Zia's face was pressed against the glass window to the bookstore, her concentration focused on the books inside. Sometimes, when Zia was bored, she would go window shopping around the marketplace. She was sent an allowance every month for food and expenses, but she almost always blew her budget on new books or necklaces, and this time would have been the same - except for her shopping was already taken care of. A grocery bag was sitting on the ground to her immediate right, full of things for dinner. Since her roommate usually cooked, Zia thought she'd do something nice for the Texan and cook for her tonight! She had everything for curry, and she was excited to make her best friend dinner, but for the time being she was happily distracted by the wares in the windows.
Noticing her shadow on the window, Zia turned to look at the sky. It was much later than she had realized. Hefting the grocery bag and heading off towards the dorms, Zia began whistling. It had been a pleasant day and she was excited to crack open a couple of her textboooooooooooooo-
It happened almost in slow motion - Zia could feel the uneven pavement catching her sandal, the strap pulling and snapping as her hand went out to catch herself. She lost the hold on her grocery bag and landed hard on her side. Apples rolled in the street, the groceries sprawled around her. Zia pushed herself up and shook her head, her earrings jangling as she blinked the pain away. There was a nice big scrape on the side of her arm where she fell, but a quick check showed that she was in one piece. Worse off were her groceries. Thankfully, there was really nobody around, just a couple of people milling around, and they gave her curious looks.
Laughing, Zia pushed herself up so that she was sitting criss-cross applesauce. "Haha, wow! No worries, everyone, gravity still works!" She said, throwing a causal arm behind her head, laughing at her own blunder. Zia didn't mind that she had fallen in public, but she did worry about the food. Most of the groceries - such as the meat - was intact, but the apples were bruised and the bottled spices broke. Shrugging, Zia began gathering things together. Well, it was a setback to be sure, but no use freaking out. She winced as her arm moved to pick up an apple, remembering the nice big scratch she had. Note to self, look up ways to doctor an injury like this in your medical book, she thought as she stuck another apple and a loaf of bread into the paper grocery bag.

Itsuki Kaede Some Nights I Stay Up Cashing in My Bad LuckSome Nights I Call it a Draw Itsu had just walked out of the general store for a fresh pack of cigarettes. His diet consisted mainly of ramen and cigarettes. and he was running low on one of them. He may wait until the last second to buy food but he never hesitated when it came to his precious cancer sticks. He smoked like a chimney and he knew he should slow down but who really cares? Besides, if he was in a fire, he could breathe that smoke like air.
He had stopped in front of the door to the store to light one of the freshly bought cigarettes. He took a deep drag and held it in longer than usual, enjoying the fresh taste of his favorite brand of smokes. He exhaled slowly, the smoke floating up peacefully before disappearing into the sky. He always loved the way smoke just floated away without a single care in the world. It make him feel like if he tried hard enough he could just float way and disappear in the sky. Be the smoke. Beeee the smoke. He closed his eyes and repeated those words, hoping that if he concentrated hard enough it would happen. His concentration suddenly broke when he heard a loud crash.
He opened his eyes and looked in the direction of the crash, only to reveal a short-haired girl sprawled on the sidewalk a few stores down, her groceries laid out over the sidewalk. He walked over to the scene of the mishap and bet over to pick up a few apples that had strayed from the bag. "Here you go." He spoke with a monotone voice, standing up and offering the bruised up apples to the girl. "You okay?" He asked as the girl stood up and reached for the apples in his hand. Some Nights I Wish that My Lips Could Build a CastleTAGS: Zia~ OUTFIT: In main pic OTHER: Wooo~ Sorry it's short~ WORDS: 302This template was made by esa of RPG-D Lyrics by Fun.

