Well, this was it. Lior’s first day of school at Shibusen had arrived rather quicker than she’d originally anticipated. She’d gotten so caught up in moving from Illinois to Nevada that she’d completely lost track of time. She’d barely gotten settled in her new home and already she was homesick. It wasn’t as terrible as she’d originally thought, she had Abigail and the other maids to keep her company. Lior still missed her family, though, mainly her mother. Climbing the steps to Shibusen with her parasol held steady over her head to shield her from the harmful rays of the sun, she wished her mother was walking with her. It was a childish thought, one she had hoped to avoid but there it was. She hated doing things on her own, and as the doors to the school finally came into view a feeling of pure unease settled itself in her gut. She’d left the house confident enough. Lior had been smiling and there had even been a small skip in her step. However the closer to Shibusen she got, the more worried she became and now any confidence she’d had even ten minutes ago had disappeared into thin air. It was going to be just like everywhere else new she’d been too. People were going to stare at her, whisper to their friends about how odd she was, make cutting remarks, she just knew it. Nowhere was different, it was always the same. Pausing outside the doors leading inside her new school, Lior stared at them with an expression that would make any bystander think she were staring upon the entrance to hell itself. In a sense, this was hell to her. A school crowded with gifted students, and then there was Lior who would stick out like a sore thumb due to albinism. Taking a deep breath, the albino girl folded up her parasol and entered the school, trying her best to squash the distinct feeling of anxiousness that was all too familiar to her. It was starting to make her feel sick the way it twisted her stomach around in knots. The moment Lior was inside of the school she had the distinct urge to run to the nearest bathroom and hide there for the rest of the day. But it was too late for hiding now; she may as well go to class. This thought was even more daunting to her. A classroom full of her peers, all staring at her from the corners of their eyes when they thought she wasn’t looking. Maybe if she put a bag over her head and cut out eyeholes so she could see, the day would be easier. No that wouldn’t do, her hands and legs would still be visible. Ah well, it was an idea at least. Reaching the classroom was fairly easy. Lior walked quickly and kept her head down in the hallways, avoiding any and all eye contact while trying not to bump into anyone. She once again found herself pausing outside the door, though. Maybe she could tell the teacher she felt sick, run to the nurse’s and stay there until class was over and then just go home. No she couldn’t do that; Abigail would never let her hear the end of it if she did that. She couldn’t run, no matter how badly she wanted to. Taking a deep breath, Lior tried to calm her nerves. It didn’t help, but it had been worth a shot. Her hand shook as she opened the door and timidly wandered inside. Sticking to the wall like glue, Lior made her way around the edges of the classroom quickly and silently. Already she could feel people staring at her, although if they really were she couldn’t tell. To her, everybody was staring at her and judging her and thinking her a freak of nature at all times. With her eyes fixed on the floor, she took the first seat she came to and put her head down, hiding her face in the front of her school bag. She would not cry, not in front of a classroom full of new people, but she could feel her eyes welling up already. She truly hated this.

This was where it ended, Rhett was going to die. Not only was it way too hot to do anything but there were a bajillion stairs leading up to the school. It had taken him so long to climb them he wasn’t sure if he was close to the top or not. Nearly every few minutes he would have to stop to take a breath and a puff from his inhaler, not the best way to start his first day of school. Gasping for air he climbed the next gauntlet of stairs and was surprised to see them come to an end with the school in front of him.
Wiping the sweat from his forehead Rhett sat on the edge of the stairs and pulled out his inhaler. Looking out into the city he took a deep drag of his inhaler and returned it to his pocket. Now that he could maintain a steady breathing pattern he relaxed and enjoyed the view. Sure he may be late but it was his first day and after climbing those stairs he deserved some kind of break. He had to admit that the city looked pretty awesome from this spot, even if he wasn’t terribly fond of the desert that surrounded it.
Experiencing the heat of Nevada first-hand Rhett made a mental note to not wear his modified school uniform very often. He figured he should wear it and look nice for his first day but t-shirts and jeans sounded much more tolerable now that he was here. Standing up he thought back to what class he was supposed to be looking for and turned to enter the halls of Shibusen. More walking it would seem but at least this was on an even plane and not an uphill tread like on the stairs.
Having gotten information about the layout of the school beforehand it didn’t take him very long to find his designated classroom. Opening the door he took a quick look around the room to get an idea of who was in the class. Committing all the faces to memory he walked over to an empty seat and slouched down, laying over the desk with his head down on it and his arms dangling over the edge. He didn’t seem to be terribly late and class had yet to start so why not take a quick rest? He was too tired to do much else anyway.

