Appearance: Alex is taller than average, being as he is 6’1”, but remains quite slim at 160lbs leaving him looking thinner than he really is and with an unassuming physique that does a lot to hide how much strength is really packed into that frame.

His shoulders are fairly broad and his arms are long and thin but with a lean, muscled look to them. The rest of his body looks the same; long, thin and muscled. His waist is slim, his legs long; all with the same lean muscle.

Alex’s face is long and thin as well, oval in shape and tapering down to a rounded chin. His hair is a mop of messy brown which hangs low over his forehead, stopping just short of reaching over his eyes. His eyes are a vivid green.

In terms of attire Alex tends toward the casual, tank tops and jeans, unless the situation calls for something else. He favours loose clothing, in plain colours like black, white, grey. Nothing too colourful. His cloths are usually also old and worn and see much use; he will not replace an old pair of jeans if he can patch them instead. He also always tends to carry with him a pair of black fingerless protective gloves which he wears while doing anything physical, which for him usually means fighting.

Lastly, he carries a length of chain looped through the belt loops of his jeans on his right side. This currently acts as his weapon until he finds a partner.

Fighting Style: Alex’s fighting style is mostly about power; power and momentum. He is very aggressive, pushing his opponent and pummelling them relentlessly with his strong attack so that they don’t get a chance to counter. Overwhelming the opponents defence is the main aim for this.

However, with opponents that are too strong or too fast for this, Alex is also capable of a strong defence. He counts on the fact that he is physically strong and tough enough to weather most of what his opponent can dish out, or that his weapon is strong enough to block that which he can’t. In this case his main course of action is to wait out the opponent, waiting for a moment to counter-attack or for the opponent to tire and slow down.

Personality: Carefree, simple yet competitive. Those three words alone make for a pretty accurate description of Alex King.

He is not the kind of person to get worked up about the small things in life, or the large things for that matter. He does not worry when things go wrong, or agitated when the unexpected happens; on the one hand this means he is able to keep a level head when others would panic but it also means that problems tend to spiral out of control because he underestimated them or he just didn’t think it was worth acting about them.

He is someone who dislikes complications. He has simple tastes, a simple lifestyle and a simple, straight forward approach to problem solving. This is fine, when a simple solution would work, but tends to backfire when more thought is required. He is not someone to consider the options or expect a trick; some would call him decisive, others an idiot.

He is, however, competitive. When a challenge is issued he cannot resist accepting. He comes to life when there is a winner to be crowned and a first place to be taken. He takes challenges seriously and a friendly contest is never just a friendly contest. He is not a great loser, but he can handle a defeat with some grace, assuming the contest was fair and he gave his all. A loss in a friendly game he will mostly just shake off and not worry about, but a loss in a serious competition will take him longer to get over. He is not one to hold grudges though, in anything, considering them too much effort to maintain.

Inside the Soul

Abilities:
Basic Soul Purge: Alex comes from a long line of Meister’s; almost every male member of his bloodline for the past two and a half centuries has been one and as such his potential for wavelength control is expected to be quite high. But, at the moment, his potential greatly eclipses his ability as his control over his wavelength is mediocre as best.

Following a brief tutelage Alex has learned how to produce a weak Soul Purge at will. Appearing as pale blue electricity arcing over the limb it is channeled through, this ability is different from Alex's previous attempts at Soul Purge which appears more as a concentrated glow of light in the palm of his hand. This is due to the fact that his wavelength is less compressed and focused, reducing power but allowing for greater control.

Basic boxing skills: A few short lessons taught by Alex's father utilising Shibusen's gym facilities. Due to his slow speed and high power Alex is best suited for the 'slugger' fighting style.

Hobbies: Alex enjoys listening to music. When he does not have other things to do he will find a quiet place, put on his headphones and listen to music.

Alex’s other main pastime, if you can call it that, is training. He is dedicated to improving his abilities and will spend as much time as he can in the dojo or with his father who tutors him. Most of his efforts are focused on improving his fighting skills. Even though he knows he should work on his soul purge abilities he often does not as he finds himself disheartened by how little progress he has made.

Aspirations: To make a Death Scythe. To make his family proud. To not lose or fail.

History: Alex is the only child of Gene and Rachel King, a Meister and Weapon pair of the Two Star level who have resided in Death City their entire lives.

Alex’s family has a long history in Shibusen having resided in Death City ever since his ancestor showed signs of Meister abilities and the family was brought to the city two hundred and fifty years ago. The King family has produced many Meister’s in this time, with Alex being the ninth generation.

However, despite its deep roots the King family is not particularly influential or well known within the city walls. Its Meister’s have never been particularly successful or powerful; many retired early, others died, but none ever had much success with producing a Death Scythe.

