This was it. The moment she had been researching, preparing, practicing and waiting for ever since she moved into her apartment in Death City. Inhaling deeply, Chihiro shuffled into the dance studio of Shibusen, grunting as she lugged a rather large boombox along with her. Today she was clad in her full kimono attire, which included the coat. However, what truly made people double-take as they walked past her in the hallway was that today she wore a backwards “B” floral brim cap along with the rest of her outfit; two entirely different cultures clashing together in a very strange fashion. However, Chihiro had done her research and discovered that Beyoncé was a popular American R&B artist, so she knew that her hat was perfect for a stylish Hip-Hop flair. It was always important to get into character, after all...well, that’s what she had read, anyway. Her hands shook as she walked to the very center of the spacious dance studio, holding the boombox out in front of her with a look of determination on her face. At this point, only a few students in the room were starting to take notice of her. Inhaling deeply a few seconds later, she proceeded to shout at the top of her lungs for everyone to hear. “I AM…I’M GONNA DROP THE BEAT!!” Releasing her grip on the boombox, it crashed into the floor with a resounding clatter loud enough to make Chihiro jump and flail about her arms. Squatting as if she was preparing for something, she faltered after realizing that the boombox had in fact not begun to play music on its own. But she had dropped the beat! “Ahh…Uh, ah…” She mumbled nervously, smacking and pushing random buttons on the music player with the intention of somehow getting it to play. Eventually she succeeded and she resumed her previous squatting position as the loud music began to play through the room. Chihiro at first began rocking side to side slowly, as if she were shifting her weight back-and-forth between her legs. But as soon as the beat dropped in the hip-hop song, she suddenly started standing up straight and squatting again in quick succession, her face scrunched up with concentration. Her movements were rather stiff to do to her kimono. After her first “dance” move, she then fell to the ground and proceeded to run around in a circle on her side. Next she rolled back and forth a few times, still on the ground, before scrambling back to her feet to flail her arms around like a windmill. Chihiro followed up with a sudden collapse on the ground to fish-flop a few times before scrambling back to her feet yet another time. She ended her dance with another fast squatting-standing session, and then stood with both hands apart and in the air as if to say “Tadaah!” At the moment, she was completely out of breath, practically hyperventilating. But she had done it! Chihiro had successfully pulled off performing her original hip-hop routine in front of the other students. Now she definitely was one of the cool kids; everybody would want to be her friend now. Unfortunately, Chihiro was not met with the applause that she had been expecting to receive and instead the majority of the students had either A) already left the room, B) were now rushing to leave the room, or C) were laughing and gesturing at her mockingly. Now incredibly embarrassed, Chihiro pulled the brim of her recently purchased hat down to cover her beet-red face, crouching to try and pick up the boombox so she could make her escape. Oh, this was bad; this was very, very, very bad. She needed to disappear and pretend like this never even happened; who had she been kidding?! This was such a stupid idea. "Come on...come on..." She whimpered, panicking to get a good grip on the boombox handle but failing due to her clammy hands. Word Count: 658 Tagged: Lior/Open

Oh gracious, but she was tired. Lior climbed the steps of Shibusen as a slower rate than usual, parasol held at a bit of an off angle rather than straight against whichever direction the morning sun came from. Muted red eyes blinked in a manner that was entirely sleepy as the albino stifled another yawn but didn’t quite accomplish it, bringing a hand up to cover her open mouth. This was ridiculous. She and Rhett weren’t even close to becoming One stars yet, but even their slight progress already had her anxious enough to lose sleep. Worries of having to fight very real monsters had somehow only just come to her, and Lior once again had failed to summon up any viable sense of optimism that would have let her sleep. Reaching the top of the steps in time was a miracle in and of itself. Lior was so tired she didn’t even feel the usual anxiety she felt wandering the halls. Let people stare at her if they wanted, she didn’t care at the moment. All she cared about was getting through the day so that she could return home and go right to bed, hopefully successfully this time around. Having folded her parasol up once inside the door, Lior held it carefully at her side. She continued on successfully to the dance studio where the NOT classes were held during school hours. The usual chatter of the morning crowd met her ears. Habit had Lior scanning the group for Rhett, but she didn’t spot him. Sighing with a bit of disappointment visible in her features, she found the far wall and leaned against it, letting her head fall back to look up at the ceiling but briefly before shutting her eyes. A blast of loud music made her eyes fly open not a moment later. Lior was startled right off the wall, nearly pitching forward before she caught herself. Well, at least she was more alert now. Blinking and taking a deep breath to calm her alarmed nerves, Lior glanced around to see if she could find the source. Standing near the back, she couldn’t see too well, so she gently worked her way forward with nudges and apologies. Several people were suddenly and quickly filtering out of the room so it wasn’t too hard, and Lior could soon see why. Oh dear…A rather small blonde girl was…doing something akin to dancing, Lior supposed. Given she’d taken years of everything from ballroom to ballet to pass the time, it took her a moment to realize that she was likely making an attempt at hip-hop given the hat and music. Even so, Lior was confused as to why. Head tilting out of habit, the albino carefully folded her arms and raised an eyebrow, her lips forming a bit of a pout. In a way it was almost like one of those scary movies her younger brother loved so much. She wanted to look away, both out of embarrassment for the girl and for herself, but she just couldn’t do it. Her feelings on the matter shifted, though, when the girl stopped and appeared to be met with less than she was expecting. Taking another look around, Lior noticed that quite the number of people had left. Those remaining filled the room with laughter and other inappropriate responses. All at once, Lior felt for the girl. She knew the feeling of being laughed at and jeered a little too well to just stand by and do nothing. But if she did something, then there would be eyes on her too as well, generally the opposite of what she strived for. Watching the girl scramble, probably in hopes of fleeing the situation, Lior made her decision and took a deep breath, trying to ignore the knots she could already feel twisting in her stomach. The sound of her heels clicked loudly on the polished floors as she determinedly made her way to the front with purpose. Stopping only when she was standing directly in the way of those taunting the poor girl, Lior put on the most encouraging smile she could manage for the blonde girl. And, then, she started to clap.

