Calida; Cendrine; Witch
Name: Cendrine Calida
Nickname: Ash
Age: 178 years old, looks to be about 13
Gender: Female
Race: Witch
Class: One star
A Magical Body
Picture:
Appearance: Cendrine appears to be an adorable, innocent, young girl, with a few odd choices in fashion. She has a slender body and face, and is somewhat short for how old she appears to be. Her skin is very pale, almost looking white, much like the white star (Referring to the horse marking as opposed to the shape) that has been imprinted on her forehead.
Most of Cendrine’s body parts can be defined as small. Her hands are small, her feet are small, and her facial features are small, excluding her eyes. She has next to no muscle on her body, meaning any punches she might throw at someone would not be very effective at all.
To confiscate for the smallness of her body size, Cendrine’s eyes are rather large. She has heterochromia, meaning her eyes differ in colour. Cendrine’s right eye is a dull brown, almost grey, and her left eye is a bright red. However, the red eye is usually covered by her long, wavy, grey hair. Cendrine’s hair reaches to her back, cutting off in a messy fashion. An additional hair extension resembling a horse’s tail extends from this, and just barely doesn’t reach the floor.
Cendrine’s most commonly worn outfit absolutely screams the fact she’s a witch. She wears a long black dress that falls to her ankles, which is tied around the waist with dark red silk. A cape of the same colour hangs from her shoulders, and a silk cravat, also dark red, is tied around her neck. A tall witch’s hat of black cloth with dark red embellishments is usually worn on her head, unless she intends to be indoors. A long, dark red tassel hangs from the top of it, and a few silver horseshoe designs decorate the brim.
Height: 4’10”
Weight: 92 lbs
Fighting Style: Cendrine doesn’t really get combat. In all fairness, she doesn’t often get challenged to combat, and if she is to challenge someone to “combat”, they probably can’t fight back. Nonetheless, Cendrine will usually stall her opponent with her innocence factor as she sets up. Cendrine needs to create ashes to use her spells, after all. Then, she’ll try to scare the person to run away, so she can chase them in a game of cat and mouse. Then, Cendrine will make a sword from her ashes, and try to cut through the opponent’s neck. Always the neck, though she might try to stall them by cutting them elsewhere too. If that doesn’t work, Cendrine will finish them off with her most powerful and lethal spell. If that still doesn’t work, she’ll retreat or rely on someone else if possible.
Personality: Cendrine is a very energetic person. She’s constantly bouncing off the walls, not being able to sit still for very long at all. Most people would find this extremely annoying, but Cendrine will put anyone who can stand being around her to a very high regard. She assumes people don’t understand what she’s talking about most of the time, and will constantly explain any joke she makes. Cendrine’s attention span is also very small, making it hard to keep her invested in anything.
Cendrine’s current emotion changes rather frequently. She’ll suddenly switch between being happy to being sad with little reason for doing so, and vise versa. This adds to her unpredictability greatly, as she can even put herself in a state of woe just by thinking about something that upsets her. Furthermore, Cendrine will often think of some outlandish outcome for anything that might be happening.
Despite how prevalent her other traits are, one will not know this of Cendrine until they have gotten to know her. However, what one will know as soon as they make contact with her should they be considered a foe to her is that Cendrine is rather sadistic. Instead of doing what most witches do and attacking the like of Shibusen students as well as innocents depending on the witch, Cendrine will do such things in the least efficient way possible. She rather likes things that cause others pain. Especially people she doesn’t like.
As the rest of her personality suggests, Cendrine isn’t one to really care about such things as what others think of her. It would be hard too, having a personality most would consider rather annoying. Nonetheless, common ethics among witches and other people are not something Cendrine takes to concern. She’ll simply do whatever she wishes to, despite any given consequences. People telling her not to do something will often make her want to more as well.
Since Cendrine’s tactics rely quite a bit on intimidation, she has to be intimidating. Of course, Cendrine doesn’t look intimidating at all. To confiscate for this fact, Cendrine will put on the best performance she can muster, by basically chewing up the scenery. She’ll often resort to cheesy one liners that wouldn’t intimidate anyone who wasn’t already scared.
Sway the Soul
Spells: Cendrine deals in the art of Tuphramancy. The control over ashes. Though completely unnecessary, she’ll commonly give a long speech before using each spell, unless it’s a standard spell like flight. The chant that actually triggers the spell is "neigh esroh neigh esroh".