Lior took a few deep, slow breaths in an attempt to calm herself down. She needed to get a grip otherwise she may very well find herself in a fit of tears, and that was not at all how she wanted her first day at Shibusen to go. With her face still hidden against the fabric of her school bag, she closed her eyes and counted backwards from twenty. It helped a little, but there was still that horrible nervous feeling twisting around in her gut. Lior had heard of people getting butterflies in their stomach over things like this but she was starting to think at this point that she had angry beavers instead of butterflies. Lifting her head slightly, she glanced around the classroom. Thankfully, no one seemed to have noticed her momentary lapse into acting like a three year old. Sighing, she sat up a bit and tried not to look quite so anxious. She knew worry was written all over her face, but then again it was her default expression.
Glancing around, she noticed that there was now someone sitting next to her. Lior’s first instinct was to move to the next seat over and avoid any and all contact with the boy. But that would be rude and she really needed to get over her fear of any sort of social interaction. Hunching her shoulders, the albino girl fidgeted in her seat. At least he didn’t seem to have noticed her. She doubted he noticed much of anything given her was slouched over his desk with his head down. Mildly concerned for her fellow classmate, she wondered if he was alright. Lior wasn’t exactly accustomed to a school setting, perhaps he just really didn’t want to be in class. Worry getting the better of her, Lior leaned forward until the side of her head was leaning against her desk as she gazed at the strange boy,
“Pardon me…but are you feeling alright?”
Wait, wait, wait. What in God’s name was she doing? This was a stranger. A stranger who would likely ridicule her as readily as anyone as soon as he looked up and saw she was a freak of nature. Immediately regretting her decision, Lior didn’t know what to do. While her concern for him was genuine, she also had the unmistakable feeling of wanting to slide under her desk and hide. She should’ve just stayed silent, said nothing. Surely the boy was fine; he didn’t need her worrying over him.

Who was talking let alone asking a question? Rhett didn’t know if it was directed at him but based on where it came from he guessed it was. Plus he didn’t remember anyone else in class being in some sort of distressed position like he was. Great, this meant he would have to interact with people already. It was a public environment so he knew socialization was unavoidable but he had hoped he could go a bit longer without having to do it. At least it was a girl’s voice so maybe it wouldn’t be a terribly dreadful experience, maybe.
Looking up in the direction of the voice he saw the figure who was apparently concerned about him. Trying to be as subtle as he could he scanned the girl with his eyes to get as much information about her. A quick scan and he had her height and the rest of her measurements, but those were simple numbers. What did catch the slightest bit of his interest was that her skin was actually paler than his but combined with her white hair and red eyes he assumed she had some form of albinism. Sadly he did not see any tag on her stating if she was a meister or a weapon so he had no way of knowing.
That reminded him of a few things. First was that he was supposed to find a meister at this school so he could go and become some kind of international superhero or something. Not really the top of his most wanted list but at least he would be able to explore his weapon side and do more with that. The other thing was that he himself had neglected to attach the weapon pin he was given, not that anyone would be able to see what he was with him slumped over the desk anyway.
Slowly he moved back in his seat and smiled at the girl. ”Oh I’m fine, just tired from the stairs. I take it your new here as well?” That was a rather normal greeting right? He wasn’t really sure and there were no options popping up for him to choose from. Reaching into his pocket he pulled out his title pin that had the words weapon on it and placed it on the desk. Running his finger against it nonchalantly. Hopefully this girl would be better at conversing than he was.