Why did this always seem to happen to her? All Chihiro wanted to do was make some friends at her new school; that wasn’t such a big request, was it? At least she had thought so previously. Now she was starting to doubt herself again. Whenever she tried to stand out and be noticeable, all she ended up doing was making a fool of herself no matter how hard she tried. It was so embarrassing and each time another blow to her self-esteem. The blonde girl could feel tears beginning to well up in her eyes, but she refused to give anyone the satisfaction of seeing her cry. Unbekownst to Chihiro, some of the laughing students were simply laughing because they thought she had been performing physical comedy. But to her it felt like everybody was making fun of her, although that wasn’t the case.
The loud clicking of heels on the dance studio floor caught Chihiro’s attention, and to her horror the sound was getting louder. Which meant that whoever was wearing them was approaching her. Chihiro had seen the movie Mean Girls before, which was all about American teenage girls in high school. All the nasty-natured girls in the movie seemed to be wearing high-heeled shoes, so putting two and two together she associated the sound of heels against the floor to that mental image of a “mean girl”. Without turning her head to look at the girl, Chihiro spoke, her voice loud and slightly shaky. “D-Don’t be mean to me, or…or else I-!”
She was abruptly cut-off by the sound of clapping not too far from where she was on the ground. Looking up from the floor with wide eyes and pulling the brim of her cap back up, Chihiro watched as the girl she had heard approaching applauded. She was smiling a friendly smile, as if she had enjoyed Chihiro’s performance. The Japanese-German girl found herself reflecting the other girl’s smile, wiping away at her wet eyes with the sleeve of her kimono. Somebody had enjoyed her performance! Oh, joyous of days; maybe things were starting to turn out for the better.
Standing back up, Chihiro folded her hands in front of her body as she bowed. To her surprise, the students who had thought her to be a comedian joined the white-haired girl in applause. After bowing and straightening back up, Chihiro’s face broke out into a wide, goofy grin. It wasn’t a standing ovation or anything, and not everyone in the room was applauding, but the fact that several of the kids had clapped for her was good enough for Chihiro.
Turning back to the pale girl who had set off the round of applause, Chihiro gulped. Now that she had someone's attention, next was the hard part: she had to befriend this student somehow. Sticking out her arm stiffly towards the girl, Chihiro inhaled deeply before rambling out what she had memorized to say if she found herself in this situation. “H-Hello my name is Chihiro Misato it is very nice to meet you and I hope we can be friends!” She silently hoped that her strange accent wasn’t off-putting.

Lior had felt a bit of heat rise up into her cheeks when she’d marched to the front. The albino had been prepared for the worst. Odd looks, whispers, people trying to figure out who in the world would find such a performance enjoyable, the whole nine yards. The last thing she expected was for a few others to join her. Whether it was out of pity or out of guilt for having acted poorly she would never know, but it was still a lovely feeling to know that not everyone in the room was awful.
The albino gradually stopped, let her hands fall and folding them neatly in front of her. She kept the smile on as the obvious color in her cheeks from nerves faded. Not everything brave that she did went well, so she was thankful her little plan had worked out. If it hadn’t, she doubted she would have fared any better than the blonde girl. Who was now turning her attention towards her.
Her stomach twisted unpleasantly, but Lior tried to will herself to not be so nervous. She had seemed nice enough; after all she had looked delighted once reassured. She had met many lovely people at Shibusen, there was no reason for her to be anxious about meeting another. Lior blinked quickly, feeling more color paint her cheeks that would be painfully obvious with her complexion. But old habits died hard. Even now she hardly expected the somewhat shy introduction, but then after so many years of bullying it was hard to expect anything nice. Lior was being proven wrong over and over again about her outlook on people the longer she was at the school.
