Nolan was becoming more and more grateful that it was Dante sitting next to him right now. He didn’t really know that many people yet, and he was only this comfortable around Dante and Lucia. Lucia was nice, but she wasn’t much of a talkative person, so although he could probably talk to her about his worries she more than likely wouldn’t have much to say in regards to advice. At the moment, Dante’s prattling was working to ease Nolan’s nerves a bit. It was distracting from his usual aversion to talking about his own negative thoughts, and it was also nice to learn more about the Italian boy. He was going to be a One Star soon? Smiling softly, the blonde nodded his head in Dante’s direction. “Well, I wish you the best of luck on your mission. Who knows, maybe we’ll see each other in classes soon!” He could tell that Dante was looking forward to moving up to the EAT class, and honestly Nolan was, too. That would mean seeing Dante more often.
So Dante did know Irene. That was interesting, and Nolan listened attentively as the other blonde explained his relation to Irene. He shook his head when asked about Irene’s partner. “Yeah, I’m not familiar with the guy…” It would seem that Dante didn’t know Irene too well, either; they’ve only met up once. What surprised him was that Irene actually wanted to meet with Dante. As far as Nolan could tell, she didn’t seem like the social type. The Canadian crossed his arms behind his head on the ground, exhaling in a whistle as he gazed up into the forest canopy. He had to think carefully about phrasing with his words if he didn’t want to actually reveal what happened word-for-word; he was far too ashamed and embarrassed to go that far with this talk. “Uh…well, I think she might be upset about something…” Ok, that wasn’t completely accurate. “…Like, really upset, and I…I want to help make her feel better somehow.” He wondered if Dante would be able to offer useful advice; Irene hadn’t seemed to be the kind of girl to reveal much to people on the first meeting. Of course, Dante had insisted that he was good at reading people, so Nolan was giving him the benefit of the doubt.

Dante gave a bright smile at Nolan’s encouragement. Between him and Conor, and of course Tori herself, he was nothing but confident that they would divide and conquer their way through their last NOT mission. All the excitement was beginning to make him jittery. Besides, one they moved up to One star maybe he could keep getting to know Nolan better! The prospect of fighting actual monster was a tad daunting, he had to admit. But he was sure by that time they would be ready.
Hearing that Nolan didn’t know Levi made it let out a little bit of a sigh. Call him crazy, but he…really didn’t see them getting along, much less such an encounter ending well. From what he’d seen and heard, Levi took a particular personality type to even get him to listen, let alone not act like a total-Enough. The blonde took a deep breath and buried the thought train before it could proceed. Setting his mind elsewhere, he realized his gaze had shifted.
The whistle righted that easily enough. Noted that Nolan still appeared anything relaxed, Dante had to wonder just what he was about to hear. Waiting patiently as he began to speak, Dante listened carefully. Irene was upset? Without meaning to, his expression softened a bit. He wondered if he hadn’t played some part in that. He remembered how quickly she’d turned cold at the end of their meeting, and how she admitted openly that she was confused. Nolan, in the meantime was optimistic enough to want to help her out, and while Dante found it commendable…
He wondered if that was really for the best. Turning his head to look up through the glimmering leaves again, he looked…far away, but it was simple enough to tell that the gears were turning. Blinking slowly, he tried to determine just what to say, letting Irene and the brief encounter with her come back to him. She was a determined young woman, that much was blaringly obvious. Serious, but in the way that she was incredibly focused, something that Dante actually envied her for now that he thought on it. The blonde lingered on the very end of their conversation for a moment, remembering what she had said, the hardened look that had come over her face so easily. There was a wound there, a bad one from what he could tell, but from what he wasn’t sure he would ever know.
After a long moment of being completely still, Dante blinked slowly and sighed quietly. The expression he held was so tranquil it was almost eerie, though not necessarily in a bad way. He chose his words carefully, speaking in a clearer tone than before as he brought his hands up over his eyes for a moment. “Mi dispiace…but I’m not entirely sure that’s possible,” he began gently, the Sicilian accent vaguely different from Italian, but blatantly apparent as soon as he spoke his mother tongue. Letting both hands simple fall on the grass on either side of his head, he still had his gaze trained on the leaves overhead. “Irene is focused intently on progression, especially in the way of bettering herself. It isn’t a bad trait; it will help her go far in a lot of ways. However, that’s also an indicator that if she runs into an obstacle she can’t overcome, or if there’s a source of stress in her environment that gets to her in a way she isn't familiar with…well…” Dante paused for a minute, his expression tightening for a moment in what was plainly worry. “I hate to imagine it, but if she can’t find an immediate solution to those things, I think it would be all too easy for her to come unglued, and I can tell you that it definitely would not be pretty.”
Rolling up into a sitting position, a small smile found its way back to Dante, tugging vaguely at the corners of his lips. In a way, he realized, Irene wasn’t entirely dissimilar from Tori. Maybe that was why he was as concerned as he was about someone he’d only met once. “She’s closed herself off on purpose. As for why…well, I’m not sure I’ll ever know. Perhaps I’m not meant to.” Casting a sympathetic gaze towards Nolan at last, Dante gave a half grin and bashfully rubbed at the back of his neck. “That being said, it may be best if you let her alone for a while to sort out how she feels. I don’t think she’s used to it and may be confused. Give it a bit and then maybe try approaching her.” Tilting his head a bit, golden eyes locked into Nolan’s, “Does that help at all?”