Why the hell had she said anything? The boy didn’t seem to respond at first, but when he did Lior hunched her shoulders a bit as he stared at her. Probably trying to decide whether to call her a freak of nature or ask if she’d escaped the circus. Sitting up straight once again, she shuffled her feet beneath the desk before tucking them beneath her seat. She hated to be stared at. However when he smiled at her she couldn’t help but be confused. He wasn’t going to tease her or call her names? What alternate reality had she stumbled into where people were so nice? Blinking as he answered her, Lior managed a nod and tried to find her voice, speaking softly,
“Yes, I am. Today is my first day attending Shibusen.”
Glad as she was that he wasn’t making fun of her for being an oddity, Lior didn’t know quite what to say next. Wait, he’d said something about the stairs. Why did Shibusen have so many steps anyway? She imagined there had to be some sort of advantage that came from the school being so high up aside from the lovely view, but it still seemed a bit excessive. Managed a timid smile herself, Lior glanced at the boy briefly before her eyes darted back to stare at her hands folded in her lap,
“The stairs are a bit troublesome, especially in such dreadful heat, but I suspect we’ll get used to them.”
Okay good, she was doing well so far. She wasn’t tearing up and hadn’t slid under her desk to avoid conversation, but now Lior was out of ideas. What should she say next? Should she say anything? The small smile she’d managed slowly fell as her eyebrows knit together and her usual look of being generally anxious returned. She didn’t know what to do. Noticing the boy next to her moving about, she saw him place out a pin identifying him as a Weapon. Oh! Of course! She’d completely forgotten,
“Oh that’s right, I forgot!”
Feeling a bit ashamed for forgetting something so simple, Lior quickly reached inside her bag, rooting around until she found her own pin with the word Meister on it. She placed it on her desk and sank down a bit in her chair. She really was just a mess this morning, she hoped she didn’t seem terribly incompetent to the boy next to her.

Well he was doing at least a halfway decent job at conversing if the girl was still here. Of course he couldn’t simply talk to her because that would be too boring. His primary concern was to find out if she was a meister or a weapon and from there to see if they could be friends or partners. It was a bit stressful for him as he had never dealt with this situation before and had never been wielded by anyone. Plus there was the general social awkwardness that came with his familiarity with solitude. If only this was some kind of visual novel where he had options to select.
She spoke and the analysis of her began. From the way she spoke there was a certain aspect of formality in her voice. The lack of contractions and her selection of words made that rather clear to him but he didn’t know how that would be relevant. On the other hand she was a new student like him! He figured as much with her being in this class after all but there was no harm in being certain. The more he knew about the girl the better he could form an opinion and see if she was someone to be interested in.
Her next words seemed to confirm his formality assumption as well as agree with his own guesses about the stairs. For a school that trained fighters the stairs were the first aspect of their training. Increasing the student’s physical abilities so they would be better fit when it came to fighting the monsters of the world. Sadly those were the areas in which he was weakest, ironic in a way. Finding answers to his questions was turning out to be much easier than he had anticipated them to be.
Seeing her pull out her pin was literally perfect for him. It solved the main thing he needed to know, that she was a meister. This would make things more interesting at least as far as he was concerned. Now how to actually go about this…not something he was sure about.
”Oh wow you’re a meister?”
Obviously. His approach seemed to be falling apart from the start but he had to progress now, he had already started things. Picking up his pin and holding it so she could see he continued.
”That’s really cool! I’m a weapon so want to see if you can wield me?”
What was he doing? That sounded like some sort of shitty line out of a low budget shojo manga. Trying to keep calm and resist face-palming himself he kept a simple smile on his face and hoped the girl didn’t decide to just leave right there. In his defense it was probably due to him being nervous about the prospect of having someone wield him. Being able to embrace his weapon side at all was exciting but having someone wield him sounded absolutely amazing! Though he had read enough manga to know this might end with a slap in the face, he hoped it didn’t end with a slap in the face.

