Vivian Moon; Meister
Name: Vivian Moon
Nickname: Vivi
Age: 17
Gender: Female
Race: Meister
Position: Student
Class: One Star
Partner: n/a
A Strong Body
Picture:
Appearance:
Vivian is very tall for her age, towering over her peers and even some of her teachers. She’s also very muscular, thanks to a solid body type and a family that stressed physical health. She’s very strong and toned, and it’s obvious that the girl can pack a punch. Her skin is dark, her hair is black and very curly, waving to her shoulders in natural waves that she ties up in sloppy buns or ponytails most of the time, and her eyes are a warm brown. She’s got big hips and thighs. Her expression is often stoic, bordering on cold, and she has a naturally intimidating air as well as an intensity that makes her seem unapproachable at first.
As for clothing, Vivian keeps it simple. She wears a lot of athletic clothing, mostly for comfort but also because a lot of clothing doesn’t quite fit her huge frame. She’s more at home in yoga pants and leggings, workout shorts and athletic tops. She has a range of hoodies and jean jackets that she also digs into. She doesn’t wear a lot of jewelry or makeup, having convinced herself she doesn’t look good in it, but sometimes she’ll wear leather bracelets or simple stud earrings. She wears tennis shoes or high-tops exclusively. You’ll most likely see her in jogging outfits, sweats, or racerback tank tops, all in dark, muted colors. She’s never been one to follow fashion trends, and sticking to comfortable clothing she can move in suits her just fine. Sometimes, she paints her nails, since her little sister used to paint them for her and it makes her think of home.
Height: 6’2”
Weight: 190 lbs
Fighting Style:
Punch with fists. Vivian was never trained as a fighter, but she does have a general idea of how to hurt someone. Her scraps in school taught her dirty tricks, and her short brush with ballet didn't teach her anything, per se, but she can kick hard and she can bloody a nose. However, her lack of training means she has no idea how to attack or defend, and she was never a good fighter in the first place. She often came home with scrapes and black eyes, and never got the hang of dodging. It's a miracle that she'd even make out as the winner most of the time.
Personality:
Vivian is complicated. At first, she’s a bit standoffish and a little cold. She can be blunt, although never rude. She seems to hold people at an arm’s length away, and is visibly uncomfortable in large social situations. Instead of seeming awkward, though, she looks bored or even annoyed. She's definitely got a resting angry face, and that coupled with her height and muscles makes her someone most people don't want to mess with, even if she's still a teenager.
However, the façade of unfriendliness is a safety barrier she puts up after years of dealing with bullies. She has a very large heart and can’t stand to see people being picked on or injustice of any kind. She often looks a little sad or even lonely, but those are feelings she refuses to share even with her own family. She maintains a lone wolf persona until she’s absolutely sure she’s safe, and then her true personality is exposed. She’s very generous, freely giving her time and help to anyone who needs it, as well as being very compassionate and empathetic. It’s obvious she doesn’t like being nervous and wary around people, but she’s had too much stress because of rotten people and she doesn’t want to go through the same things at Shibusen. She fights with all her heart, even to the point of self-destruction, because she so desperately wants to keep others from experiencing the same awful things she once did.
Vivian is a loyal friend and a trustworthy one. She may be slow to warm to people, and she may seem cold and closed-off, but she’s truly a warm person who cares a great deal about others and, unfortunately, ignores her own problems. That can end up coming back to haunt her, since she's the kind of person to pretend everything's okay especially when it isn't. She won't cry in front of people and has a tendency to shove her feelings down. She refuses to show weakness in front of anyone, so if she's vulnerable with you it means she trusts you quite a lot.
Inside the Soul
Abilities:
Vivian possesses Soul Purge, although she's been too afraid to use it since she was 10 years old. It's untrained, though strong, and it seems that Vivian must first conquer her fear of it before she can use it effectively.

History:
In 1189, Richard the Lionheart, also known as Richard I, began ruling England as King.
About a thousand years later, one of his descendants was born in Los Angeles.
