed as if Klaus had run into a familiar acquaintance, the Chinese girl he had met not too long ago along with the other Italian fellow. Just as he had apologized, Mei too had apologized as well, bowing as she did so. Before he could stop himself, the Swede had also turned red. "N-no. It's okay. I-it's m-my fault r-really." he stuttered. Great. On top of running into her, he was making himself look more like an idiot. Way to make a good impression on someone he hardly knew on top of being kind of sweaty from all the jogging.
The sounds of something skittering across the sidewalk told him that this awkwardness would be the least of their problems. He had a feeling her vision was not too great from the glasses, but he had no idea they were this bad as she set off on the ill-fated quest to go retrieve them. A few seconds of staring at the ground and bumbling about and she had found her glasses. The only problem was that they were under her shoe in addition to more than just a few pieces lying around on the ground. Seeing what had just happened, he began to sweat again. "Oh nooooo..." he said as he drifted off into thought. Now he just felt terrible about the whole thing. He now felt that he was directly responsible for the poor girl's glasses falling from her face and breaking under her shoe.
"Th-this is bad...r-really b-bad... Uh...um...um..." he stuttered once again as he tried to figure out just how the heck he could help Mei out for his blunders. "What do I do? What do I do? What do I do?" he panicked in his mind. What seemed like an eternity of his thoughts on the consequences of his clumsiness and the ways he could make it up to her had only been just a few seconds. It was then a mental image on himself smacked him on the head. Idiot! You take her hand and find a place where she can get new glasses! Duh!"
Klaus blushed even more at that one thought. "H-her h-hand?" He shook his head to clear out the thoughts that were interfering with the problem at hand. He had to do something, and helping her with her glasses was in order. The thing was, he didn't know where there was an eyewear store, but by his own power he was going to find one for her. The giant looked down at the girl who was on her knees and staring at her ruined glasses. He gulped and reached down, holding his hand out for her so he could help her up, "I-I'm r-really sorry. M-maybe w-we can f-find a place to f-fix them? I-if not...m-maybe they c-can g-give you a n-new pair..." he said.

This was not at all a good thing. Mei had worn glasses since she was a preteen for the exact reason that she was blind as a bat without them. People were nothing but blobs of color, no features being distinguished whatsoever without the aid of prescription glass lenses. Sadly it had taken months of saving just to get enough to buy her that one pair. The glasses she wore daily were the only ones she had and Mei certainly did not have the money to buy new ones. Hearing Klaus claim the incident was his fault, Mei shook her head slowly and smiled sadly at the broken lenses in her hands,
“I-It i-is n-n-not your f-fault I a-am so c-clumsy.”
It truly wasn’t the blonde’s fault. Mei should have been looking where she was going and she should have stood still and let someone who could actually see locate her glasses along the sidewalk rather than daring move and mistakenly tread up on them as a result. She was so foolish sometimes, and currently Mei felt the only thing she really wanted to do was crawl in a hole somewhere and hide from the rest of the world for a while.
Still, she tried to think of a possible solution to the situation. She could always call home and tell her aunt what happened, but she doubted that her relatives had the money to send her new glasses. Then there was her cousin in Hong Kong. She would most certainly help, but that would take weeks and in the meantime Mei would be essentially blind as she waited. It seemed she was doomed regardless. Sighing, Mei resolved herself to the fact that she may indeed be nearly blind for a few weeks until she got new glasses somehow. Noticing a blur near to her, Mei squinted and her eyes focused just enough for her to barely make out the sight of a hand. Oh, right. She’d knelt down to pluck the wreckage of her glasses from her shoe. Blushing, the Chinese girl placed her hand in Klaus’ and slowly stood looking a bit somber. Hearing him suggest they look for somewhere her glasses could be fixed was almost enough to make her tear up. She knew he meant well, but she would never be able to afford it,
“I-I d-do not h-have the m-money to f-fix them. It t-took my a-aunt and uncle m-months to save enough f-for these.”
Mei appreciated that Klaus merely wanted to help, but she saw no easy solution. She would have to contact her cousin in Hong Kong at this rate, which would involve somehow getting back to her dorm and asking either bang or Natsuki to dial the phone for her since she wouldn't be able to see the numbers.