Lior thought the boy’s pointing out the obvious was a bit strange. Well of course she was a Meister, the pin told him that. Perhaps such things were normal, though. She wasn’t one for knowing how normal people went about conversing with one another and therefore simply thought that he was trying to continue the conversation. Glancing at him for just a moment, she nodded,
“Indeed I am.”
She’d already seen the pin he’d put out so there was no need for him to show it to her but she said nothing of it. At the suggestion that she may see whether or not she could wield him Lior blinked. She was unaccustomed to someone being so forward with her. Granted she was a Meister and would need a Weapon as a partner if she was to become as great as she hoped to one day be. Meisters just weren’t Meisters if they didn’t have a partner, they couldn’t defeat Kishin Eggs or Witches or anything. Still, the bullied child in her was just a tad bit suspicious. He hadn’t mentioned her oddities once. For a moment, Lior wondered if it was all an elaborate ploy to make her feel hopeful only to drag her through the mud afterwards by refusing a potential partnership with a freak of nature like her.
Still, the smile on his face was enough to make her second guess her cryptic thoughts. He didn’t seem the type to bully. Usually if someone was going to tease her they would have done so by now, but there was still that feeing of uneasiness sitting in the pit of her stomach. However there was something else that seemed to push it to the side, something that made her smile at him and nod ever so slightly,
“I’d like that very much.”
Lior felt a vague bubbling of nervousness in her chest but tried her best to ignore it. Now was not the time. She was just starting to be hopeful rather than fearful, and she would not stop now. The worst that could happen was that she and this boy weren’t compatible, and even then she’d have at least found someone to talk to during class.

Not the face! Oh she was ok with it? Well that was a much better outcome than being slapped in the face! Things were going much better than he expected! At the very least he was getting a chance to try this whole weapon thing out. He couldn’t be sure about how this was going to turn out though and the uncertainty was killing him. This was something he couldn’t really plan for after all. Hopefully things would work out decently well but Rhett did have his doubts. Not having experience at being a weapon and being such a strange weapon.
That was probably why she agreed so easily. In her mind he was probably some awesome weapon like Zangetsu or something. It didn’t make sense for her to assume that the person wanting to work together would be some lame weapon like him. Now it seemed like he was misleading her into working with some pathetic excuse for a weapon. It wouldn’t hurt to try though right? As selfish as it may be he really wanted to experience someone wielding him even if it was a temporary thing. After she could discard him if she wanted, just one chance to try being a weapon was what he wanted.
”Well um…I’m kind of a strange weapon. I guess you should hold out your hand.”
He probably shouldn’t have said anything and just transformed but he had to warn her. If would be terrible if he transformed and she were to grab onto the wrong part of the screw. That would end in cutting her hand to some degree of severity and causing a huge scene in the classroom. Attention wasn’t what he was looking for and he didn’t think the girl would want the attention or getting her hand sliced open.
Hopefully she wouldn’t change her mind from his warning and not want to try wielding him. Not that he could blame her if she did but he could hope for the best right?

