Kidawa; Zuri; Witch
Name: Zuri Kidawa
Nickname: N/A
Age: 410, appears to be in her mid-twenties
Gender:Female
Race: Witch
Class: Two
A Magical Body
Picture:
Appearance: Zuri is tall, standing at nearly six feet. She has a slim figure with gentle curves, but possesses quite a bit of lean muscle. Her hair is pitch black and falls in tight curls to the middle of her back, kept away from her face with a headband or bandana of some sort. If it’s too hot out, she forcibly restrains it in a messy pile on top of her head. Zuri’s eyes are a bright gold. Zuri also possesses highly sharp teeth like that of her familiar, and a bite force to match. Despite hiding out on the savannah, Zuri is always very made up.
Zuri wears vibrant colors and a whole lot of pattern. Being that it’s so hot where she resides, everything is very loose and has a flowing quality to it, usually. She may have come from a more traditional style of dress centuries ago, but she’s progressed with the times. Long skirts that flare when she moves, others that are slit up the sides, but never pants. Tank tops and bandeaus and crop tops. Dresses always with long skirts, and sleeves are simply not a thing Zuri associates with. She’s also very fond of shiny and expensive things. Big and clunky is the best way to describe her jewelry. She possesses a great deal of her old tribal jewelry when she still lived with the Masai, but of course has added to her collection over the years. Bracelets, bangles, necklaces, heavy belts, giant earrings, Zuri wears it all. She does not, however, wear shoes.

Height: 6’0”
.Weight: 156lbs
Fighting Style: Dirty. That one word alone is all you need to describe Zuri’s fighting style. She’ll throw sand, trip people, and sneak up from behind. Anything it takes to win, Zuri is willing to do. Most of the time though her fighting style includes a more animalistic approach. She fights like her familiars, to be frank. She claws and grapples with her opponents, aiming to knock them to the ground so she can bite and tear. If no spells are going off, she will quite literally try to maul you.
Personality:
Possibly one of the most egotistical people on the planet. Zuri loves nobody more than she loves herself, not even her hyenas. She always comes first in her thought process. How will this benefit me? How does that help me? In her mind she is the most beautiful, the most powerful, the most wonderful being to walk the Earth and she simply cannot stand it when people tell her otherwise. She will stop at nothing to get what she wants. Anybody in her way is torn to shreds. What Zuri wants, Zuri gets. If this happens to be a lover, it won't last long. If she loves you, she won't want you to leave her. Ever. So she'll tear out your heart and eat it, so that way you will be hers. Forever.
Zuri’s most comfortable place is in a crowd. She feels more secure given her pack mentality and given that if she must wander into populated area, she can't bring her clan with her. Without her hyenas by her side, people will just have to do, loathe them though she does. On the flipside, Zuri absolutely hates to be alone. She feel vulnerable, isolated, and panicky on her own. So long as her hyenas are near, though, all is well. Given that she almost never leaves the savannah, this is rarely a problem for her, thankfully.
Zuri doesn't really do social. Any that cross her path that happen to be human are eaten, either by her or by her hyenas. Any Witch that comes along is met with suspicion until it's proven she can trust them or manipulate them in some way. She despises children and can't stand their constant noise and whining. She can be hot-headed and is quick to be judgmental, but can change her mind on a dime if she thinks she'll get something out of it. Her hyenas are her family, and she is highly protective of them. She is the same way with any Witches she befriends, however unlikely given her self-centered attitude and generally coarse and snobbish attitude.
Sway the Soul
Abilities:
Zuri's magic is Insanity Magic, or Deleritamancy. The vast majority of her spells are based on somehow manipulating her opponents mind and turning it against them. She uses spells that manipulate fear, thought process, and other emotions or mental capabilities to win. Zuri does this through spells that include her doing something with her voice. Every spell includes a sound that triggers the reaction from the opponent that messes with their heads. If Zuri runs into a fight and has a sore throat, things will not go very well for her.
Giggle: You know how hyenas sometimes ‘giggle’? Well, this is Zuri’s version of that. She chants hy-ena, hy-ena, hy-ena hu-mor and then starts to giggle madly. The giggles reverberate and echo off of any surface nearby and grow increasingly louder until her foe can’t even hear themselves think. The opponent also cannot hear anything else. Not the voice of their partner, not cars speeding down a highway, not dogs barking, nothing at all can be heard while Giggle is in effect. This way not only can they not communicate, but it also distracts them in interrupts their thought process because it is so annoying. The effects of Giggle last between ten and twenty minutes depending on how many surfaces the sound has to echo off of and how much mental resistance the foe has, as enough mental discipline would likely be enough to think through the barrage of noise. Duration of two to four posts depending on the mental strength of the opponent.