Back to Where you Began: This spell will turn any inanimate object into ashes. It can be used on any object that is not living in any regard (So, though she can transform regular weapons into ash, demon weapons are out of the question). The range of this spell is minimal, and can therefore not be used on a large space of terrain. This spell is used mainly for intimidation and setting up for other spells of much greater merit. Before using this spell, Cendrine will say the following; “Frivolous being bound to the mortal plane, I sense the unbearable shackles of agony confining you. I ask you to return to ashes, back to where you began. Neigh esroh neigh esroh.” After Cendrine has said this once, she won’t repeat it for any other object she touches, merely muttering the chant that does anything itself.
The Illusion of Death: This is Cendrine’s most favored spell. Though it causes no damage to the target whatsoever, it blinds them and causes quite a lot of intimidation. Using the ashes made with Back to Where you Began, Cendrine manipulates them to form any creature of her liking. Depending on how much ashes are available will manipulate the size of the creation. Usually she will go with a Friesian, that being her familiar. This may also blind the target, should it hit head on like it’s supposed to. This blindness will last for about one post of anyone hit. Before using this spell, Cendrine will say the following; “From the ashes rises a creation of vast power. I ask of you to blind my foe with your might. Why, it’s the illusion of death. Neigh esroh neigh esroh."
The Blade of the Hearth: Probably the most viable spell Cendrine knows, it takes any ash and forms the ashes into a sword. The length of the sword varies based on the amount of ash collected. When formed, the ash will harden and become rocky. Close ranged combat is something Cendrine isn’t very skilled at, but is much more reliable than her alternative attack. Before using this spell, Cendrine will say the following; “From the fire I ask of thee form a blade to slay thine enemy. I summon the blade of the hearth. Neigh esroh neigh esroh.”
The Death of Hades: A finishing spell of sorts. The idea is to do as much damage as possible in a large area, allowing no life to live. However, if it were as simple as that, Cendrine would use it all the time. No, no. This spell puts extreme stress on the body when used, making Cendrine completely vulnerable. Of course, she only uses this spell as a last result, and the likelihood of surviving it’s wake is minimal. A lot ashes must have been created from Back to Where you Began for this spell to work. A tornado is formed from said ashes, then splits into around a hundred spikes that surround her body, which are sent flying towards the target all at once. Before using this spell, Cendrine will say the following: “Though you may believe my departure from this world nears, you have yet to face your greatest challenge yet. Prepare yourself, mortal, for The Death of Hades! Neigh esroh neigh esroh!”
We All Fall Down: This spell has minimum use during actual combat, but Cendrine will find it useful for the activities she normally uses magic for. And that would be the murder of innocent civilians. Much like in Cendrine’s most used spell “Blade of the Hearth”, she creates an object from ashes, this time a boulder. This boulder is not nearly big enough or heavy enough to do much damage to it’s target when it is dropped on them, but will often knock them unconscious. It’ll at the very least slow them down enough for Cendrine to prepare her next spell. Due to the size of the object being created, it takes quite a while for the boulder to be formed. Furthermore, Cendrine must decide where the boulder will fall right when she starts to create it. The spell ends up being easily avoided. Before using this spell, Cendrine will say the following: “Neigh esroh neigh esroh. Ashes, ashes, we all fall down.” This is the only spell in which the incantation is said before the speech.
Animal Familiar Form: Cendrine’s Friesian form, while looking very similar to that of a normal Friesian, there are some differences of note. Though the coat colour remains black with no markings excluding the star on her forehead, silver hair is mixed into the mane, tail, and fetlocks.
Animal Familiar: Friesian (A horse breed)
Magical Theme: Tuphramancy

-Agile
-Quick Reflexes
-High Stamina
Weaknesses: -Low Endurance
-Lack of Combat Skills
-Lack of intelligence
-Strategically Inept
Hobbies: One of Cendrine’s favourite hobbies is scaring the innocent. As a witch, she likes honing her powers in whatever way possible, and to do this she’ll usually attack random civilians. It’s fun when you know that you can’t lose, and can just watch someone be absolutely terrified in peace. Chewing up the scenery is also fun, which of course adds to her scariness factor. Especially for kids.
Hobbies that can be done more frequently, however, are not so obvious. What Cendrine likes doing will change with her mood, and there’s no one single hobby she’s ever stuck to (save scaring the innocent, of course). For example, when Cendrine is in a happy mood, she’ll enjoy singing and making bracelets out of flowers and the like. When she’s sad, she’ll much prefer writing gripping stories about how she wants to kill whatever it was that made her sad.

