The cafe was empty, excluding one lone girl, who sat in the middle of one of the centre tables. Not surprising. It was that point in the day that was too late for breakfast, but far too early for lunch. The girl looked to be hunched over, sipping a coffee. She presumably got it from the cafe. An odd choice, since cafes weren’t known for good beverages. It made a bit more sense when one noted her near constant yawning. The stairs to and from Shibusen were rather long, so climbing them when so tired was not exactly wise.
”Bleh. This is awful.” The girl stated aloud, absent mindedly stirring the coffee with a spoon. She had yet to taste a good cup of coffee since her arrival in Death City. A shame, really. In all fairness, she was used to Irish coffee. A beverage so earth shatteringly amazing it best be deemed illegal. Nonetheless, that was probably the only thing she missed about home. Good coffee.
As the girl continued to stir the coffee, occasionally hesitantly sipping it, something looked to be moving under her coat. She seemed to notice this immediately, and undid one of the top buttons. The head of a sugar glider popped out, and looked around curiously. It didn’t make a move to completely come out of the jacket, however. ”Amora! You mustn't make such a big fuss! I have no idea the policies on pets at this place, so for now you must stay hidden during the day.” She said, sternly. However, being Stella, the girl quickly reverted back to her normal disposition around the adorable marsupial, and pet it’s head. She clearly was not concerned about anyone walking into the cafe. She had her back turned to the entrance, and would most certainly hear someone enter if need be.

((Sadly not finished with that Polyvore stuff soooo... (sigh) Suppose its safe to assume he's wearing his favorite white jacket with a black t-shirt and slacks.))
Well so far today looked to be a lazy one. After studying a bit later than usual for an upcoming test Merric had ended up sleeping in a bit to late and while he was disgruntled at the lost opportunity to make breakfast it did make for a decent excuse for a particularly lazy morning... Heh why not even just have a lazy day in general? Meh we'll see but either way he'd need breakfast and while the Cafeteria didn't make the best food it was much more preferable than chancing that dam staircase.
So after making his way down towards the cafeteria with a sleepy and slightly absentminded whistle and offering a lazy "Morning." to those he passed in the hallway Merric entered the cafeteria and got himself a sandwich and a coffee with a small bowl of strawberries. White bread, mayo, hmm... bah its a lazy day so just baloney, Havarti cheese, mustard, annnnd spice to top it off. Hey it may have been a bit much but Merric liked food, a simple sandwich wasn't really going to cut it when there was the option for better! Though he did grab a few different creamers to go with the coffee, while the coffee here was pretty bland he'd found that if you added the right blend to it then it was passable. Not great but it was better than nothing.
Though once he was done preparing his 'breakfast' he thought back on what he'd 'seen' on his way in, while it was understandably pretty empty with it being a little to late for most people to have breakfast there was one girl here... Heh well why not, would probably be pretty boring to avoid talking to everyone all day even if it was supposedly a quiet day. So Merric made his way over and let off a low whistle to introduce himself before setting his hand on the chair to her right and politely asking. "You mind if i sit here miss?"

Walking through the hallways of Shibusen was a rather tall girl, a cane held with her left hand. If one studied her gait carefully, they would note she was walking with a slight limp this day. It was rather unfortunate, but a few days ago the girl had tripped and fell whilst walking in the park. This had the consequence of her bruising her ankle, which made it rather awkward to walk on. Thus, the girl had bought a cane to alleviate the burden. Though she had bought it as a crutch, she was growing rather fond of it. It was a rather stylish cane, a simple design but none-the-less swanky.
On this day, Gardenia was wearing a rather subdued outfit, in terms of color. A long sleeved blouse, colored black, with some black slacks and stylish black boots. In fact, the only color in her current ensemble was a violet scarf she had wrapped around her neck, tied into a neat bow. She didn't have any particular reason as to why she wore such an outfit today, but it seemed to work well enough with the cane. Her blonde hair was braided into a ponytail, as well, which fell over her right shoulder.
The young lady was just leaving the library, having taken the time early in the morning to study, but she had to break off from her reading to slake her thirst. She pushed the door to the cafeteria open, and sauntered in. It was rather empty, presumably because most students would have had their breakfast already by this hour. She procured a cup of hot tea, Earl Grey, and considered the other two students in the cafe with her. Typically, she preferred to sit alone in the cafe, certainly never with strangers, but... there was only two of them there. If those two sat together, but then she sat off on her own, wouldn't that be terribly awkward? Not wanting to seem odd, and lonely, she approached the table where the two were, opposite of the seated girl. "Pardon me, but mind if I enjoy my break with you as well?" She bowed her head slightly in greeting, "Gardenia Oslin, by the way."

