Ishida Sai; Human
Name: Sai Ishida
Nickname: N/A
Age: 17
Gender: Male
Race: Meister
Position: Student
Class: One Star
Partner: N/A
A Strong Body
Picture:
Appearance: By all means Sai isn't a very tall Asian probably around the height of 5'9". Possibly tall in his own country, but in the United States, no. His short height is also packaged with a rather thin body structure. Though there are some lean muscle here and there from the accumulation of training... Which is meant for him to be made for speed. There is some arm muscle accumulated, but nothing too impressive. His quadriceps and thighs are a tad bigger than his arms in volume since after, they are made for speed. Which comes to mind that he may have a better sense for kicking.
Surprisingly, since he has been practicing his family's martial art, Sai's knuckles aren't completely riddled with calluses. Perhaps a few cuts here and there, but nothing all too worth noting. Though an exception is that his hands tend to have some dry skin patches at the wrists to the knuckles. His brown eyes are a common trait for most Asians though they go well with his bland and innocent-looking face which tends to let most people's guards down. Though recently he can't seem to see well in his left eye only. Cutting down his range of vision considerably.
Clothing-wise, he's very bland in a dark way at times. Normally he tends to take up a normal gray t-shirt and beige cargo shorts because of the hot weather in Death City. When sent into other countries at times, he wears completely dark attire to hide himself in the dark and make it harder for enemies to discern movements. Which also comes to Sai's bland dark hair style which seems as if to follow suit of his tendency of black.
Height: 5'9"
Weight: 150lbs
Fighting Style: Moves conservatively and efficiently as possible while all the while using his reflexes and speed about. His attacks consist of normal grappling and striking. But what is special about striking is that he utilizes the knowledge of acupuncture to quickly end a fight. His targets aren't limited to just acupuncture points.
Sai would not hesitate to go for more sensitive areas such as the groin and the eyes. Even breaking bones all the while with grappling in tow. Which all brings to note that Sai utilizes whatever he can. Especially using the terrain and such. These traits all come from the Ishida Style of ninjutsu. Being a style of ninjutsu itself, Sai has also some general idea of how to handle most weapons though never as close to mastering it ever.
Personality: Sai has been described as a calm individual with a tendency to note the most minute things in his environment and the people in front of him. But his calm demeanor gets him mistaken to be some sort of loner, when he really isn't. He holds a rather neutral stance of people at first though recently has a tendency to look negatively on them (Doesn't voice it directly). Besides that, he is rather blunt in what he states of others. Which in turn gains their animosity towards him generally.
He is noted to follow that state of calmness even in the most serious situations though at times showing an expression of trouble on his face when the going gets even tough. Sai under the doctrine of his family's martial art has generally taught him to show no mercy and take no chances of whatever happens. Which usually got him in trouble at school in fights. The teen isn't usually someone who goes around causing trouble or start fights, heavens no. Still, that doesn't keep him from getting into trouble when he gets ahead of himself. So because of this, he may be more influenced by the madness.
The last of all to note is his own perception of reality and opinions. Sai is rather an individual who, like many others, may fiercely defend his own opinions and such. Though what is interesting and conflicting is that when in the face of something conflicting of his beliefs and overshadows his ability to argue against it... He seems to have a tendency to tweak that conflict enough to add it into his reality/opinion. So more or less, he seems to have a steady balance in maintaining his stance unlike others. Which is probably linked to his upbringing...

