A sound soul dwells withing a sound mind and a sound body.
These were the words Bishop always found himself repeating when he had to study. The sound body part he had down, he was a well oiled boxing machine. Working out and training were a regular thing for him. Books, that were another matter. It wasn't that he was against learning, he loved learning. The distaste came from the act of reading. When he tried to focus on the words the ringing in his ears took over, drowning out any attention he may have. Try to use music to dampen the ringing and then all he could focus on was the music. There was no winning.
That was why Bishop found himself tucked in a corner of the library, staring very intently at the pages. Hopefully the corner he found himself in was secluded enough, he didn't want to be rude to other people. The large red headphones wrapped around his neck let out the heavy beat of metal music, a familiar and calming sound to them. Bishop was hoping to find some middle ground. It was difficult for him to gauge how loud the music was with his hearing loss. From where he sat, he didn't think he would bother any of the other students at the tables assigned for studying, unless they were to have exceptional hearing.
In his hands was a book on Soul Resonance. He had an exam coming up and he couldn't afford to fail. It was bad enough some people thought he was daft when he misheard them, he couldn't afford a failing mark enforcing the idea. Of course no one ever had anything to say about it when the mountain of a meister entered the dojo. His stature had scared off enough opponents as is, not that he wanted them to fear him. The giant was a gentle soul.
The music thumped around his neck, reaching his ears mixed in with what little sound he could pick up from the outside world. It wasn't achieving the desired result. Little to Bishops knowledge the music could be heard, anyone in that wing of the library could hear the loud metal music produced from the headphones reverting through the normally silent building.
