Espen Vivian Losnedahl II
A Strong Body
Picture:
Appearance: Though she is far from finished growing, Ella is still a very little girl. There aren’t many things she can reach—a constant frustration for her—and it’s fairly easy to move her if she needs to be moved. Her hair is quite long, reaching past her shoulders, though she almost always has it divided into two braids. Her bangs are almost too long, and though she likes it that way she often has to brush them out of her line of vision. She dearly wishes that her hair had come out blonde when she was born, like her mother’s, but unfortunately she was stuck with her father’s boring mop of thick, brown hair.
She has pretty brown eyes, though, that are just dark enough that one can immediately tell that they are brown and not hazel, but not so dark that her irises look like tiny little black holes. Her skin isn’t quite as pretty, with her mild case of cholinergic urticarial acting up whenever she finds herself in situations with very high temperatures or high physical activity. And though it is almost nearly painless, she is still very embarrassed about the itchy little red bumps and rashes that appear predominately on her arms and neck.
While her family lives relatively comfortably, she doesn’t get many new clothes. Most of her wardrobe consists of too-large tee-shirts from her brother or clothes given to her from his many girlfriends. Those are mostly worn around the house, though, and she does have a few things to wear to school and other such occasions. She mostly wears light clothing, such as skirts and thinner tank tops.
Height: 5’1
Weight: 110 lbs
Fighting Style: Ella is very proactive when it comes to defending herself. She isn’t physically strong, but she’s perfectly willing to scratch someone’s eyes out. She bites, kicks, slaps—anything that will distract her attacker long enough for her to get away. It isn’t always one-hundred percent effective, but she has found it to be the best method when getting out of fights. Adding in a little boost from her Soul Purge, and she can get herself out of most scrapes.
Personality: She’s a total space cadet when it comes to classes or holding actual conversations with people—her mind always wanders, and she very rarely actually pays attention to what is being said. She likes to daydream, and gets a little annoyed when someone pulls her out of her fantasies.
Despite that, she’s very independent and hates for other people to try and do things for her. If she didn’t specifically ask for help—which she rarely does—then she gets extremely irritated when anyone tries to help her. It also irritates her when people pry into her personal life, like many teachers have a tendency of doing. Adding on to the list of things she hates, she has a very tight personal bubble and doesn’t like for anyone to invade it. No hugs, no patting of heads, no nothing. She hates being touched.
She loves the beach, even though it probably isn’t healthy for her to, and if anyone asked what her dream for the future was she would say that she wants to be a mermaid. She also adores cupcakes, and can eat a dozen a day if allowed to do so.
Even though she has never met her, Ella pretends that she is an expert on her mother. She has a pretty image in her mind of what her mother is like, and has always followed rules and kept herself in line because her mother wouldn’t want her to be bad. So she is a very good kid, and always does exactly as she’s told. She’s also very smart, and picks up on her lessons quickly.
She’s incredibly brave, or she would like to be brave anyway. (You can convince yourself of anything, she’ll tell you.) She often mutters no fear to herself whenever she’s faced with a scary situation, and it tends to get her through it. She also likes to encourage others to be brave, because she does actually really like to help people. She likes to act older than she is, and sometimes points out the immaturity of others. (Though that act itself is rather immature.)
Like most kids, she wants to grow up quickly. She wants to become beautiful, so she’s very interested in skin care. She also wants to learn how to play the piano, because she says that’s an incredibly classy thing to be able to do.
Inside the Soul
Abilities: Ella has the Soul Purge ability, and she has gotten very good at controlling it. Best results come from channeling energy into her hands, she has found. She doesn’t pack much of a punch, but usually a slap or a shove is enough to shock her opponent enough for her to make a quick getaway.

Aspirations: She wants to study child psychology and possibly become a therapist. She wants to help people out, especially children going through rough situations. But, as previously mentioned, she would sooner tell people that she wanted to be a mermaid.
History: Most children are disappointed to get a baby sister for Christmas, but no one could even imagine losing their mother in exchange. There had been complications all throughout the pregnancy, and it was a wonder that Noelle even made it at all, much less as healthy as she was. Three months early, but still dearly loved by the mother who had given everything for her. Rachel, the mother, lived another two days—made it just to Christmas—before she was taken from this world. Left behind was a distraught husband, a devastated twelve year old, and a precious little baby girl whose hospital bills alone were enough to put the broken family under.
