Wiping sweat away from her face, Karina transformed the drill bit where her hand should be back to a hand. After studying the hole she had just drilled into a tree with a punch, the thirteen year old shook her head. She still couldn’t go deep enough yet. This is exactly why she made three other holes in the same tree. As well as making multiple holes in other trees around. The hot sun pounded down on her bare shoulders through the foliage of the trees, the white tank top she was wearing not providing any coverage on the scarred shoulders, causing the beginning rosy colors of a burn to show.
She hadn’t been at this practice for too long, but she didn’t deal with the heat as well as some others, causing her to already feel some fatigue. Death City was brutal to Karina. Her rolled up sweatpants exposed her calves and her normal pair of black sneakers covered her feet. Moving to her next target tree, the teen’s hand yet again turned to a drill bit. It spun quickly as she pulled her arm back then punched the tree. As the demon weapon hit the tree, she encountered more resistance than before, causing her to stop drilling.
Her trying to pull the drill out resulted in failure.
“Wh.. Am I stuck?” She then turned her hand back, pulling it out of the large yet shallow hole she had made. “Tree, you’re not gonna do that again.” She could say that stuff to a tree. It’s not like anyone was in the woods to hear her. She transformed her hand again, placing it as far in as it would go, then started drilling. Her face contorted as she found the same resistance.
Increasing the speed and the pressure she put against the tree, the noise emitted was louder than what usually was. She wanted to make a hole straight through this tree. The longer she tried to drill through it, the more discomfort she felt from the resistance as if the tree was trying to stop the drill entirely. Speeding up the rotation, it got even more uncomfortable for her. Stopping it from spinning for a moment, she stood there.
What was she doing?
Drilling through a random tree, in the middle of a forest, for what reason?
For some Meister she didn’t even have?
That she wasn’t sure she would ever have?
Yeah. That about summed it up.
“Man, am I pathetic.” Shaking her head, she transformed her hand back and pulled it out and then crossed her arms. Ignoring the burning sensation she felt on her shoulders, face, and the exposed part of her upper back, she sighed and leaned against the tree. The hole wasn’t even that deep. What was she expecting, to saw through it like butter? That was completely unrealistic. Karina went over to where she had set down a bottle of water and sat next to it. Picking it up and taking a swig of the water heated from her surroundings, she watched the clouds. "I wonder if I'm allowed to drill through these trees," she stated, as if contemplating life. It was almost laughable in that tone.
