Devoran; Merric; Weapon
Name: Merric
Nickname: Doesn't want one
Age: 18
Gender: Male
Race: Weapon
Position: Student
Class: One Star
Partner: None
Partner: None
A Strong Body
Appearance:
In expression Merric's pretty... Well he has no idea as hes never been able to see what he or others look like in the first place, hes blind. He's got a pretty angular shape to his face with his remaining deep green eye lazily regarding his surroundings wherever he goes, unless he's speaking with someone then he looks into their eyes with his own. With fine features leading down to a thin nose and mouth that nearly always carry a relaxed expression or a smirk of some sort, rarely will Merric keep anything other than a relaxed kind of expression on his face so be it a smile or a smirk it'll be a lazy one. Merric's lighter red hair is constantly unruly and never really taken care of except to trim it on occasion but that rarely does anything to keep it away from his eye so is fairly common to see him irritably blow it out of his eye and grumble about trimming it... But he never follows through. However the feature that usually attracts the most attention of all is his missing eye which is covered by what looks like a medical bandage held in place by a thin strap that runs across his face in a crossing pattern, separating his 'functional' eye from the rest of his face.
Merric is a pretty relaxed guy and it shows. While he may be 6' tall he's fairly thin for his stature and while he carries his own fair share of muscle he isn't built to take to many hits, pair that with his extremely lax posture and slight slouch he's far from scary. He has a very pale skin tone that when coupled with his silent movement has caused a few surprises in his past, as he is eerily pale in a dark environment. Even his build seems pretty lax as his hands, while a bit large, are fairly fine with long fingers as well. His thin arms lead up to broad shoulders that are almost eternally slack, and while his chest may be a bit broader than his stomach and waist its still pretty lithe... And even if his legs are a bit more sturdy than the rest of him their still pretty lithe too, making him pretty unimposing for a 6' tall guy.
As far as style goes though Merric's pretty hopeless, its not that he has a bad sense of what goes with what... He just can't tell because he can't see the colors. He does well with what hes got though because before he left for Shibusen he and a friend went out to pick out a fair amount of clothing that they matched to suit his sense of style, mostly consisting of jackets matched with a T-shirt and a set of lose fitting pants which are usually Jeans but it varies by the set. Though during colder weather he switches his jackets to thicker hoodies. He'll usually leave the jacket open in most situations but he really just wears it out of a sense of style than anything else. However when hes just lazing around his room he'll probably just wear a mismatched set of slacks with a long-sleeve shirt. (Note: Each set has a number on the tag so he can tell which one goes with which.)

Height: 6' 0"

Fighting Style:
Merric has no idea how to fight but if he gets into one he'd treat it more like an elaborate dance than serious combat. He'd likely attempt to keep away from an opponents attacks, and the opponent in general, and hopefully prevent them from landing any hits. Until he figures out how to even land a hit in a fight hes pretty much just going to avoid his opponent and hope to tire them out enough, focusing purely on defense... Though he'd likely throw a punch or two if he thought he could get away with it.