Kind of a strange Weapon? Lior wondered what he could possibly be. To her knowledge, strange meant something surprising or unexpected. Working from that she came up with the conclusion that he probably wasn’t something one would expect like a sword or a gun, which was perfectly fine with her. Lior wasn’t entirely sure how she would handle something like that. She had no experience with such things; then again she didn’t have experience with much of anything. She was a Meister and had never even given much though to what to look for in whatever Weapon she happened to partner with. She really was scatterbrained. However it didn’t matter all that much to her. Guns put her ill at ease, and swords were fine but she wasn’t entirely sure she’d be able to use one of those either. Shaking her head, Lior timidly held out her hand and lowered her gaze to the floor,
“Believe me; I know quite a bit about being strange. I’m sure you’re just wonderful.”
That much at least was true. Did he realize he was talking to an albino? Unless he was blind, he must have. Lior thought that perhaps the thought hadn’t occurred to him that she’d spent her entire life hiding from people who would call her strange. All that aside, she did indeed know all about being considered an oddity, although a few of the more caustic people in her life had gone so far as a call her a defect. That had stung, but she tried not to dwell on it. Her thoughts once again turned to what this boy’s Weapon form could possibly be. As far as strange went, her mind immediately went to the extreme, something like a Frisbee or a toaster. The Frisbee she could work with, the toaster may prove a bit difficult but it still wouldn’t matter to her.
As her mind kept wandering, she herself began to worry about her own capabilities as a Meister. What if they weren’t compatible at all and she couldn’t wield him? Well, that would mean she would have to keep looking which required more social interaction which entailed the possibility that she would be ridiculed. She hated talking to new people, talking to this boy had been extremely bold of her. Although she’d regretted saying anything at first, she’d turned out rather lucky as he seemed nice. But if this didn’t work out, she’d have to continue her search and try to find a Weapon elsewhere. The thought of having to go through another conversation with a total stranger made Lior’s stomach turn. She was becoming anxious again. Hopefully it would all work out.

The girl’s response was an odd one that Rhett wasn’t sure about. She didn’t seem strange so her first comment was confusing. Plus saying he was wonderful was a bit out of nowhere. They had just met so why would she say something like that about him? He was weak bodied and hardly a weapon; wonderful was not a word he would use to describe himself. The whole statement was off to him but he probably shouldn’t dwell on the details. She was still agreeing to try wielding him so who was he to question her reasoning? This was his best chance to find a meister so he had to go with it.
Taking a deep breath Rhett got out of his seat to stand next to her. He could feel his heartbeat in increase as he prepared for the transformation. Taking his left hand he placed it over hers by a few inches so she could easily take hold of him. All preparations done the only thing left for him to do was the actual transformation and hope things went well from there. Closing his eyes he thought for a moment but was too excited to think of anything witty. He would have to save the references for later.
Just like he had practiced he transformed into his full weapon form. His body being broken apart into pixel like fragments. Along with the deconstruction came a gray light that outlined the fragments and gave them a glowing appearance. Within moments his body had changed from that on a human to a mass of swirling gray fragments that hovered over the girl’s hand. As the rotation increased the pieces moved together and began to form the shape of his weapon form. The gray light solidifying into a screw before taking on a metallic appearance and becoming a screw.
Fully transformed Rhett dropped the few inches he was above her hand and fell into it. The tip of his screw pointing to the heavens.

Lior hadn’t seen a Weapon transform before and was rather interested to know what exactly that entailed. Watching the boy get up and stand beside her, she blinked. She didn’t mean to stare, she was merely curious so in this case she reasoned that staring probably wasn’t as rude as it usually would be. Truth be told, she was worried for just a second when he began to fragment into thin air, but as the pieces took form and solidified over her hand, she became less worried and more fascinated. As the gray light faded, a screw fell into the palm of her hand. Lior continued to stare at the transformed Weapon in her hand, trying to wrap her head around things before she tilted her head,
“How curious.”
She certainly hadn’t expected a screw, but then she wasn’t sure what she would’ve expected in the first place. The only indication that she’d had as to what the boy’s Weapon form may be is that it was strange. A screw didn’t seem all that strange to her, it actually seemed rather useful. It was certainly better than a Frisbee or a toaster. Honestly, what had she been thinking? Blinking, Lior scooted back from her seat a bit. She gripped the screw a bit tighter in her hand before jabbing at the air in front of her. Yes, that would certainly do. She didn’t seem to have a problem holding him at all, he wasn’t all that heavy. Smiling, she turned and carefully set the screw down on the desk,
“I don’t think strange is the word I’d use. I think…oy vey, what’s the word?”
Lior tapped a finger to her chin for a moment. She wasn’t so good with usual teenager talk having been homeschooled for so long. After a moment she got it,
“Ah yes, cool! I think a screw is a cool Weapon form. That being said…well,”
Okay really now, she was being ridiculous. The whole song and dance of seeing whether or not she could wield him was over and done with; all she needed to do was ask if he wanted to be partners with her still. That feeling of anxiousness nipping at her heart, she took a deep breath and turned her gaze to the floor,
“Would you like to be my Weapon?”

