Fratello was starting a new journey. It was worrisome, being away from Michael and Gina again. The times he had not been with them were never pleasant, and he could only imagine what would come out of the floorboards now to ruin his happiness. He realized quickly that sitting in his new home, brooding over the future, would do him no good at all. What better way to lift ones spirit than by food shopping! Doning his black jacket, he left the bedroom and entered the small living room/dining room.
Bianca was in her cage, door open, hanging upside down from one of her toys. As soon as she heard his door open, the feathers on her head flew up into that famous umbrella shape and she twisted her head to see him correctly. Carefully, she untangled her feet from the toys and climbed out of the cage and onto her stick. She stayed there, bouncing up and down and pacing slightly. The cockatoo knew him too well. Whenever he was in a sour mood, he would sit in his room for a while and then they'd leave and go for a walk or go shopping. She just loooooooved going outside!
As Fratello passed by the stick, he held his arm out to her. Like always, her jump was perfectly timed, as she landed without even a slight misstep on the soft fabric that covered his arm. She looked up at him and made a kissy sound, her feathers ruffling in excitement. He lifted his arm and gave the bird a quick peck on the beak before she climbed onto his shoulder and straightened some stray hairs on his head. She had gotten used to correcting little things like that, as he didn't pay much attention to the state of his hair. On some days, if Bianca knew she wouldn't be able to fix his disheveled mop, she wouldn't let him leave the house until he took a brush to it.
The walk to the market was less than eventful. Even Bianca had gotten bored with flying around and had come back to rest of Fratello's shoulder. Scanning the isles Fratello focused in on the fresh produce. Grabbing a basket, he went about choosing some good tomatoes and zucchini. Bianca jumped off his shoulder and flew over to the fresh herbs, nudging through them with her beak. Suddenly, an attendant ran over with a broom, staring at Bianca. Of course, animals weren't very clean, and around food, it was dangerous for people. Fratello had forgotten about that detail. Before he could say anything, the attendant swung the broom. In a moment of panic, Fratello's arm became that of a whisk and moved between the attendant and his bird. The broom bounced off the tines and was sent flying into a nearby shelf. It didn't do any damage, just knocked over a few cans. Bianca, by this time, had noticed what was happening and tucked herself away in Fratello's jacket. After the shock had passed for Fratello, his arm turned back to normal and he looked at the attendant.
"Um... sorry. Here's a tip?" Handing the attendant a $20, which the guy took slowly, still in shock, Fratello made his way to the door, leaving behind the fixings for dinner. He had attracted way too much attention. Practically everyone was staring at him. He kept walking until he reached an alley which he ducked into, "[You caused a lot of trouble, Bianca. I'm glad you're okay though.]"
For now, he wasn't sure what he'd do. Maybe he'd stay in the alley until they changed shifts, and then he'd go back... but when would that be? He felt his stomach grumble but ignored it for now. This had been one hell of a day.

Mei still had yet to really get into the swing of city life. Death City was unlike anything the Chinese girl had ever seen before having grown up in the countryside. She was determined to acquaint herself with the city layout, though, as it would be a terrible misfortune to become lost in such a big place. The thought of being a single person amidst such large crowds had been a bit daunting at first to Mei, but she was gradually getting used to it. The sound of cars being driven no longer kept her awake at night and she was slowly learning that it was indeed possible to walk through a crowd of people and not be nervous. On this particular day, Mei was visiting the grocery store again. Her roommate seemed to be in the habit of devouring every last morsel left in the fridge on a daily basis. Mei was fine doing the grocery shopping, cooking meals, and doing the dishes but she really hoped that Bang would learn to pace herself. Eating so much each day couldn’t possibly be good for her. It also made returning from school each day rather stressful for Mei. Returning the dorms only to find an empty fridge was always disheartening, plus it would mean another trip out. At least she would be able to practice reading English, and what better way than by reading food labels? Mei had managed to make her way through the isles without too much trouble. She’s only had to stop and ask what something was twice. This pleased her; it meant that her English was improving. If only her speaking skills were as good. The stutter didn’t really help either, but her shyness was to blame for that she supposed. While waiting in the check out line, something rather strange caught her attention. Why was that attendant swinging a broom at that poor boy? Had he stolen something? Mei then spotted the bird and the situation made a bit more sense. Still, it didn’t appear to be a bird that would be wild. In all likelihood it was a pet. The market Mei would go to with her sister Nuo back in China had animals present throughout, though, so she didn’t see what the big deal was. The spectacle became even more unexpected when the boy’s arm turned into …oh what was that word again? Whisk! Yes, that was it. A bit stunned herself, Mei didn’t notice the altercation was over until the boy ran from the store. She hoped he was okay. Paying for the groceries quickly, Mei hurried outside and looked around. She didn’t know him, but that didn’t mean she wasn’t allowed to worry. Having a broom swung at you wasn’t something she imagined would be a pleasant experience. Wandering by an alleyway, she spotted him hiding within, bird in toe. Timidly, she approached him, “P-pardon me. Wo, er, I s-saw you i-in the store. Y-you are o-okay?”

