The bell signalling the end of the day tolled. Chiyo sighed and packed her things away, putting her pencils in her rose-shaped pencil case and tapping her notebooks on the table before storing them in her bag. Classes weren't terribly hard, but it was difficult taking notes in English. Chiyo had been practicing for weeks, and her penmanship was getting better, but she still found herself struggling a little. It was always a relief to be done. She slung the bag around her shoulder, going through her to-do list in her head as she walked out of class. Make dinner for her and her grandmother - curry with rice - did they have rice? Chiyo made a mental note to swing by the grocery store. In the meantime, she wanted to catch up on her reading. Chiyo had checked a few books out from the library, hoping to improve her English by reading some American horror stories. She had picked them out at random, and wasn't sure if they were any good, but the covers looked frightening enough. In any case, Chiyo was painfully aware of her accent. It was a bit hard to understand what she said when she talked, and she had to repeat herself several times to her teachers or classmates on a number of occasions, which was embarrassing for her. Her face always turned red and she wanted to sink into a hole. She should be better by now - she should have spent more time on her studies. Nothing to do now but practice, and that's what she planned on using the rest of her afternoon for. The hallways were crowded with students, but by the time Chiyo walked down the stairs, the crowds had dispersed, especially by the time she was outside. There was a small grassy knoll right outside the school that had a small tree, and it was a nice quiet place to read. Students were milling around, studying or talking, some throwing a Frisbee. It was a peaceful afternoon, and the sun felt nice. Chiyo scooted out from under the shade and stretched her legs out, enjoying the spring sunlight, and opened her book to begin reading. The title read "Salem's Lot," and although Chiyo didn't really understand it, the cover had been intriguing and she thought the author's name looked familiar. Ten pages in, she thought she heard a commotion, but she ignored it. There were always sparring battles going on during the day. Chiyo didn't really much care for watching her fellow students fight - in her mind, the public spectacle of it all downplayed any real combat training. She turned a page and brushed her dark hair behind an ear, trying to focus.

It had been a shocking day! Well more so for the teachers then anything because not only was Bang in class today but she wasn’t causing a problem. She didn’t fight with her teachers, didn’t give them back sass, and was raising her hand to answer question rather than yelling something random out. The teachers that had had Bang the previous year knew this could mean only one thing. She was up to something. And their suspicions would be right. Before Bang did something really crazy at school she would be a very well behaved student and oh yes she did have something planned for today. After leaving her last class she made her way to the cafeteria but she wasn’t going there to get food. Bang walked in took a tray and then walked out like it was nothing. She had been planning this for a few days and today was the day she was finely going to do it. Bang made her way out to the front of the school with the tray under her arm. A few students stopped to look at her. Most knew she must be up to no good while newer students just watched with curiosity. Bang walked over to the edge of the very all stare case and looked down at it. A very large grin started to form on her face as she placed the tray down in front of her. A crowed began to form as people started to wondered what she was going to do and a few got it right away. She was going to stand on the tray and slid down the steps of the school. Not the craziest thing she had ever done but she had always wanted to do it. Bang stepped onto the tray and leaned down a bit to get her balance. She looked back at the students that where watching her and gave them all a wink. Right as she did that two rockets formed on her back. They launched the girl down the steps as she skated past people coming up them. ”FUCK YEAH THIS SHIT IS AWSOME!!”Bang flung her hands into the air at this but that was a very dumb idea. She lost her balance on the tray and got flung off of it. Because her rockets where still going she didn’t land right off the bat but rather flew through the air like the ungraceful rainbow she was. Bang’s eye opened wide as she saw where she was going to land right on top of a girl sitting under a tree. ”IN COMEING!!”She tried to warn the girl but it was too late as the rocket launcher smacked right into her. Bang rolled a few feet away and laid there for a moment before she through her fits into the air again. ”That was fucking awesome!”She got up now and ran over to the girl she had slammed into looking down at her with a worried look now. ”Hey girlie are you okay?”