Rhett wasn’t sure what to make of this odd feeling. Not having experimented much with his weapon form beyond transforming he was in a bit of shock. Being in someone’s hand he could feel her soul wavelength and he hadn’t expected that. It was just a strange sensation to him and with his little knowledge of these things Rhett wasn’t sure what was going on. Feeling her wavelength started out very odd but quickly the sensation became more natural and he could start to feel another. Eventually he could feel the rhythm of both of their wavelengths and notice the similarities and differences between them.
Curious? Oh great she didn’t like his weapon form. Not that he could blame her, who wanted to use a screw as a weapon. He wasn’t common like a gun or sword, and not nearly as easy to use as them. Simply shooting or slashing wasn’t going to be very effective on a mission. Well slashing might have some merit but he would be more useful as a stabbing weapon. And he wasn’t even a good stabbing weapon! At least with spears and stuff you had some range to work with. Who would want a weapon like him?
As she set him on the desk Rhett felt the wavelength disappear and was left with his own. At least he got the chance to experience another’s wavelength. If strange wasn’t the word to describe his weapon form what was? Useless, stupid, unhelpful, worthless? Cool? What kind of an answer was cool? He wasn’t even a weapon in the traditional sense. He was a piece of hardware and not even a good fighting one like a nail gun or something. What was this girl on to think his weapon form was cool? Though to be fair he shouldn’t complain about it.
For some reason the girl looked rather nervous about something. Was lying about the state of his weapon form so difficult? Looking around the darkness that surrounded him Rhett wasn’t expecting the question. Was she serious? Lying about this was something that seemed too mean for the girl. Maybe she was crueler than he expected of her but it didn’t seem like it. That would mean that she was serious and did want to partner with him!
Excited about the prospect of partnering with someone Rhett reverted to his human form. Not being used to being in his weapon form or changing back he was at a rather awkward angle with his hand pressed against the desk. Not minding he smiled at the girl.
”Yes, yes I would!”
Not paying attention to what he was doing he failed to notice that he was not stable on the desk. Losing his balance after he exclamation Rhett tipped off the desk and ended up face planting into the girl’s, or should that be new partner’s, chest.

Lior hadn’t expected the boy to suddenly revert back to his human form, much less to be leaning at such an awkward angle. For the moment he seemed fine with it thought, and it seemed she’d found a Weapon! Her smile brightened for just a second before she took on a more worried look as the boy began to lose his balance. Eyes widening a bit, she reached out to him,
“Oh dear, please be careful!”
Too late. The toppled forward and his face planted right into her chest. Lior felt her face heat up and, while a bit embarrassed, she was more worried about the boy’s wellbeing than where his face was. Hoping she wasn’t blushing too terribly, Lior gently laid her hands on his shoulders and pushed him up and away from her, a look of concern plain on her face,
“Are you alright? You didn’t hurt yourself, did you?”
It wasn’t that far of a fall, but she still worried. Injuries could occur anywhere and besides, he was to be her Weapon. She was supposed to look after him now, or at least that’s what she thought. Good Meisters did do that, didn’t they? Lior thought so. On the bright side, at least he hadn’t taken a nosedive into the floor, that would have been truly terrible and probably ended in a trip to the nurse’s office. It probably also would have included Lior crying, she couldn’t stand to see someone hurt. She herself had never sustained any terrible injuries. A few bumps and bruises from Krav Maga and ballet. She’d acquired a few scars along one arm from a bad run in with a neighbor’s dog and another scar along her temple from a more serious encounter with bullies, but other than that she’d never broken any bones or anything. Hopefully she’d be able to keep it that way once she and this boy started out on missions together.
Oh, missions. That was something Lior hadn’t even thought of until that moment. They were in the NOT class, though, so of course they would have a ways to go in terms of learning to work together before they went around hunting down Kishin Eggs. But still, the prospect was both exciting and terrifying. On the one hand, she’d be helping people and travelling all over the place to cities and towns she’d never been to. On the other hand, she and her Weapon could potentially die and be torn limb from limb by monsters. Still, they would have time to run around on NOT missions so that hopefully by the time they were actually facing off against actual threats they wouldn’t trip all over themselves and wind up dead and soulless in a ditch somewhere.