The way that Dante lit up from Nolan’s encouragement was more than adorable. In fact, it was so contagious that Nolan found himself becoming excited for the other blonde. He loved it whenever people so easily felt and showed others their joy. From what he had seen so far, Dante seemed to be practically the embodiment of lightheartedness, and it only made the Canadian want to spend more and more time with the lovable blonde lying beside him on the ground.
Once Nolan had revealed that he didn’t know Irene’s partner, he frowned curiously at the small sigh Dante let out and how the other man’s gaze drifted off-focus. It seemed almost like a relieved sigh, which was…interesting. Dante was relieved that Nolan hadn’t met this Levi guy? For a moment, Nolan imagined how Levi had to be in order to be wavelength-compatible with someone like Irene. Were their personalities similar? If so, Nolan could see how Dante wouldn’t want the two of them to meet each other. Major personality clash, much?
While Nolan was trying to indirectly explain his situation with Irene, he failed to notice how Dante’s facial expression had softened upon hearing the Canadian’s words. Thus, after he had spoken his worries and looked back to the Sicilian boy, he was now gazing upwards with a far-away look. Probably thinking out his response, Nolan assumed. It wasn’t exactly an easy conundrum that had an obvious correct solution. When Dante finally snapped out of the trance-like state he was in, Nolan chewed lightly on his bottom lip as the other boy gave his point of view on the situation.
Oh…so trying to help her feel better wouldn’t be possible? Nolan could feel his heart sink at that bit of information. Helping others was his thing. It was going to be weird not trying to actively better the situation, but something he would be willing to do if it was in Irene’s best interest. What Dante said next quickly perked Nolan’s interest, though. Well, how about that? Something he actually had in common with Irene: they both were constantly trying to improve on themselves. However, Dante’s sudden mood change had Nolan nodding solemnly along with the other boy’s words. He had to agree with Dante’s observation. She had most definitely come unglued that day and the wall in his room still had the marks to prove it. That’s another thing that differentiated Nolan from Irene; she seemed to lack what was needed to overcome that kind of stress, while Nolan would probably just shrug it off with a joke.
Sitting up along with Dante, he nodded once more and smirked as he listened to the advice Dante was giving him. Give her time…that he could do. And then maybe once the time was right, he could grab Irene a gift or something and formally apologize. He was starting to feel a lot better about all of this and…oh. Gold eyes alert, ALERT. Yeah, Nolan was totally staring into Dante’s eyes again. Oops. “Yeah…thanks a lot, Dante. I really appreciate it.” By now he was smiling again, and slowly the smile began to grow into a mischievous grin. Time to quit all of this seriousness. “Oh, deary me, looks like you’ve got a bug on your shirt there…” He scratched his chin as if in thought, eyeing Dante’s torso and then snapping his fingers a few seconds later. “I know! Leeeet me, oh, I don’t know…helpyouOUT!!” Lunging over, Nolan attacked Dante’s sides, tickling and absolutely going to town on the poor guy.