Personality:
Merric is a reeeeeealy easygoing guy. With almost no aggression, the capability to tolerate all kinds of abuse, and a love of teasing anything within hearing range if given half a chance he's pretty much the result of having tooo many siblings and no resistance to their pleas. Being constantly dragged to do things that he didn't want to do makes him pretty pushoverish and gave him the ability to find the fun in almost anything, a notion that he embraces all the time so it isn't hard to get him to try something new. Hes also somewhat lazy, he has the work ethic to do things... Buuut after years of having to do all kinds of things with no real breaks in between hes really learned to value the lazy days that occur so much more frequently in Shibusen and will probably relax all day if given half a chance.
Another thing about Merric is that hes so dam helpful, or at least he tries to be. Growing up with as many 'siblings' as he had the few 'parents' on hand where often overwhelmed by the sheer amount of things that needed to be done. He quickly learned to take care of himself and others with very little hesitation. Even though he occasionally bites off more than he can chew he still gets it all done, even to his own detriment, and will continue to take on more till someone forces him to stop. Coupled with that hes also pretty good at dealing with people, only getting better at dealing with them as he learns more about them. As he learns more about a person he'll often act according to their likes and dislikes, introducing things a certain way and avoiding doing or talking about certain things as he learns more about the person in question. This makes him more careful and sort of awkward around new people once he's met them but it doesn't deter him from trying to learn about them as he views each one as yet another 'sibling' that he hasn't gotten to know yet... He also thinks less in the terms of friends and more like family because to him there is little difference.
Merric's also immensely cheerful at any given time, often finding the good points in a bad situation and making a joke about them to divert the tension and make those around him loosen up and laugh a little. This extends to and stacks with most of his actions and any work that he figures that he should do too as not only does he enjoy every freaking minute of his favorite things to do and is completely open to trying anything else in hopes of enjoying it as well, but when doing anything that he isn't particularly fond of he just laughs it off and makes half-assed complaints to lighten the workload... Even tries to make a game out of it if he can. This often stacks with his friendly nature and hes pretty open towards anyone he comes across, no matter how unkind they are Merric tries to see it from their point of view so he can share the fun with them too. Often trying to make everyone's life a bit more fun as well even at a cost to himself, to him anything that must be done to bring a bit more life into anyone's life is worth the price to make them happy.
Paired with his eternal cheerfulness is a need to never be the cause of someone else's sadness and Merric will go to great lengths to ensure that he never makes someone unhappy. If Merric is hurt, he'll laugh it off and make a joke out of it. Often making light of it and diverting any and all attention onto something more important, like how awesome the arc on that throw was... Even if the arc ended in his 'sensitive parts'. If something bad happens to him, he won't bring it up and if it is brought up he'll play it off as minor and quote worse things that have happened before. Usually consisting of pointing to his eye and saying "Its nothing compared to losing an eye, that freaking sucks!" before making an offhand comment on how it'll just make his life better and switching the topic. If he ever happens to ruin something Merric 'll devote himself to fixing it, stubbornly refusing to back down until he fixes it and more. Usually trying to make improvements and leave it better than it was before... Though its pretty rare to happen because hes very careful in the first place and he'll often beat himself up about it as well as running himself into the ground to make up for what hes done.
Upon arriving at Shibusen he realized that he really had no idea how to make friends as at the orphanage new people where always introduced and he was usually more concerned about how they where settling in than he was about being nervous, so he hasn't figured out how to deal with the way that meeting new people makes him slightly nervous. This results in him spending most of his time alone and he's grown used to the peace of mind that it brings, usually spending his time reading or listening to music as he avoids doing either of these things around others. He also spends his free time perfecting new recipes and when hes absolutely sure that nobodies nearby he'll also dance on occasion so that he remembers how... And because he enjoys it.
Though Merric's more used to his old life he's adapted to life at Shibusen too. During class and the regular everyday events he's usually pretty attentive, trying to learn as much as possible to prepare him for everything that he might encounter... Not to mention just loving to learn new things in the first place. And though he tends to sit in the back and stay silent for most of it he's listening to every detail and making notes on everything he finds interesting, which tends to be everything. He's far from a great student though as he tends to sit out on most physical exercises and merely observe, learning all he can but not wanting to tip off his fellow students that he cannot see. Though he's never been on any missions before he kinda looks forward to them, their like little vacations where you can learn yet more new things and explore new areas with the bonus of being given the privilege of hunting down a monstrosity and ending its murderous existence.

Inside the Soul
Weapon form:
Merric takes the form of a rather simplistic Boar Spear as his weapon form. It's primarily a two handed thrusting weapon used to hunt boars but its also seen use as a common weapon of war in times past. The 'wings' that are traditionally used to stop a charging boar can also be used as a way of hooking weapons or shields out of the way as well as preventing the spear from sinking to far into an opponent. Like the student in question the spear is rather simple, without any flair involved in its design only an oddly dim brown which is almost black in itself 5' haft and a 1' dim black spearhead of which the actual spearhead is just 7" of it, the other 5" are the wings. While its best to fight with Merric two handed a particularly strong Miester wouldn't have a problem using him with one hand, as he has a quite good balance and is quite conscious of how good a grip his wielder has as well as the surrounding area.

Partial Form:
As a partial form Merric's loses most of his right forearm and his wrist in place of 1' of the haft of his weapon form ending with the speartip, complete with the wings for defense. While he isn't very used to it yet he doesn't have too much of a problem forming it... The trouble lies in the fact that he isn't used to fighting in the first place, even if he'd really like to change that fact and learn to.