Petrifying Howl: In addition to a high pitched ‘giggle’, hyenas are also capable of a very low, very eerie howl. However, at the same time it is low in tone and pitch, it is also extremely loud. Petrifying Howl is indeed a scare tactic. When Zuri uses this she first chants hy-ena, hy-ena, hy-ena howl and then let’s loose an extremely noisy and creepy howl. The howl terrifies the opponent to the point of literally being frozen with fear. Petrifying Howl has a varying effect though. Depending on the mental strength the opponent has, it may last for only a few seconds or it may last for up to twenty minutes. If the opponent has great mental strength, the howl may do nothing to slow them down at all. Zuri uses this power to bide her some extra time in a fight as well as an escape tactic if the fight isn’t going in her favor. Lasts for one to three posts depending on the mental strength of the opponent.
Hysterics: An attack spell. For this one Zuri will chant hy-ena, hy-ena, hy-ena hysterics. Once she finishes the chant, Zuri breaks into a laughing fit for maybe ten or fifteen seconds. Much like Giggle, the laughter echoes off of every available surface. However, its effect is different. Rather then deafening the opponent, this spell instead compels the attacker to laugh themselves. Once they start, they will find themselves caught in peels of uncontrollable laughter that will not stop. If their mental resistance is not strong enough, they will be unable to break out of the laughing fit and their diaphragm will eventual start to spasm, they will not be able to breathe, and they will suffocate. Lasts one to four posts depending on the mental strength of the opponent.
Shriek: Usually the last spell that Zuri will use in a fight. She almost always performs other spells first and then casts Shriek as a sort of killing blow. First she chants hy-hy-hyena hark. After doing this Zuri will throw back her head and let loose a shriek that would make any Banshee jealous. The shriek is so loud that it can actually affect the organs and cause internal hemorrhaging. However, Zuri herself is not unaffected. For around five posts after using this spell, Zuri will be completely deaf and hear nothing but a ringing in her ears. Therefore, she can obviously only do this once during a fight, and is left completely defenseless afterwards. Lasts one post.
Wail: Perhaps the most traumatic spell that Zuri has in her arsenal as far as her foe’s mental state goes. To begin the spell Zuri will chant hy-hy-hyena haunt. With that done she will fall to her knees and wail as if at a funeral. Like her other spells, the sound of her wailing echoes off of any available surface, but not for long. As the sound disappears, the foe will begin to hallucinate. They see their loved ones, alive and dead, advancing on them. The hallucinations will verbally assault them, screaming and yelling about any and all faults that the foe sees in themselves, and cursing them for the wrongs done against them. The drawback is that the same thing happens to Zuri. She sees her family, most often her mother, as well as anyone and everyone she has ever harmed in her life. This causes a great distraction and can become overwhelming over an extended period of time. Depending on the mental capabilities of the foe, these hallucinations can last anywhere from five minutes to thirty. Lasts two to five posts depending on the mental strength of the opponent.

Wandering – Living amongst a clan of hyenas means Zuri never really stays in one place for long. The witch doesn’t mind moving from place to place and actually enjoys the long runs quite a bit. It gets her some exercise and gives her something to do during the long hours of the day.
Dancing – On any given day, you’re very likely to come across Zuri dancing in the middle of the clan while the other hyenas just mill about. Most of the dances she knows are of the tribal variety from back when she was young, however Zuri can and does belly dance quite well.
Sleeping – As much as Zuri loves dancing and running about, she also loves her beauty sleep. Zuri sleeps through the majority of the day by way of naps. It is a very bad idea to attempt to wake her, as she will be greatly, greatly displeased with you.
Singing – Once again, a hobby that has been with her since she was a child. Zuri’s magic is based on her voice, and while she tried not to sing herself hoarse, she does love to string along tunes whenever she can. Mostly, she sings at night, almost as if she singing lullabies to her hyenas.

History:
Zuri the sixth and final child her mother Akinyi would have after she decided it was time to see if she couldn’t pass on her legacy. A Witch herself, her mother held her father, Otieno, and the rest of the group of Masai captive under the threat of her wrath should they disobey. They were her captive family, forced to obey unless they preferred to die at the hands of her magic. Zuri was like many a young Witch: not very Witch-like at all. She played with the other children because they were frightened to shun her. She and her sisters were treated like princesses, but Zuri and two of her older sisters received more special treatment as they grew older, particularly from their mother.
The girls reached the age where they should have been beginning their transition into women, yet they remained as young children even as their other sisters continued to grow. It infuriated them at first to remain small while they grew taller, but Akinyi reassured them it was only because they were special. They were Witches, just like her. Zuri and her older sisters, Subira and Sauda, were given a place to practice their magic safely under the watchful eye of their mother. But it wasn’t all that safe, to be truthful. Akinyi was choosy with her affections; pitting her three Witch daughters against each other and making them fight for her attention. Whoever progressed quicker or proved to have more damaging spells was her favorite. Zuri was only a few years young than the other two, and so she put up one hell of a fight. The Masai grew to fear the four Witches in their presence. Subira would leave to laze around with her lion familiars. Sauda would swim with any alligators to be found, even if she had to wander quite a ways. Zuri, on the other hand, guided her hyenas straight into the village willingly.