This was indeed a very interesting turn of events. Rhett’s assumptions about the girl’s breast size seemed to be correct. The situation itself was not too unfamiliar to him as it was a common occurrence in anime he would watch. That being a point the outcome of said situation was a rather fixed one. Usually some exclamation followed by a physical attack to either his head or stomach. Rhett had no way of knowing what response this girl would have so he prepared for the worst. Hopefully it wouldn’t attract any attention from others in the class but from what he knew that was doubtful.
Another surprise from this girl. First she bothered to talk to him, then she wasn’t put off by his weapon form and even wanted to partner with him, and now she wasn’t acting offended and embarrassed over him falling into her breast. Maybe this school was just filled with such interesting individuals but Rhett didn’t find that to be very possible. Noting that she seemed to show concern for him instead of offense seemed out of place and did not correlate with what he had learned. It was a bit bothersome to see what he was used to not happening.
Based on her response it didn’t seem like she was going to be hitting him away so he should probably get away before things escalated to that. Lifting himself away from her Rhett moved back and sat on the desk, this time making sure to keep his feet firmly planted on the ground this time. Not that he wouldn’t mind falling again but he would rather not press his luck and wind up actually getting hit because of it.
”I’m fine.”
It was unlikely that anyone would get hurt from such a small fall, especially at a school where people were being trained to fight monsters. At least she had some level of concern for him even if it was unneeded. It would be problematic to have a partner who didn’t care about you. Though upon his thinking he did come to a rather glaring realization, he didn’t know her name. They had decided to become partners and had even had a moment of wielding but had yet to actually introduce themselves.
”Oh, I just realized something! A tad delayed but I’m Rhett Minsky.”

Oh good, the boy was alright. Granted there weren’t too many injures one could sustain from falling off a desk. Lior supposed if the desk was high enough one could possibly sprain an ankle, but that seemed the worst of the possible injuries. Luckily her new partner was alright and no trip to the nurse’s office would be needed. Now then, if only she could make the blush on her face go away, everything would be just lovely. The boy sat down on the desk again, and Lior watched him closely in case he should fall again. Such an incident happening a second time seemed highly unlikely, though.
When the boy introduced himself, Lior realized then that up until that point they hadn’t know each other’s names. Oh dear, how could she have been so rude? The sheltered girl didn’t know much about social interactions, but she knew that introducing one’s self was the first thing to do when meeting someone new. To have such a thing slip her mind until just then must have appeared terribly indecent and distant of her. If possible, her face turned even redder,
“My name is Lior Menke. It’s a pleasure to meet you, Rhett.”
Lior couldn’t help but find it a bit humorous that their surnames seemed to rhyme. Menke and Minsky. What were the odds? Well, now they knew each other’s names and could properly address each other. The albino really couldn’t believe her luck. Finding a Weapon on the first day, she never would have expected such good fortune. Of course they had yet to actually work together, but she did hope they would continue to get along. Missions would certainly be interesting, even if they were stuck in the NOT class for a bit. The feeling of excitement was something a bit foreign to Lior. She’d never gotten excited over much, certainly not meeting a new person, but she supposed finding a partner really was exciting. Now she was really a Meister and could really do her best at Shibusen.
