Rowe; Lucia; Meister
Name: Lucia Johanna Rowe
Nickname: Lu, Lulu
Age: 16
Gender: Female
Race: Meister
Position: Student
Class: One Star
Partner: Nolan Anderson
A Strong Body
Picture:
Appearance: Lucia stands on the short side at just above five feet tall. Her figure is slender and built with lean muscle that contributes greatly to her speed in battle. Her blond hair is tied back with a pink bow in a loose ponytail, but much of her hair manages to escape the bow and fall in layers around her face. She has purple eyes set in a round face.
Lucia has one main outfit she likes to wear most of the time. If the weather is warm, she'll wear the dress version of this outfit. This dress has long sleeves and the skirt falls about halfway down her thighs. It has red and black detailing on the collar, sleeves, and skirt, a belt at the waist, and a blue ribbon tied in a bow at her neck. In colder weather, she wears trousers and a jacket with similar markings to the dress. Instead of a blue ribbon at the collar, though, she wears a black turtleneck underneath the jacket. She wears white and blue sneakers with both outfits so that she will always be prepared to move no matter what she's wearing.
Height: 5'1”
Weight: 120lbs
Fighting Style: When it comes to fighting, Lucia is best suited for close-range battles. As soon as her family figured out she was a meister, she was trained to wield a sword in combat. Because of this, she is best suited for bladed weapons, but can adapt to other close-range weapons if needed. Although physical strength is not always on her side, her small stature and quick movements make for a girl who can play great defense. As long as she keeps her balance and doesn't let her footwork get sloppy, she can maneuver around her enemy without too much trouble. With her fast reflexes, she can dodge attacks and doesn't always need to parry or block. Oftentimes she'll use the momentum of her dodging to build up fast attacks – typically quick, shallow slices in fast succession instead of strong thrusts and stabs.
Lucia's greatest disadvantage is her loss of hearing on her right side. It's almost as debilitating as a blind spot for her, as she used to rely greatly on her hearing in training when she was younger. After the incident at her family home, she has been learning to compensate for the handicap, but so far her results have been lackluster. Her inability to plan and follow strategy also affects her ability to fight. Since she moves so quickly on the battlefield, she relies more on instinct and spontaneity rather than meticulous planning. Improvisation can make her unpredictable, but it also reduces her accuracy towards an enemy's weak points. Fights tend to last longer than they should because it takes Lucia longer to find a weakness and exploit it.
Personality: Lucia can seem like a rather withdrawn and closed-off person. She keeps quiet much of the time, and when she speaks up her voice is more on the soft side. Most of her problems come from a lack of skill in her own communication. She never fully developed strong interpersonal skills since she spent most of her time in her younger years either with her brother or tucked away in a quiet place where she could draw. In that sense, she can appear quite introverted. She likes being by herself for long periods of time, but that doesn't mean she is entirely unapproachable.
Lucia's favorite thing about other people is their stories. She may not talk much, but she will listen for as long as a person can keep running their mouth. People fascinate her to no end: they always have some kind of story to tell. She's especially good at listening to peoples' problems and their perspectives on the events in their life. With all the stories that she's listened to by this point, she can also come up with advice based on what she knows. Whether that advice is valuable or not is up to fate, though, for her accuracy has never been perfect.
For friends, Lucia prefers close bonds with a few people. Those who do not judge her based on the actions of her family receive better behavior from her, and if they manage to talk with her and gain enough of her interest, then she considers them friends and she becomes more willing to talk around them. The biggest indicator of friendship from her is when she starts drawing pictures of the stories she heard from that person. As for enemies, Lucia prefers neutrality but cannot always maintain it. Most of the time she'll give people she doesn't like the cold shoulder. She'll refuse to listen to them and will often go out of her way to avoid them at all costs. The only time she will ever raise her voice (besides dangerous or loud situations) is when someone manages to anger her too much. She won't get violent, but she will definitely have some choice words to yell, and they're never pretty.
Inside the Soul
Abilities: What really makes Lucia a meister is her Soul Perception ability. She isn't perfect at holding the ability for very long – the most amount of time she's managed to keep it active is about fifteen seconds, and that was only once. Her max distance is currently about twenty feet away if she focuses all of her energy into it. In her opinion, she still needs quite a bit of practice with it before it'll be of much use to her, but at least it doesn't randomly turn on and off for her anymore.
Out of your Mind
Strengths: Speed Quick Reflexes High Endurance
Weaknesses: Lack of Balance Strategically Inept Deaf (Right Side)
Hobbies: Drawing has always been a favorite activity for Lucia. Ever since she was little she would draw illustrations of the stories of the many adventures her parents when they were a team. Now her artwork is not as bright as her younger years, but she still practices whenever she gets the chance. It's a great outlet for her since she doesn't communicate with words as well as she could.
Likes: New pencils/paintbrushes/anything art supplies Stories – doesn't matter if they're word-of-mouth or written in books Hot cocoa Cold weather
Dislikes: Loud noises Large crowds Persimmons People calling her “Lulu”
Aspirations: Although she is terrified and anxious about it, Lucia hopes that one day she will be strong enough to face the witch that took her family away from her. It may not bring her parents back, but she still believes she has a chance to save her brother before she loses him completely.