A bit of a relieved sigh left her and Lior tried to calm her beating heart. You can do this. Sporting a shyer smile herself, the albino lightly moved both of her hands to the hem of her skirt, bending at the knee in a curtsy. “My name is Lior Menke, and the feeling is mutual,” she replied neatly, her voice likely a bit softer than most expected but clear as a bell. The accent the girl spoke with was a strange one to be sure. Lior was certain she caught traces of German, but there was something else there. However it would be impolite to just outright ask. So instead the albino righted herself to stand up straight again, bringing a hand to the side of her face as she tilted her head before asking a question that was acceptable. “If I may ask,” she started lightly, “are you new here? I do not remember seeing you in the NOT class before.”

It was difficult not to notice the blush spreading across the pale girl’s face as she curtsied in response to Chihiro’s greeting. She did, however, refrain from reading too much into it; at the moment she was awaiting the girl’s reply with baited breath. Would her offer of friendship be rejected? At this point, Chihiro had no clue. Although this girl was being polite, she could just as easily politely decline her offer. Which would be a total bummer, by the way; as far as Chihiro could tell from observing people’s reactions to her dance routine, few NOT students were going to be willing to even interact with her now. She found herself nervously tugging at her kimono coat and absentmindedly biting her lower lip.
Once the white-haired girl spoke, Chihiro blinked once, and then twice. Had she just heard her right? Going over what had just happened spanning the last few seconds of their interaction, Chihiro definitely recalled Lior mentioning that the feeling was mutual. Which meant… oh my gosh. Oh my gosh. “Oh my gosh!!” Chihiro exclaimed, bouncing in place and clapping her hands enthusiastically. Lior wanted to be friends, too! This was beyond great; it was amazing. In all honesty, Chihiro didn’t know how to handle this new information. She had just made her first friend in Shibusen, in America, and in a long, long while. She was absolutely ecstatic.
She watched her new friend make a few curious motions and then ask a question. Observing, Chihiro noted that Lior sure seemed dainty and graceful; seeing herself as just klutzy and awkward, Chihiro was rather jealous of that. “Yes! I-I’m new…” Now giving the other girl a complete head-to-toe scan, her green eyes grew wide as she viewed Lior's frilly yet glamorous attire. “Lior, are you…are you a princess?!” Was Chihiro in the presence of a true, blue princess? Lior sure seemed like one: she was pretty, kind, soft-spoken and polite, all of which were qualities of a high-society princess in Chihiro's book.

Seeing the Chihiro pause confused Lior for a moment. Had she said something strange? Perhaps it was unexpected of her? The blonde’s demeanor turned on a dime, though, going from spacey to ecstatic in only a few seconds. Seeing her be so jubilant made the albino smile just a bit wider. It warmed her heart to see someone so jovial over making new acquaintances, especially when she herself was the cause. It wasn’t a feeling she was used to, but she didn’t dislike it.
Giggling lightly at the other girl’s behavior, Lior shifted to loosely cross her arms and shift her weight to one hip. “I thought as much,” she said in reply to Chihiro’s confirmation of being a new student. “If that is the case, then welcome to Shibusen.” Lior bowed her head slightly as she finished her sentence.
The next words that Lior heard the blonde say caught her entirely off guard. It was her turn to blink and appear spacey, but it only lasted a moment. The blush came back with a vengeance, to color her face scarlet, Lior covering both of her cheeks with her hands and appearing wholly embarrassed, if not a bit flattered. “M-me? A p-princess? Oh no, gracious no!” Shaking her head twice, muted red eyes kept themselves glued to the polished floors as she tried to nervously laugh away the accusation. She was a bit shriller, her voice more unsteady, “I’m much too o-odd to be a princess, princesses don’t look like me.”
Oh dear, stop rambling! But she couldn’t. As the blush started to fade slowly, Lior was still talking, looking up at the ceiling as she thought and prattled on, “Though I suppose I can’t blame you, after all I am still from a rather wealthy family, and I did receive quite a lot of instruction on etiquette as a result but-“ Lior finally managed to stop herself, lowering her voice with great difficulty back down to where it should be, covering her face entirely for a moment before dropping her hands and murmuring, “I apologize, that was rude of me. You’re very sweet for thinking such a thing of me.”
Taking a deep breath, she managed to make eye contact again with Chihiro, back to being soft spoken. “Though you could very well be a princess yourself.” She managed a small smile, still trying to will away the red in her cheeks, “Your kimono is lovely.”

Chihiro was honestly surprised by Lior’s embarrassed reaction to her inquiry. It was an honest question, and she in no way meant for it to be embarrassing. It only took the albino girl a few moments to process what Chihiro had said, and then it was straight to a completely scarlet face. Lior had covered her cheeks with both hands and rebuked any relation to being a princess at first, which had Chihiro a little worried. Oh no, had she just screwed up her chance of being friends with this girl? All she had done was correlate Lior’s presentation and clothing style to that of royalty…was that weird?? Chihiro’s eyes grew wide in panic as her mind raced to think of how to go about this situation.
What Lior said next had Chihiro sighing in relief. Okay, so she was just flattered. That was good. However, something the other girl mentioned caught the blonde’s attention. She was too odd? There wasn’t anything Chihiro didn’t think was glamorous about Lior. She had such delicate features, and her red eyes were beautifully stark against her pale skin and white hair. Plus, her figure and grace were things to be admired. “B-But you’re so pretty…” Chihiro quickly pointed out, shuffling nervously on her feet. It was kind of weird to not be looked at when someone was talking to her. Did Chihiro make her feel uncomfortable?