Out of your Mind
Strengths: Reflexes, Agility, Good Balance.
Weaknesses: Lack of Combat Training, Poor Endurance, Blind.
Hobbies:
-Reading: Merric loves to read well... Pretty much anything! He grew up with the only way to see color through the imagery found in books soooo its something that stuck with him for his entire life. In addition to that hes developed quite the knack for it by now and is quite good at changing his voice to suit each character. (Note: The text in his books has indents (aka braille) so he can read them.)
-Cooking: After Merric got older he wanted to help his 'parents' a lot more than he was. So he asked to help and they let him, with each meal he got better and he was eventually cooking most things better than his parents, so its pretty safe to say that Merric is a decent cook with all the practice he got.
-Dancing: At much protest from Merric he ended up learning to dance... Some of his younger sisters 'convinced' him to take dance class with them and he couldn't help but learn, after a while he even got pretty good at it and though he'd never admit it... He kinda enjoyed it.
-Music: Music is probably Merric's greatest pleasure, because of the way he uses echolocation to get an idea of his surroundings his hearing is quite finely tuned... So when he hears music its effect is amplified because he picks up on almost every detail that people usually miss. As far as genre goes he really doesn't have a preference, to Merric good music is good music and it should be appreciated regardless. Though him and music also suffer a bit of a love hate relationship in public because when he hears it he tends to lose his focus in return to listen to the music exclusively, this often causes misteps and other mistakes as well as making all the little gestures that he uses to pretend to see things drop.
-Whistling: Merric loves whistling and he often whistles random patterns with varying pitches purely for the fun of it at all times... He also uses it to see, Merric listens to the different tones of nearby as they bounce back to him to get a good idea of his environment. This allows him to get a good idea of his surroundings within 6' and mimic sight with decent accuracy.

Aspirations:
Merric has few aspirations other than to make the lives around him more fun, the main reason that he even came to Shibusen is because he figures that Kishin aught to be hunted down before they kill to many innocents. He doesn't really care about becoming a death scythe or even being a very good fighter, as he expects his missing eye to bring him way below par as far as fighting goes, Merric simply wants to do his part and hopefully make things a bit better along the way.

History:
Merric is an orphan and he whenever he was born before he was left at the orphanage his optic nerves never fully developed and cannot function, its assumed that one of his biological parents had the same trait and gave him the defective gene but he doesn't know because he doesn't know or care who they where. He was left at an orphanage in Winnipeg, Manitoba on November 2nd and considers that to be his true birthday, whoever his real parents where doesn't matter to him as he has all of the family he needs in the 'siblings' and 'parents' that surround him. From the beginning of his life he was surrounded by 'brothers', 'sisters', and caring 'parents' and he never wanted to be anywhere else. He very quickly learned to take care of himself and was taught how to use echolocation early on so that he could find his way around without any special help, this first manifested in clicking his tongue in his mouth in an odd manner but once he learned to whistle he learned to use that in its place as he could vary the pitch to let him 'see' up to around 6' with decent accuracy.
One of the first things that Merric learned to do was to read. One of his older brothers loved to read and when it occurred to him that Merric could not he quickly decided that that was utter crap and needed correcting, safe to say that braille books where quickly saved up for and purchased in almost no time flat. Hours where spent with his brother and he quickly developed into an avid reader with an enormous appetite for literature, eventually outreading his brother even if they'd been adopted by someone by that point... This was also the point where he realized that he was never going to be adopted, nobody wanted to adopt the blind kid of the bunch and you know what?... He didn't care one bit! He was happy to play it up so that he could stay with all of his siblings, especially with his new found skill of reading. One of his favorite things to do was to get everyone together and read a book to them all, mimicking the voices all the while and often letting the newest kid pick so they would get more comfortable with everyone and settle in faster.
This was also around the time that Merric discovered music... And he loved it! The sounds where so vibrant to him and it went hand in hand with whistling, that only made it more fun to find his way around and he would often invent new and expansive patterns as he walked around in addition to mimicking whatever music that he was listening to previously... Sometimes this caused him to simply fall over because he got too focused on the pattern that he forgot to listen to the echos it caused, this usually was the result of a loose toy car and he reallly learned to hate toy cars for no particular reason other than that he always stepped on the dam things... Even prompting a traditional gag gift of a toy car at his birthday. Another drawback is that his appreciation for music causes him to lose focus and stop pretending to be blind... In addition to causing the incident that cost him his right eye. One day one of his new little 'sisters' was showing off what she'd learned at band practice, she was so proud of earning the rights to a solo performance that she had brought her trumpet home and had decided to gather up a few of her siblings and perform her solo for them. Thing is that she really was great at it and when Merric 'tuned in' to her performance he was walking down the stairs with lunch. So to sum it up he lost his focus, didn't see the toy car, stepped on said toy car, fell down the stairs with a loud yelp, and managed to catch his right eye on the lose nail sticking out of the rightmost part of bottom stair before landing on his back at the bottom of the stairs. The kids where understandably concerned, especially when they saw the blood trickling from behind his hand, but Merric just laughed it off and shooed them back to their play with promises of more sandwiches and a special reassurance to the little lady who was performing who he told that she was doing great and would be the star of the show tomorrow. After the kids returned to their performance and he had fixed their lunch he went upstairs to find one of his parents, gesturing to his eye and stating the need for a doctor before passing out. After the surgery he got right back to normal and whenever the girl asked about his eye he just told her that it was worth the price to hear her play, usually queering the happy girl to go get her instrument and play some more.
When Merric got older he started to do even more than was asked of him, mostly consisting of extra chores and even things that where traditionally jobs for much older people who could actually see. This eventually extended to cooking, causing him to become quite the little chef as he was quite determined and had some small talent for it. Ironically this was something that became high demand as his 'siblings' where pretty much "black holes with legs!" and he did make good food... Probably didn't help that he loved it and it was easy to bother him into making seconds or thirds of even the most elaborate meals. Much to his dismay this also eventually extended to... Dancing. Merric had sisters, he was not immune to their charm, he was dumb enough to volunteer to take them to the dance studio, there where usually more than 10 of them, they took a liking to him and repeatedly asked him to dance with them as well as asking their teachers to "make him learn!"... Do the math guys, it ain't real tough to see that eventually he caved and learned to dance with much protest... Despite his protest he picked it up pretty quickly and learned to love the happy little sounds when it was "their turn to teach brother!", and though he'd die before admitting it he really learned to love it.
Though a few unfortunate things did shine through into Merric's life, he may have played them off buuut they did happen and nobodies life is prefect. One of these things is obviously the loss of his eye, it may not bother him much due to his blindness but it did plant a seed of worry in his mind. He was worried that he'd mess up for others, that incident could have ruined that little girls day and she was a really good trumpeter so if she was worrying over it during her performance it could've thrown her off... A silly fear in most cases but regardless he never wants to ruin something for someone and takes great care to not let hims problems affect others. Another thing involves Kishins, to sum it up short and sweet he despises them. To Merric Kishins are despicable as he has seen many an orphan pass through because of one and he would exterminate one without hesitation... A chance he jumped on when he discovered that he was a weapon a month or two before his 18th birthday when an abusive parent tried to 'reclaim' their child. Merric had been reading (Braille) to said child at the time and when the man slipped past the adults to the kids room the fear in the kids reaction made him quite angry and sparked his partial transformation... The coward surrendered quite quickly with a spear at his throat and was promptly escorted out of the building at spearpoint, no ifs, ands, or buts about it. Shortly after he expressed interest into going to Shibusen and after withdrawing most of the money that he'd saved up over the years and a bit of planning, preparing, and arranging he enrolled in Shibusen and flew there to try his luck hunting down Kishin... Not to mention enjoy himself around the school and explore life beyond the orphanage.