Noelle was a very happy baby, though, blissfully unaware of what her birth had caused. The other two members of the Peterson family were not quite as lucky; Aiden ignored his baby sister completely and rarely even came home. The father of the family started taking more jobs to pay for the medical bills and the extra mouth. He also started drinking more, and things just started to spiral more and more out of control as Noelle grew older. It started as just yelling, about silly things really. She left her toys on the floor, or she was crying because of the itchy red marks on her arm. (Those started to appear around age eight, though only Noelle took notice of them.) Then things escalated to hitting, soft at first and then twisting into bruising slaps. And then there was touching, late at night while Aiden was asleep.
Ella was ten years old when she finally told someone about it. Aiden had brought countless amounts of girls in and out of the house for as long as she could remember, but there was one that he had kept around for a lot longer than the others. She was a pretty girl named Hannah, a blonde who was studying nursing at a college nearby. She and Hannah had talked before; the young woman came over a lot to visit, even if Aiden was missing in action. It was Hannah who gave the rashes a name, and Hannah who had taught her how to braid her hair, and it was Hannah who she told about her father.
And suddenly, everything was changing. For the first time that she could even remember, her brother had rushed home and called her by name. He broke down on the floor, and she didn’t know why he was crying but he kept apologizing over and over again, saying that he “didn’t know” and begging for forgiveness. Before she could even tell him that she forgave him—though she wasn’t sure she wanted to—he had taken her into his arms and held her tightly. And it felt disgusting.
She was disgusting. He shouldn’t have touched her. Now he’d be dirty, too.
Everything moved quickly after that. Her things were gathered—she insisted that she could get them herself, but Aiden didn’t let her—and she was told that she would stay with Hannah for a little while. But “a little while” only ended up being a few days, and Aiden had come back to get her. He said he found a new house, and she didn’t resist because the old house was way too hot.
The new house was on the other side of town, and it turned out to be a little one-bedroom apartment. Her father wasn’t there, and surprisingly enough Aiden had let her have the bedroom. “I like couches better,” he insisted. She couldn’t remember him ever being this nice, but he even went out and bought her candy and a little fan to go in her room.
He said he wasn’t going to go to school anymore, and that he had taken a job downtown. He also broke up with Hannah, or Ella had thought that anyway. But Hannah didn’t seem upset at all, and she still came over every single day to visit her. (Though, most of the time she was studying during these visits. Noelle didn’t want to bother her, and just played with her toys.)
Aiden became very clingy after that. He talked to her every day, asking her how she was and what she had done during the day. He also tried to hug her every morning, but she wouldn’t let him. It was actually during one of these hugging attempts that she discovered her Soul Purge—she had just turned eleven, and when she pushed Aiden away there was a tiny little jolt. It was written off as a fluke, at first, but then it became more consistent and he was getting a little sore from what he thought was normal static shocks.
This put up an unusual puzzle before the pair of young adults. It took them a little while to figure out what was going on, honestly. It was Hannah who suggested the possibility of Ella being a Meister—a rather odd concept, since Aiden hadn’t had any prior knowledge of either of his parents being Meisters. But Hannah said she had gone to school with a girl, a long time ago, who had developed a power like Ella’s and had gone to a special school for it. Ella was a bit young for that, though, and for a long time Aiden thought he could help her control it. No one could say he was very much help, unfortunately—he mostly served as a practice dummy, really.
All three of them waited and watched and studied for a long time after that, trying to get Ella to a stable understanding with her body.
Hannah got through nursing school, and had even found a job nearby in Seattle. Her visits became a little less frequent, but much more meaningful. She would come and tell Ella amazing stories about her hospital, and how one of the doctors there was actually a Meister and that he was willing to talk with her about controlling her powers and her next course of action. And they talked a lot; Ella really enjoyed her conversations with the man who was like her, and she liked to hear about his stories as a Meister. She even got to meet his Weapon partner, and the three had lunch together a few times. They strongly suggested that she make her way toward a school specifically for young Meisters and Weapons so that she could become stronger.