Fratello sat down on a box and pulled the white bird from his jacket where she had huddled in fear. It was expected that she'd be a little distressed from having something swung at her. He gently pet the feather a top her head, making a note to give her something special when they got home. A cookie or something. She loved rosemary cookies. Ah, wait... he didn't have the ingredients, and he probably would have to wait a while to go back into the store.
“P-pardon me. Wo, er, I s-saw you i-in the store. Y-you are o-okay?”
A girls voice? He hadn't meant to, but hearing it so suddenly made him flinch slightly. Someone following was completely unexpected, and he had really hoped that not too many people had noticed. It was interesting though, it seemed English wasn't her first language.
"Haha, you saw that?" He rubbed the back of his head, letting out a half hearted chuckle. It was rather embarrassing, "Though... yes, I'm fine. Thanks for your concern. I'm really more worried about Bianca."
The white cockatoos feathers were puffed up and her eyes were wide and blinking more than usual. She had never been the target of aggression, and even just the emotions of someone wanting to hurt would scare her. actually seeing it happen just added to it. Carefully, he brought the bird to his chest and tried to flatten the puffed up feathers, rubbing between her wings and all the places he knew she loved. Little sounds came from the bird as if she was trying to talk.
"I really should have been more careful. I'm not used to this place yet, and the no pets sign... I ignored it cause I knew Bianca would behave." He glanced up at the girl and gave a half hearted smile that didn't at all translate to his eyes, "I'm Fratello. Nice to meet you."

Mei hadn’t meant to startle the poor fellow, but she supposed she was fairly quiet. She hoped that he’d understood her. English failed her sometimes, and she knew that when she was nervous she could lapse in and out of Chinese without really realizing it. At least he was alright, but it seemed the bird was a bit shaken up from the experience. Mei cast a worried look at the poor creature. How terrifying it must have been. She couldn’t imagine being such a small creature and then having something like a broom being swung at them. It must have been horrible for the small bird,
“S-she looks s-so scared, qiong shiwu.”
Mei had only ever interacted with chickens before. This was no chicken, but she’d seen them scared by the neighbor dogs enough times to know that this bird, now known as Bianca, was quite afraid. She wished there was something she could do but she wasn’t sure there was anything within her power to make the situation better. The boy drew the bird closer and attempted to comfort the poor thing. Mei could hear Bianca making noise, and she hoped that meant the bird was becoming calmer. Mei felt just awful for the two. Apparently she wasn’t the only one not used to Death City yet. The boy smiled at her a bit as he introduced himself. Mei smiled shyly and bowed,
“I a-am Yin Mei Fu. I-it is nice to m-meet you.”
Straightening up, an idea came to her. Tilting her head at Fratello Mei asked,
“Qing wen…erm, do y-you think f-food may c-calm her? Wo, er, I-I have a f-few things i-in my bag.”
Mei ha just come from the store after all. She wasn’t sure if she had bought anything that Bianca could like but she thought it polite to at least offer. She knew that back home they had given the chickens seeds to eat along whatever else they found lying around, but she figured that as a pet the bird probably had a more refined palette. Still, she would be willing to root through the bag of various food items to see if there was anything within that may calm the upset creature.