History: Lucia was the second child of a weapon father and meister mother, with the first being her older brother, Lawrence. Her family resided in a town about two hours away from Seattle, Washington, where they lived a quiet life to raise the two children. Lucia was exposed to the world of meisters and weapons from a very young age, but only the good parts. Her parents would love to tell her and her brother about their many adventures while they had been students at Shibusen, but her parents were always the heroes in the stories and nothing bad ever happened to them. One of Lucia's favorite things to do was to reenact some of the stories with her brother. He always wanted to play the villains from the stories much to Lucia's delight, for she greatly enjoyed chasing her brother around with the toy sword their parents had given her for Christmas one year.
Lucia was eight when her older brother first started showing signs of being a weapon. He turned out to be a broadsword similar in style to their father's weapon form. Their parents prevented him from attending Shibusen for awhile so that their father could train Lawrence to properly transform and fight in the same style he had done as a student. Their mother would supplement some of the training with lessons of her own. This left Lucia little opportunity to play the silly games from their younger years as Lawrence was almost always busy with either school or training. After growing weary of the new rejection from Lawrence, Lucia withdrew from him and tried to find a new outlet for the wild imagination her parents' stories had fostered within her head. She took to drawing and writing, often locking herself away in her room where nobody could interrupt her. Lawrence didn't seem to mind that she wasn't bothering him anymore, and their parents no longer worried about how Lucia would handle the inevitable departure of her brother. He left his family behind and started attending Shibusen when he was thirteen and Lucia was close to her tenth birthday. The coping mechanism of drawing and writing had turned out to work well for Lucia: she hardly noticed her brother's absence. It also made her isolate herself even more. Since they had spent so much time doting on Lawrence, Lucia had grown accustomed to little interaction with her parents, especially her father. Now that she was the only child left in the house, their parents didn't know what to do with her except pay for art lessons and wait for the day when they would learn if she was going to be a weapon or a meister.
Lucia was twelve when she first started sensing souls around her. It was frightening at first – her mother had never fully explained the phenomenon to her – but her parents were absolutely thrilled when she talked to them about it. For them, their children had turned into the perfect combination for a team: Lucia would be able to wield Lawrence's weapon form in combat. Now that they had a common goal, Lucia was immediately put into training to learn how to use a broadsword properly. Instead of art lessons, she had training every day. Instead of going to her normal public school, she was withdrawn and began homeschooling with her mother. The rapid change made Lucia anxious and tired, though. She dreaded every lesson, every sparring session, every run her parents forced her to do. Now that she was so busy, she dropped writing completely and stuck to drawing as her main outlet for her frustration in the little free time she had.
Lucia had been in training with her parents for a few months when her family received the news that her brother had gone missing. They had already received warnings about Lawrence's behavior, but he managed to slip out of Death City before any action could be taken against him. Lucia continued her training, though, in the hopes that Shibusen's teams might find that Lawrence had merely been a victim of some kidnapping. She didn't want to believe that her brother would leave of his own free will, but it was pointless. Within a few months, her family was notified that Lawrence had been found in the company of a witch. He had left Shibusen to avoid detection before he started consuming human souls. While he had been on the run, a witch had decided to take him in and continue providing him with more souls.
Lucia's parents were more distraught about the news than she would have expected. They grew anxious and short-tempered around her until they finally decided that it would be best if she was sent to Shibusen right away. Leaving her parents behind in Washington, Lucia arrived at the academy when she was thirteen with all the training to wield a sword, but lacking the motivation to find a partner to work with. She spent a year doing nearly nothing to further her training and trying to ignore the stigma that came with having a rogue brother.
Lucia returned home for Christmas vacation when she was fourteen years old. Still partnerless and worried about how disappointed her parents might have been with her lackluster performance in school, Lucia kept to herself most of the time during the break. One night she was particularly engrossed in one of her drawings when a loud boom shook her out of focus. Her first instinct was to run. She made it halfway down the stairs before she saw a witch and her brother facing off against her parents in the living room. Her mother caught sight of her and gave her a hand signal to keep running, to get away. For a moment Lucia stood rooted on the stairs, but she regained enough of her composure to turn back and exit the house through the second-floor window in her room. She landed in the bushes in the front yard, but she didn't take any time to contemplate her cuts and scrapes.
Lucia had made it halfway down the block before the neighborhood was wracked by another loud boom. This one was much larger than the first, knocking Lucia to the ground and leaving her with a ringing in her ears that took a few minutes to finally go away. She managed to get up and hide in some nearby bushes, but the action seemed to be over. The sight of two souls rushing by her was the last thing she saw before she finally passed out.