…Interesting. Chihiro instinctively tucked away that bit of information about Lior into the back of her mind, just in case it came in handy later on to know that this girl was a high-class lady. She observed that Lior appeared to be having an internal struggle of sorts before she apologized about being rude. Immediately Chihiro responded rather loudly. “No, no, it’s fine! You don’t need to apologize…” She waved her hands animatedly to emphasize her words.
Pausing when Lior made eye contact once again with her, Chihiro then beamed under the other girl’s flattery. “Oh! You really think so?” She smoothed her hands over her kimono to void it of any wrinkles from her dancing. “My Auntie Hana had it made specially for me…she always liked kimonos. A-And I do, too!” Her excitement faltered a bit and Chihiro proceeded to twiddle her thumbs. "Although, my friends in Japan don't wear kimonos as often as me...they said it was strange I liked them so much."

The pretty comment had Lior flushed again. Raising one of her hands to her cheek again in an attempt to cover how much color she suddenly had, she merely nodded, not quite knowing what to say and knowing that most of her words would be negative. Even after countless meetings with those who assured her there was nothing strange about her, it was difficult to combat years of bullying, both verbal and physical. She needed time. Lior just didn’t know how much.
Even if her apology was apparently unneeded, Lior still felt that it had been necessary. Striking down compliments was something she’d done with increasing frequency since arriving at Shibusen. Apparently a great deal of the population needed either clarity or glasses. Stop that! You’re doing it again! Snapping herself out of her thoughts just in time to here Chihiro speak again, she noted how she carefully righted the crinkles that had appeared in the fabric, her face lighting up as she did so. The sight was infectious, Lior smiling a bit more just from seeing such a delighted look on the girl’s face.
Strange to wear kimonos? Lior wondered why. Listening to Chihiro more, she wondered if her accent was due to being from Japan and not speaking English for long, but she was still sure there was something else in it. Still, it was all conjecture, and she was still too polite to ask. Letting her hand drop some, Lior crossed on arm over her waist and held the other bent to press a finger to her chin, appearing thoughtful. “Strange? Their thinking alone seems strange to me. You wear what you like, and certainly if you’re from Japan it is perfectly expected that you may wear them.”
Realizing she’d done the opposite of what she had been avoiding, Lior turned from thoughtful to appearing apologetic, clasping both hands to her chest and shifting her gaze away from the nerves. “I-I am only assuming of course, please correct me if I’m wrong. That you are Japanese, I mean.” Wow, she was really killing it today. Sighing internally at her own behavior, she wondered if it was her lack of sleep. Even now she was biting back a yawn. As her eyes gazed around the room a tad nervously for a moment, muted red eventually landed back on Chihiro, Lior still appearing a tad bashful from her words.

Normal day for the not so normal meister. One of those days where she rolled out of bed, may or may not have remembered that she had places to be, and got herself ready. Getting ready was always a short process, rushing through what she could think of or remember in a mad rush to get outside. Fortunately for her partner, the two didn’t live together. This most likely due to the fact that Zane was still attempting to avoid her and that Kaylin had no clue that meister and weapons often did live together. Rushing out the door in the earlier hours of the morning, she was dressed much as normal. Grey and white boots on her feet and lower legs, blue cut off shirt, variety blue jumpsuit, gloves, belt, and whip. Standard Kaylin, like slipping her hand into a glove, the consistency of her appearance could be surprising for some. Today, one things was different, she had one extra item with her. The small girl racing through the street, the extra thing she held happened to be multicolored. It also happened to be yarn. Yarn of multiple colors, spooled around itself, who knew how much was actually there. For now it was all in one big, neat, clump. She hadn’t used it yet. But that was bound to change. And change it did. Though Kaylin spent a good hour or so running about Death City, eventually the yarn caught her attention again. Well… the yarn and other things. First it was a stone. Wrapping yarn around it furiously to secure it, she pulled more yarn from the larger clump, secured it around her balled up stone, and WALLAH! A stone necklace. Perfect in every way. A grin on her face, the girl took off down the sidewalk again. Necklace in one hand, yarn in the other. She found a target. A tall man, a grumpy sort of look on his face, talking to someone with a lot of hand movements. Conveniently, he had stood himself right besides a crate. The quick moving meister wasted no time, hopping atop the crate, throwing the yarned stone around the man’s head and it somewhat oddly settled around his neck. Anger and confusion on the man’s face, he looked to Kaylin at first at a loss for words. It also didn’t help that the girl had opened her own mouth, exclaiming, ”HAPPY DAY GOOD SIR”And immediately following her words, she had taken off again. This continued on for… a good long while. Stones from the ground, leaves from the forest, pencils taken from students, forks from restaurants, a muffin, a