It had only been a week since Klaus had moved in. The Swedish giant had yet to become fully acclimated to city life as he was used to the much more open, suburban Ängelholm back in his homeland, but he was going to have to adapt to this new life, one way or another. He was rather fortunate to have a new job as a mechanic to help make ends meet, as well as his mother sending over an allowance to help him along. He still had to get used to living alone for the most part in this new apartment.
Part of living away from home of course was having to buy necessities by himself. In order to keep such a massive person like Klaus running and well-maintained, he had to consume a massive amount of food. Every week he had to visit the grocery store to buy the food and ingredients he needed in bulk. Fortunately the grocery store owner had been around the first time he tried lug the massive number of bags of groceries out of the store and had given him a large dolly to put everything on in large cardboard boxes.
After piling all the things he needed carefully into the cardboard boxes and putting them on the dolly, he went to the check out lanes, where he would spend a lot of time scanning all of the food he gathered, much to the annoyance of everyone behind him. Pretending not to pay attention to them, he hurriedly scanned the rest of his stuff, piled it back in, and exited the store. It was at this same time a whole lot of commotion erupted at a nearby store. Whatever was happening, someone had left in a hurry. It looked to him as if there was an avian pet huddled in his jacket. He seemed to be checking on it to see if it was okay. At the same time another person had gone up to him, apparently asking if everything was alright or not. The two of them looked as though they were the same age.
Klaus, wondering if they were okay, timidly walked towards them. His extremely tall frame increasingly dwarfing them as he got closer until he was standing next to them. "U-um...There was a-a lot of noise j-just now. Are y-you both okay?" Klaus said softly, too shy to make any direct eye contact. He glanced down at the cockatoo to try and get a better look. Realizing that his dolly was partially obstructing the small path through the marketplace, he pulled it closer to him.

Fratello watched the girl from under his mop of hair. Her shy attitude was rather adorable and endearing. In fact, she reminded him of Gina, his adopted little sister. When meeting a new person, or someone she wasn't comfortable with yet, she would speak quietly or hide behind someone. Though, with another look, she became a little more than adorable or endearing. She was cute. He looked away from her as soon as he realized that his mind was going in the wrong direction for the situation.
“I a-am Yin Mei Fu. I-it is nice to m-meet you.”
Chinese. He knew he recognized her accent and that one thing she said earlier. Of course, he had no clue what she had said then, "Yin Mei Fu? Is your family name Yin or Fu? I know the family name sometimes goes in front." He was still avoiding looking at her, "C... could I call you Mei?"
At the mention of food, Bianca perked up and looked at Mei, her umbrella feathers standing up in excitement. Food always made her feel better, and the promise of such things could bring her from the brink of death. At least, that's how it seemed. The white cockatoo flew from Fratello's lap and landed of Mei's shoulder, clicked and whistling cheerfully. Fratello stoof up and lifted his hand apologetically, walking closer to her, "Sorry, sorry. She's such a brat. You don't need to go out of your way."
Suddenly, a large man came into view. Fratello's heart jumped and he could only imagine that this was some kind of undercover security guard that had seen what happened. Instinctively, he stepped in a way that put him next to, and slightly in front of Mei. If the man made any aggressive moves, he was in the position to make sure Mei could get away. It was protective instinct after spending so much time with Gina. However, it seemed that Fratello had moved a little quickly in his head. The man seemed quite gentle and only concerned.
"U-um...There was a-a lot of noise j-just now. Are y-you both okay?"
So he had attracted more attention. That was becoming troublesome. Now he had to deal with figuring out how to interact with two strangers, "It was my fault, sorry for the noise. I hope it wasn't too much of an inconvenience."
A wave of pride swept through Fratello, followed by panic. He had handled that quite well, but what comes up comes down, right? Would he screw up saying something and offend someone. His fingers twitched and he tried to stay calm, feeling droplets of sweat meander their way down his temple. It itched and it was all he could focus on. There was no telling what would happen if he offended the big guy. He might look gentle, but so did lions when they were basking in the sun.
Say something... quickly...
"You're quite large."
Smooth.
"Mi scuso! Non è quello che intendevo dire, IO sono nervoso." (I apologize! That's not what I wanted to say, I'm nervous.)
Aaaaand there we go. Forgetting english already. He felt a little dizzy, and his face was hot with a blush, and wasn't sure what to do at this point. English had escaped him. Bianca let out a few concerned chirps, but stayed on Mei's shoulder. Landing on his shoulder could freak him out a little.