-Easily manipulated people
Dislikes: -Subtlety
-Windy days

History: Though Cendrine was born as a witch with a witch soul and everything, neither of her parents were witches. No, her mother was a human. An innocent human who went by the name of Emelie Blix, who had a rather odd grandmother, who was known as Enya Blix. Though her actual mother had died, her grandmother hadn’t. She was cruel, and did not appear to age. Emelie was told by her mother when she was young the reason for this. Her grandmother was a witch. But she was also told to not worry, as she was nothing more than a human, meaning her offspring would be the same. Of course, this was not the case.
Cendrine was born on February the 5th in the early 1800s, and named, by her parents, Sonja Blix. Both her parents were absolutely ecstatic that the birth had gone off without a hitch. However, the day after her birth they were met with an unwelcomed visitor. Enya had come to verify if the child was really a human or not, and indeed she was not. A witch. Enya guaranteed that she would teach Sonja how to act as a witch when she was of age, and would therefore watch her closely until then. Though Enya was rather happy with this, Cendrine’s parents couldn’t bear it. Both Emelie and her husband could not stand for having a witch as a daughter. So, they gave their little Sonja away to a dear friend who had been widowed soon after being married, as her husband had gone to war. She knew that Sonja was a witch, but didn’t care, as she was unable to bear children and also stay loyal to her late husband.
Her name was Annika Calida. As Sonja was only just born, she was renamed Cendrine upon Annika becoming her guardian. Annika was a very kind person, but knew that Cendrine would be unable to lead a normal life due to the fact she didn’t age like a normal person. Plus, if a meister who could sense souls found her, or even another witch, she might be killed. So, Annika sought to keep Cendrine safe by hiding her from everyone. No one visited the Calida house. Some believed no one even lived there. If they knew Annika did, they assumed her heartbroken from the loss of her husband. No one suspected Cendrine to be living there, and so life for Annika was peaceful.
Cendrine’s powers began to manifest when she looked to be about the age of 4, though was actually about 50 years old. It was impossible for her to control these powers in full, so Annika seeked help from a witch, any witch, so long as she knew she could be trusted. Annika was growing old. She was about 70, now, and could not travel great distances to search for a witch to teach Cendrine how to use her powers. So instead, she sought the help of Cendrine’s biological parents.
However, Annika found that both of Cendrine’s parents were dead. Murdered. When she had arrived at the house with Cendrine, both of them were lying on the floor. It was hard to tell they were even the same person, as their skin was charred. Though Annika broke down, Cendrine remained surprisingly calm. She obviously did not understand what death was just yet. Infact, she was much more interested by how their bodies had turned to a grey powder.
It had appeared Enya was the one who had killed them, merely to prove a point. As she had been secretly watching the girl as she grew, she had decided that now would be when she taught Cendrine how to use her powers, access the witch’s realm, and the like. However, Cendrine refused this proposal. She had grown rather fond of Annika. Alas, Annika insisted the girl stay with Enya to at least learn the basics of being a witch. So, Cendrine agreed to stay with Enya but made a point to visit Annika whenever possible.
Once Cendrine had figured out how to use her own special spells no other witch could do but her, she decided she would show them to Annika. At the time Cendrine arrived, Annika had a fire going. Now would be the perfect time for the spell known as “The Blade of the Hearth”. Cendrine wouldn’t even need to make any ashes, with them already available in the fireplace! After saying the chant like Enya had taught her and creating the blade (Which was really no more than a pointed stick due to Cendrine’s familiarity with the spell), Cendrine did the next thing she had been taught to. She pointed the blade at Annika and pushed it through her throat.
A red liquid began to ooze out of Annika’s throat. Annika coughed. Annika struggled. Annika began to desperately claw at the blade to remove it, the same red liquid beginning to ooze from her hands as well. Annika began to cry. Annika stopped all she was doing, and froze, ragdolling down. However, through all of this, Cendrine didn’t move. She wasn’t quite sure what was happening, but she was pretty sure she had done what Enya had taught. Completely sure. She had done everything perfectly, and by the gods was it amusing! Turning the weapon back to ashes, Annika still didn’t move. More red stuff just poured out of her throat.
Interesting. Cendrine would have to try this technique on other people too. Perhaps they’d act differently, have - blood, was it? - of a different colour. Once the girl had learned all she could from Enya, Cendrine set out. She’d find new people to show her magic to. Cendrine made herself a costume, one that looked to be what the average witch wore. A black dress and hat. She traveled in her animal form usually, as travel was much faster that way. Cendrine didn’t keep many ties to specific witches, either. She didn’t visit Enya very much, and it’s not like Enya made any attempts to catch up with the girl or anything. Cendrine didn’t really concern herself with witches. Sure, she attended the witch masses and stuff, but was far more interested in people than other witches.