With extreme care, Chiyo eased herself into a sitting position, wiggling her toes and fingers. No, nothing seemed broken. In fact, if you'd had asked her, Chiyo was barely aware of getting knocked down. One moment she was reading, the next she was sprawled face down in the grass, dazed. Her entire left side and face was sore from the impact, and she could feel her nose was a bit raw, but she was in one piece.
A shadow passed over her, and Chiyo found herself looking at the strangest person she'd ever seen at Shibusen. It took a moment for her eyes to adjust, but the girl who stood near her was...bright, if Chiyo was being polite, and she always was. Neon. Lots of neon. From the top of her multicolored hair down to her shoes. Chiyo had to blink a lot to take it all in. It reminded her of the Harajuku fashions you saw in Shibuya, or even visual kei, although this girl most definitely was in a class of her own.
Oh. The girl was asking her a question. Chiyo was about to respond when she felt a sudden warmth on her face. Touching her fingers to her nose, they came away red. A nosebleed. Probably from getting knocked to the side. Chiyo stood up hurriedly, hand pressed against her face. Thankfully, it was a small nosebleed. It would stop very soon. "I am well," she said, talking as delicately as she could. She didn't want any speech errors here. "Are...you well also?" Chiyo wondered what the girl had been doing that caused her to run into her, but she had been moving very fast. It was amazing that she bounced back so quickly.
Chiyo moved her hand away from her face, checking, but it seemed the nosebleed had stopped. She bowed very low. "I am sorry, I..." She faltered, but took a deep breath and began again. "I must go to the b...bath-room," she said, carefully going over the words so she would be understood and that her thick accent was decipherable. Chiyo gestured at her face, which would hopefully be all the explanation the brightly colored girl would need. "Please excuse me," she said, kneeling down to pick up her book and her bag.

Bang watched the girl get up slowly and reached out a few times to help her if she needed it. She was a little impressed that this girl could even manage to get back up after being hit by her. Then again she didn’t get hit with Bang’s hard head so of course she was going to be okay. Bang watched carefully as the girl looked herself over and Bang did so as well. If she broke any of her bone Bang would just feel awful! This was some stranger not one of her friends!
The sudden sight of blood cased the girl to back away for s second. Bang couldn’t deal with blood very well; she even threw up in a class once from just watching a leech drink blood and now wasn’t the time to have a repeat of that. Bang looked down at her shirt and ripped a part of it off giving it to the other girl.
”Here use this for now to mop up the blood.”
Bang passed for a moment when the girl spoke she had a very thick ascent and it was one that Bang has heard before. This girl was Japanese! Made Bang had to be like a Japanese student finding champ! This would be number three she had meet now at this school, but off that thought now that girl was asking her something. Bang stood there with a smile nodding her head slightly as she watched the girl try and find her word.
”Me? Pfftt yeah I can take a hit like a champ and bounce right back!... Oh yeah and sorry about hitting you I kind of lost my balance sledding down the steps and well…”
Bang gave a light shrug at that but cocked her head to the side now listening to the girl.
”Sorry? For what? Oh..OH!! Right bathroom! Here let me come with you and help clean up with mess I caused!! Oh my name is Bang Bang by the way what’s yours?”

Chiyo stood up, bag and book in hand, and placed the novel into the main pocket before she took the rag gingerly, surprised. She just - just tore it right off her own shirt! This girl was certainly...something. Chiyo smiled in thanks, dabbing at her face. How embarrassing.
At least the other girl seemed to be fine. She talked quite fast, and it took Chiyo a moment to filter what she said, but she nodded. "I am glad," she said, relieved but confused. Sledding? Down the stairs? Chiyo stared at the tall, steep staircase in wonder. Was this girl crazy or just completely unaware of how dangerous that was? "No person was injured, I am glad," she added. She was sore and could feel bruises forming, and of course the nosebleed was unpleasant, but it did look like the girl was sorry. Chiyo was sure she had apologized, although the bright rainbow girl did speak rather quickly. Chiyo could speak passable English, but she was straining to keep up a little.
At least she could understand the next bit. The strange girl was offering to take her to the restroom, a kind gesture, and Chiyo nodded and began to walk alongside her, although she fell a few steps behind for a moment after hearing her name. Bang...bang? Did she hear her right? "Bang? Bang? Your name is sound the gun makes?" Chiyo asked as she hurried to catch up, confused. But it was impolite to leave...Bang Bang...hanging. Chiyo wondered if that was her real name. Did her parents really give her that name? Was it a nickname? Chiyo knew better than anyone about taking on a different name, but it was very strange to meet someone with such a bizarre name - and her appearance seemed to fit.
"My name is Fukui Chiyo," she said, automatically putting her surname first. "It is good to know you."
Oh well. At least the girl seemed nice enough, although a bit eccentric.