Mei tilted her head a bit when Fratello looked away from her. Had she offended him in some way? She certainly hoped not. Ah, perhaps the name confusion was embarrassing him. Mei decided to pick that thought run with it. Curse her stuttering awkwardness. She never could form a full word around boys. Smiling shyly at his questions she replied as best she could,
“Y-Yin is m-my f-family name, yes.”
She giggled some at his inquiry as to whether or not to call her Mei,
“C-certainly. M-Mei or Mei Fu w-would b-be accurate.”
It seemed her suggestion of something to snack on made the little bird perk up almost instantly. Bianca even flew over to Mei’s shoulder. The Chinese girl was mildly surprised, but saw no reason to be scared. The poor thing may only be hungry for all she knew. Mei smiled at the bird as she whistled. She shook her head at Fratello as he apologized,
“I-it’s fine. I-I d-don’t mind. Ta de, erm, such a p-pretty bird a-and i-if it m-makes her f-feel better…”
Mei didn’t finish her sentence. She was sure to lapse even more into Chinese if she kept going, and her stutter was only getting worse. Mei was a bit confused when Fratello stepped before her but then saw that rather a large young man had also been alerted by the commotion in the store. She supposed that Fratello sought to shield her should the giant turned out to be a thug, not that Mei couldn’t handle herself. Then again, she supposed he couldn’t know that she knew enough Kung Fu to easily break someone’s arm, not that she would dare think of doing such a thing unless absolutely necessary. However, the boy seemed rather embarrassed at his mistake. The blonde seemed a gentle giant, stuttering just as Mei did if a bit less.
Poor Fratello managed to apologize once again, but became rather tense. So all three of them were awkward now, it seemed, not just Mei. She could here her family’s traditional mindset screaming in the back of her head. Not just one boy now, but two. Her aunt was having a seizure right about now, she just knew it. Turning slightly red, Mei shuffled awkwardly a few inches back from Fratello. Being in such close proximity with someone she had just met was highly improper particularly since he was also male. Mei giggled at Fratello’s attempt at conversation though. She couldn’t help it. Not that she would have done much better.
It did surprise her a bit when Fratello lapsed into another language entirely. Blinking in surprise, Mei honestly hadn’t expected that. He didn’t stutter or have a mild accent like she did. He was clearly very upset by how red his face was turning. Feeling bad for the poor boy, Mei lightly placed a hand on his shoulder,
“Qing lengjing xialai. C-calm d-down, F-Fratello. Zhe jiang shi zhengchan de.” ((Please calm down. It will be alright.))
The Chinese was more to make Fratello feel less awkward about failing at English than her nervousness. Besides, it meant speaking without a stutter for a moment and for once being sure of what she was saying. While Fratello likely had no idea she was attempting to comfort him, she thought it was polite to at least try. Looking at the newcomer, Mei waved shyly,
“Ni hao. I-I am Mei. Qing wen, w-what a-are you c-called?”