Her name was Vivian Moon, and her family knew nothing about their royal heritage. In fact, Richard had never known of this offspring – after the failure of the Crusades in Jerusalem, Richard I led his armies on another unsuccessful attack on Egypt. There, he met a woman and had secret relations with her while they negotiated trade, and then he went on his way. That woman was surprised as everyone else when she gave birth to a baby girl with Richard’s fiery red hair. The times were hard for a woman to have a child out of wedlock, and her story ended unhappily. She fled from Egypt to the Byzantine, following Richard’s army, but she was killed in the process. The baby, however, was saved and grew up in a convent before running away to be a painter, and thus the line remained unbroken.
The line settled solidly in Italy, where it stayed until Vivian’s great-great grandmother read the news and decided maybe it was best to stay in America until WWI had ended. They moved to Hawaii, where the family continued to live until Vivian’s mother, Viola, left to attend university in California.
Viola met her future husband while walking home from work one night, when a kishin attacked her and a handsome meister named DeShawn Moon arrived in the nick of time to save her. Viola and DeShawn fell in love and were married two years later.
Vivian’s own childhood was turbulent. Her family was always loving and supportive, but she shot up early and was constantly teased for her height. Her shy nature coupled with her huge stature made her a target for bullies. She stood a head above everyone in class, broke chairs under her weight, crushed pencils in her grip. She had strength that she couldn’t control or comprehend as a 10-year-old.
Her father constantly tried to interest her in sports – wrestling, soccer, track, football, anything to focus her natural ability, but Vivian resisted, not wanting to give the kids in school any more reason to fear her. DeShawn despaired. He knew his daughter was a gifted meister just in the way her raw athleticism was manifesting, but Vivian stonewalled any attempt he made to steer her in that path.
One day, she saw her usual tormenters picking on her little sister Darcy. Vivian tried to pull her sister away, but they were quicker, shoving Darcy back and away from Vivian’s protection. Vivian balled her hands into fists and told the bullies to stop. They sneered at her, asking what she’d do if they didn’t.
They found out very quickly.
It was probably for the best that Vivian hadn’t wanted to get into contact sports, after all. Her parents were called by the school, saying Vivian had started a fight with three students and sent them all to the nurse’s office. Vivian was scarily calm, but after talking with Darcy and translating her older sister’s moodiness, they realized what had happened.
The first bully, a boy named Rodney, had tried to shove Vivian. She was 5’3” at this point, much taller than the average girl her age, and so Rodney had made to unsteady her footing. Vivian had held him at arm’s length, asking him to stop, but this only made him frustrated. He had swung at her. His fist connected with her face, causing her to fall to the ground, and blood gushed out of her nose. She began to cry, and Rodney felt a surge of confidence. Darcy told her parents that they left her alone and circled around Vivian, taunting her, calling her a crybaby.
That’s when Vivian looked at them, angrier than her sister had ever seen her. Vivian proceeded to jump to her feet, wipe the blood off her face with the back of her hand, and shove Rodney as hard as she could.
He went flying ten feet.
As it turned out, Vivian had discovered Soul Purge at a very young age. She’d incapacitated Rodney, who had been knocked out cold, and the other two toadies she’d just hit in the face. Vivian had never felt better in her life.
Her father immediately began to sign her up for every sport, insisting that she channel that newly discovered aggression and strength so that she could better control it. Vivian dropped most, but she stuck with soccer, enjoying running although she was very slow. Her kicks were powerful and she had a good eye, and was a natural goalie. She became scared of her own power, however, and held back quite a lot in practice and in games.
Vivian was sacred. She’d sent a kid flying ten feet, after all. The kids in her class were either in awe of her or afraid, and it was a reputation that began to follow her. She moved to middle school and shot up even more in height, filling out and becoming stronger from the constant sports workouts. She towered over kids, and her naturally stoic expression did nothing to make them warmer towards her. She told her family she didn’t mind, but it was apparent it bothered her.