History: To understand Sai, one must look through his family history. Ishidas were a family of mainly martial artists to begin with. They started off as a ninjutsu branch of the Koga Style once the Edo era settled on. With the battlefield being a totally unpredictable it's easy to see how they eventually got to learn some form of soul perception for detecting others and some acupuncture to increase their reservoir of medical abilities at the time. Seeing that the war time has passed, they again branched off into two more separate groups. The Ishidas that wanted to settle peacefully into the land while still practicing their roots. And another family still wanting to be on the shadowy battlefields. With that said, they never saw each other again after making agreements between each other with each taking separate knowledge of their styles.
Time passed and the ninjutsu the Ishidas started out with became something more than it is as newer martial arts made their way into the public. Gichin Funakoshi's Shotokan Karate found its way into the their ninjutsu. Eventually some parts of Chinese Kung fu while one member was sent to China as a soldier in World War 2. Soon as more martial arts boomed in the 70's, various others eventually molded themselves into what used to be a ninjutsu style into what is more or less just a hybrid art. Meaning more modern martial arts have found themselves into the style.
Now let's head back to the topic at hand. Ishida Sai entered the world like other children. The expectations are not as suffocating as it was before. After all, it is a peaceful era (Well not exactly with all the witches and Kishin eggs on the loose, but you get the idea). Expectations being gathering more other traits of martial arts to further the style more. So you could say that this family is primarily made to catalog the martial arts of the world in a sense. It has always been something every member of the family have been expected to follow.
Other than that, Sai grew up under a strict upbringing. Education was something that was barely equaling the family expectation since his father and mother more or less are employed in companies (Mother retired to care for him after giving birth). During those times, his Father primarily worked as a body guard for corporate bosses for the money though he works as a part-time editor for a newspaper articles owned by an old friend. It didn't take very long for Sai to grow and gradually take up the family traditions.
Despite the upbringing, it wasn't all too surprising Sai was involved in fights in school... Sometimes in the streets to protect himself. Regardless if his reasons were good ones, the blame has always been pinned on him mainly because of his excessive self defense. It's mainly because of this, his parents eventually found that normal school life may be a tad difficult for him after many attempts...
It seemed all hope was lost until an old friend of his parents (A Weapon there) introduced them to Shibusen and explained it might be best for Sai to attend. With this said, they gave a half-hearted approval about this academy and sent him there to attend... Hopefully changing for the better.
However before heading to Shibusen, he was hit in the eye by a fast ball from a pitcher when he was walking home. So he arrives the academy a tad crippled in any case. It's still a tad miraculous that he still retains some eyesight, though it's poor. Of course, with his Mother's urging... His Father was forced to press charges/sue against the pitcher, getting some money on the way...

RIDICULOUS
Was what would be in Sai’s thoughts if only he had the mental fortitude to do so. The sweltering heat was already forcing the teen to succumb towards to it as it seemed his skin and flesh has shriveled up to the utmost degree. He knew it was hot according to the information gathered through the net. But for Pete’s sakes, this hot? Sure the country of the Rising Sun was hot in the summers like any other country… That’s a given. But…
Nevada is hell on Earth
The endless immense amounts of sand surrounded him with the blue sky overseen with that same sun. Laughing with same-as-usual mere contempt of those under him… Started to slightly annoy him.
”W-water
” he gasped dryly and almost pathetically with his shriveled hand reaching for the canteen.
Why? Why on Earth didn’t the car arrive…? Sai’s memories penetrated deep inside the center of his psyche as if in reflex to cruelly remind him of the reason. The owner of that Honda Civic car sent an e-mail explaining that something went wrong with the engine as he sent it to a mechanic for some final retuning. Of course, an apology was given with a lowered cost.
This didn’t seem too bad. A simple walk wouldn’t be too bad along with the low cost… Why not?
Oh, the world just had to be so cruel.
And no bus? Well… To be quite frank, Sai is in fact, broke, in a sense. His parents are somewhat living a level of living that probably be permanently damaged from him going abroad for some time… Which means he had to be frugal and assign himself towards part-time jobs… Which comes to mind what the hell is his father doing with all that money he got from being a bodyguard…
With his hands on the canteen slung around his neck… Sai felt the low weight of the vessel and the lack of sloshing… Which could herald one thing…
He held the canteen to his lips and sipped… Water was a tad warm. Given with the high temperatures of the environment. A bit of despair speared through his young heart when the last drops of water disappeared down through his esophagus…
”…Shit,” he cursed in his mind, trying to keep himself from talking to prevent increasing thirst.
The teen simply dropped the metallic vessel back against his chest dangling freely as he continued to walk forward in the sand with a simple duffel bag in tow…

”….Huh?” escaped his lips back when he was sitting in the dining table with his parents with the chopstick almost reaching his mouth to transfer the small piece of meat.
”….What do you mean I’m going abroad to America…? I didn’t sign up to be an exchange student,” Sai inquired with a confused expression.
”We know,” he remembered Mother starting to explain first as usual and started to use his Father again, ”But your Father decided it’s probably… About time for you to look around the world…”
The explanation wasn’t enough with his face not changing accordingly.
”Look. Just shut up and go with it.”

