Hawthorne; Cassandra; Witch
Name: Cassandra Hawthorne
Nickname: Cassie
Age: 337 (Appears 24)
Gender: Female
Race: Witch
Class: Two Star
A Magical Body
Picture:
Appearance: Cassandra has an appearance that is striking in many ways; from her flaming red hair, to her vibrant red eyes, to her pretty face, to her distinctive eye patch, she is someone who, seen once, is not easily forgotten.
She is of average height, so is a little too tall to call petite, but has a slender figure and her arms and wrists are slim and her hands are small. Her face is round though her chin ends in a point; her red eyes are large and expressive while he nose and lips are thin.
Cassandra’s hair, a deep and vivid red in colour, is long and reaches most of the way down her back; she likes to keep it down and free, though she does get a little annoyed with it at times and she may tie if back if it is getting in the way. Whatever style she wears it in however she always leaves her fringe in place, hanging as it does so that it partially covers her right eye.
In terms of clothing Cassandra tends to prefer casual and comfortable clothing over anything else. She favours clothing which is soft, thick and warm and no matter what she is always wearing at least one article of clothing which is pink in colour.
There is also, of course, her eye patch. Her right eye is always covered by a patch, usually one of plain brown leather made of a thick strap running diagonally across her face with a thicker section covering her eye, though she has others.
Whatever she wears though Cassandra always wears clothing which covers almost every inch of her skin; only her face and her hands are left uncovered. The reason for this is not modesty however, at least not modesty for the usual reasons. The fact is that most of Cassandra’s body, especially her torso, is covered with scars.
These scars and the injury which causes her to need an eye patch are the result of a battle which took place long in the past. She keeps her body hidden so the exact extent of these scars is unknown to anyone other than herself, but while most can tell that she bears past injuries from her eye patch and the way she moves most would be surprised by the degree to which she is marked.
In addition to her clothing Cassandra possesses a sword; whether this sword is called a rapier or a side-sword depends on your preference, Cassandra thinks of it as a rapier, but for simplicities sake it is a straight-bladed, two-edged, single-handed sword with a decorated blade and a hand guard around the hilt.
Height: 5’ 6”
Weight: 124 lbs
Fighting Style: Cassandra’s fighting style relies on her grace, agility and prowess with a sword. She is not a Witch who relies solely on her magic to fight, instead using it to supplement her already considerable fighting abilities and her first priority is always her swordplay.
Not being exceptionally tall and possessing a slender, lightweight body Cassandra is not able to rely on strength or size to fight with; instead she utilizes speed and agility to her advantage. Cassandra moves around a lot during her fights, using fast and precise footwork to constantly shift and circle around her opponents, seeking better positioning and the opportunity to launch a successfully strike.
Cassandra does not attack needlessly or hastily, but she does attack often. She does not attack without reason, although there are many reasons why she attacks; to probe their defence, to force a block and open a gap elsewhere, to put pressure on the opponent, to halt their advance, to force their retreat, to strike at an unguarded location and finally, to land the killing blow.
Cassandra treats a fight like a game of chess, a series of moves traded between two combatants by which they both seek for a more advantageous position, either by strengthening their own or weakening their opponents, until one can take the others king, or in this case their life. She is a strategic fighter, though an aggressive one. She is constantly thinking during a fight, even as she attacks.
While the single sword style is her favoured form of combat, Cassandra is somewhat capable with two swords as well, though less proficient. This does not affect her strategy much, except for allowing her to attack more quickly and from more angles. She has trained herself to be ambidextrous for this purpose, which is fortunate given that the injury to her eye forced her to begin using her left hand instead of her right to fight with, a disadvantage she has yet to fully overcome.
Magic, when it is used, is used to support her fighting style. The spell Crowd Sourcing is used in two ways; to duplicate her sword hand and the sword itself, allowing for her to use her sword techniques at a longer range or allowing her to attack with multiple swords at once to increase the chances of a successfully hit, or for defensive purposes, creating a projection between herself and an incoming attack.
Forging Forgery is used to provide a second sword to allow for a two-sword fighting style or possibly replacing her sword if she is disarmed. Lastly, Forceful Rejection is used to block larger scale attacks which cannot be blocked by a small projection created by Crowd Sourcing. Potentially it can be used offensively to propel an enemy away from her though currently given how slow the spell is its uses in either attack or defence are limited.