Noticing the apple next to her head, Zia turned to look at the person offering them. "Thanks," she said, giving the newcomer a smile as she straightened up and took the apples from him, plunking them in her grocery bag. "I'm okay! All that's hurt is my pride," she added, gathering the last of the groceries and hefting the bag up on her hip. "I might have a few bruises but I'll be okay." Zia stuck her arm with the nasty scratch subtly behind her. No reason to make a perfect stranger worry about something that wasn't too bad, after all. It stung and felt raw from rubbing so hard on the concrete, but it would heal. Nothing she was going to fuss over.
Looking him over, Zia realized she'd never seen him before. The smell of nicotine was familiar to Zia, but not within the context of Shibusen. As well, she was fairly sure she hadn't seen him in the halls of the school. "Are you new in town?" She asked, head tilting to the side and her earrings jangling pleasantly with the movement. "I don't think I've seen you around before." Then again, Zia didn't know many people in the city. He was young, so she had assumed he was a Shibusen student, but she took a mental step backwards - what if he was just a resident of the city? "I'm sorry to pry," she said, putting her hand up apologetically. "I'm pretty new here, myself, so meeting new people is almost a secondary hobby!"
She put her free hand on her hip. "شكرا جزيلا! My name is Zia! Thank you for the help! I owe you one," she added, smiling again. Zia was an easy smiler, her face always in some sort of grin. "What's your name?"
If she seemed eager to know more about the stranger, it was true - Zia honestly didn't know many people in town, save for her roommate, Misaki, and Sin. Three people is three more friends than she'd ever had in her life, but true to her personality she was always up for more friends, people she could entertain and make laugh. This young man seemed to be kind - he did help her out, after all - and judging by his face, Zia could tell he was the best of two cultures, like she was. She wondered where he was from.

Itsuki Kaede I can’t deny, I’d die without thisMake me feel like a god Itsuki casually and carefully leaned back on his heels. He had to be careful about things like that. He could easily slip his shins out of place. The aftermath of that wouldn't be fun. Nasty infections and such. He looked her up and down, she was short. Pretty cute. Looked foreign. Had tanner skin than most people here. He just stared on blankly after he had looked her up, listening to everything she had said. She sure was a talker. He didn't mind. He was a very open-minded person in the way that he didn't really give a shit. About nearly everything. He hadn't been here long. Only a few weeks. He didn't try to make very many friends, or.. people didn't really try to make friends with him. She seemed nice enough and interested. " No, but I haven't been here long." He spoke with a monotone voice. He gave off this vibe that whatever she said was okay. That he didn't care about much but maybe she could win him over. He gave people that feeling a lot. Like they could be the most important person in his life, if they tried hard enough. Which was true in a way. She was a bit shorter than he was and looked a bit younger. Maybe a a year or two. He took another drag from his cigarette, slowly sucking the smoke in his lungs. He held in in for a bit then slowly let it out through his lips in a steady stream. He wasn't much for talking so he just let her talk away. He was still listening but he just didn't feel like he needed to talk unless he needed to. He heard her introduce herself and say her name. Zia. Nice name. Pretty. He nodded, letting her know he heard her. His pink eyes were still fixed on her. " Kaede Itsuki. NOT class." He didn't bother saying his name like everyone from here did. He was embedded with the rule of last name first, first name last. Being from Japan did that to people. He didn't sound like he had an accent, really. Most people can hardly tell with his face as well. His mother was foreign. Her father's parents were Japanese. His mother's mother was foreign as well. so that made his mother look more foreign, thus making him look less Japanese than most half Japanese, or whatever that made him. That, and his height. He was incredibly tall for a Japanese man. When someone is 6'4" you usually don't think 'Oh they must be Japanese!' His left hand was in his pocket and Piebald started slithering up his arm. Peeking her black head out of the pocket and prodding around, only to show he mostly pure white body and eventually her little black spot and her black tail. Not much of a talker, huh," Zia said, mostly to herself. Not that it was a bad thing! It was sort of a nice change, after Arlie and Misaki. Both of her pals could talk up a storm, although this guy seemed to be more of the silent type, more like Sin. He was very calm. Also, very tall! Although she had to crane her neck to look at Itsuki, Zia didn't mind. He was much taller than her, though, the tallest person she thought she'd ever seen, perhaps. "Kaede Itsuki? So, your given name is Itsuki?" Zia's father had worked on several occasions with a Japanese scholar when he did digs in Asia, and Zia wondered if her new friend put his surname first like the scholar did. "That's a really nice name! I'm Zia Leroux. I'm in the one-star class! What's it like being NOT?"
Catching, herself, Zia turned pink and hunched her shoulders sheepishly. "I tend to ramble - just stop me if I'm keeping you," she added. "I-"
Whatever she was going to say was caught in her throat, as she noticed the snake currently winding its way around Itsuki's arm. Zia watched for a moment, bending down slightly to see the snake. She pointed at it, unsure what so say. There's a snake in your pocket...no. Is that yours? Well, if it was in his pocket, probably... Eventually, she just settled for, "Is that your pet?"
Zia wasn't really an animal person, having never had pets when she was growing up, and the only thing she really called a "pet" these days was her cricket, who Arlie named "Esteban." Esteban lived in a small cage Zia had made him, and chirruped happily whenever she was nearby. But Zia had never had anything like a snake. "Is it poisonous?" She asked, slightly nervous.

