“Finally, some peace and quiet” Lourdes thought to herself as she came to the park. She had been keeping herself busy all day and the only time she was ever able to have time to herself was usually well after most people went to sleep. Unfortunately, this was one of the few rare occasions that the sun was still up and Lou had time to herself. Lou glanced at her iPod nano that was tucked away into her pocket. She grimaced when she saw that the clock only read about 5:30pm.
“It’s seriously only 5:30?” she muttered to herself as she glanced at the park. The place was devoid of most people, save for a few joggers but they would soon leave as most people don’t enjoy running or even being out past dark. This was especially in Death City where it was unknown if you should even be out at night.
“This place is nothing like Belize” Lou thought sadly as everything went dark. A few seconds later Lourdes opened her eyes slowly as she glanced up at the sky. She then realized she was on the ground. “Dammit, not again” she whispered as she tried to get up off the ground. Lourdes had a nasty habit of keeping herself busy until her body just shut down or she just collapsed on the ground. She tried to get up off the ground but she could not move her legs. She rolled her eyes, this usually happened about once a day. In about five to ten minutes, she should be able to move her legs again and she would walk home. Til then, she just reached into her pocket and pulled out the iPod nano. She placed the ear buds into her ears and started blaring Linkin Park.
Lately Lou had been noticing that she wasn’t hearing as well as she should. It might be that she is just stressed out with school and trying to find a partner. Unfortunately, a thought crept into her head about maybe she might be getting that nasty defect she may have acquired from her mother. "Deafness" escaped her lips before she could stop it and then shoved the thought from her head. Impossible, Lourdes was the one with the clean bill of health. She turned the music up full blast and stared at the sky. “It is such a nice day today” she whispered as she watched the sky become painted with pinks and purples.

Standing on the steps that led to the building of Shibusen Cyrus looked out over the city before raising a hand and wiping the sweat from his forehead. The natural heat that came with the desert environment was quite the change from England and he was still adjusting to the shift. At the least his choice of black tank top and camo pants didn’t make the heat unbearable. Having just left the school’s dojo he took the moment to rest and catch his breath. He needed to make sure he kept up on his training for whenever he ended up on a mission. Letting out a sigh Cyrus checked his glasses before starting a slow job down the stairs.
The trek was a great cool down after a workout and with the temperature starting to drop Cyrus was refreshed once he reached the bottom. Stretching a bit Cyrus looked around to decide what to do next. He was still new to the area and had yet to explore some locations in Death City. Choosing to fix this he headed out to the park in a slow jog. Reaching the wooded area rather quickly he wandered in looking like any other jogger that ventured through the park.
His attention roaming around the park he tried to soak as much of it in as he could so he wouldn’t forget anything important at a later date. The entire idea of a park in the normal desert climate did interest him but after seeing people transform into weapons he decided it would be best not to bother questioning things he saw in Death City. Cyrus almost wished he had brought some sort of music player with him but was enjoying the sounds of Death City itself. Even in the park where things were mostly silent with the stray noise of a car or animal in the distance.
Reaching his limit Cyrus opted to sit on a bench and catch his breath. The cooling night air was refreshing to him as he sat back and caught his breath from exercising. Looking up to see the sky beyond the trees the sun was dozing off as it descended out of view and the moon rose up laughing, even in its disheveled state.Having an idea he closed his eyes and focused on them, opening them and activating his soul perception. Seeing the souls of the people in the park was an interesting experience and did alert him to the soul not too far from him on the ground.
Slightly worried he got up and headed over, his soul perception deactivating as he did so. It wasn’t a far walk but it did head somewhat expected results. There was indeed a person on the ground but she didn’t seem to be in any sort of trouble. Relieved Cyrus walked over to a nearby bench and sat down. Glancing over at the girl he was instantly aware of the pink in her hair. A fellow individual who appreciated the duality of hair colors like himself.
Not wanting to seem off-putting Cyrus looked over in the girl’s direction. She looked like she would probably be a student especially if she was in Death City. On the other hand she did seem to be just fine as she was with her music and all. Taking a chance Cyrus gave a slight smile and spoke to her to see what would happen.
”Ello there.”
A simple greeting but he didn’t want to disturb her if she didn’t want to talk.

Lourdes had just finished listening to the latest album by one of her favorite bands when she heard a voice. She glanced up from the ground to see a boy, but not just any boy. He was pretty tall, at least tall in her sense with her being only 4ft 9inches. He also looked very well kept physically and had a very pretty face. His hair was the thing that made her eyes sparkle momentarily. His hair was blonde in the front but in the back it was black. Lourdes realized she was staring and she blushed slightly.
“Um, hi” Lou spoke softly as she lifted the ear bud out of her ear. Lourdes sat up slowly as her dress fell like ripples. Lourdes was wearing a simple white dress with black leggings on and black flats. She then stood up slowly as she realized that she finally had feeling back in her legs again. Lou stretched her legs a bit and then shook her head. She walked over to the boy who was sitting on the bench.
“Do you mind if I join you?” Lou asked as she sat down next to the boy on the bench. “I hope I’m not disturbing you” A breeze blew by as it sent her pink bangs into her eyes. Lou ran her hand through her hair and pushed her bangs out of her eyes and placed them behind her ears. “Oh, how rude of me. My names is Lourdes Haven. Lou works just fine” she spoke as she offered out her hand to the boy.
“I didn't know there was anyone English here” Lou mused as she smiled as the boy. “It’s a pleasure to meet you. Do you attend Shibusen as well?”

Well if the girl was responding with a greeting she must not have been too bothered by his presence. Cyrus remained where he was sitting as the girl rose from the ground and shook her head before heading over to where he was seated. She asked to join him and it would have been rather rude to refuse her so Cyrus simply moved over so she had enough room on the bench to sit. ”Not at all.” Readjusted so that the two of them could both sit on the bench in peace Cyrus went back to simply resting on the bench.
It only dawned on him after the girl had done so that he had not introduced himself. Again he had been slow in getting to that point with the people he met here. Perhaps it was being in the new environment that was delaying his reactions? Either way he could not simply allow himself to go without introducing himself much longer. ”My apologies as well, my name’s Cyrus Owen.” There we go; he would have to keep a mental note to introduce himself earlier when meeting new people. Though for the moment he wasn’t making a total arse of himself.
Seeing Lou extended her hand Cyrus did the same and shook it. Returning his hand to his side he listened to what Lourdes said next. He couldn’t much blame her for not knowing, he had only met one other person besides himself who was British. Giving his own smile in return he checked his glasses to make sure they hadn’t been jostled on his way through the park. ”We are few and far between here it would seem.” At least as far as he was aware there wasn’t a staggering number of Brits throughout Death City. ”My pleasure as well. I haven’t been here for long but yes I do attend Shibusen. ” It wasn’t exceptionally odd to run into students in the city but Cyrus still had yet to grasp the magnitude of people in the city. Meeting a fellow student was always a great experience.