baby’s shoe, coins, glasses… anything the girl could get her sticky little fingers on and somehow tie yarn around. Sometimes she had just one necklace in her possession as she ran about looking for someone to give it to. Other times, she stocked up on four to seven necklaces, the odd trinkets swaying back and forth as she ran about. Sadly, she was getting low on yarn. Having ended up at the school, no thoughts of classes or work entered her mind. Did they ever? Two necklaces in hand, the girl just had a small bit of yarn left, about a foot long strand, and that was halfway shoved down her shirt. One necklace was soon discarded, the leader of a group that had been leaving somewhere. While the young man didn’t seem to pleased, Kaylin hadn’t much cared. ONE NECKLACE LEFT. Wait…. why was everyone leaving? They were laughing? What were they laughing about? Somehow, Kaylin managed to narrow down where these amused students were coming from. The Dance Studio. Dance dance dance~ Kaylin loved movement. Loved dance. A working together of fluid movements. It was even better with another. Her mind traveled back to home, her lessons with Jack, dancing with her father, watching her graceful mother. Such good time, such FUN times. But, these thoughts for later! Her speed shoes on once again, the girl burst into the dance studio like she often did. What first caught her eye? A GHOST. A FRICKIN GHOST. Her eyes wide and her jaw dropped, the hint of a smile was almost completely lost with how open her mouth was. Even though some other students were in the studio, all she noticed was this ghost. Why was it in Shibusen?! WHY WAS EVERYONE NOT HAVING SO MUCH FUN!? WHY WASN”T IT FLOATING?! Plowing through anyone that might be in her way, it took no time at all for Kaylin to be directly at Lior’s left side. Necklace of random in her left hand, she firmly went to poke Lior’s left shoulder with her own right hand. ”Why aren’t you floating?”The girl chuckled, her joyous face back in place, the jaw dropping having ended. Eyes traveling up, she noticed these glorious flowers. They would be PERFECT for the last necklace. Eyes fixated on these flowers on the girls ears, Kaylin leaned infinitely closer to Lior, even though her hand hadn’t shot out to retrieve the flowers… yet. Then, something else caught her eye. Gaze shifting quickly, people might have trouble figuring out just what Kaylin was doing. Her eyes moved back and forth and back and forth. Chihiro, flowers, Chihiro, flowers. While she didn’t know the girl’s name, something about how she was dressed got her interested. She couldn’t pin her finger on it. Lastly, she focused on the flowers again. ”TRADE”The girl hollered out of nowhere, almost making herself jump out of her own skin. At this, she threw the necklace at Lior, aimed to go over the girl’s head much as the others had been placed before. But before she reached for Lior’s earrings, she changed her mind again. Turning sideways, Kaylin ran and then jumped at the blonde who had been none too far from the ghost. Her aim now? To get that hat. It was so different and flowery. Why were their flowers everywhere? Flowers were so cute! The jump wasn’t exactly at Chihiro. In fact, if Chihiro froze or didn’t get out of the way in time, Kaylin would jump straight past the girl and grab the hat as she flew past. There was always the possibility that the blond would move in the way…. and that would certainly hurt, seeing as Kaylin had taken off with more energy than necessary. Kaylin could get the hat, or not. She wasn’t overall too concerned. Laughing either way, if she had the hat it would be placed atop her head. Once again, either way, the girl would spin around and round and continue laughing. Completely forgetting about her favorite necklace she had “given” to Lior. And why her favorite one might ask? Well! Because it was the only one with a live trinket attached to it. A lovely banded gecko that she had found, yarn tied beneath the thing’s two front legs. Meaning… it was free to moooooooooooooooovvvvvvvvvvvveeeeeeeeeeeee!

Lior had blushed and nodded after Chihiro had pointed out how pretty she was. This got the blonde to thinking that possibly Lior didn’t have the best self-image in the world. Which she could understand, seeing as Chihiro didn’t exactly think so highly of herself either. She was klutzy, awkward, and weird, things that typically hindered her ability to make friends. Maybe if she and Lior became good friends they could help each other’s self-confidence grow; that would be nice. The smile that appeared on Lior’s face didn’t go unnoticed with Chihiro, but the blonde continued to ramble on about her love for kimonos. Once she had finished her sentence, she looked up to meet Lior’s thoughtful gaze as the other girl spoke in response.
Nodding in affirmation, Chihiro scratched a nervous itch that appeared behind her right ear. “N-No, you’re right…I’m Japanese on my papa’s side,” Having scratched the sudden itch, she sighed, her eyes glazing over briefly in satisfaction, “But my mama was German. That’s why I have blonde hair and green eyes.” To emphasize her point, she held out a strand of her hair and then pointed a finger at her left eye with the other hand. “I lived in Japan, but I can still speak German.” Switching over from English to German in the middle of her sentence, Chihiro giggled immediately afterwards, thinking she was being clever. Then tilting her head to the side, she rocked back and forth on her heels (as much as her geta would allow) as she pondered a question she had just thought up. “So, uh, Lior…where are you fro—?!”