As Stella was enjoying the company of no one but her adorable little pet, she heard footsteps walking in to the cafeteria. The girl quickly closed her jacket, as to forbay anyone from seeing Amora. Fortunately, the person didn’t stop to question her. They were getting food. Letting out a soft sigh of relief, Stella continued to absentmindedly fiddle with her coffee.
Her relief was not warranted, however. A low whisper rung in the girl’s ears, then the man who had walked in to get food had placed a hand on the chair next to her, asking to join her. The man, and her mind only referred to him by that because he seemed like one of the older students. He had messy red hair, green eyes, and not much else of note. Wait, no. He must have suffered an injury to one of his eyes recently, as it was covered with an eyepatch. Not the pirate-y kind, mind you. Definitely the medical kind.
Now, Stella wasn’t one to particularly enjoy the company of others. It had been her defining trait at home, and so far she had made but one friend at the school. While she could make making friends a top priority, Stella prefered focusing on her studies for the time being. Fortunately Amora had calmed down, so if she was unsuccessful at shooing the boy away, nothing bad could really come of it. ”Well, I, uhm...” The girl began, fumbling over her words. It was early, and she was tired. Stella didn’t really have the charisma she normally had when she was this tired.
Before she could politely ask the man to leave, another girl showed up. She seemed much more the kind of person Stella would wish to be around. Great fashion that matched her eye color, proper posture, all checks. She was a girl Stella would like to get to know better. She had picked the seat opposing Stella. That was common etiquette that the man clearly didn’t get. Well, Stella couldn’t decline the one and let the other stay. She’d have to say both of them could stay. Oh well. ”Oh, yes. It’s fine. For the both of you.”
As she spoke, Stella had turned most of her attention to the girl in question. ”And I’m Stella Riordan. It’s a pleasure to meet you.” With these words, Stella extended a hand towards Gardenia. Twas common etiquette to shake hands after meeting someone, after all.

Even with it being a bit early in the morning, for Merric at least, and with Stella apparently not being as charismatic as usual Merric got the general idea of what she was saying. It was kind of unfortunate that he'd made her uncomfortable but that's how things went he supposed. He was about to apologize for being forward and sit elsewhere when Gardenia arrived and he looked up towards the new girl and nodded to her with a smile... Now it'd be a bit rude to excuse himself so he shook his head and chuckled before stating with a hint of humor. "Suppose it'd be a bit impolite to not introduce myself now that i know both of your names, i'm Merric Devoran..."
After speaking he set his tray a seat over from Stella's right, not wanting to wear out his limited welcome before he was finished with his dinner or make the girl any more uncomfortable, and gave Gardenia a polite wave in greeting before sitting down in front of his tray. He was still listening to the girls and it was nice to have some noise around so that he could 'see' a bit but he'd switched his attention to mixing the creamer into his coffee with the right, well right for this place's coffee, amount of sugar to balance out the taste into something more acceptable to his standards... Which admittedly were a little high but he was usually not to lazy to make it himself, today was just better spent doing little.

Gardenia looked serene, as Stella introduced herself and extended her hand. She felt that she mustn't let her trepidation show. This was certainly not the first time she'd been placed in such a situation, but every time was surrounded by different factors and variables she couldn't account for in advance. She typically was able to find someway out of it without seeming odd, but other times she couldn't avoid seeming awkward. Her heartbeat accelerated as her mind raced to find an out, before remembering the tea in her hand.
"Oh, dear," The young lady exclaimed in a surprised tone, looking at her tea as she sat it down on the table. "It seems I've forgotten to get sugar to go with this, how silly of me. Pardon, Stella, Merric, I'll be just a moment." She turned around, and walked calmly towards the counter where tea sweeteners were available. She hoped that Stella wouldn't extend her hand once more by the time she got back; most people would think it awkward to attempt to shake a person's hand twice in so short a time.
Gardenia let out a small sigh under her breath when she got to the sugar. She was relieved that she had found a way to excuse herself like that, but it was still a bothersome work around she'd rather not have to contend with in the first place. She scooped up some sweeteners, though she honestly preferred her tea without sugar. She walked back to the table, her grip on her cane tightened in determination to avoid further complications. The table had a wide enough radius to allow her the space she needed, but she would have to be sure to keep her legs back as far as she could. She smiled to the two others, though it would turn out that it was really only for Stella's benefit, as she took her seat, setting her sugar down on the table and her cane upon her lap. "My apologies for that, such things tend to slip my mind. It's a pleasure to meet you too, Stella. And you, Merric." She opened the pack of sugar and poured it into her tea, and then stirred it in leisurely.

So, the boy’s name was Merric, hm? Looking over him again, he wasn’t all that bad looking. At the very least he boasted green eyes and red hair. Stella would know that such a colour combination was a good one. But, that was about it in regards to his admirable traits.
As Gardenia left, Stella retracted her hand from the table. That was a bit rude of her. She’d give the girl the benefit of the doubt, however, as Stella rather liked her. First impressions were everything to Stella, and Gardenia had made a good one.
Waiting for the girl to come back was a bit... annoying. Or perhaps awkward was the better word. Stella didn’t bother saying a single word to the boy, and continued to absent mindedly sip her coffee. Amora had thankfully settled down completely now, meaning she wouldn’t be a nuisance. The boy had thankfully remained quiet too. Despite the lack of desire to speak to him, the fact he wore an eyepatch of sorts was rather interesting. Stella had never seen anyone wear such a thing. Perhaps his eye was missing? Or maybe the covered eye didn't move properly, making him look cross eyed? Interesting. She'd ask him about that later. Maybe.
As Gardenia returned, Stella smiled at her. No point in trying to shake her hand again, lest she look odd. That was how that worked, right? Whatever. There was always the next time they were to see each other, should that happen. Gardenia didn’t seem to be in any of Stella’s classes, or at least she didn’t remember seeing her. ”No need to worry.” Stella said to her. Stella’s usual spunk had almost completely diminished with her energy, but not best come off as boring. Trying to sound as chipper as she could, the girl spoke up again. ”So, uh, have you guys been here - and by here I mean Shibusen - for very long?”