He was smiling again! That much was good. From what Dante could tell, Nolan had understood and that had been his main goal. If the other blonde went after Irene as she was now, good intentions or no, he doubted he would walk away unscathed. Glad to see a happier expression on Nolan’s face, Dante mirrored the smile with one of his own, albeit a bit more encouraging. “No problem,” he said, waving a hand to imply it really was nothing, but to him it wasn’t. Helping people was something he liked to do and was good at for the most part.
In the back of his mind, he still had that vague sense of worry, though. He’d only met Irene once, but once was enough to tell that she had a similar form of intensity, granted Dante knew she showed it in vastly different ways than Tori. Irene seemed the type to sit and seethe, maybe scold, from what he’d seen. Tori, on the other hand, would just deck you in the jaw. Hard. But he could wonder and worry over how she was doing later, not that he could do much with even that given that their meeting had been so brief.
He caught the mischievous look that appeared on Nolan’s face almost instantly. Oh boy, now what? He’d gotten him good before; Dante could only imagine what he was up to now. Raising an eyebrow, he didn’t bother to look down. “Really? Does this bug happen to have a target on its back?” he asked with a sly grin, letting Nolan know he was onto him, though he still didn’t know quite what he should expect.
And then he made his move.
It only took a few seconds for Dante to realize two things. The first was that he was sitting too close to Nolan to potentially roll away. The second was that he was going to be in stitches in about, oh, two seconds. “Wait, waIT-!“ Making a rather shrill sound Dante wasn’t aware he was capable of; he fell back in a weak attempt to postpone the inevitable and only succeeding in making himself more vulnerable in the process. With no escape, the feeling of exactly how ticklish his sides were bubbled not into laughter but giggles that tumbled from his lips before he could stop them. Too overcome to even get a word in edgewise, Dante could only squirm and try to wiggle away, crossing his arms in an attempt to shield himself and failing fantastically.

Although Dante had raised a suspicious eyebrow and made that sassy comment, luckily, Nolan was still able to catch the other blonde off-guard enough to get his tickling in. The sly grin that alerted him to the probability that Dante was on to his little scheme only motivated the Canadian man even more. Mission: success.
Oh, what a wonderful decision doing this had been. The shrill, almost banshee-like screech Dante had made when he practically tackled him was like music to Nolan’s ears. Not only that, but it exposed Dante’s body even more to the muscular blonde, allowing Nolan to work his fingers over all the ticklish spots he could find on the other boy. Hearing Dante’s futile protests, Nolan snorted. “What’s that? More you say? Well, if you insist…” Continuing to tickle his new friend, Nolan was determined to make him laugh so much that he cried. About thirteen seconds later, Nolan found himself giggling along with the other guy, which soon escalated in full-out belly laughing and he had to fall on the ground next to Dante since he was laughing so hard.
Once his laughing fit had died away, Nolan sighed and wiped a tear from his own eye. Oh gosh, he had made himself cry from laughter. Eh, no harm done, Nolan absolutely loved laughing. But ow...now his abs and stomach hurt. After settling down some more and a few moments of staring into the canopy above, Nolan turned on his side to stare at Dante, his eyes twinkling merrily. He was feeling rather spontaneous today. “Hey Dante, wanna see my full weapon form?” He figured it was only natural for weapon buddies to show their full forms to each other.

Dante was completely helpless, giggling turning quickly into breathy laughs as his sides started hurting. Trying to grapple at Nolan’s hands did about as much good as one would expect which was none at all. The blonde was laughing too hard and couldn’t keep a steady movement, kicking out his legs and squirming this way and that to absolutely no avail. Escape was impossible, and the Canadian soon reached his goals at joyous tears pricked at the corners of the Sicilian’s eyes.
Protesting did little either as Nolan was persistent, granted Dante hardly minded. He was laughing so hard he could barely form a complete thought, let alone speak clearly. Wheezing by the time Nolan relented in a fit of his own laughter, Dante still wasn’t able to compose himself for several minutes after. Laughing dying down Dante lay on his back with his arms clasped firmly over his stomach, residual smile still lingering as he wiped at his eyes with the heel of each palm. Taking deep breaths, he managed to take a glance at Nolan.
Apparently his own laughter was that infectious, granted that couldn’t possibly be a bad thing. Grinning, Dante shook his head. “You’re damn sneaky, you know that?” He didn’t sound annoyed in the slightest. If anything there were still clear traces of laughter still trapped in his lighter tone of voice. As the other turned to him as posed a question, he had Dante’s attention immediately. Turning to roll over onto his stomach and propping his chin up on his arms has he folded them over top of the grass, gold eyes became transfixed on the other, an eager smile painting his face. “Sure! I mean seeing your partial earlier I have a few ideas as to what you could be, but I’d love to know for sure,” he stated simply, “and of course you can see mine too if you want. A blade isn’t much to go on, I know.”
The was turning out to be fun and interesting! It was nice to be able to run into and get along with another Weapon since he’d only really interacted with Irene. He didn’t really know the green haired kid that he and Tori had helped to carry to the infirmary after the bird thing attacked, and he hadn’t seen Klaus in an age. Of course there was also his little sister Felicia, but he didn’t count her since she was family. Plus their usual way of speaking was either sassing each other or consisting of Dante telling her to get out of the kitchen while he was working. He didn't count his dad either, but that was for other reasons.