Chihiro was cut off by the loud sound of the dance studio doors being flung open as a student barged into the room. The blonde girl had jumped slightly from surprise, and with wide eyes she watched as some random girl plowed through the other NOT students to get to her and Lior. Chihiro instinctively took a couple steps backward, unsure of what was to happen. This brown-haired student was now standing to Lior’s immediate left, poking her in the shoulder and asking her why she wasn’t floating?! Oh no, this girl was obviously crazy and Chihiro was not prepared to deal with crazy people today. Eyes darting between the new girl, Lior, and the exit, she contemplated grabbing her boombox and making a mad dash out of the room.
“Eep…!” Chihiro squeaked, the brunette now staring at her. Welp, there goes her chance of escaping. The new girl’s loud unexpected shout had Chihiro freezing up on the spot, her eyes wide with fear and face paling while the rest of her body went rigid. This girl had thrown a necklace around Lior’s neck and now was… “GYAAH!!” Chihiro screamed, stumbling backwards as the girl lunged towards her, swiping the brim cap off of her head and landing behind her. “My hat!” Chihiro protested, her hands now on top of her head as if feeling around for it. Spinning around to face the girl, who was wearing her hat and was currently spinning around in circles, Chihiro frowned. “G-Give me back my hat! I’m Beyoncé for today!” Her tone was almost childishly upset and the blonde could feel her eyes begin to water.

Oh thank goodness, it looked like Lior hadn’t accidentally offended Chihiro. Appearing to calm a bit, her shoulders dropped a bit as she listened. Ah, so she was only half Japanese. That certainly explained her blonde hair and green eyes. Smiling kindly as the girl slipped in to German, Lior slipped into the language as well with her reply. “I have German in my family as well, on my father’s side. His parents don’t speak much English, so I learned since I was young. The same with French on my mother’s side.” Hopefully that would make the blonde a bit more comfortable. At the very least, it looked like she was nervous, but the giggle she gave made Lior maybe think otherwise.
The loud noise startled Lior to be certain. She jumped a bit, eyes seeking out the source and landing on an energetic looking young woman. The moment her eyes landed on the albino, she carved herself a rift through the other students to get to her, staring and walking around her. Lior flinched, looking very much like she expected to be hit, hands clenched into fists at her sides just in case. She didn’t want to hurt the other girl but she would if she tried anything. Hearing her question though, Lior seemed to slacken entirely, furrowing her brows and turning her head to stare at the girl. “Um…what?” The albino had no clue what she was talking about.
And it didn’t end there, either. Her gaze shifted to Lior’s earrings. As she leaned uncomfortably towards her, Lior bent back, appearing to be caught somewhere between looking confused and looking extremely nervous. What in the lord was this person? Leaning a bit too far back, Lior actually had to shift and step one foot back to avoid falling, but the young woman abruptly shifted her attention to Chihiro. Oh dear. Chihiro looked just as distressed. The hollered word has Lior startling again, quickly righting herself to stand upright daring to raise a hand to get the other’s attention. “Um,” she was tentative to speak, “not to interrupt but…what exactly-“
Her sentence stopped as something was thrown. Eyes drawn to it, red widened when they saw just what was tied to the sting. “Oh my goodness!” Leaping into action almost literally, the albino followed the trajectory of the poor gecko and skidded not unlike a baseball player headed for home base. Hands extended and cupped, she caught the poor thing only feet from the floor. Sighing in relief, she stood cradling the poor creature in her hands, standing to see the commotion with Chihiro. Anger wasn’t the right word, too severe and too rarely seen in her. Frustration and disapproval was perhaps more accurate for the distinct frown sudden edge to her brow line. “What the hell is wrong with you,” she scolded, her tone far harsher than it just has been, her Chicago accent beginning to sneak in as a result, “stealing to be playful in one thing, but throwing a living creature? You could have killed it!”

Everything was moving so fast. It was all exciting. It was fun. And that brought a never dying smile to the meister’s face. Well… almost anything brought a smile to the girl’s face.
Kaylin did not notice the immediate reactions from the pair of girls. Or the semi-annoyed expressions from people she had barrelled over. Or even the confused ones of others in the studio. Why should she? There were so many other things to pay attention to and have fun with. You couldn’t pay attention to EVERYTHING! The blonde stood little chance with Kaylin’s quick movements and erratic behavior. Catching the brim of the hat as she flew by, the meister succeeded in placing it on her own head.
The colors! The wonder! The joy!
Lost in her own little moment of amazingness, she spun around and continued laughing. It was like a crown! But so much better! Her thought were only interrupted by a loud yelling blonde girl. Stopping her spinning, her eyes settled on Chihiro. Give her back the colors? Beyonce? Blinking a few times, a look of almost… pain? crossed Kaylin’s face. Processing. She was processing.
Bay…...on……say…..
Her odd grin instantly brightening out of the ‘thinking’ look, she raised her right hand with her only holding her pointer finger upward.
”I’m Kaylin!”
A smile. Kaylin was sure that introducing herself was quite enough to cheer Beyonce up. Unless… that was a game too? Keep away? Were they playing keep away?
Another distraction.