It seemed as though the man's pet bird was okay. Whatever the Asian girl said, it worked since the bird had calmed down and perched on her shoulder. Klaus became extra nervous when the man with the bird stepped in front of the girl as if he was going to protect her. This sort of thing happened to him in the past, and no matter how many times it did, he had never gotten used to it. Though he didn't flinch from the defensive display, he did hesitate for a second. He could understand where this man was coming from. Other people would certainly be on their guard if a giant suddenly appeared out of nowhere. However monstrous and imposing he appeared to the others, this was often mitigated by his timidness and soft-spokenness. Despite this he had a slight but noticeable Swedish accent. This had really turned into a Multi-National Gathering of Awkward.
"It was my fault, sorry for the noise. I hope it wasn't too much of an inconvenience," the Italian said before hesitating for a second, apparently thinking of something to say. "You're quite large." After realizing what he had just said, he hilarious burst into a babble of Italian in an attempt to apologize for what he said, "Mi scuso! Non è quello che intendevo dire, IO sono nervoso."
Of course, knowing nothing else but Swedish, English, and bits of other Scandinavian languages, Klaus tilted his head to the side in confusion. This sudden and unfortunate breakdown in communication really didn't help with the already tense situation from his sudden appearance. To make matters worse, the Asian girl had also lapsed into another language; Chinese. "Qing lengjing xialai. C-calm d-down, F-Fratello. Zhe jiang shi zhengchan de."
"Varför är alla tala ett annat språk? Vänta... Varför jag gör det också?" (Why is everyone speaking in a different language? Wait...Why I'm doing it too?)
Klaus said to himself. Somehow, lapsing into mother tongues had suddenly become infectious. When all seemed to be spiraling out of control, the Chinese girl spoke to him "Ni hao. I-I am Mei. Qing wen, w-what a-are you c-called?"
This is the first time a girl had spoken to him first. His life back in Sweden was rather lonely as most people were afraid to start a conversation with him. If only they hadn't based their assumptions on first impressions. As awkward and uncomfortable things had already gotten for him, the Swede began to blush as he answered back, the stutter becoming stronger this time around, "I-I'm N-Niklas. Niklas Alexandersson. B-but y-you guys c-can call m-me K-Klaus. It's v-very n-nice to m-meet y-you." He fidgeted around a little in shyness and discomfort, trying to calm down his nerves before looking to the other man, "W-what about y-you?"

This was becoming too much. Fratello was now contemplating running for the hills. He knew Bianca would surely follow. Just as he felt like he would lose it, a hand on his shoulder and words that he didn't understand chained him back to sanity. The girl, Mei, had mixed English and Chinese, and even though he couldn't understand the Chinese, her voice was comforting. He was reminded of little Gina again.
Making a mental note to possibly pursue learning Chinese, Fratello fought against instinct to stay put and continue interacting. However, it seemed that the blonde one had also lost English for the moment. Where was a universal translator when you needed one?
Not surprising, Mei was the first one to take command of the language again, starting a proper conversation. This was turning out to be an interesting day for sure. Listening to them gave him back a little confidence, as well as control of his tongue again.
"Fratello." When asked his name, this was his basic answer. It wasn't his true name, nor a full-sounding name like the other two had given. He wondered for a moment if it looked suspicious that he was offering a much smaller amount of information.
Not to forget his wonderful companion, he glanced back at Mei and Bianca and pointed to the bird, "That's Bianca." The pretty bird took a bow, half spreading her wings and lifting her umbrella feathers. She was a show off and she loved it.
Now that things seemed to be cooling down in the tension department, Fratello once again realized the reason he was even in this area. A loud gurgling noise came from his stomach. He really wanted to avoid going back into the store... maybe a cafe was around? What he wouldn't give for an expresso right now.
"I'm not used to a lot of people, please forgive my unseemly behavior." The apology was aimed at both Mei and Klaus, "Would we be able to find a quick place to eat? My treat."