Most settled into the Two Star class and stayed there, some floundered at the One Star level. Only Alex’s Grandfather, now deceased and for whom he was named, ever reached the Three Star level. However, he to was unable to make his partner into a weapon of Lord Death, failing in every attempt to claim a Witches soul and finally retiring. He died several years ago when Alex was young.

It was he who raised Alex, at least at first, since his parents were still very active at this point and spent long days or weeks abroad hunting Kishin Eggs. He taught Alex to fight from a young age, determined to prepare him for when his Meister abilities would no doubt begin to show themselves. He also taught him about their family, telling him their history, stories accumulated over the years from his own adventures and those that were told to him by his own father and grandfather.

He imbued in Alex a desire to become a Meister, although it was always a given that he would be one and always spoken of as an inevitability, his grandfather was the one who made it sound like something he wanted to do.

When Alex was ten years old his grandfather passed away, prompting his parents to take a step back from their work and spend more time at home or at least closer to it. Alex’s father has taken over as his tutor and mentor, continuing the training his father started.

To Alex, being a Meister is something he always wanted to do; there was no need to consider doing anything else. While he was attending regular schooling, he would not pay attention in classes because he felt that he wouldn’t need the information for what he was going to do.

He would work hard during gym class, genuinely enjoying the subject and having a competitive streak that wouldn’t allow for anything less, but aside from this he saw schooling as something to fill the time until he could attend Shibusen.

However, Alex was something of a late bloomer when it came to showing signs of being a Meister. At age fourteen, well past the age when most of his family had shown their powers, he had yet to show even a single sign of wavelength control, let alone the soul purge or perception skills he should have had by now.

At age fifteen he was growing frustrated and was beginning to fear that the Meister blood had skipped a generation.

It was during a training session with his father, when his frustration finally boiled over, that it happened. They were sparring outside and his father was pushing things further than he usually did. Alex, more concerned with whether all this training was even going to lead to anything, wasn’t performing that well.

After knocking Alex down for the tenth time, Gene decided to give his son a push, tauntingly asking if he would ever make it as a Meister if this was the best he could do.

Something snapped inside Alex and without really knowing why he charged and threw a wild punch at his father. It was easily sidestepped and he instead hit a tree instead; however, instead of the pain he expected Alex felt… something shoot down his arm and flow out of his hand into the tree.

The bark splintered, cracks and tears spidering outwards from the point of impact.

Without missing a beat Gene said that they would begin the next phase of training tomorrow, and that he would enrol Alex at Shibusen when he could do that at will.

Alex enrolled in Shibusen as soon as his powers were deemed developed enough and has worked hard to climb the ranks since. Although the fact he has yet to find a weapon partner holds him back he is not deterred and expects to find someone soon.

The punching bag swayed back and forth on its hook, the only sounds in the gym being the panting of breath, the squeak of metal and the thumping of fist against leather.

Alex was the only person in the gym at this hour, midday, as the rest of the students were on lunch break or something like that. He needed to do this though; it was a full course of lectures today, no practical, and he would go stir crazy in those classrooms if he didn’t at least build-up a bit of a sweat while he had the chance.

He knew that you needed smarts as well as strength to make it as a Meister but he just wasn’t the book learning sort, he was more physical. A day when he wasn’t training his body felt like time wasted.

A Meister’s job was to be strong. Strategy was something he always imagined he’d leave to his weapon partner to figure out. A partnership was about covering each others weaknesses after all.

He delivered a haymaker with his right that set the bag swinging wildly and stepped back from the bag. He walked over to where he had left his backpack and got his water bottle.

Of course, by know he’d figured he’d had a partner already. It had been so long and he still hadn’t found the right fit.

And until he did, he wasn’t going anywhere.

It chafed, being stuck here, unable to go on missions he knew he was ready for. He wanted to go out there, to prove himself. He was going to make his family proud, be the first to make a Death Scythe, he just knew it.

He just needed the chance to prove it.

He walked back over to the bag. He still had half and hour. Better make it all count.

Just a few things need to be tweaked

Height/Weight: According to the chart we use at 6’`1” and 144lbs he would be seriously underweight. Please up this to at least 160lbs.

History:-A lot of this seems to be focused on his family, which is fine. I would like more focus to be put on Alex, you can keep his background but include more about his personal history.
-You need to show how he discovered his meister abilities. Even if it was assumed he would still have to show signs to enter Shibusen.

I've made the changes you requested. Funny about the weight, the site I used said it was fine, at least for someone of Aex's age.

I don't know if I added enough to the history. It's still a little family centric but it has more focusing on Alex's feeling and the moment he developed his powers.

He isn't going to be able to punch down a tree. Maybe he can split the bark a little but a normal student isn't going to have a soul purge that strong to start.