One hundred years passed within their little village. Their mother taught them well. Soul Protect when they wandered near anywhere populated, anywhere they were not familiar with. She brought them with her to the masses, and showed them the way into the Witch’s Realm so they would have somewhere safe to go should they ever need to run and hide. Informative as she was, she still made her daughters fight. Zuri grew into her spells wonderfully, wandering into her destructive nature and beginning to relish her sisters’ anguish at the delirium she inflicted on them. She stole jewelry from other women in the tribe for herself and outright used them as target practice for her spells. Every now and again she would drag a child close to her size to her familiars, tossing them in and watching with a manic grin as they were torn apart. Her giggle started to sound like that of her hyena familiars almost exactly.
Zuri and her sisters were nearly to the two hundred year mark in their lives when their mother passed. She was not felled by a Shibusen team, no. Instead she was bitten by a black mamba, the snake having clearly been placed by someone in the village near where she slept. It would instill Zuri with a lifelong hatred and fear of snakes, but it also enraged her and her sisters. They knew the village was responsible for her death, and so they took their revenge upon them in kind. Subira brought fire down upon them. Sauda crushed bone without even touching them. And Zuri? Zuri drove them all mad with her giggling and froze them with her unholy howls so they were helpless to escape their fate. The village burned, and the sisters left together after basking in their vengeance.
But they did not stay together for long. Their mother had instilled within them a sense of sibling rivalry that could not be reversed. They fought constantly, practicing spells on each other and constantly threatening to go further. They split up and went their separate ways: Subira and Zuri to the savannah, Sauda to the rivers. Zuri was perfectly glad to be rid of them. She didn’t need her sister, and she certainly didn’t need her traitorous tribe. She had her clan of hyenas to keep her company. With them, Zuri remained, free to bask under the sun and nap beneath the shade of the sparse trees. She lived with them, hunted with them, ate like them. The savannah is where Zuri has stayed, practicing her magic through the years with the occasionally conflict with her sisters. She wanders only if she needs to, or if she’s craving more shiny things to add to her little hiding spots all over the savannah.

Politicians had such low security around their houses. They never took into consideration that there would be anyone who dared cross the threshold into their homes, into their safe-havens. Oh, but how mistaken they were in this. A miscellaneous governor looked on in terror as the young woman rooted through every drawer and dresser she could find. He didn’t dare try and move. The two hyenas in front of him were staring at him intently, hungrily. Zuri had given them permission to do so after all. An elated gasp from the corner made him turn his head. Zuri had found his wife’s jewelry box. Thank goodness that she was out of town visiting her family tonight. The witch dangled a gold rope necklace from her long, elegant fingers,
“Such lovely treasures you have, governor sir.”
Zuri clasped the piece of jewelry around her neck and fastened the clasp before gliding over to the terrified man. She smiled sweetly,
“How do I look?”
The man tried to speak but was too scared. All he managed to get out was a pathetic whimper. A dangerous fire lurked behind Zuri’s eyes. He was about to find out just how dangerous. Displeased at his silence, Zuri lunged forward and took the man’s throat in her hands, glaring at him. The hyenas Zuberi and Asha leapt up on either side of him. They had started to drool,
“I asked you a question!”
The words were shaken from him,
“Y-you look very b-beautiful!”
She let him go as suddenly as she had threatened him. Stroking the necklace fondly, she smiled an almost shy smile,
“Thank you, governor sir. But I already know that I am beautiful.”
Zuberi and Asha had started to giggle and were leaning ever closer to the man’s neck. Zuri turned her back on the three and put her interest in the jewelry box, trekking back across the room to see what else it held within its confines. Hopefully more shiny things. Zuri did love shiny things after all. Maybe this would be his only chance. She was only human right? If he could get past the snapping jowls of the hyenas he could make it to the window and jump to the gardens just outside. Zuri seemed to sense his enthusiasm at the thought of escaping. She sneered,
“Hy-ena, hy-ena, hy-ena howl~.”
Without turning around, Zuri spread her arms and threw back her head before letting out a horrible howl. Her voice echoed throughout the room, sending the eerie shiver of terror everywhere. The man tried to open his mouth to scream only to find that it was impossible. He tried to move his legs but that seemed impossible too. Zuri turned around to face him, resting her hand on her hips. Slowly, a toothy grin worked its way onto her face,
“Zuberi, Asha…it’s dinner time.”