Mei was glad that everyone seemed to be calming down. Unfortunately, they all still seemed to be a bi awkward with each other. She was just glad that for once she wasn’t the only one stuttering and stumbling over her words and acting nervous. Mei removed her hand from Fratello’s shoulder and bowed to the blonde boy now known as Klaus,
“I-it’s n-nice to m-meet you.”
Mei smiled a bit when Fratello finally began speaking again. She would imagine that he’d merely felt intimidated. True, Klaus was a giant, especially compared to Mei, but there was no reason to be afraid. It wasn’t like he was threatening to mug them or anything. As Bianca was mentioned, the bird became mobile once again. Mei glanced at the bird on her shoulder and giggled. She was rather adorable. It was rather uplifted, how jolly the small creature was. It made Mei happy to see the bird feeing better after seeing how frightened she’d been only moments ago.
Hearing Fratello’s stomach growl, Mei tilted her head to one side. If he was hungry, she could certainly prepare them something. The only trouble was that going back to her dorm meant likely encountering Bang. While she found her roommate rather…endearing in her daily excitement over everything, she feared the two boys may be a bit overwhelmed by her presence. Mei would also never dream of imposing on them in order to use a kitchen. These reasons combined made Mei keep her mouth shut. Then again, there had to me some sort of eating establishment around. While Mei herself wasn’t particularly hungry, there weren’t any groceries she’d bought that would spoil should she decide to go gallivanting about with her new acquaintances.
At the apology, Mei became a bit flustered. Why was he apologizing? Sure, he’d jumped to conclusions a bit hastily, but it was nothing to be sorry over. Mei waved her hands in front of her and turned a bit red,
“N-N-No, it i-is fine, I-I understand.”
The Chinese girl nodded at the proposition they find food though,
“W-we could. I-If t-that is t-too much t-trouble, I-I c-could also m-make s-something.”

“I-it’s n-nice to m-meet you.” said the girl
Klaus smiled and blushed a little again. He still wasn't that used to talking to girls, and this was something he wanted to get over quickly. He breathed deeply to calm himself down. Conveniently enough, things seemed to be calming down a bit for the other two as well. The little moment of all the awkward and sudden multi-lingual explosion was perhaps the strangest thing that had happened to Klaus today...in this strange place called Death City. The Swede chuckled nervously.
Whatever small crowd had gathered because of the incident in the shop had long since dispersed. It was just the three of them now. The other person introduced himself as Fratello, and his pet cockatoo was named Bianca. The bird herself seemed quite happy and cheerful after whatever harrowing incident had befallen the two in the shop. "B-Bianca's a w-wonderful bird." Klaus complimented. The giant had a soft spot for all sorts of other animals, and seeing her happy and showing off made him feel better about the whole situation.
It was then Fratello's stomach made a rather audible growl. Come to think of it, it was about time for lunch anyway. Klaus looked over to the massive load of groceries that would last him for a while. He wasn't certain how long some of the things he had in there would last being unrefrigerated, but then again if anything had spoiled he would have to depend on his stomach of steel to handle it...or just toss it away like a normal person. Either way, the boy had suggested finding a nice place to get something to eat. "T-that would be n-nice." Klaus smiled weakly.
"W-we could. I-If t-that is t-too much t-trouble, I-I c-could also m-make s-something.” Mei suggested. Klaus thought about it a little. He wondered how good the food she made was, and then thought about what he could make as well. The Swede was used to eating basic meals. It was mostly just a lot of protein and veggies combined with less carbs. Klaus wasn't good at making anything fancy.
"T-that would be n-nice t-too," he said. Klaus looked back at Fratello, waiting for the final decision. He would be fine with either one, it was good enough that he had made more new friends after having moved a great distance to an unfamiliar country.

Hearing a compliment from the bigger person, Bianca fluffed her feathers and tried to make herself as pretty as possible. She had the ego to match Elvis.
The discussion quickly focused on food as the group tried to decide on where to go. Mei suggested something that sounded very nice.
“W-we could. I-If t-that is t-too much t-trouble, I-I c-could also m-make s-something.”
Make something? Fratello began seeing images of all the dishes he could make if friends came over. He felt himself begin to drool. However, a couple of words echoed through his mind. It was Michaels voice and one of the last things he said before sending Fratello off to school.
"Find a bella that can cook. If she makes good food, you will be happy for the rest of your life.
Fratello's face took on the hue of a tomato, "I-I wouldn't want to p-put y-you through that trouble." He cleared his throat and willed the massive blush to go away, though, it didn't obey completely, "Though, my place i-is close by. I can make lunch and you guys can store our groceries so they won't go bad or be a hassle to carry around.
"Mei, if you'd like to help me, I'd appreciate it, but it wouldn't be my treat if I let you do all the work." He tried to look at her, but it was turning out to be difficult. Stupid Michael and his italian curses. Mei probably already had a boyfriend, hell, she's was probably already engaged, "I do need to run back in there though... just for a few things. What did you guys want for lunch? Any allergies or things you don't like at all?"
Looking to Klaus, he rubbed the back of his head, "Would you mind keeping an eye on Bianca? I'd like Mei's help choosing things for lunch."