A sterner voice. An almost angry sound. Kaylin’s eyes instantly settled on the ghost. The young meister had not been paying attention to see what had become of her treasured necklace. As far as she was concerned, it was being treasured as much as she had treasured it. Never had it occurred to her that it might not be in the most wonderful condition and protection. Even now.
The words echoed in her mind a second and third time. What the hell is wrong with her. Kaylin couldn’t say she could place what those words meant. Wrong with her? Was she talking to her? To Beyonce? The ghost’s eyes were directly on her though…. hm. Standing still, a faint grin still remaining on her face, her one hand still raised in the air, Kaylin stared back at Lior. She wasn’t sure what to do, so her ears just locked in to Lior’s continued words.
Killed it?
Confusion passed over the meister’s expression for a moment. Her eyes shifting quickly back and forth from Lior’s face to the small gecko and back and forth again. Is that what she meant? Shaking her head back and forth slowly, Kaylin spoke.
”Nope.”
There were many more logical explanations and answers that could have been spoken. That obviously it wasn’t hurt because Lior had caught it. Saying that’s why she threw it to her. Or the argument that anything could be killed, but the chain of events that just occurred prevented it from dying. However, this was Kaylin. All she knew, was that it wasn’t going to die. That may be idiocy, but Kaylin had no intention of killing the wonderful critter.
Her grin lightening again, both hands moved up to the hat. Taking it loosely in her hands, she spun it twice and then sat it back on her head. Letting her attention leave the less than happy Lior, Kaylin decided that ghosts must not like geckos. Her eyes settling on Chihiro, Kaylin clapped her hands in front of her and let the hat remain settled on her head.
”Beyonce. You like Sir Fuzzerkins, right?”
The gleeful look only intensifying, Kaylin’s gaze now shifted from the gecko to Chihiro, then back, then forth, in a continuing cycle. How did this girl not get dizzy? But yes. Sir Fuzzerkins was the banded gecko. Not a fuzzball in sight, yet that was the name she gave him.

Chihiro watched calculatingly as the strange thief girl stopped her laughing and spinning to instead stare at her with blinking brown eyes. The look that had appeared on her face was quickly identified as one of pain, but it took Chihiro a few moments to deduce why she would make that face in the first place. She obviously wasn’t experiencing any physical pain, unless she was bloated or crampy, so it was possible she was having a difficult time processing the situation. Maybe this girl wasn’t the brightest bulb in the world. This was made evident when he brightened up almost instantaneously, pointing high in the air and babbling out an introduction. Her name was Kaylin...okay, what kind of response was that to what Chihiro had just demanded?! At the moment Chihiro was speechless and giving Kaylin an incredulous look.
Lior’s harsh tone and chiding words snapped Chi out of her state of disbelief, and the blonde girl watched as her new friend scolded away at Kaylin. Plus, Chihiro was able to pick up on an accent she hadn’t heard from Lior before. It was some kind of American accent, that she could tell, but besides that she was unfamiliar with it. Her eyes settling on the gecko in Lior’s hands, she gasped after noticing that it had been attached to the necklace that was thrown by Kaylin earlier. “Y-Yeah, that’s not nice!” Chihiro chimed, backing up Lior’s words. The poor gecko was probably frightened out of its wits.
The confused look on Kaylin’s face only lasted for a moment after her simple “nope” of a response before she was grinning idiotically once again. Was this girl a sociopath? Spinning Chihiro’s hat in her hands a few times, she placed it back on her head, then giving Chihiro her full attention once again. Oh God, what was she going to do next, explode into jellybeans? At this point Chi was preparing herself for the most unexpected of things to happen.
Blinking upon hearing the brunette’s words, Chihiro watched Kaylin’s gaze shift sporadically between her and the gecko. Oh, so the gecko was named Sir Fuzzerkins. A strange name but adorable nonetheless. Looking over at the lizard-like creature, Chihiro nodded slowly in response to Kaylin’s question. “Well, he’s quite cute…” Doing a double-take, Chihiro looked back to Kaylin with a baffled expression. “W-Wait, my name’s not Beyonce. It’s Chihiro!”

Lior watched the squirmy individual with a hard stare of disapproval. How reciting her name had been an acceptable reaction to Chihiro’s distress was beyond her, though at least the blonde was completely behind her on that this Kaylin character’s behavior was absolutely unacceptable. The young woman heard her, she knew she heard her, but the look she sent Lior’s way was confused. If anything that made Lior even more upset, her eyes narrowing the long it took for an answer. Had this young lady been taught nothing akin to discipline in her life?
Nope? What in the world did she mean by a simple nope? Brows knitting together, it was time for Lior her self to look confused. The albino’s posture seemed to sag, heavy with utter disbelief that any single person could manage to make so little sense in such a short stretch of time. But that didn’t last. Her face grew stern again and Lior right herself to stand straight. Huffing indignantly that she’d been cast off so lightly, she stomped one heeled foot against the polished floors to get the girl’s attention. Cradling the gecko in a single hand kept close to her for safety, she placed the other on her hip.