The girl was right it was a good thing that no one got hurt, well not to badly hurt. A nose bleed was still nothing to overlook but it wasn’t so bad that they needed to go to the nurses for it. Bang then looked over her shoulder now at the Japanese girl and nodded her head at her question. She had a very large grin on her face now as she placed one hand on her hip.
”Yup Bang Bang like the sound a gun makes. My grandma gave me that nickname when I was really little. I hiked up in their living room and made two small explosions that mad a Bang Bang sound. After that the name just stuck.”
Bang nodded her head in remembrance of that day and then suddenly face palmed looking away from the girl for a moment. That story must have made no sense to this girl at all. Bang turned to look at her now that she had caught up with her.
”Sorry, I didn’t make that clear, I’m a rocket launcher. That’s why I blew up and made a Bang Bang sound.”
There that was much better and way less confusing than before. When the girl said her name Bang had to pause for a moment and think. She was Japanese and had a very think accent, unlike Misaki who barley had one at all, so that meant that she would have put her last name first. Bang smiled as the girl giving her a pat on the back.
”Nice to meet cha Chiyo, it is Chiyo right? You put your last name fist or am I just being crazy?”
There was still a strong possibility that Bang had made that up in her head and the Japanese’s people didn’t do that at all. It would really help if her best friend who was Japanese’s acted like it more so Bang would be less confused about these things. Useless Miskai. Bang pushed that thought out of her head as they got near the bathroom. She reached the door first and opened it up for Chiyo to walk through. ”Let’s get you all cleaned up don’t want any of that blood getting’ on your clothing.”

A rocket launcher? Then the girl was a Demon Weapon! Chiyo had never heard of a weapon that extravagant before, but then again there was quite a lot about weapons she didn't know. Her father had been a meister, after all, so it was that area she knew the most about. It made sense though - the girl was fairly bombastic herself, clothing notwithstanding, so the fact that her weapon was something so explosive just made sense! Chiyo found herself liking this strange girl - "Bang Bang." As a nickname, it made more sense. Chiyo had a hard time picturing parents that would name a child that in earnest. She wondered what her real name was. In any case, the clarification was much appreciated, and Chiyo smiled gratefully. Despite first impressions, she found Bang interesting.
"Yes, my name is Chiyo," she said, gratified that Bang Bang knew how Japanese names worked. She hadn't thought about that when she had given her name. American names were all backwards to her. It would take a little time to get used to how things worked. "You are not, um, crazy, Bang-san." She wondered if it would sound strange to Bang Bang that she used honorifics. Americans didn't use them! It was very impolite for Japanese to not, though, so Chiyo found herself feeling very lost for a moment. She couldn't just...not. Until she got a better sense of how things worked in America, she'd just continue using them, she supposed.
But that was a discussion for later! Right now, she wanted to get her nosebleed taken care of. Accepting Bang's help with the door, she nodded in thanks as she made a beeline for the sink, setting her book bag down by her feet and turning the faucet on. Blood had never made her squeamish. She carefully rinsed her hands and, grabbing a paper towel from nearby, wet it down and began wiping off her face, looking in the mirror as she did so to make sure she didn't miss anything. "I am sorry to...in-con-vien-ience you," she said carefully to Bang. Sounding out the word made her feel like an elementary school child.

Oh my goodness did she just call her Bang-san? That was so freaking cute! Bang was just loving this girl she was so adorable and so polite. Bang could think of any of her friends that would be like this after she crashed into them, nope not a one. They probably would have smacked her for doing that. But this girl was being to calm about her nose bleed and that but Bang at ease a bit.
When she got to the sink Bang had to look away. She didn’t do well with blood at all and even the little the girl has on her face made her quezy. Bang looked away when she was cleaning her face but gave a little bit of a smile hearing her trying to sound out the word.
”Naaah it’s all good. I’m the one that inconvenienced you and gave you a nose bleed.”
Bang looked back now to see if the blood was gone and when she say it was she gave a little sigh of relief. She walked over and looked at Chiyo with her head cocked to the side now. This girl was a student at the school but Bang had no clue as of yet if she was a meister or a weapon.
”Hey Chiyo girl I got to ask you a weapon or a meister? I mean I already told you what I am and I am just a little curious.”
Curious because Bang needed a new meister again. She was going through those like a fat kid eat cake and while she didn’t know if this girl was a meister let alone if her soul would work with Bang’s picky soul she still asked. What was the harm in that? Even if she was a weapon Bang could see what she could make a new friend and maybe introduce her to Misaki and they could be Japanese together while Bang did… Bang things…