The ability to create physically tangible duplicate projections of the caster. The projections are products of magic and will appear translucent and with a pink hue.
At the point of creation the duplicates position in relation to the caster will be locked; this means that the duplicates can be created in the air or otherwise not on solid ground without them being affected by gravity. Duplicates can only be created in locations visible to Cassandra and indeed cannot exist outside of her line of sight and if at any point the duplicates are not visible her they dissipate. Additionally duplicates will always be created with the same orientation as the caster, which is to say that they will always face the same direction as Cassandra. It should also be said that the projections must be to scale and cannot be bigger or smaller than Cassandra herself.
This spell also allows for the creation of partial duplicates, such as a single arm or leg, which follow the same rules as full projections. Any objects or clothing Cassandra has on her person can be duplicated as well but this requires extra effort to be put into the spell. Also, objects cannot be projected by themselves, at least not with this spell, and any projection needs to include at least a little Cassandra.
With Cassandra's current magical ability she can only muster enough energy to create a single full duplicate, plus about a third of her mass allowing for clothing and equipment to also be duplicated. However this is still enough energy to create multiple partial projections. This means that single body parts can be projected multiple times so long as the energy required to do so is less than or equal to the amount of energy needed to create a full duplicate.
The projections, full or partial, will perfectly mimic the actions of the caster in absolute synchronicity. Any duplicate is capable of applying the same force as the original, in the case of single limbs this means that a duplicated arm has as much strength as the real arm, allowing them to perform attacks or otherwise interact with objects in the world. However, since the duplicates are a construct of magic they are somewhat more durable than a regular person and therefore capable of providing slightly more impact than the caster in combat.
In terms of durability the duplicates are not easily destroyed by conventional means; they are resistant to force up to an amount slightly higher than what it would take to kill a Witch and they it would take a single hit of that strength to break on. Additionally they are immune to energy based attacks such as fire or lightning. They are however somewhat susceptible to soul wavelengths as it disrupts the link to their creator which they need to hold their form by introducing another person’s soul.
Interestingly the projections location in relation to the caster is locked and if you were to move a duplicate out of position it would dissipate. Pushing a duplicate, even those suspended in the air, will not move them, however applying enough force to a duplicate that they have to move such as with a strong attack or heavy object will cause them to dissipate. The force required to do this is generally lower than that required to destroy them. This fact also puts a limit on what the projections can do as if the caster tries to use the projection to move an object which turns out to be too heavy, it will dissipate as the caster will move more than the projection. The same goes for if the caster tries to walk in a direction which would cause a projection to collide with an object; if the object is not capable of moving then the projection will be forced to dissipate instead.
It should be explained these duplicates are not just a projection in the approximate shape of Cassandra they are actually projections of her. The projections exactly match her appearance at the time they were created and if her appearance changes at all they will actually change to match in real time. They do this by maintaining a link of sorts back to her own soul so that a perfect image can be maintained.
This is why it requires more effort to create projections which include clothing and equipment and why they are vulnerable to soul wavelengths. The natural state of the spell is to create an exact copy of her current natural shape, extending the spell to include objects which are around her, such as clothing and weaponry, but not of her is a more difficult task. This is also why the projections cannot be made to a different scale to Cassandra, as making any change so that the projections to not completely match Cassandra’s appearance is a very difficult task.