“Listen when someone is talking to you!” She still didn’t sound angry, but Lior was certainly upset. She spoke with a tone perfect for scolding, likely something she’d picked up from her nanny over the years. If her accent hadn’t been apparent before, it certainly was now. “Have you absolutely no sense of common courtesy? Decency? Never, in all my years, have I seen such a deplorable behavior! Infants are better behaved than you!”
Lior would have strode closer had she not feared for the gecko’s safety. The albino kept in a cupped and tilted hand against her ribcage, hidden from view. In her pause for breath, Lior overheard more of this Kaylin’s nonsense from Chihiro’s frantic speech. Rolling her eyes so hard her head tilted with them, this girl was really starting to get on Lior’s nerves. Red eyes locked on to the highly animated young woman again as her tone grew increasingly more commanding, “You steal, you throw innocent creatures, and you call people by the wrong name? Do you even know what manners are?”
Becoming mobile, Lior walked with purpose towards the two, stopping just short of Chihiro before pointing to the petite blonde and shooting a thoroughly disapproving look at Kaylin. “Apologize to her. Now.”

Totally missing Chihiro’s expressions as they weren’t an obvious smile, Kaylin’s attention was more taken by her own thoughts and impressions. This Beyonce character was amusing! Her words tended to be a bit slow from Kaylin’s outward behavior, meaning Kaylin caught even less of the meaning than normal. Some things the girl could hook to, but she obviously had a problem when it took more time to process.
With her attention shifting between Lior and Chihiro, Kaylin stood little chance at being able to construct a logical sequence of thoughts. Not that the chance was high in the first place, but spreading her attention across the board was not helpful in the least. This was even shown better when her eyes dashed back and forth between the lovely gecko and the blonde girl. Maybe she was even getting a little dizzy…. wait… NOPE. That gecko was adorable and moved around so quickly. It must have so much fun all the time. Sir Fuzzerkins. Should be Funnerkins!
Beyonce’s words met Kaylin’s ears, but not being any words she wanted, they were easily dismissed. Making a light popping sound with her lips, she pulled the foot of yarn out from her shirt and started mindlessly messing with it in her hands. Tying it first into a loop, she started (unsuccessfully) playing those little games where you made designs and pictures with the string and fingers.
What was even more impressive was that Kaylin basically ignored Lior as well. Not purposefully, but… the girl had escaped her mind. Obviously the gecko was of much more importance and even then…. it was just a fleeting thought. Distracting her with too many people ended up with her not paying attention to any of them. Even with Lior’s harsh words, the severity of the situation was easily lost in her mind’s confusion of the situation. Better to be happy and dismiss things!
A stomp brought her attention upwards from the… very knotted string. Eyes instantly latching onto the heeled shoe. It was… SPIKEY. A large grin on her face, the spikey black shoes had successfully gotten her attention. Well… for a split second before strong words met her ears. Though it didn’t seem angry, Kaylin didn’t totally process why they sounded so… hard.
Listen?
Gaze settled, for the moment, on the ghost’s face. Blinking three times, she tried to figure out what the woman meant. Hadn’t she been? Maybe not. Who knew? Then the words got more complicated and the ghost talked longer. Courtesy….. Was that like a horse drawn buggy thing? Decency… she knew that word, maybe, kinda. Deplorable. Nope. Nada there. Infants! These thoughts raced through her mind as she semi-attempted to keep up with Lior speaking. The firmness of the woman’s words somewhat kept Kaylin’s attention… somewhat. But nothing really brightened her quite as much as the word ‘infant’. It was a child afterall. And children were hilarious great and fun.
With the brief lull in Lior’s words, Kaylin looked back down to the knotted yarn and her hands. Seems…. her left hand was a bit.. knotted. Laughing aloud, she pulled her right hand away and shook her left hand violently out to the side. Knotted around her fingers, some of them starting to turn shades of red. She had successfully tied her hand securely in knotted yarn. As secure as yarn could be.
The movement ceased as the hard words met her ears again. What exactly did this ghost remind her of…… something… hm. But her ears locked in again on the words, or at least tried to. Was she being accused? Were these things bad? Was she supposed to say something to this? Wait… was the last one a question?
Nanners?
A grin on her face, the girl nodded enthusiastically and completely forgot about her tied up yarn hand. ”Nanners are good on ice cream!” The girl blurted out, jumping up and down on her toes twice. Then, she lightly scratched at her mess of a head with her yarned hand. ”Though… they’re kinda icky any other time…” Her brain was being completely overrun with the thought of nanners. Or… bananas. Gaze having become unfocused once again, she didn’t quite notice the ghost, gecko, pointy shoed lady approach her or Beyonce.
Her words sharply hit Kaylin again. Jumping a bit, she let out a light laugh in the same instant. Quickly settling down, she dropped her hand from her head and looked to Lior. The stern face, pointing at Beyonce. Blinking again, she looked from the ghost, to Beyonce, then back to the ghost, to Beyonce, and then staying on the ghost.
”Did… something happen to her banana?”
Confusion. While it looked like Kaylin may have obeyed the order, she seemed much more confused and sidetracked about what was actually going on. Long gone were the words that Lior had spoken earlier about Kaylin’s habits and actions.