Mei watched Bianca fluff out her feathers even more and giggled at her antics. Such an adorable creature. Looking back over to Fratello and saw that his face was very red. Mei tilted her head, just a bit concerned. It could be a blush but it could also be a fever. Taking a timid step forward Mei decided to ask if he was feeling alright,
“F-Fratello y-your face i-is red. D-do you f-feel o-okay?”
Mei’s concern over the young man’s health wasn’t all that strange, really. Considering she’d lost both of her parents to illness when she was rather young it was a habit of hers to look out for others she knew and be sure they were well. If Fratello wasn’t feeling well he should go home and rest, possibly even see a doctor. As he went on speaking, though, Mei assumed he was fine and that she was just worrying too much again. Hearing Fratello’s suggestions, Mei nodded in agreement. It would be rather convenient to be able to store their groceries somewhere after all.
He wenton to say that while she was certainly welcome to help him cook that would take the whole treat part out of it. Mei wasn’t certain still what he meant by ‘treat’ but she assumed it was similar if not synonymous with buying food for her and Klaus. Mei smiled and shook her head,
“O-of course, I-I’d be d-d-delighted to h-help!”
It was in her nature to help, after all. It had been taught to her early on to help other if they asked or needed it. On a farm it was essential that she and her younger sister and cousins work together to get things done. Mei wondered how Nuo was doing for a brief moment, but not for long. She did not need to begin yearning for hearth and home right now, it would be counterproductive. Hearing more questions from Fratello, the Chinese girl shoved thoughts of her family to the back of her mind,
“I-I have n-no allergies. I-I’m sure w-whatever f-food you h-have in m-mind will b-be w-wonderful.”

Fratello's pet reacted quite positively to Klaus' compliment, giving a little show of bravado in gratitude. While they were waiting to decide on whether or not they should go make lunch or just find a nice cafe, Fratello appeared to turn quite red.
"I-I wouldn't want to p-put y-you through that trouble." He seemed to calm down just a little bit as the blushing began to disappear. "Though, my place i-is close by. I can make lunch and you guys can store our groceries so they won't go bad or be a hassle to carry around. Mei, if you'd like to help me, I'd appreciate it, but it wouldn't be my treat if I let you do all the work. I do need to run back in there though... just for a few things. What did you guys want for lunch? Any allergies or things you don't like at all?" Even Klaus, who was quite obviously socially-awkward had a feeling Fratello was blushing . Hell, he had just done the same thing as well.
"I-I'm don't have a-allergies either. T-though, I could s-save y-you the trouble and l-let you use s-some of w-what I have." Klaus offered as he pointed behind him to the mountain of groceries that made it seem like he was hoarding food for a nuclear apocalypse. "I b-bought a lot of i-ingredients and s-stuff. I'm s-sure there's a l-lot of things you c-could use." Klaus didn't mind if they used some of the food ingredients he had bought for himself. Even for him this mountain would last him at least a month before he had to make another grocery run. It was the least he could do for his new friends.
For a split second he thought of the shopping trips he would always accompany his mother on up until he discovered that he was a weapon. His seemingly superhuman strength allowed just the two of them to always buy food in bulk without the need of a car, which in the end saved them a lot of money. Klaus wondered how she was doing now that he had moved to America. He also wondered how his father was doing. The life of a fisherman was not an easy one. There were lots of dangers associated it. But if he had the Weapon Gene that had been passed on to him, he was sure he would be able to survive. He blinked hard, trying to get his mind away from homesickness. [/blockquote][/color]