Extra Notes:
Note: Merric's echolocation works up to 6', listening to the way sounds bounce off things within that radius or where sounds are coming from to get a good idea of his surroundings within that radius. Though it can be blocked and thrown off by excessive amounts of noise if he isn't careful..... Also Sloppy (I don't like writing that...) and Makeouts. (... I don't know what to think there.....) ((Also color code for my convenience. 08cf00 ))

Merric had flown in from Winnipeg to find Death City to be filled with life, arriving during rush hour was probably a bad plan but he just laughed at it and commented. "Wellll at least its allot like home, filled with people and plenty of kids to get underfoot and bug me about stuff." After making his comment he looked back at the airport for a few moments before smirking and waving at the plane he could hear taking off as if to say goodbye to his old life before starting to whistle a cheerful pattern and expertly weaving his way through the crowds to get to Shibusen. Eager to settle down and (hopefully) relax all day, maybe it was a school but he'd decided to treat this like a vacation.
After reaching the school (And picking up a sub along the way there, a Meatball one!) Merric let out a high pitched whistle, sounding like he was admiring it but really just trying to estimate how high the stairs where... Safe to say that he looked a bit amazed by what he 'saw' and simply said. "..... That's quite the climb." Shortly after listening carefully for a few moments to determine if there was anyone within hearing range he muttered "I reallly hope that these are the right stairs or when i get to the top and discover the pizza delivery place i'm going to be really disappointing... And probably hungry so at least it'll be convenient hehehe." and after smirking up at the stairs he resumed his previous tune and attempted to make a new pattern as he ascended.
Once he reached the top Merric stopped whistling and made a dramatic twirl paired with a smirk and sigh before sitting down on the top stair of the long staircase and laughing before speaking up. "Whew... That's wayyyy to many stairs for my liking... Long and tiring but hey, at least they lack the traditional toy cars that trip me up all the time. I'd reallllly hate to fall down those stairs hahahahaha!..... Heh, must be quite the view from up here too... Whatever! I conquered those dam stairs and i'll do it again, just gotta walk down em to see the sights up close and personal!... Nowwwww i believe i've gotta find my room, need a bed to sit around all day like an idiot and tune out." Though contrary to his words he sat there for a few moments longer, enjoying the breeze and finishing his sub before getting up and making his way into Shibusen. 'Lets see what there is to do around here while where poking around, bet there's something interesting to mess around with before slacking off for the foreseeable future.'