That was how the tiny family of two—plus a Hannah—found their way all the way from Washington to Nevada, and how Ella now at the age of fourteen would begin her classes at Shibusen.

RP Sample:There wasn’t much about this situation that made sense: for one thing, they moved a little girl who was basically allergic to hot to one of the hottest cities Noelle could ever imagine. (Though, she had never stepped foot out of her previous State before.) She also didn’t understand why Hannah had moved with them. Sure, Aiden was legally her guardian by this point. But he had broken up with Anna years ago, and while Noelle truly enjoyed the bubbly blonde nurse’s company, she couldn’t imagine why the girl would move so far away from her family and friends and job just to stay with a broken pair of siblings. Aiden made it clear that he wasn’t going to get back together with her—he didn’t know that Noelle knew it, but he had sworn that he was going to support Noelle and that he couldn’t deal with anyone else for the time being. Despite all of that, Hannah still came with them.
Though she didn’t understand it, Noelle was a little thankful. She didn’t know how long she’d be able to put up with her brother alone.
“Hey, Elle! You okay? Don’t push yourself.”
A kind sentiment, or it would be if it hadn’t been the fifth time he had said that this hour. Noelle had to resist the urge to roll her eyes. Honestly, she should have been happy that her brother decided that he loved her now, but a part of her was still bitter about the ten years of complete apathy. She’d known the cold Aiden much longer than the loving Aiden.
Hannah crouched down next to the significantly smaller girl, sweaty but smiling. “You didn’t bring much. We’ll have to go shopping next time I get paid, okay?” she suggested, doing well not to accidently bump into Noelle.
The youngest resident of the new, much bigger apartment only shrugged. “I don’t really need much,” she grumbled in reply. She had her clothes, and a few other small personal items like a couple of books and a stuffed octopus. She didn’t know why she needed anymore things, but if it made Hannah happy then she would go shopping later. Maybe she could buy a new dress, or something.
“Are you excited about school?”
Was anyone ever excited about school? It felt like such a silly question. “I guess,” Noelle answered, though there was little feeling in it. Starting school wasn’t fun for normal kids, and she couldn’t even imagine what a school full of people like her would be like. Mr. Ian had made it sound fun, but now that she was here she was starting to doubt her decision. She could tell Aiden was nervous too; he had nearly dropped like three boxes today, usually whenever the topic of school came up.
There was a dull thud, and Noelle gave a little sigh. Make that four boxes.
Hannah quickly popped back up and rushed over to where Aiden was, gently teasing him as she helped him pick up the small mess he had made. It was sort of cute, the way Hannah still really cared for Aiden. Noelle was pretty sure that she still loved him, even after all this time. She was sad that Aiden wouldn’t let himself love her back, though. Aiden had never done well with the whole “love” concept, but this time Noelle felt it was more her fault that Hannah’s feelings were unrequited.
It was kind of silly, but she still felt that way. She had been taught her whole life that it was her fault that every man in her family forgot how to love, and even though she was smart enough to know that wasn’t true it didn’t make her feel any better.
She had been so lost in thought that she hadn’t noticed Aiden come closer; all she knew was that suddenly he was patting her head. She tensed, sending a glare his way, though he moved before she could push him away. There was a tender smile on his face, and she kind of hated it.
“We’re gonna be okay,” he murmured, in a tone that more clearly said you’re going to be okay.
She didn’t respond. She only turned away from him, going back to rearranging her nearly empty box of possessions. He stayed by her said for a moment longer, before getting up and finishing whatever he was working on beforehand. Only then did she glance back toward him, a pout pulling at her lips.
She wasn’t really worried about herself. She was okay, for the most part. She was going to get better, all on her own. It was Aiden she was worried about. She didn’t think he’d ever forgive himself.
…she wondered if she would ever really forgive him.
There was a sort of lilt to her mouth, a kind of half smile. She wondered what it meant to forgive someone, and what gave her any authority to give out forgiveness. Maybe she had forgiven him long ago, she didn’t really know. She did want him to be happy, or she thought she did anyway. Which meant she was a little closer to completely forgiving him, to loving him.
These sort of emotions were complicated, so she grabbed her stuffed octopus and moved into the kitchen area, where Hannah was making lunch. She could worry about such things another day.