Chiyo looked up from the mirror at Bang, face still wet from her splashing water on it to get the last of the blood off. "I am a meister," she said as she patted her face dry with a paper towel. "I do not yet have my weapon," she added, assuming that would be the rainbow girls next question.
This girl was very forward! Was it all Americans, or just her? But Bang talked very matter of factly, straight to the point, which was sort of nice. It was a change of pace from the okiya, where everything was polite and restrained. Chiyo felt a little rebellious just being near Bang, the kind of customer that generally raised eyebrows in traditional geisha houses, and although she did knock her over, she didn't seem to be violent. Just a little crazy.
Chiyo threw her used paper towels away and, bending to pick up her book bag, began talking slowly, making sure her words were precise. "I do not have the weapon, however I...understand small English. Still learning." Color rose in her face as she spoke, but she continued on. "If you please, can you help with language? I would like become good. I do not understand weapon well, but I try..." she trailed off, blushing. Her sentences were so halting and armature! Being the meister of someone so exciting sounded... Quite nice, if chiyo was being honest. But could Bang understand what she was saying? Chiyo looked nervous, hoping her poor language skills had gotten her message across.
Another thought hit her - what if Bang hadn't been asking about that and was only making conversation? Chiyo felt herself wilt slightly. The first person she had met at Shibusen who seemed to want to be her pal, and she was making an utter fool of herself.

Bang’s smile widened at her answer. She was in luck this girl was a meister and didn’t have a weapon as well. Oh what wonderful luck Bang seemed to have but she couldn’t get her hopes up. Not yet any ways. She needed to know if her soul would be all right with this new girl. Going to a third mister Bang was just worried at her already temperamental soul might lose it and explode over any things now. It already did that when someone scared her she didn’t need it to happen all the time now. Bang nodded her head looking at the other girl placing her hand on her back now.
”I sure can girlie! And don’t worry so much about it you are doing fine. I can understand what you are getting at, at any rate. So that is a good thing!”
She looked the girl over for a moment and then looked back into the mirror at the two of them. This girl was a bit taller than Bang and looks so different. Her clothing was all clean cut her hair a dark color but they shared dark eyes. Bang on the other hand was so colorful they looks so opposite and from what Bang was gather from how this girl acted their personalities where opposite as well. Pondering for a moment Bang wondered if that would work out better for her. Maybe she needed a calming soul to interact with her explosive one to keep it from well blowing up all the time.
”Hey seeing as you don’t have a weapon and I don’t have a meister right now I just had a thought. Would you like to partner up or a mission? I mean it would be like a test run to see how well our souls work together and I can help you with English as well. What do you say? Sound like fun to you?”
Yes Bang was a bit forward but sometimes you just had to be. There was no point in pussy footing around the question and Bang wasn’t that type of girl. If she had something to say or ask she will do it and not give it a second thought. Bang smiled at the girl in the mirror waiting to see what she said.

Shifting her weight from side to side, Chiyo considered the offer - if she heard it right. This crazy, colorful girl wanted to partner with her, and Chiyo was extremely glad! Chiyo was relieved that Bang had understood the general gist of what she was saying, and she did need to learn better English, but would their souls work well together at all? She suddenly had reservations, hesitating. Chiyo had known Bang for just about five minutes but she already could tell they were different in numerous ways. It was quite a gamble.
But...
Bang Bang did seem quite eager and she did help her to the bathroom, a very kind gesture. Chiyo had seen her look away from the mirror, so she had wanted to help even though she disliked blood. It was sort of endearing. And she didn't have a weapon. Maybe it wouldn't be so bad? Chiyo's family had hoped that she would have some sort of sword or traditional weapon, but Chiyo had spent enough time doing the traditional thing. It was time for a change. Her time as a geisha was over, and the best way to separate her life as Fukuemi Aino with her life as Chiyo Fukui was to be a bit daring. In any case, fighting Kishin was bound to be tough, and having rockets - rockets!! - made her feel a bit better about fighting the monsters. There wasn't much that could rebound from a hit from a weapon like that.
Raising her chin and tucking her hair behind her ear a bit bashfully, Chiyo turned away from the mirror and gave Bang a warm smile. "Deal! Sound very fun." She bowed low, holding her book bag down by her knees in front of them. "I hope us many vic-tor-i-ous battle," she said politely, trying her best to get the words right. "May we do our best!"
