The dojo was mostly silent right now. Made sense. It was a bit early, classes not even having started yet. The silence would be welcoming to some, though. Meisters often frequented the dojo to brush up on their skills, so it got rather busy at certain times of the day. Don’t like working out when you’re being watched? Tough luck, hun. Best skip some classes or wake up early.
The silence of the almost empty dojo was suddenly cut off by a yell.
”AGH!”
The yell was clearly a cry of pain. Not too uncommon. Most people might not even bat an eye at the noise. Meisters hurting themselves with the weapon they wielded or unskilled weapons hurting themselves with their own partial weapon form. Not uncommon at all. The person who had cried out was clearly a meister, judging by how none of their limbs took on a bladed form or something similar.
A girl dressed in green had hunched herself over, though she still stood. She clutched onto her right side. Stella had ignored the advice the doctor had given her. No physical activity for a few weeks? Please. Stella wasn’t one to just sit around and do nothing because of a little scratch.
Perhaps “little scratch” wasn’t the best description of the injury Stella had sustained. She had almost been cut in half. Damn kishin... That wendigo-esk one had ticked her off. She wanted to kill more of those damn things! Couldn’t do that if she was out of practise. Stella had been trying to sharpen up her technique with some butterfly swords similar to the weapon form of her partner, but those had fallen to the floor now.
After a moment or two of remaining hunched over, Stella forced herself to stand up straight. She pushed back the red hair that had fallen over her face and shook her head. With a sigh, the girl spoke in a low voice. ”Perhaps I shouldn’t push myself so much...”
Stella was just hoping no one wanted to make sure she was alright. The girl didn’t particularly like confrontation. Oh, she could deal with it, of course. She’d just be a meanie to whoever it was until they went away. She just wasn’t in the mood to.

Uhhg, Sable was so tired. Classes hadn't even started yet so just why was a person like Sable up and around school so early? For training of course. Practicing her skills in the dojo was really the only part of going to Shibusen she enjoyed. It was much better than sitting in a classroom surrounded either by meathead idiots or know-it-all teacher's pets. All while listening to the teacher go on and on about "teamwork" or "trusting your partner." Sable had no need for such nonsense.
No, instead the girl would rather hone her skills against the training dummies. She could probably have just stayed home and waited until later in the day to start training but then she'd have to deal with all the other students getting in her way. Plus it was way more relaxing to just wail on the dummies without anyone bothering her.
As Sable entered the dojo she heard a loud scream. Great someone was here. That someone was also clearly in pain. Once she traveled further into the dojo she saw a girl in green hunched over while clutching her side. Sable rolled her eyes. If someone hurt themselves that bad during simple training then they would never last against an actual enemy. It was people like this that made Sable hate the student body at Shibusen.
The red haired girl would probably expect Sable to help her up so she stayed back a bit. It seemed to work too as the girl didn't even noticed Sable. Once she had recovered Sable finally decided to walk in, making a rather rude comment in the process. "What's wrong princess, chip a nail?"
Going by her appearance, as well as the fact that she somehow managed to hurt herself while all alone, Sable assumed this person was not all that tough. Probably just some preppy little brat that didn't know the first thing about combat. "It's alright, you can cry about it later while you and your girlfriends get makeovers at the mall." Sable said in a sarcastic, patronizing voice.
She scoffed at the girl as she walked away. How did these types of people even get accepted into the school in the first place?

As Stella shook her head as to allow her hair to naturally fall into place, she heard a voice behind her. Stella wasn’t jumpy, fortunately. How rude of someone to sneak up on her like that. And with cruel words too. Picking a fight, were we? Pathetic. Stella clearly was not up to such a challenge. Not that she’d turn it down, of course...
Stella didn’t bother turning around right away. That’d just make her look scared. She’d have a far more intimidating presence if she kept her cool, right? She was good at that by this point. So, Stella picked up one of the two butterfly swords, then the other one. She then stood up straight again, and turned around to face the girl with blue hair.
First, Stella made eye contact. Then, her eyes flickered down to size up the girl then back to eye contact. Kinda intimidating. The girl looked far more physically capable than Stella was. Despite being a bit scared, Stella’s facial expression and body movements showed none of that. She looked at Sable as if she were a mere annoyance. Like a pest or something.
After Sable had spoken her last sentence and looked to be going away, Stella twirled the sword in her right hand around so it was pointed at Sable. She raised that hand to be pointing at Sable’s throat, then shifted her body wait to make herself seem even more confident. ”I’m sorry, sweetie. Not going to one of those. But if I was I’d be sure to let you go in my place...” A small smile pried at the edges of Stella’s mouth as she flicked the sword back into the way it had been before again. ”It’s obvious you need it more than me, after all!”
Stella did her best to suppress her laughter there. She didn’t do too well. It was a good line. But, hey. If you were going to be rude to her, best expect her to be rude right back! The Sable chick was leaving, but Stella was going to do that thing already. Regardless of whether or not Sable had turned around to look at her, Stella made her way to exit the dojo.