Yes, Nolan had successfully managed to tickle Dante into tears. His flailing and squirming was futile beneath the blonde man’s strong arms and big hands, but he made sure he wasn’t hurting the other boy or going too far with the tickling. The last thing he wanted to do was cross any lines that shouldn’t be crossed when it came to physical contact. From what he could see in Dante’s reactions, though, Nolan could pretty easily assume that what they were currently doing was fine. This assumption was verified by the bright grin that was plastered across Dante’s face once they had regained their composure. Eyes glinting and his lips quirking upward into a smug smirk, Nolan nodded sharply in response to Dante’s remark. “I most definitely know that, yes. It’s one of my many talents.” He ended that sentence with a silly cartoonish eyebrow wiggle.
Dante’s eagerness to see his weapon form had Nolan feeling just as enthusiastic about getting to show off that side to himself. “I’d love to see the whole thing,” Nolan replied, glad that he would be able to see the entire weapon form of his new friend as well. From what he had seen of his partial form, Nolan was expecting Dante to be some kind of sword. He wasn’t all that familiar with the names of different sword types, so he couldn’t pinpoint that specific blade type. Maybe seeing it in its entirety would make things clearer for the Canadian.
“Alrighty then…” Nolan began, pushing himself up onto his feet with a grunt and then stretching out his arms. “I’ve got a pretty big handle,” He briefly chuckled at how that sounded out loud, and then continued, “So I should be easy enough to catch.” Ever since he and Lucia had been practicing together, Nolan was growing more and more used to becoming his full weapon form. Closing his eyes, he took a deep breath and exhaled slowly, picturing himself becoming the hatchet in its completion. His body began to glow the golden color of his soul and his hair billowed with the force of the energy being expelled from the transformation. Soon his body’s cells had become pure energy, swirling around in the air and forming into the shape of an axe. Once the gold light had dissipated, Nolan could only hope that Dante would be able to catch him in time before he tumbled awkwardly to the ground.

Weapon bonding. A new thing for Dante, but something he imagined would be fun. After all, they got along great so far, him and Nolan. Knowing a Weapon other than Irene would likely do some good, especially since the stoic young woman really didn’t seem the bonding type, at least not now.
Watching Nolan push himself back onto his feet, Dante realized it’d probably be better for him to not be lying on his stomach in the grass for this. Pushing up onto his hands and tipping back into a seated position after shifting his legs around, the blonde scooted closer to Nolan and then stood up fully. It still surprised him how similar they were in height. He imagined that may take some getting used to if only because their build was so different by comparison.
Dante tried really hard not to grin at Nolan’s remark, but that wasn’t possible. The Sicilian did bite his lip to restrain it though, attempting to maintain some visage of maturity and failing spectacularly. Dante at least managed not to laugh and made ready to catch whatever form his new friend happened to have, hands on his hips as he watched the golden glow envelope Nolan. The outline of a human faded and turned into that of some sort of axe from what he could see before the glow dimmed. On reflex, Dante held out his hands and felt the handle of Nolan’s Weapon form hit his palms.
An axe of some kind landed in Dante’s hands. Or at least that’s the first word that came to mind. A muted red handle with white stripes and the same blade he’d seen before when Nolan had been messing with him. Turning the Weapon over in his hands to examine it, Dante grinned. “Damn, that’s cool. Granted, I’m not sure if you’re an axe or something similar,” he admitted, admiration clear in his features. “More hack than slash. Your Meister must do some crazy damage swinging you around.”
And then there was him and Tori. Dante’s Weapon form was meant for the exact opposite form of attack to Nolan’s. Rapiers jabbed and slashed. Hacking wouldn’t get far at all as an attack strategy. His blade would probably get stuck and then they’d really be in deep water. Going back to holding Nolan with open palms held out from him a bit so he could change back when he wanted, Dante looked at the Demon Weapon in his hands. “I guess it’s my turn once you’re back on your feet, eh?”