Merric didn't think too much of the missed handshake, from prior experience it seemed to be a common thing from Shibusen students. Things happened and they got distracted. Besides, people forget things all the time and something as small as sugar was pretty easy to forget. So when Nia excused herself Merric just nodded slightly and simply said. "All good."
And while waiting for Nia to return Merric quietly started on his lunch, got the measurements for the sandwich just right to! Just enough mayo and mustard to mix well with the others and not too much spices to drown out the taste... Wasn't really awkward for him though. A quiet lunch breakfast was a great way to begin the day and the silence was kinda soothing to him. It was certainly more relaxing than back home, he couldn't even eat his sandwich without losing it once or twice to a small mobile black hole around there... Either way, Merric was quite content to enjoy the silence and relax for a few moments.
When Nia sat down and apologized Merric smiled at her and after Stella had finished saying not to worry Merric nodded and added "Mhmm, not a big deal. There's worse things to forget about... And its a pleasure to meat you girls as well." Then after a moment Stella spoke up again and Merric had to think for a moment... It had been what?... 9 mon- yeah it had been 9 months since he'd gotten here. So after a moments contemplation Merric finished a bite of his sandwich and stated in a contemplative tone. "Umm i think its been nine months or so?... Either way i've been her for a good while, nice place."

Gardenia brought her cup up and took a small sip from it as she listened to the other two. She was relieved that they didn't seem to be bothered by her moment of eccentricity. When it came to be the appropriate time for her input, she let her tea down with her pinky finger extended slightly to guide a measured and even placement.
She first turned her attention to the young man at the table, her pupils dilated slightly, "Nine months already? Oh my, you must be quite accustomed to the school by now then." Gardenia commented on Merric's answer. She figured that might explain the guy's eye patch; students tend to get hurt whilst on missions, after all. She figured if he was a NOT student, she'd have seen her in her classes. It wasn't her business to pry, either way. She couldn't help but wonder, though.
"I've only been here for about a month, now." She gazed down into the reflection off the surface of her tea briefly, "My classes are going well enough, but I've unfortunately not had much opportunity to do quite anything else." She stated, bringing her attention back to the two she was conversing with. Gardenia wasn't keen on admitting to the fact she was only in NOT classes, or had yet to find a weapon partner. But she had no reason to admit anything to the contrary.
The lady turned her attention to the girl in green. "And what of you, miss Stella? How has your time here been treating you?" She took another sip in the time between her question and Stella's answer.

Nine months? The guy had been here for nine months? That’d certainly support Stella’s missing-eye theory. If he had been here for that long surely he had obtained a partner and had gone out on a dangerous mission that had caused the losing of one eye. Hm. So he had to be a meister, then. Or at least probably was. Stella didn’t particularly care what he was, to be fair. She was a meister who had a perfectly capable partner already.
Gardenia, on the other hand, had only been around for about a month. So that was probably why Stella had yet to meet her. She’d generally pick out someone of worth from a crowd easy. But she had never seen this Gardenia girl before. Though it was also possible she was in the NOT classes and Stella had just missed her. Not that it mattered, really. Stella had met her now and that was good enough for her.
The spotlight was then shifted on Stella when Gardenia asked her how her time had been treating her. ”Well enough.” Stella said, followed by a soft sigh. She was still awfully tired, and didn’t enjoy talking about herself in general. ”I’ve managed to get a partner and we intend to go on a mission soon, so...”
After those words, Stella took another sip of her coffee. Feh. It was growing cold. Oh well. Why she took a sip she glanced at the two other people. Nine months was more than long enough to obtain a partner, and Gardenia seemed pleasant enough to warrant obtaining one in the short length that was one. No sense trying to figure that out on her own. It’d be a topic they could converse about, which was always good. Stella put down her cup before speaking again. ”So, do either of you have partners?

What kind of large place was this? Duh. The cafeteria...Eavan shook her head motioning herself to get these places memorized, and soon. That map her uncle sent her didn't do a lick of good, it was so old...she couldn't read anything from it.
Walking over to the right section, Eavan sighed and noted that there wasn't much of a selection of food out for the grabbing. Noting though she had missed breakfast while getting to school, and also it was to early for anything else.
Pulling up her green lunch bag Eavan pulled out her container filled with warm Irish coffee and proceeded over to a empty table. Sitting down she unscrewed the container's lid and then poured the coffee into it. Taking a sip...she smiled a bit. "I'll miss this" was all she said....watching other students, seeing what she should do next.