Itsuki Kaede I can’t deny, I’d die without thisMake me feel like a god Itsuki shifted his weight from one leg to another. It was bright outside. He had no idea how he wasn't squinting. his back was getting hot as the sun continued to beat down on him. He had to bend his neck down a bit to actually look at Zia. "Yeah. Itsuki. I would be a one star if it weren't for my legs." He bent over and lifted up one of his pant legs up to his knee, exposing one of his chillingly artificial legs. His flesh ended at his shins. He didn't really mind showing people his legs. He's had them since he was around 9 years old. He's pretty good with his artificial legs. He's sturdy, agile, and knows how to use them to his advantage. He just needed to know if his legs would be a problem on the field. Besides, if he hadn't told Lord Death that he wanted to start out in NOT class, he wouldn't have met Winterlynn, his weapon.
He watched as Zia's eyes widened when Piebald showed herself. He flicked his wrist slightly and Piebald slithered back to his hand, he moved his hand with her as she moved outward, keeping her from falling and supporting her. She flicked her tongue in Zia's direction and Itsuki moved his hand to his face and placed a kiss lightly on top of her little head. "Yeah. Her name is Piebald. She's a ball python, so no, she's not poisonous." He held his hand out, offering her to Zia. Maybe she wanted to hold her. Piebald was a very well rounded snake. She may have been a few weeks old, but she had only tagged him once. That was only because she was stressed out. She didn't strike or hiss at all after that. She was very curious and friendly. Total sweetheart.
He put the cigarette in his right hand in his mouth and moved his hand down to Piebald. He place his hand one after another as she slithered over his hands. Determined to go somewhere but not going anywhere. Her white scales seemed to glow in the sun, making it hard to look directly at the white part of her body.Music, love and s*xTAGS: Zia/Open~ OUTFIT: Main pic, not shredded OTHER: ~ WORDS: 367This template was made by esa of RPG-D Lyrics by In This Moment

Zia bowed over to get a better look at Itsuki's legs. They were artificial, all right, but Itsuki looked comfortable using them. "Wow," Zia said, impressed. She had never seen anything like it before. "How long have you had them? Are they uncomfortable? Is it hard to walk? What are they made out of-" Zia caught herself, turning pink. "Sorry," she said. "That was insensitive of me." She straightened up, hugging her grocery bag close. "Just tell me if I've said something offensive," she added. "I've been told my curiosity's gonna get me killed, someday."
Embarrassed by her enthusiasm over something that might have been painful for the other student, Zia turned her attention back to Piebald. The snake shined brightly in the sun, but Zia had grown up in Africa. Sun glare was nothing new to her, and she stared at the snake unflinchingly.
"I've never met anyone who kept a snake as a pet. I've seen them - they're all over the desert and the jungle further south - but not as a pet. A ball python? She's pretty cute." Zia extended a finger and carefully ran it down Piebald's body, feeling the sleek scales. Zia laughed and withdrew her hand, looking back at Itsuki. "I've never had a pet - we moved too much, and anyways my father's allergic to a lot of animal hair - but I wonder if he would be okay with snakes."
In general, the Leroux household wasn't very big on pets in general. They did move a lot, but when the family craved companionship, they usually reached out to literature. If Zia was honest with herself, she didn't really care for animals in general. A lot of them scared her, truthfully. She was nervous around dogs, cats, mice, gerbils - she didn't know if animals just didn't like her or if they could sense that she was nervous and so became nervous when she was around them. In any case, she had been scratched by too many cats and bitten twice by dogs. Zia wasn't in a hurry to start volunteering at pet shelters. But a snake she could handle, given that Piebald didn't look mean. If anything, the way the snake kept looping herself all around Itsuki put Zia at lease a lot.