A grimace entered his shriveled face from the memory. Damn Mom….
He sluggishly continued on in the midst of the sand… Until he viewed what looked like the city a distance away. A small lopsided smile spread with a mutter.
”Finally.”
With that image sent into his eyes… His brain interpreted it as a signal to move his body towards the city more vigorously…

Sai couldn’t help but groan and palm his face with his eyes seeing the ridiculous set of stairs he was seeing.
”…Are you f****** kidding me?”
His body almost slumped down to the sand at this. Even despite something like this wouldn’t be too taxing… Though succumbing against the heat had its toll on him… With a strained groan… Sai just simply trudged his way up… Only to pass out at the top, embracing a hot darkness…

”So you’re awake? remarked a female tone. The teen’s eyes opened to look upon a white ceiling greeting his awakening. He simply sat up to see a middle aged woman holding up a water bottle for him.
”It looks like it,” he answered with a grateful visage while chugging down the offering.
Oh…. Sweet nectar of life… Where have you been…?
”Shibusen.”
It wasn’t a question. A flat statement.
”Yeah,” a clarification response.
With a small smirk at this, ”You won’t last like that, kiddo.”
The remark didn’t sting. Maybe she’s right. Seeing that she lives here and all…
”I’m not used to hot weather,” he casually stated whilst finishing the last drops of hydrogen atoms combined with di-oxygen molecules, ”Thanks for the water, ma’am... I don’t have much mo---“
A raised hand stopped him mid way. A small sardonic smile grew on her visage.
”Forget it. I only did what any normal human would do…”
Sai stared at her with an expression of confusion… Soaking what just happened for almost a milli-second before nodding in understanding. He looked around to see he was within what looked like a simple town with mainly cobblestones in the streets and bricks with glasses for the buildings. With him sitting up, the teen could feel that he was sitting on a bench of some sort.
”I see. Well… I can’t simply impose you any longer… Have a good day, ma’am.”
A bow of gratitude was returned with a mere grin. That was their only good-byes towards each other.
___________________________________
”So… This is Shibusen, huh…?” he murmured to himself with his feet upon the last steps of stairs leading up to the academy with his duffel bag slung on his shoulder.
Unique is certainly one term to describe it. Rather, deathly unique is more accurate with the skulls and burning candles on the main front side of the facility… One would wonder if melted wax drips from them…
”Well… I guess I’m here then.”
With a short sigh… Ishida Sai simply took his first step onto the Shibusen ground into his new future ahead of him.

Okay so here we go~
Let's see I spotted a DWMA in your appearance. Looks like you might have noticed that we go by Shibusen before I got to it and replaced them all but that one. Sorry if this seems like I'm nitpicking but that would actually be Death City in the sentence there. Since the entire city is hot not just the school.
*coughs*
On to things that don't seem to be as nitpicky.
Fighting style. You keep mentioning about his family's martial art in other sections of the profile but neglect to mention it here. If that's the martial art his family uses then please state that. Just to clarify.
His soul perception should only be soul presence at this point in time. Later on with souls you can upgrade this.
His weaknesses look fine except its not balanced out with the Strengths. Madness is counted as a disadvantage because not every enemy they come across will drown them in it. So please consult this thread if you need any help finding one. You don't have to get rid of it though just have to get a third weakness.
Also you should add more into your history. Right now its mainly things about his family. Try to include how he got to Shibusen and how he discovered his soul perception. One would just simply show up to Shibusen without some knowledge about what type of student they'd be.

Okay. Thanks for putting up with my nitpickyness.
But okay. You didn't seem to understand what I meant when I said to change his soul perception to soul presence. Its still gonna be called soul perception no matter what. But the idea of what you having it doing right now is a bit too much to start out with. Just stick to it being able to sense the presence of souls and you can get it upgraded later on down the road.
Your weaknesses are good now. I was just curious why you changed his strength of Technique to Timing. What does this trait do for him cause I don't quite understand from the word by itself
And you seemed to have bypassed what I asked you to add to his history. Please add in how he got to Shibusen and how he discovered his soul perception. One wouldn't just simply show up to Shibusen without some knowledge about what type of student they'd be.

Sorry for the trouble. Changed the soul perception. About the timing in strength... I just felt like it really. The thing is, if timing is a strength (or the better it is), the person can catch the moment of advantage or opening an opponent reveals itself.
About how he got soul perception, it's been explained that his family martial art has that in its reservoir of skills if you look at the first paragraph of the history closely. And about how he got there and such... Made changes.