Lucia's parents had been killed that night and their home utterly destroyed. She was taken back to Shibusen to live full-time in Death City. Due to the large explosion, Lucia also lost her hearing in her right ear. An investigation into the events revealed that the witch that had attacked Lucia's family had been the same witch that her parents had tried to kill for their final soul. It was inferred that this particular witch had decided to use Lawrence to strike her revenge on the team that nearly destroyed her. This was the only story her parents had never told her when she was a child, but now everything made sense to Lucia. They never wanted her to know about the truly sinister parts of being a meister, but, now that she had a deeper understanding of the world of witches and meisters and weapons, Lucia was more motivated than ever. After a few weeks of recovery, both physically and mentally, she started paying attention in class more and attended a few extra training sessions a week. Her art style grew darker with the revelation of the reality of the stories she had once loved as a child, but she believed it was a mere maturation of her imagination. Most of all, though, she wanted to know everything she could about the witch that had taken her family away from her. There had to be some reason why she had been left alive, and there had to be some way to destroy that witch so that she could get her brother back.
Extra Notes: makeouts
Behind the strings
Alias: Drasi
Other characters: None
Face Claim: Charlotte Dunois, Infinite Stratos, Lucia Rowe
RP Sample: With a sigh, Lucia took a seat at the far right side of the training room and pressed out the folds in her skirt. A cluster of other meisters were sitting closer towards the center of the room, but Lucia had little interest in joining them. This particular group was not the most pleasant to work around. She hadn't been going to training sessions lately, but she had hoped that maybe today some of the nicer meisters would show up for some sparring. In her opinion, these ones just liked to play dirty.
A few minutes passed and the teacher was finally able to quiet the room down. He gestured toward rack of practice weapons and explained that today they would be working with staffs. Lucia began to slouch as her palms grew sweaty. Staffs were thrusting weapons; she couldn't slice with those. Plus, her height only made them more difficult to wield than was necessary. She was beginning to regret her decision to attend this training session.
As she mulled over her poor judgment, she heard her name called. She looked up to see everyone else staring and the teacher pointing at her.
“I said: Lucia, you and James are up first,” the teacher repeated louder, almost a little too loud.
“I-ah. I-” She looked over at the boy that had been called up. He was already taking his pick of the staffs on the shelf, but he gave her a snide glance as soon as her stuttering stopped. Lucia took a deep breath, then stood up. She couldn't keep the class waiting. The teacher pulled a staff from the shelf and handed it to her as she stepped into the sparring ring. It was the shortest one, of course, but she couldn't bring herself to be angry about that – she would have chosen the same one anyway.
Now that she stood across from the boy, her heart rate was picking up. It must have been luck that she ended up with her right side towards the audience; at least she couldn't hear their mocking whispers. She tried to calm her pulse with a deep breath as she held the staff out in front of her and prepared for the signal to start. All she had to do was defeat the boy in front of her, then she could go back to her corner and observe everybody else without losing any more dignity today.

Just a few things! Her Soul Perception needs to be toned way down as well as meet the canon for the Soul Eater universe. One hundred feet is way too high, especially for a starter. The furthest a student Meister on the site can currently see is thirty feet, so you’ll have to cut it to at least that. How the souls appear to her will need to be changed to as they do not fit in with how they actually appear in the universe, not to mention their appearance differs from person to person. Characters on the sight have their own wavelengths, color, and so on, something you would not on your own be able to determine without knowing of them beforehand somehow. Dion’s soul is Lime Green, Misaki’s soul is Navy, Arlie’s soul is that obnoxious Seafoam color, and so on. A Corrupted Weapon would appear as red since they are technically still Kishin Eggs. Generic human souls are usually depicted as blue, but this can differ. Please change this to fit within the world of Soul Eater. You’re strengths and weaknesses are spot on. Now for the history. The whole story with her brother and the Witch needs to be handled delicately. If he had been acting as he was for a while, Shibusen would have been watching him closely if not having thrown him out altogether. In a worst case scenario, they would have killed him in order to avoid a threat like that. Madness and indicators of it are not welcome at Shibusen, and I can guarantee that people would have noticed that weren’t Lucia. A Witch anywhere near Shibusen also would have been noticed. Soul Protect or no, Shinigami is still there. Ain’t no way a Witch is going to take hold of a student easily, much less persuade them over to her side. Aligning with a Witch also wouldn’t be something that showed on his soul. If he was going to join her, he would just be joining her and in that be turning against Shibusen, which is more possible. He would be put on Shinigami’s list for it and be hunted, but it is possible. However, the soul bit would need to be fixed. A Corrupted Weapon is only as such if they have consumed a human soul. We’d also like you to clarify when she and her brother are at some points during her history. The shifts in between sometimes read like their whole immediate family is in Death City with them even though earlier is sounds like Lucia and Lawrence traveled to Death City with their parents staying back in Seattle. If you could clarify this, that would be great. Her RP sample is great, but we recommend you add a text color for when she speaks so that it’s easier to differentiate her words from those of others. Overall, Lucia seems like a wonderful character and I personally love what you’ve done with her. Fix those things and I think she’ll make a great addition to the site!

I've made all the edits. Hopefully they're more like what you were looking for. I also underlined Lucia's changes in locations in her history to make sure her position is as clear as possible. Thanks for being patient and taking the time to critique, Leila!
If you hadn't noticed, it's been awhile since I've done a Soul Eater RP. Hahaa....