Viola signed Vivian and Darcy up for ballet classes when Vivian was 12 and Darcy was 9 after Darcy begged her. Viola agreed, with the condition that Vivian accompany Darcy. The two took to ballet like fish to water – Darcy very quickly picked up on the steps and it was clear she’d be a fantastic dancer if she chose to pursue it. Vivian was mediocre, but she didn’t care. She enjoyed dancing. It soothed her, especially since school was beginning to become more stressful than ever.
As middle school began, she started to get in more fights. It was never Vivian’s intention – especially when she’d just seen someone being menaced. Her big heart wouldn’t let her stand by and just watch, but her reputation meant that the bullies were more interested in trading blows than words. Vivian won, mostly because she was solid and could take more hits than the bullies had strength to land on her. They’d stalk off if she was lucky, or they’d all be pulled in to the dean’s office if she wasn’t.
Vivian gave up. “If they want me to be this mysterious rebel, so be it,” she thought. She hadn’t cried since that day she fought the bullies for her sister. The only time she felt she could really relax was the ballet classes she took with her sister. There, she could relax, lose herself in music and something that wasn’t competitive and aggressive. She wasn’t a giant among the other dancers, either, so she felt less like a freak. It was a small comfort. Darcy and her would practice for hours, Darcy trying to help Vivian do anything resembling the splits and Vivian being unable to raise her leg higher than her waist.
By the time she got to high school, the teachers were wary of Vivian because of her status as an “unruly student,” and her classmates gave her a wide berth because they were afraid of her. She’d been six feet tall since fifteen years old, and although she only fought in self-defense or for the sake of someone else, she was a problem kid. Scary. Intimidating. Her father knew she’d never do well in public school.
DeShawn and Viola sat Vivian down, asking her if she’d like to go to a school where she’d be able to learn to fight, to control her strength, to meet people like her and her father, and most importantly, to learn to use Soul Purge, which Vivian hadn’t used since she was 10 out of fear of what it did. Her father assured her that it was a perfect place for her.
Vivian was, at first, hesitant, but the lure of a school where she wouldn’t be abnormal was incredibly tempting. She didn’t even need to sleep on it – four hours after her parents had approached her with the idea of attending Shibusen, Vivian had agreed, her bags already packed.
After all, it was worth a try.
Extra Notes:
Due to her ancestry, Vivian possesses a Crusader Soul. She has no knowledge of this or it's power, but if trained effectively, it would grant her a special anti-magic wavelength that would be effective against witches.

Face Claim: America Chavez from Young Avengers
RP Sample:
It was hot in Nevada, which made Vivian think of home. That was nice. She wasn’t sure if she’d be able to fly out somewhere snowy for school. The homesickness was enough without having to adapt to an entirely new climate zone.
Death City wasn’t the same kind of hot as Los Angeles, though. It was dryer and more personal. When the wind blew up, Vivian swore it was like standing in front of a huge hairdryer, say nothing of what it did to her hair. The heat was making it awful, and it hadn’t been easy to tame before.
Vivian stared at the water bottle in her hands, enjoying the cold sensation on her hands as she sat on the bench in the park. She’d been running earlier, but the heat was even too much for a native Californian. If she was being honest with herself, she was really just killing time before she headed back to the dorms.
Vivian hadn’t met any of her neighbors yet, and she hadn’t been assigned a roommate so far. She’d heard the admin mutter about odd numbers, but Vivian had assured her she didn’t mind. There was a fragile sort of bubble around Shibusen, and Vivian worried that the good time she was having wasn’t going to last long. That bubble was sure to pop sooner or later. Maybe she’d get a roommate who called her names behind her back, picking at her height. Maybe she’d be sat in the front of the class, and everyone would mutter darkly at her, even when she hunched lower in her seat so they could see the board. Maybe they’d try start a fight.
Vivian wasn’t sure if fights here were the same as in other schools, but she didn’t want to get her hopes up. She’d been disappointed by schools before, and she was going to be cautious. Better to keep expectations low than have them crushed.