Forging Forgery

The ability to project a duplicate of any object smaller than the caster. The duplicates are essentially copies formed of magic, but they mould themselves into the exact shape and appearance of the object in question and take on the same properties such as weight and texture. They are essentially indistinguishable from the original except to those who can recognise and wield magic, in which case the objects give off what can only be described as a 'tingle' which gives them away as magical constructs.
Objects created by this spell are fairly long lasting with a life of about 4 hours before fading away. Objects will also fade if broken or if they are sufficiently damaged; this is another way to distinguish them from the real object although breaking an object to find out if it is real or fake rather defeats the purpose of finding out. On the point of breakability the duplicates have a set level of durability which cannot be changed; compared to objects which are hard to break they will appear fragile, compared to soft or easily breakable objects they will appear unnaturally tough.

Forceful Rejection
Chant: Sparrow Harrow Sparrow Spar
This spell involved the caster projecting a solid covering of magic around themselves which then expands outwards into a dome-shaped forcefield with considerable speed and force. The field produced by this spell is of the same nature as the duplicates produced by the Crowd Sourcing spell, being translucent with a pink hue, durable and resistant to energy based attacks.
When the spell starts it begins as a pink glow around Cassandra which intensifies until the projection is in place around her and she is completely covered; the projection covers all of Cassandra body as well as anything she is holder and is for fitting, making her appear as if she has become one of her own projections in some way, although if you looked close enough you could see the real Cassie beneath.
Once in place the projection will then rapidly expand away from Cassandra until it reaches its limit and stabilises. At this point the projection will have become a dome roughly five feet in radius with Cassie at the centre; the projection, while dome shaped, is still all covering meaning it also stretches out across the floor. This is more apparent when Cassandra uses this spell in the air as looking at it from below will show a flat floor under the dome.
The duration of each stage goes as follows; the preparation stage, from when the glow begins to when the projection is in place takes exactly 2.5 seconds. The expansion stage, when the projection expands from a full body covering to a ten feet diameter dome, takes only 0.5 seconds. Lastly, the complete stage, when the dome has reached its maximum size, lasts four seconds, at which point it will collapse.
When this shield expands it is moving very quickly and being quite durable it hits with a lot of force; the fact that it has a large surface area diminishes this somewhat but this spell is still more than enough to send an unsuspecting attacker flying if they are not careful, as well as being capable of bouncing projectiles away from herself and possibly even back at her attackers.
There are certain limitations to this spell, the chief among which is its range. Its range is set and cannot be changed, it is not possible to make it smaller or larger it will always be ten feet diameter; like with the Crowd Sourcing spell if this projection encounters something it cannot move it will immediately break. What’s more, because of the higher amount of energy she puts into this spell, if it breaks in this way Cassandra will suffer some backlash from the failure. This means that the use of this spell in close quarters is both potentially fatal to those around her but also hazardous to herself.
The second limitation is that this spells takes a significant amount of energy and as such cannot be used too often. It is also quite tiring for Cassie, even if successful, and repeated failures will drain her reserves even faster.
However, it should be mentioned that as this projection is always in contact with the caster it is not susceptible to a soul wavelength based attack like the Crowd Sourcing projections are. It will block wavelengths as well as any other form of energy.
(This spell requires a two post recharge between uses.)

Extra Notes:
The injuries which Cassandra sustained during her first fight are mostly centred around her torso with the largest covering her stomach and portions of her chest. The larger scar is on her back however, running from her right shoulder blade almost all the way down to her left hip and although the cut was shallow compared to some of her other injuries the size of the injury and length of time it took her to get proper treatment mean is still scarred. As well as these there are also several small cuts on her arms where she tried to defend herself and one on her left leg where she was cut down trying to run away.
The amount of scar tissue on Cassandra’s body means that she is not as nimble or flexible as she once was; the freedom of movement around her waist is particularly hindered and she finds it hard to turn her torso too much to one side or the other.
She also still suffers some pain even to this day, especially when the weather is particularly cold or if her body is strained in some way.
Over the centuries and through her travels Cassandra has learnt to speak many languages, seven to be precise. The full list includes English, French, Spanish, German, Russian and Japanese. She can also speak and read Latin, which she learnt more as a distraction.