Cendrine decided to explore the world. She looked for new people who were interested in seeing her magic, and there were quite a few, too!
Behind the strings
Alias: Direbolt or Firebolt. You can call me Bolty too if you want.
Other characters: Stella Riordan, Elias Larenz, Cyrille Lécuyer, and Ivor Moores
RP Sample: The city of Stockholm had quite a few back alleyways. It was not wise to travel them, even in broad daylight. However, the man traveling them was running late, and didn’t particularly care about the risks pertaining traveling through the capital of Sweden in such a manner. He wore a perfectly white suit, which boasted his importance. Today was an important day for him. A day that might make or break his career. Should all go successfully today, his future was assured to be happy. If not? Well, it’d be no worse than whatever fate he might get for walking through these alley ways.
”Hey! Mister!”
Suddenly a voice could be heard from... above him? No. Behind him. The man spun around, to see a little girl standing behind him. Where had she come from? She was dressed completely in black, with only a few red accents here and there. Cape, long dress, and witch’s hat. Odd. She must have been a travelling performer or something. Grey hair covered one of her eyes. Also odd, as she looked no older than thirteen. Perhaps she was lost, or something. Before the man could question her, she spoke up again.
”Wanna see a magic trick?”
The girl’s voice was shrill. It sounded quieter and less demanding this time, but was still obnoxiously loud. He’d have to get away. After all, he was in a hurry. The man turned his back on the girl and began to walk away. She didn’t make a peep. So, she was just gonna leave him alone? Good. It was good for a girl to know her place.
But the voice began again. Behind him, slightly to his left. Why was it so close? The man hadn’t heard a single footstep.
”Mister...” The girl sulked. ”You’re really no fun, huh?” The voice now appeared to his left. The man turned his head, and she was there. Wait. What was she doing? Floating? Flying?! The girl flew in front of him, causing him to be paralyzed in fear.
Clearing her throat the girl spoke up once again. She put her hands at her hips, clearly not impressed with the man. ”I’ll ask again. Do you wanna see a magic trick?” The girl’s last few words were drawn out, clearly annoyed as to having to repeat herself. The man couldn’t move. He couldn’t run, she’d follow him. He begun to sweat. All he could do was whimper a soft “yes”, almost inaudible.
Fortunately, the girl did pick up on what he had said, or at the very least read his lips, and began to beam excitedly. ”Alrighty! Watch this!” She said, bringing a hand to the wall. The girl cleared her throat, beginning to speak again. ”Ahem... Frivolous being bound to the mortal plane, I sense the unbearable shackles of agony confining you. I ask you to return to ashes, back to where you began. Neigh esroh neigh esroh.”
As the girl said the last few words, her clothing and hair began to flicker upwards, like a wind current had begun to blow from beneath her. The current revealed a bright red eye as well, that had previously been hiding under her hair, for a split second. Then, the wall she had pressed her hand against looked to begin to crumble. As she moved her hand away, part of the wall looked to be destroyed, and a rather large pile of ashes fell to her feet.
The man couldn’t do much now. He was shaking in fear. This was no magic trick. This girl... She was a witch! He had to get away, but he couldn’t. He was shaking too much. Then, the girl clapped. The sharp sound produced by the motion caused him to flinch.
”And for my next trick...” The girl began speaking once more, extending a hand out to the ashes she had just created. ”From the fire I ask of thee form a blade to slay thine enemy. I summon the blade of the hearth! Neigh esroh neigh esroh.”
With these words the ashes began to rise into the girl’s hand. They moved around for a second, trying to fit her hand as to make a comfortable hilt. Once the hilt was formed, a blade formed from that. Once the shape of the sword was made, the ashes froze and took on a rocky appearance, though the blade seemed rather sharp. ”Now we play!”
The man couldn’t take it anymore. He finally found the strength to spin around and run. He opened his mouth to scream, but for some reason, no sound would come out. Only muffled gargles. And, what was this sharp pain in his neck? A giggling sound behind him. She had caught up. The man was coughing up blood. The girl had dug the blade into his neck.
The man couldn’t breath. He slumped down, his white tie and collar began to grow red. Suddenly, a release of pressure and he felt as though he was drowning. He fell to his side, shaking, as things slowly turned black and he stopped moving.
The girl smiled happily yet again, and let out a shrill laugh. ”Yay! Cendrine wins!”