To Nolan’s relief, Dante had stood up and managed to catch him before he fell to the ground. The first thing he noticed was how different it felt to be held by someone other than Lucia. There wasn’t that telltale presence of a soul inside of his weapon room, even though he was being held in Dante’s hands. He assumed it was because they were both weapons and not a meister and a weapon; Nolan had heard stories of meisters trying to use the weapons of other meisters in combat, some being able to work with it while others failed miserably.
As Dante examined the hatchet, Nolan felt himself being turned over in the other student’s hands. He was practically preening on being flattered and complemented by Dante regarding his weapon form. “Thanks! Yeah, I’m a hatchet, which is pretty much an axe, I guess.” Thinking for a moment, his mind reflected on the practice sessions he’s had with his partner. Lucia wasn’t used to using axes in combat, what with their hack-and-slash battle technique, and thus they had been off to a rocky start. But his hatchet form was small enough to be effectively wielded by Lucia in combat, so there was a lot of promise for the two of them in the future...at least from Nolan’s point of view there was.
Once held out from Dante’s body, Nolan took that as an invitation to revert back to his human form. In a flash of golden light he was back to standing in front of the other boy, an excited glint in his eye; now it was his turn to see Dante’s full weapon form. “I’m ready when you are! Let’s see what you got, eh?”

Ah, so he was a hatchet! Dante could agree that it was sure similar to an axe, but then when the blonde pictured an axe it was more like something you’d see out of a movie or video game. Much more imposing and a hell of a lot bigger. Watching Nolan change back into the gentle giant he was, he looked nothing short of excited. Dante chuckled a bit and grinned, “I’m just a Demon Rapier, nothing too special.” Taking a small step back, another thought hit Dante and he met Nolan’s eyes gain. “Oh, and you don’t have to try and catch me if you don’t want to since I’m mostly blade,” he stated with a more concerned look, “I don’t want you getting cut on accident. Plus if I land in the ground and get stuck there can be a sword in the stone moment!”Dorky? Yes. Did he care? Not really. It would be more dramatic than if he were simply caught out of the air, granted Dante would be more impressed than anything else if Nolan managed that, especially if he caught him by the handle on the first try. Only Tori had done that so far, but then they’d been under pressure to perform so that may have helped. Even so, the worry that if Nolan tried to catch him in outstretched hands like Dante had caught him still worried the blonde. He really didn’t want any accidental injury aside from his ankle. Hoping for the best anyhow, Dante gave the other blonde a wink. “Here we go!” A sky blue light enveloped him and he could feel himself changing into the form of the lightweight sword. When the glow dimmed, a graceful looking sword glinted in the sunlight. Dante’s rapier form had a sturdy but thinner hilt being more of a lightweight Weapon. A semi-guard that generally curved over the back of Tori’s hand twisted in arcs over the cross-guard and around the base of the blade itself to the other side of the grip. With the way it was situated, Dante fit better with a person who was left-handed like he and Tori were. The rapier’s blade was just over three feet long, thinner and made for quick jabs and slashes. The entirety of the sword was gleaming silver, the hilt appearing to be textured somehow for the wielder to keep a better hold. Upon entering his Weapon form, Dante fell into the vast dark he’d gradually become accustomed to. He didn’t fall for long, grounded enough and having transform enough just in practice before enrolling at Shibusen to let his feet touch down. He was becoming more and more aware that whatever he seemed to find a stance on was made of stone, but he couldn’t see it yet. Dante wondered when he’d get there. To be fair Tori had only properly wielded him once against those damn bees, and the last time had only been in performance. Even so, the prospect of someone else holding him was strange already, but he didn’t really mind. It wasn’t like Nolan was a Meister or anything, otherwise that would’ve been another thing entirely. Speaking of Nolan, it was now up to him whether he tried to catch Dante or let him fall and stick into the ground and try to imitate King Arthur.