It seemed like Stella didn't think too highly of Sable, going by the disgusted expression on her face. Granted it wasn't like Sable was Stella's biggest fan either. She noticed Stella's eyes looking down for a second as if she was trying to get a read on Sable. Surely this weak girl didn't think she'd be able to take someone like Sable on, right? The thought was just downright absurd and frankly rather arrogant on her part.
The two had only just met and already they were getting on each other's last nerve. Stella's next comment didn't help matters either. Sable's eyes grew wide. What did that prissy little redhead just say? When she turned around she found that Stella was pointing one of her swords at Sable's throat and wore a small smile on her face. After another equally annoying comment the girl turned around to leave. What's worse she seemed like she was trying to hide a laugh and doing a very poor job of it.
Sable narrowed her eyes as she watched Stella leave. Did this girl think she was clever or something? Perhaps Sable was wrong, whoever this person was seemed to have a lot more confidence than originally thought. Though she was still just as irritating. Sable wasn't just going to let this girl go either. Not after that little remark. "And where do you think you're going?" Sable asked as she started to walk after Stella. "You really think I'm just gonna let that "clever" little comment slide?" Sable spoke with a tinge of anger in her voice. "I bet you feel real proud about that, huh? Well then..."
At that moment Sable activated her partial form and her right forearm suddenly transformed into a blade. A naginata blade to be exact. "Care to put your money where your mouth is?"

The blue haired girl did not look very happy. That made sense. Stella’s insults were far better than that of the rude girl who could not mind her own business. Sable hadn’t made a very good first impression on Stella. And, first impressions were everything! The girl clearly didn’t know this. If she did, she’d conduct herself in a much more civilized manner. Hmpft. What an idiot this blue haired girl was.
When Stella turned to walk away, the Sable girl did not let her. She asked Stella where on earth it was she was going, to which Stella quickly replied. ”I already told you, didn’t I? Not the mall. Sheesh. Pay attention.” Stella paused in her steps, as Sable continued to speak. She was clearly agitated by Stella’s words. Clearly the blue haired girl was unaware that this attitude only made her look even more pathetic! Now if only Cecil was here. The two of them could laugh at the girl together.
Stella had moved both of the swords so that she held them both in her right hand. This allowed her to easily use her left to flick her hair over her shoulder as she turned around. An action that simply boasted arrogance. She didn’t bother replying to the rest of Sable’s remarks. They were just asking Stella if she was proud of her clever remarks. The answer to that should be obvious.
It was Sable’s last question that actually got a response from Stella. Which was a confused look. ”I don’t ever remember saying I could best you in combat, sweetie. You’re jumping to conclusions.” Stella said. She shifted the swords to actually be holding them properly, then closed her eyes and tilted her head back slightly in yet another confident gesture. ”I’d never dream of challenging someone such as yourself to combat. Your type tends to be embarrassed when I run rings around them. However...”
With that, Stella opened her eyes again to look at Sable. Another smirk spread across her lips. She glanced at the blade Sable’s forearm had transformed into. ”You intend to fight a training weapon with a partial demon weapon form? That’s quite humorous. Do you generally like to make sure your opponent has a distinct handicap? Not that that would surprise me.” Stella brought her left sword to rest by her side, then raised the right to point at Sable. Offensively, not defensively. Even so Stella had no intention to initiate any attacks. Fighting right now was a bad idea, but she couldn’t just turn down a challenge! This’d be easy anyway. ”I really don’t think that’s enough of a handicap, though. So I’ll give you the first attack.”
After these words, Stella gave a small curtsy.

Sable growled quietly. This redheaded girl was just so full of herself it was disgusting. It was like she was going out of her way to get under Sable's skin. She rolled her eyes as Stella gave her hair a flip as she turned around to face Sable once again. Now Sable was certain this girl was doing it on purpose. Stella then started talking with the same condescending tone she had been using the entire time. She claimed that Sable was jumping to conclusions and that she could run rings around "her type."
Sable had just about enough by now. She felt as if steam was going to burst from her ears out of sheer anger. After a few more sarcastic quips Stella gave Sable the first move. But not before preforming a snide little curtsy. "Well if you're gonna be like that then lets make this a little more...Interesting? Sable said as a small smile formed on her lips. Since you are just so sure you can win how about the loser gets a job at the maid café. Let's say about two months at least? Oh and of course they must be extra polite if the other person ever decides to come in and have a drink. She talked with the same type of annoying, passive aggressive tone that her soon to be opponent used just moments ago.
All that sound good to you? Sable asked. It wasn't like Sable to make bets like this, certainly not before a fight. Usually beating the crap out of the other person was an award in and of itself but something about this Stella girl just really grinded Sable's gears. She needed a way to put this arrogant little girl in her place for good. Serving as a maid at the local café felt fitting. Maybe she'd even learn a few manners while she was there.

Did Stella hear a growl there? Oh, that was amusing. Did people even growl? Hm. She’d make a joke about the girl acting like a dog, but that’d be just a bit too tasteless. Stella needed to keep up a more classy look right about now, to contrast this annoying person’s whole act she was trying to keep up. A rude, tough girl one. How unoriginal.
Next up the girl proposed a bet. Again, how like that whole tough girl stereotype she seemed to be playing by. The bet was that the loser of the fight she had proposed earlier had to work at the maid cafe. Oh yea, the place with the coffee Stella didn’t care for. Their outfits were really cute. Honestly, Stella wouldn’t mind having to work there. Plus, she could only imagine the look on Sable’s face if she managed to be completely polite to her.
But... she couldn’t let the girl know that she really wouldn’t mind getting a job. Honestly, she’d mind more having to choke down their awful coffee. Again. Sure, it wasn’t the worst, but... She’d pass. She wasn’t going to turn down a bet for such a silly reason. They probably had pastries or something.
”Adding insult to your own injury? You’re very odd.” Stella said, followed by a quick, all-knowing nod. ”Very well, I’ll accept your bet and apologize in advance. Now...” Stella raised one of the swords to her chest and the other in an offensive position. ”Come at me. Unless you’re too scared, of course.”
